how we doing everybody and welcome in to Wisconsin Sports on the go with TR I'm your host TR it is Monday September 9th a fantastic Monday here in the great state of Wisconsin or wherever you are tuning in today I hope it's fantastic wherever you're at to you know I told you guys last Friday I said coming back here on Monday I wanted to be talking about an exciting weekend good games everything was good with the world the Brewers the Badgers the Packers well there was some good I'm not gonna say that every game was just this tragedy right there was some good the Badgers got the win though not it was very unimpressive once again so I want to get into that once again today here Packers lose in Brazil That's not the big storyline coming out of there there's more to it even though they lose that game there's lots of bad mixed in in there there's even worse mixed in there and then the Brewers they drop a series to the Rockies it seems like the Rockies just I I don't know what it is the Rockies just seem to have the Brewers number I I don't know why I don't know why the Rockies just have this magical thing to beat the Brewers Wherever Whenever However but they do so lots to get into today lots get into lots to unpack after a very eventful weekend opening up NFL right finally got some football back that was exciting getting some NFL games back on the docket there some good ones some a lot of unimpressive football so far you expect that in week one so we'll see how everybody bounces back there in week two especially with that Packer team so let's look at the Packers Eagles let's let's unbox that let's talk about what we saw in that game and I mean first and foremost I'm I'm extremely happy to hear that Jordan love we'll only miss three to six weeks I mean there was I you look at your Facebook doctors and your online doctors and everybody's like d is you know he he tore his ACL he did this he did that and you're like sitting there like okay like I hope you're wrong I don't want to believe you're right maybe you're right but I I'm not gonna believe it I want to hear it from you know once he gets his X-ray once he gets his MRI and MRI came back and MCL sprayed so he's expected to miss three to six weeks they're hoping three weeks so now it's like okay what do we do what do we do now we're down to Malik Willis he came in late in that one the worst part was that that that play happened so late in that game and I mean there was lots of ways the Packers could have avoided that situation I don't know early on in the game there right Packers got you know what this is where I want to start out with Green Bay and that is the red zone their inability in the red zone to be able to put I mean put points on the board to start first off but also touchdowns in the end zone what in the Red Zone once you get in that magical little that box there once you get in there even they had a drive where they started out it was out at like the 40 or 35 somewhere in there that was the drive that narvis uh mixed he missed that uh he missed that field goal there he missed one on the game and it w i mean that one ended up could have it a heck of a lot I guess in the grand scheme of things there three for four in the game he missed that one there and that was started out very good field position had to get it going couldn't get anything going forward ended up having a try for the field goal ended up missing it no points on that one they had multiple drives early on in this game right with the fumble you know getting themselves down in the Red Zone they're in the red zone now you got to be able to punch it in one of those times at least one of those times I get you know sometime it's tough it's tough to get to the Red Zone every single time and Come Away with seven points and the NFL you played against pretty I thought the Eagles defense I don't I'm not a huge Eagles fan anything by any means but I thought the Eagles defense actually looked pretty pretty impressive in this game I did not think they look bad like to be honest with you I thought they have some you know that revamp secondary that we were talking about I thought they had some I mean Mitchell out there I think he's going to be I think he's GNA be a very good player I really do and uh a couple other guys out there on their defense who played very well in that secondary I thought Jaylen Carter we talked about him in our pregame show all last week there that the Packers had to do a great job on this defensive line from the Eagles to slow them down give Jordan love time I thought Jordan love was rushed at some points in this one I thought Jaylen Carter kind of played bully ball in there with Jordan Morgan a couple times right and that's something that the Packers hopefully can clean up I was not ultimately I was not impressed by the offensive line for Green Bay I I wasn't I was not impressed by the offensive line in it's game one right so you still have there's still time everything's going to be a okay I'm not We're Not Gonna you know blow a gasket quite yet but I was definitely not impressed uh week one there with the offensive line for Green Bay they struggled in this game to get Josh Jacobs going you know Josh Jacobs I mean he ended up with I was just going to check out his yards to be sure 84 yards in total but I that was late that was late in this game that Josh Jacobs actually started getting going otherwise for the majority of this game the leading rusher on this team was Emanuel Wilson Emanuel Wilson was doing it all right and then Josh Jacobs was able to slowly get get going get rumbling downhill