what was it like to find the sound of Rebel Ridge uh for this movie has a little action taste got that nice little Rambo feel to it what was it like to find the music for it um again as mentioned we we really just stuck with with Aaron's performance of of the main protagonist um Terry Richmond um there was versions of the score that were much much bigger um early demos early experiments were um more heavily layered and almost resembled you know action scores from the ' 80s um and we found uh after like a 2 and 1 half year process of scoring that sort of removing things and keeping sounds much more uh focused and um and almost intimate um sort of seem to support Terry's Mission a little more appropriately and it does have a different sound to it than you would expect when you're watching ing a film with a lot of action in it yes yeah I mean we we we really kind of focused on in on a kind of gritty earthy organic sound and um in lie of a big string section or something everything we did was much much smaller and focused um tight um and also Jer Jeremy's um as a filmmaker he's sort of um one of the things he's applauded for is just a very realistic feel to his films a lot of of that falls in sound design and he and he he puts a big emphasis on the strength of sound effects and and everything that you're hearing um and we had to make sure we're just we're supporting that and never sort of overshadowing that um working with Maru grabinsky his sound designer um I think was sort of a a really nice balance we found with working with him
