at approximately 5 a.m. on Tuesday August 27th an explosion occurred at Hartsfield Jackson International Airport in Atlanta a 31-year-old Boeing 7572 32 having completed a flight from Las Vegas on Sunday night was undergoing maintenance at a hangar near the airport's International Terminal when one of its tires suddenly exploded the blast caused extensive damage and tragically resulted in the deaths of two workers both Georgia residents merco F marag 58 of stone mountain and Luis Alder 37 of Nunan another individual was seriously injured in the incident while the explosion did not disrupt departures or arrivals at Delta's primary Hub the world's busiest airport by Passenger traffic it has nonetheless added to Boeing's mounting challenges this year this incident is particularly Grievous as it has resulted in the loss of life casting a PA over the Delta family the airline expressed profound sorrow over the tragedy stating that they are deeply saddened by the loss of two team members and the injury of another Delta has extended its condolences to the victim's families and has committed to offering full support during this difficult time John laughter president of Delta Tech Ops communicated with employees following the incident we are extending our full support to their families at this difficult time and conducting an investigation to determine what happened the company also expressed gratitude for the Swift response from First Responders and medical personnel on site all