but that Red Zone efficiency for Green Bay looking at him I was just going to check out the stats so I didn't uh make something up there they were one for four in the Red Zone Eagles three for six three for six compared to one for four that's I mean already gonna kick you in the pants twice right you had kicked in the pants three times there you got to be able to come up with points you got to be able to come away with touchdowns especially in a game like this where it ended up being one of those kinds of who's going to score more who's going to win the shootout you know 34 to 29 there was not a whole lot of excellent defense being played there was good moments throughout this I you know as as bad as people have talked on Halley's defense and this Green Bay defense coming out of this there was good moments inside packed up inside there it's just some things overweight others I thought Jer Alexander you know the the job that they did on AJ Brown in this game I the scheming trying to hide things I I didn't like it I I am gonna be honest with you I did not think they did a good job on AJ Brown because at times he was able to do whatever he wanted right he was out there you know they call it on an island right it wasn't jer's Island on uh Friday night because AJ Brown was able to do just about anything he wanted against jier there a couple times I mean we watched God get wide open we watch Damonte Smith end up wide open out there miscommunications out there there was just a lot of issues and then to top it all off we talked I mean the big thing the big thing that we talked about was if you want to beat this team you have to be able to slow down saquon Barkley you can't completely stop saquon Barkley I mean he's a very good back we know this he's a thousand yard rusher when he's healthy he's a very good back but you had to be able to contain him and control him and prevent him from getting those big gains right 34 yards was big run on the night there two touchdowns 100 n yards on the ground 4.5 yards per carry we talked about the linebackers right the linebackers for Green Bay Quay Walker Isaiah McDuffy Eric Wilson right Quay Walker I I thought you know a lot of people and I I wasn't truly all in on that a lot of people were saying after this one they were completely done with Quay Walker like Walker's a bust everything like that I think Walker has talent I think the talent is there with Quay Walker honestly I think Quay Walker flies around like he's got his a chicken with his head cut off and he has no idea what's going on in front of him because he I watched the play the one I believe it was when saquon Barkley had was one of his longer touchdown his longer touchdown run I believe it was that one there and he came through the hole and Quay Walker came through there hot right he was hot and heavy coming through that hole and he blew right past sequan blew right past him and you know then he see a guy come and he like blocks him a little bit or whatever Quay Walker blew right past the play and a lot of this yes you know there was lots of times where Green Bay I mean there was slipping there was sliding this field sucked I'm gonna be honest with you the I mean shame on the NFL this was a shitty field to play on sorry for the sorry for cuss familyfriendly here this was a crappy field to even attempt a football game on I don't care about the controversy leading up to this game like teams can't wear green and you know don't have your family down here because there's possibility that gangs go after them don't leave the hotels don't answer texts or phone numbers you don't recognize all that crap I don't care about that anymore right because done and over with what I that that's bad enough what I am deeply interested in is you know we we've heard players complain about you know turf fields versus grass fields in the United States right and then we go down to this soccer field and I I'm not a huge soccer guy but what I know is what they want in the grass for soccer they want it to be slippery they want it to be easier for guys to be able to move small guys right now you throw a bunch of NFL players on this field a bunch of NFL guys bigger heavier making harder Cuts everything like that you throw them out there and you just think you can just keep it the same it's going to work the same that was ridiculous I I'm not even looking at just the standpoint from the Green Bay Packers I'm looking from the standpoint of both teams in that game was that the field was just absolutely atrocious I am honestly that it it ticks me off to no end it does because you know you We complain you know I well I complain a lot about International games to begin with I don't think I I understand the reasoning for trying to expand globally I get it but what I what I hate is if it gets too far right and we start sending teams across overseas multiple times or they talk about expansion teams going down in these other countries I don't want to see that right this is American football it's meant to be played in our backyards right I don't want the Packers to play a home game you know the Eagles had one of their home games in Brazil right if you're a season ticket holder for the Eagles what are you thinking what do you thinking this is my home like this is my this is my ability to watch the Eagles so many times throughout the year now one of the home games was down in Brazil so like that's that's where I kind of get irritated with the international games but now those other games overseas those weren't as bad right I didn't think the playing field was bad over there but