what's up everybody Welcome in now the game is not technically over yet but it's 52-3 with 9 minutes to go in the fourth quarter so I figured what the heck I'll give you some thoughts uh right now instead of waiting for this game to end my name is Michael bori I would invite you please to like the video and also subscribe to the channel we do three live streams a week we'll be back live on Sunday night to recap the entire weekend of college football and it's been a pretty incredible day of college football hope you'll join me there so 52 to3 the score right now I've got 1 2 3 four five separate thoughts for you kind of post game thoughts and then uh we'll get to the podcast recording and do all that stuff uh first of all the story of the day is Jackson Dart broke old misses consecutive passes record to start a game that was held by Matt carral at 20 back in 2020 against Vanderbilt uh Dart did it today he's now 24 of 26 by the way for three 81 just one touchdown did run for a touchdown as well he was it was funny he was actually really mad at himself uh for the in are mad about the incompletion because they were going for very clearly going for the FBS record of 26 fell just short of that but it's being reported that he did break the SEC record for most consecutive completions to start a game in the conference so a really special day for uh for Jackson Dart um you know they they're going to have a mismatch quarterback and receivers and weapons against basically every opponent that they play you know it still is Middle Tennessee but the efficiency that this passing offense has played with o over the first two games executing catching the ball I mean no drops receivers getting open he's on time he's accurate throwing the football uh it's just been a really good start to the season for Jackson Dart he is very much on Pace to break the Old Miss alltime passing record and uh this was yet another game to really get him going in that direction it's Middle Tennessee but Dart was special again today because at this point guys he's a special quarterback and uh he showed that today thought number two it's kind of a sleepy game it started you knowas didn't really do a whole lot of of hustle hurry up offense they they really were um they were really kind of methodical uh to start the game crowd left early and I understand why you guys know me I'm not a crowd shamer it was 31 to nothing at one point it's a beautiful day it's Middle Tennessee there's other stuff to do I I get it I'm not a crowd shamer but kind of a sleepy game and frankly that's okay because if you look around college football I I mean Northern Illinois just beat Notre Dame Northern Illinois just beat Notre Dame after Notre Dame went to college station and won that game Penn State struggled for four quarters with Bowling Green today you saw last week Oregon really struggle for four quarters with Idaho you saw NC State struggle for four quarters with Western Carolina so although it was a bit of a sleepy game Miss executed early it was more methodical but they executed early they got out to a very comfortable big lead and they've done that two weeks in a row and for the most part and we'll get to some of the concerns here in a second executed throughout the game and as a result of that there is no Northern Illinois there is no Bowling Green like you saw with other really good teams in college football today it was a workmanlike kind of just get out execute and move on kind of thing that doesn't mean it was perfect but the fact that they have been so in control and dominant the way they have is it's noteworthy it's not nothing and Old Miss has looked like they have supposed to look for the most part uh so far this year they ran the football intentionally today Henry Paris 14 carries for 165 yards and you could tell early in the game I mentioned like the slow methodical start to the game uh that that was you know that was part of it was Henry Parish he got the ball a lot and they had explosive runs again he averaged 12 yards per carry and he was really good today and Lane kein kind of hinted at that uh during the week that they were going to be more intentional running the football and uh they showed you that this offense how balanced they can be and how many different ways that they can beat you um and they showed that uh today so Bentley had 165 Matt Jones had a touchdown good for him he got uh some early carries uh he has earned that on multiple levels there was a lot of questions about where where Bentley is and he did play a little I I don't know the answer to why he's not playing but I do kind of It kind of made me laugh that people were early in this game when Henry parish is absolutely cooking and averaging 12 yards per carry he had what 92 yards or something in the first half on seven carries and people are like where's Bentley where's Bentley I don't know where Bentley was but they didn't need him uh because Paris was so good um Lane's going to get asked about it I assume uh we'll get a uh a better answer on that moving forward because Bentley is you know the returner on this team and what you thought would be the best back that they have and he's gotten very little playing time so far it's noteworthy but I mean when Harris when Henry Parish not Harish Henry parish is doing what he did today so you know kind of so what so what Bentley didn't play because you got that kind of production from a a veteran back in Parish and you know I understand the questions but also they didn't need Bentley today maybe he's in the dogghouse maybe he's a little banged up I think we'll get those answers soon but uh probably not today Trey Harris really good nine receptions 130 yards juice Wells five receptions 80 yards Kaden Lee four receptions 64 yards uh really good uh receivers because they are and they they looked like it today noteworthy there Jordan Watkins uh returned Jordan Watkins is back in the lineup for Old Miss but the they ran the football intentionally early and that was a good sign uh thought number four Walter Nolan uh it looked ugly that knee or leg or ankle injury whatever it was it didn't look pretty at first uh especially with the way it was like kind of a non-c contct he slipped and grabbed at it right away he was you know moving around and and kind of running on the sidelines and they didn't take his helmet and he was standing next to kein uh the last shot that saw before I started talking to you guys he was on the sidelines moving around talking to kein so that is a a good sign it doesn't mean he's in the clear but I can't imagine a scenario in which he went to the injury tent they tested him had deep concerns and then let them leave the injury tent and start running around on the sidelines and hanging out on the sidelines so it looked bad initially um will know more maybe not right away because that's how old miss operates with injuries but the SEC is going to make them reveal them here in a few weeks when Kentucky comes to Oxford but that is uh something that I underline uh Walter Nolan what was that what happened at least he was moving around on the sidelines and looking like he was without pain at least in the shots that they showed him but that is still something noteworthy um losing him would be uh quite devastating because he's a special player luckily they don't need to play him over the next couple of weeks and hell if you watch Kentucky today they may not need him for Kentucky either so they've got some buffer if they need to let him have some time to recover from whatever it is but he was on the sidelines moving around which is a good thing and finally thought number five the uh the question the bad question of the day is Old Miss is secondary um Middle Tennessee let's see flipping over through for I mean here's here's why stats can be a little bit misleading because you uh middle Tennessee went 23 of 36 for 205 yards in an interception that is 5 yards per pass attempt that is a really good day defending the pass generally but you guys watched the game you saw that there were there were the occasional coverage busts uh there was a lot of really nice catches that were pretty well defended mixed in there as well but it was not a good day uh for the secondary kein talked about it um with Ashley right on the sidelines I believe that's her first name I'm not going to even try her last name with all due respect to her I just I don't want to butcher it so the sideline uh analyst asked him about it and he was you could tell he was frustrated with secondary play uh it was not good uh in the second quarter and and into the third as well now I'm missing most of the fourth quarter but still that was something that you got to kind of circle and underline luckily guys like Trey Washington you know that they can perform at this level you you've seen it you you know what Amos can do at the this level you you've seen it so it's not it wasn't good they did not pass the eye test today but it was guys that you know have done it at a higher level in the past and the numbers say that they were better than they looked but they did not pass the eye test today in the secondary that is something to keep an eye on underline point an arrow at if we're talking about giving up a lot of yards through the air in a few weeks then we know that we should have seen that uh in the Middle Tennessee game so uh those are some postgame thoughts we'll be back Sunday for the live stream thank you guys for tuning in don't forget to like And subscribe and all that good stuff uh hopefully you like this uh shorter postgame format and um yeah I'll see you guys on Sunday