we go down to this Stadium here in South Paulo and the the field is slippery as crap it's just I mean watching guys sliping his slide you know when we have to go to the sideline 45 times and watch you know I I mean I'm Big Tool Guy right I'm electrician I'm a big tool guy I like me some Milwaukee Tools I like watching a Milwaukee tool on the sideline taking cleat pegs in and out and putting new ones in I love that but I don't want to see it 45 times but these guys are going back to the sideline they're trying to figure out what to put on their like what kind of shoes am I gonna wear today right I just thought you know that was terrible that was terrible on its own right so getting back to you know Quay Walker I just think he has to be controlled I I think I still think he isn't he's not a veteran he's not you know relaxed he's flying through there at a million miles per hour and he's blowing P the play at times and at other times he uses that speed and he runs down guys out out in the uh Flats so and I mean he's a pretty good pass Defender too so there's good and bad with Quay Walker I think he's got a lot of developing to do I think honestly we look at this Packers this Packers defense and we forget about the youth we forget that you know everybody wants to see this Lineback the the Packers linebacker core hasn't been good in a while plain and simple they haven't been good in a while I mean AJ Hawk's gone right we we don't have that uh linebacker core anymore the Packers are developing linebackers Isaiah McDuffy is gonna be a fine player Eric Wilson is already a fine player they aren't Stars they aren't Stars they're solid serviceable players right Quay Walker could be very good I really do think he could be very good I think his head's got to get screwed on first I think he's got a lot of things mentally to figure out with the game first and then everything's going to come along with him so there's my stance on Quay Walker that was a big reason why Squan was able to break out so many times was the linebackers but that leads me to it wasn't just Quay Walker there was a lot of Miss tackles in this game a lot of Miss tackles from jier to Eric Stokes from the defensive lineman out to the safety position there was a lot of Miss tackles in this game so first game out you're going to think about that if it continues to happen that way now we have to start taking notice I thought JV and Bullard played a very good game for Green Bay I I don't know like to me what J Javen Bullard 11 total tackles seven solo tackles on this game I was impressed with Javen Bullard he was flying around he was he was flying around but controlled right the difference being Quay Walker actually was up there with 11 total t tackles too but the difference for me between Quay Walker and what jvm Bullard did I thought Bullard was more controlled going into his tackle he set up he was down he was ready he blew through the guy Quay Walker flies through like he wants to take your head off but when you're going like that sometimes that leads to other issues so I thought I was very impressed with the play of Javen Bullard in this game against the Eagles there uh I thought Slayton had a decent game for Green Bay the run defense in a total I the run defense wasn't good the run defense has struggled since last season the run defense struggled again now this is Halley's first game first game as a defensive coordinator for the Green Bay Packers first regular season game so adjustments hopefully will be made there you know schemes everything like that hopefully he learned from this game this Eagles offensive line we went into this one talking about the Eagles offensive line and you know the missing piece of Jason Kelce would they take a step back early on in this game they had that uh the snap when uh Jaylen Herz wasn't ready and you know ended up with the fumble Packers got the ball in the Red Zone weren't able to score you know sucks that sucks but after that I thought the Eagles offensive line played pretty well in this game I thought they played pretty well in this game Packers only totaled up two sacks in the game verse the Eagles who Eagles also had two sacks you look at tackles for loss in this game Packers had seven tackles for loss in this game so they were getting in the back field they were getting in the back field doing their thing it was just I mean red zone inefficiency right also miss tackles when they got out in the open field also a problem a big problem for Green Bay so those are a couple of the things that I looked at I know a lot of people were in the penalty room and you know what I was also the there was two calls two calls two boneheaded things that happened in the game that I want to get to and then two calls that I did not agree with number one was the it was a pass interference called on Jer Alexander he was on Devonte Smith they called him for holding and when you watch the replay there was no holding that not a single bit there was two guys giving each other a little bit of business when he came for when Devonte Smith first came out then Devonte tried to go to the outside and jier basically just let him go and Packers would have got out of there on a they would have been fourth down they would have got out of there ended up first down that was a killer that was a killer so that was a terrible call the second one I believe it was oh was it the one and I think it was Kenny Clark I think they called Kenny Clark for a holding on saquan Barkley that one also uh like made me question you know he might have might have grabbed him a little bit but saquan I mean coming out as a blocker Kenny's got him up Kenny ain't moving saquan ain't moving Kenny and then all of a sudden it's like okay holding and when they said holding and they said Kenny Clark I was like do we got the wrong number here like are we calling the wrong guy and then all of a sudden nope it's K it's on Kenny Clark and I was sitting there like uh oh it's on Kenny Clark so those were the two I would say penalties that I really looked at Packers were penalized I mean 10 times 10 times for 71 yards in this game and if you get penalized 10 times for 71 yards there was two that I like I just mentioned there that I was questionable on the rest of them you look at uh illegal formations you look at false starts everything in between some point blank holding calls you know pre- snap penalties last season killed the Packers I thought you know going into this season the Packers with this experienced team that's been working together would get a little bit better in that department it seems like they stayed the same it just honestly seems like they stay the same it's like that slow start we saw we saw last year we saw in this game so that was another thing that took away was the penalty problem two plays also that I didn't understand number one Jer Alexander in he gets the interception in the end zone and runs around for about good five seconds he's pointing guys out he's pointing out blockers and then he comes out and he gets it out to like the 10 dude just put the knee down get the Touchback and bring it out then right didn't make sense second one at the the last Drive Packers you know Eagles go down they kick the field goal they go up by five and the Packers are going to get the ball back with limited time right and we see the kick that new kickoff rule they have it's got to be in that box you have to return if it's beyond that you don't have to return it it's beyond that right kesan Nixon if he puts the knee down or just lets it go behind him through the end zone and comes out to the 30 yard line good field position to start it right instead we bring it out we get stoed I believe where did that drive start I was just going to double I I can't remember exactly where that drive started there drive started at the Green Bay 16 so instead of starting at the 30 because the first pass went to uh Reed for 33 yards so you would have started at the 30 you would be at the 40 43 if I'm not mistaken there with the math I'm GNA do quick math and just pretend like I'm right You' have been at you'' been on the Eagles side of um of the field on first down with the ball it just got taken out of bounds you'd have 15 seconds on the eagle side of the field to try and throw it to the end zone and you know what if it all plays out the same because then we saw we saw Josh Jacobs get the pitch from love he ended up with four yards there that's the one that love got hurt on Malik Willis comes into a situation where he's got the ball on let's just say the Eagles 40 yard line at this point I don't know I'm trying to do math but I'm not really trying to do math ends up with the ball on Eagles 40 yard line now completely different situation now it's not as far of a heave to get it to the end zone it's not as far right even if love stays healthy in there it's not as far of a heave at that at that point you can you have more options right you don't have to just send every you know you're going to send everybody deep but you have options to be able to run down there you're not just Flying Blind like let's just throw it to the corner you have options there you also if you're on that side of the field with 15 seconds to go you have the ability for a quick hitter yet right get out of bounds something up and out you got that ability yet you have I mean 15 seconds as long as the ball ends up out of Bounce you got two shots you at least got two shots there to try and make something happen to get even closer so that play by kesan Nixon that irritated me I if Matt Flur did not go in the locker room and say jier and kesan you to need to stop trying to play herob ball and just think fundamental football I I don't know because that's where I'm at with that that's fundamental football you got to know the situation Kean Nixon you got to know the situation if he would have house the kickoff then we're talking about something completely different right now right but since he only got it out to the Green Bay 16 we're sitting here talking about why that was a dumb decision and 99% of the time it's probably going to come back as a dumb decision that one% of the time that a boy right but it ain't this time so right now we're sitting here like why did you bring that football out you have to set your offense up for a good drive doesn't make sense same with jier didn't make sense you get the pick put the knee down no reason to bring it out of the end zone there you're not running around like your Deion Sanders out there dude you are not Dion Sanders just put the knee down call it a day move on with life so those are some of the takeaways I took away from that there the all in all the offense I did not think was crisp at all there was drop passes there was Miss throws Jordan love kind of resort and we don't have to talk about Jordan love for a little bit here but in this game Jordan love seemed to kind of resort back to that backf foot you know hop skip and a throw kind of thing it's dude just throw it just put I mean just put a little bit of a an arm on it and just gun it in there I don't know like that was that was rough uh late in the game speaking of the run defense containing Jaylen Herz late in the game that was I mean they did well early on containing Jaylen Herz and keeping him from running the football but late in the game I mean man oh man the Miss tackles contributed to that but Jaylen Herz being able to get to the edge and being able to get the first down a couple of first downs there late in the game that was definitely a problem I mean you look down the receiving board Jaden Reed had a good game dobs was okay in this game but then you look down Christian Watson three CES for 13 yards and then you had davien Wicks three targets no receptions dropped a couple and a bad throw I mean there was a lot of issues and it it didn't just it wasn't just the wide receiver room it was with the quarterback it was with the line there was a lot of issues on the offense hopefully it was just first game Jitters and I mean it's we can move out from it right now I I've heard the Packers reached out to Ryan tanah Hill to potentially come in it's already Monday if Ryan tanah Hill ain't in Green Bay are ready that's GNA be a problem trying to get him accustomed to the Playbook right off the bat you're going to have to probably stick with Malik Willis I've heard talks about Shawn Clifford coming up and potentially filling in for Jordan love for at least the first game because he knows the Playbook better than Malik Willis does there's this is like it's not worst case scenario because we're not talking about season ending possibly season ending injury right but we're talking about three to potentially six weeks depending how the rehab goes three to potentially six weeks where we got to find a way to win games and you have some winnable games in that stretch the uh Colts coming up next year and then the Titans then the Vikings you have some win games but you don't want to end up with an I mean 0 and four start an 0 and four start even if you get Jordan love back that's tough start because like I mean we know this with the Packers schedule you have the Rams after that you have the Cardinals who I believe are getting better you have the Texans you have the Lions you have the Bears the 49ers the Dolphins Seattle you have the Bears again I mean you have a pretty good a pretty tough schedule that if you start out own four it's hard to afford to lose a lot of games the rest of the way especially if you're looking to at that point you're not looking for an NFC North Championship if if you are I mean yeah but you're looking for just making the playoffs at that point so then you're realistically in that 10 and seven range so you can only afford to lose three of those games along that stretch that's tough way that's tough because you have the Lions on the road you have the Bears on the road you have the Vikings on the road Seattle on the road I mean 49ers and dolphins back to back like that's a tough stretch so Green Bay definitely has a lot of question marks on the offense a lot of question marks on the defense and an even bigger question mark at the quarterback spot right now we're going to get a lot more into the Packers as the week goes up running a little bit long there with the Packers just wanted to get to a little short recap we're at the long recap right now we're gonna get more into the Packers as the week goes on I believe Aaron is gonna be back on from brutal Sports he's the Eagles fan we're gonna talk about this game a little bit more in depth there I want to get more into that as this week goes on here but right now let's get over to the Badgers because the Badgers were another another a very I I don't want to say like they won right I I don't want to take away from a win because a win's a win right but I guess at least to me what I wanted to see out of the Badgers was I don't even know if it's a route of South Dakota but in that game to make me you know the old slogan for uh the men's basketball team when they were making that final four run it was the make them believe right it was the make them believe slogan I wanted Wisconsin football to make me believe make me believe that when Alabama a big red comes rolling into town they don't chew you up spit you out like I do to a piece of big red gum because that cinnamon gum no thank you I don't want Alabama to come in and do that to me right not in Camp random but this Badger team did not prove to me that that ain't what's going to happen right so I mean like I said wins a win end of the day wins a win 2713 Badgers got the win they did a lot of the dirty work late in this one because I we're talking about a 17-13 game Badgers were able to put it at 20-3 and then they were able to score in that fourth quarter but once again this Badger team they they stunk on um The Rush defense for Wisconsin is not it's not pristine it's not pristine that's the best word I can look for there is this Rush defense for Wisconsin isn't is not impressing me whatsoever they're not impressing me I was just checking out the box there just wanted to see so I was correct on this one three sacks on this game against an offensive line who I mean they're big right but Wisconsin's got some decent pieces in there uh Peterson I thought was going to be a pretty good ad this year he's had his problems uh El a got in there for a sack in this game and then Elijah Hills had an our sack in this game it starts with the Big Fellas for me you know Kurt Neil in there I thought he was going to come up a lot bigger this season so far Ben Barton hasn't been as big up in the the front line as I thought he would be disruptive for the Badgers so for me it starts with those guys it really does it starts with those guys and South Dakota they finished with 237 total yards of offense 114 passing 123 on the rushing side there but I mean they had a 40 they have four play 74 75 yard touchdown to begin or 75 yard touchdown uh drive to begin the second half I mean Wisconsin's defense I would say is the the thing that I the main takeaway that I take from Wisconsin's defense is that they're just not playing good enough right now because teams like South Dakota teams like Western Michigan are just able to just put the gas pedal down and drive the ball on you if teams like that can do it what I mean you're G to play Alabama and USC back to back right what tells you that those two teams can't do that exact thing to you that they can't just put I mean it's going to be easier for teams like that right it's not GNA be harder it won't be harder for Alabama to drive the ball than it would be for South Dakota I wouldn't think so right so I would say you know the stats don't tell you exactly what when you watch it you sit there and you think to yourself this isn't that impressive this defense isn't impressive they're not allowing a lot to South Dakota but it also is they're allowing a lot to South Dakota South Dakota is still able to do things against Wisconsin that they shouldn't be able to do like run the football consistently like they were and that's where I'm at with the defense right now the rush and run defense have just been kind of underwhelming I guess you would say that that would be my big thing is it's just underwhelming not as up to par as I thought it would be heading into this season here and so another thing that leads to that is that linebacker room well first off doesen help Jake Cheney ends up getting I that was just I I completely I understand the targeting call I do I understand it I hope everybody I hope everybody understands that targeting call there but this it somewhat gets out of control at times because watching that play over and over again yes Jake Cheney did have his head down a little bit and he it's I I feel like there has to be a fine line right and I feel like we're missing that line there is no line there right I wish it was a thick line at times but it's it needs to have at least a fine line and I feel like we're missing that line because I did not believe Jake Cheney should have been called targeting I didn't he ends up now ineligible for the first half of that game against Alabama that's a problem because Jake Cheney is one of your big dogs in the middle of that defense right Cheney is the in a struggling like I was just talking about not as impressive defense as what I was hoping for that's what he is and for J Cheney to be now missing a half against Alabama that's a problem for me but you look at this linebacker core as a as a whole they're I mean in this run defense in the rush everything like that even in the passing game it's like they're not there it's like non-existent out there in those pieces so the linebacker core for for this Badger team is an issue yet Jim Leonard didn't have and you know what I'm gonna put it out there Jim Leonard did not have these problems Jim Leonard did not have the problem look at the linebackers that have come out of Madison with Jim Leonard TJ Edwards he's in the NFL Leo Chanel might be one of the better players on Kansas City's defense that nobody talks about Leo Chanel yes Chris Jones is still on there so I didn't say the best he might be one of the better ones on that defense nobody talks about him right Borland's out there somewhere sanborn's out there somewhere I believe I'm TJ watt right you can't forget about TJ watt I believe I'm missing somebody else in that linebacker room probably out there I believe Neo joha got picked up by somebody I believe he's out there somewhere right there's I mean there's bits and pieces of the Packers linebacker corters from the past around in the NFL right now this linebacker core the the Badgers did I say Packers either way this linebacker core that the Badgers have right now is not impressing me not impressing me at the moment so that is another thing that I took away from this one also I mean the offense for the Badgers in this game they I I asked for a big play they gave me one big hitter they ended up with a I believe it was the it was the touchdown throw to CJ Williams for yards ended up wide open ended up scoring a touchdown there was my big hitter right I needed to see a big hitter they got me by big hitter outside of that outside of that first drive of the game for the Badgers productive touchdown did what we wanted him to Second drive and in a punt third Drive they scored that touchdown after that punt field goal punt field goal punt touchdown his Badger team and absolutely gets to me sometimes absolutely gets to me they have the talent on that offensive side of the ball the offensive line still isn't impressing me the offensive line for Wisconsin still is not impressing me I think they have a lot to work a lot of work to do and a lot of development to do yet on that offensive line because that still ain't it right they finally do find a way to get their receivers involved right I mean we look down the board I mean CJ Williams will Pauling Vinnie Anthony Bryson Green Bryson Green with 38 yards everybody else 41 and up on yardage in this game they found ways to get the ball to receivers they found ways to get the big plays the bigger plays right I mean the long for Bryson Green 22 yards will Pauling for 21 Vinnie had a 32 yard uh catch there and then CJ Williams with that 50 yard catch I mean there were some bigger plays mixed in there I just don't you know Tyler van djk it's like he starts out slow in a game he's starting out slow in that first half kind of finds his stride as this game goes on finding his receivers making it work everything like that that's all fine and dandy but then you got to hope that your defense can hold on that your defense can hold on against I mean Alabama coming to town or USC coming to town you can if you're gonna have slow starts in offense you better hope that your defense can hold this own right the slow starts for Wisconsin's offense would be the thing that kind of gets to me this game out they ended up scoring a touchdown the first drive wasn't as slow the first half wasn't ultimately very impressive by of Tyler van djk he's more of a just get the job done quarterback right 17 for 27 one touchdown 7.9 was his average there 214 yards nothing great nothing over the top just an average day at the office right the offensive line for this Badger team I believe needs to get better I I really do I if this badger team is going to be able to hold their own against Alabama USC Oregon Penn State even Iowa they got to find a way to that offensive line has got to find a way to run block and pass block all in one right they got to be able to find a way to do both this game out a little bit better but but there's always a butt there's still problems in there so I'm looking at that offensive line to get better it's not going to happen in a week but they definitely need to see some improvement in there maybe it does maybe it does maybe it's some calls maybe it's different scheming up in there maybe fil Longo's got to work with that Playbook a little bit to try and help out his offensive line little things like that because this Alabama team they got a solid defense right and you gotta be able to you got to be able to pass block the Run game ain't G to be able to carry you completely in this game hopefully it does but it's not going to be able to uh carry you the whole way you got to find a way to pass ball around in this one and Badgers hopefully hopefully find a way they draw up some plays they do a little bit of this and they can avoid just doing the Dink and the dunk they can find a way to maybe get a guy open against the Alabama defense it's a lot of hypotheticals this is going to be a maybe a rough game this week maybe a good one we're gonna hope for the best right so all in all this game here Badgers end up with a win great news great news there but it was another unimpressive win against a small school does that worry you as a badger fan now if you look NIU they end up being Notre Dame right so you could have been in that boat we're not in that boat we ended up beating both of our uh non-conference small opponent teams so that's good on that end right we could be like Notre Dame even Florida State who lost to Georgia Tech who I think is going to be better than what some people think there and Boston College who well Boston College Boston College you know so we've seen some top teams fall to some bad teams does that have to do with the nil does that have to do with the transfer portal I believe it does with the transfer portal I think there's a lot of guys who are transferring out of these uh bigger universities and maybe they don't have as much talent so they're transferring out easier to get down to a smaller school and be able to get their talents down there that's where you know maybe that's helping out maybe that's making some of these bad worst teams a little bit better right because I mean we went through the um recruiting for South Dakota in their transfers they had guys from Michigan State coming in they had guys from here and here and here right they were getting some talented guys in the room so that's definitely something that could definitely be benefiting a team like South Dakota right now Badgers in this game though I mean the fumble fumbling the football is a problem the turnovers for the Badgers I mean you look at I was just going to pull up their season statistics but I believe they have four fumbles on the season are four turnovers maybe uh right there four fumbles one of them was lost so handling the football being careful with it that's going to be something big this week here that has to be preached because you can't afford turnovers against Alabama you can't afford turnovers you can't you really can't in this one um outside of that yeah I mean there's there's more to unpack in this game but we're running long today I'm gonna get I want to get more into the Badgers as the week goes on here I I do I want to get more into the Badgers unpacking some of these games here just like Packers didn't get into all of it there want to get more into it as week goes on here but before we wrap it up for the day I want to get into the Brewers real quick because the Brewers did drop the series The Weekend series to the Colorado Rockies Friday night lost that one three to2 I mean the offense all in all I mean you want to sum up these three games the offense Brewers win game two five- two but the offense is starting to slow down a little bit and that's where your worry might come in Friday night four hits on the entire game there Frankie montis ends up taking the loss there Rockies get three runs in the top of the six and that was enough to carry him and then you look at Sunday's game there they had three hits in total in Sunday's game 10 hits on Saturday that was definitely a big boost to back Tobias Meyers um very very good start I mean Tobias Myers has been very good for the Brewers he went six Innings four hits one in run in that game he had a solid outting for the Brewers there but you look at Sunday's game then Freddy he gets kind of bounced around a little bit again four and two3 seven hits three earned runs four uh strikeouts in this one and again the big problem the Home Run ball the Home Run ball against Freddy Peralta it it's like the other day I was talking about the Achilles heel for the entire Brewers team was uh scoring with runners or putting runs across the board right with runners in scoring position Freddy peral is a heel the Home Run ball right that is his biggest problem they got I mean 4 to one was the final there and in this one Freddy Peralta gave up that home run and then later in this one the Home Run was actually given up by Hobie Milner who another guy who the Home Run ball is an issue for well Obie Milner seems to be all over the place with issues but that' be another one so I mean the Brewers I'm not hitting a panic button I'm not hitting a panic button but what I said was going into this weekend the Brewers had to find a way to win this series they just had to it wasn't like it was you know if they don't win this series they're not going to make the playoffs but but you remain nine games up on the Cubs in the NL Central so that's good right but you're also in that boat you're also chasing the Phillies you're chasing the Dodgers you don't want a wild card game I don't understand why I I don't want to be just happy with getting into the playoffs at this point at this stage I want the Brewers to be wanting to be that twoo I want Brewer fans to want to be that too yes at the end of the day if you want to be that too you win games you end up as a three okay fine fine and dandy but when you look back on this season and you look at the schedule or the where games finished out right and you look down the stretch here and you see that the Brewers Lost the series to the Colorado Rockies they lost two Ser two straight series to the St Louis Cardinals because they lost the Series at home and they lost the Series on the road in St Louis when you look back at those series and you say to yourself okay if they would have won that series if they would have won that series what could have changed right we could have been a two seed we could have got the automatic buy we could have ended up avoiding the Wild Card round because anything it's it's called wild card for a reason it's wild you don't know what's going to happen in the Wild Card round you want to avoid that now you have a series with the Giants who the Giants are no pushover team we know that they're a solid ball club and then you have the Diamondbacks the Phillies and the Diamondbacks back to back to back you have the Diamond Backs and the Phillies and a sandwich right there and those are all playoff teams right there those are all playoff teams the Philly series you could be playing for that two seed this series was big it's not the end of the world but it was big right so now the Brewers got a bounce back they have an off day today that's great they they had an off day the other day before the rocky series off day today and then they're going to start a big stretch of games they have 13 games in a row there before their next off day before they're going to end up with six to wrap up the season you got to use this off day you got to get right that offense has got to start feeling mentally right again they got to start get going again and they need to come into that giant series and just need to put it on them like just put it on them finally kabash me kabash anyone who's saying that you can't score uh runs with runners in scoring position you can't find a way to consistently hit the baseball and drive runs in put everything like that all those talks to bed right now put them to bed this Giants series is going to be big it's G to be big because that right there that giant series is going to set up the rest of that road trip the giant series you travel to San Francisco then then you go down to Arizona then you have the Phillies and then you have the Diamond Backs again back at home you got to go on you got to start this road trip off right you got to end it right before you get the Phillies because that is going to set up a a good stretch run there for you to potentially be able to find your way back into that twoo if you lose the series to the Giants if you lose that first series to the Diamondbacks that two seed in that playoffs slowly starts to run away and then you're sitting there you're like okay we're a wild card team now right you were a wild card team we don't want that we don't want the wild card we want to see the Brewers he has that two seed how's it got to happen they got to get rolling they got to get hot they got to get hot going on here so hopefully Brewers find a way coming up here against the Giants moving forward there Isaac Collins just a big shout out to Isaac Collins their first career hit and stolen base against that Rockies in the Rockies series there good stuff in a game where there weren't a lot of hits not a lot of spots Isaac Collins delivered once that was big that was great to see there and also I mean he he played well on on defense too hopefully hopefully he's a good talent keep around there for a while there Brewer hickland was sent back down and I Believe Christian Yelich was uh he sent to the 60-day so not big news there we already kind of assumed that that was gonna happen at some point but they finally made the official move there so Brewers I want to get more into the Brewers we just got so much else there's so much
