the flag for the cambos fight magnant it was magnant and you were very solemn in your duties I did notice you looked about 6 years old yes I was I handled it with a professionalism that is uh unknown people SW for the big fight between George ferocious cambos and Deon Haney I had duties though early in the day in the semi main event with my close friends the Maloney Brothers in this case Jason yes was fighting he's a world title fighter and he gave me the great honor of uh carrying the flag from SW cuz you knowon undefeated question brother and I respect what you did it was a huge honor but like could you not have had a godamn flag pole rather than like hold it out wingspan wise you couldn't even see you but that's what that's what happens though they don't have the flag pole they just carry it out and because I've got the heart I could still get the flag under my chin I was very conscious of that 20 cuz I wanted do know you people for the fans at home to be able to see me and collectively we thank you just we just saw you you were just technically there it was very exciting uh so I went out there uh me and K's went out there to wish Jay all the best it was in there the old change rooms where he used to get ready swanny mag and it was a little bit tense and so Angelo haer one of the great boxing trainers we met you met Angelo swanny used to train Danny Green he just thought the room was a little bit tense right next morning Angelo's taken his shirt off and he's fighting he preparing Jason with the mids doing some pad work sure and angelit sparing Angelo is taking his shirt off fa to say old Angelo trained off thank Christ his fighter did not look like him or hadn't eaten as much food or had beenen as good a pad what are you saying well Angelo uh don't mince well George cambos uh he was beaten ferocious it wasn't that ferocious it was a little bit of a flat the guy he F was a again the guy he thought was very good um but it was a good atmosphere Michael buff was there let's get ready to rumble does the announcing um it was exciting so I sat there with my Dar with K's we sat in pretty good seats s SW it was just good to be a part of because it was a great atmosphere when George came to the ring yeah the Greek music started so all the Greek chanting was going on it was fun it was like being a soccer game din when you guy won did you bolt into the ring absolutely I did and when you hugged him was he all sweaty yes he was was he it was great so got a bit of hug a little bit of blood on me yes just a little bit of you know he had a couple of grazers on him swanny yuck you know it was just a bit a look at me time no you know so lucky you and I are not married because you would have been flying solo 100% on Su I would have done anything to avoid going to a fight and watching two men beat the [ __ ] out of each other Brown was lucky she was with me because it was very cold there I had to like a true gentleman I had to give her my jacket right and just it over the question the the knobs fighting out the out the front they weren indicative of the whole crowd was a pretty good crowd well pretty good crowd we had a couple of interesting characters uh I think they were from the mid-north coast uh of New South Wales and one guy threatened that uh he didn't want to make the the TR down to the toilet so he was going to start weing in a cup right beside us and I thought that was a little bit unsavory and might did as well and said hey manate if you wear in the cup I'm going to knock you out I thought oh look out things may get a little bit testy here fair warning fair warning and his mate turned around with cuz he was well dressed I sort of it was interesting so this bike looked like the biggest B in the world and then his mate was really beautifully dressed and he goes ah here he is here he is just cuz you're wearing a sports jacket mate I hate this doesn't give you the right to tell me not to piss in a cup all right I actually think it does it with a sports jacket has the right just to be clear it was s Pang we're talking about right no it was bro pomoy here's the difference in our day this is the way we finish their day broads goes to the pub at 8:30 yesterday morning can you believe it so we're both there we're not we're not together swanie I take I take the DAR broads goes with his mates this the age of everybody meeting on the apps which I've got nothing against it's sort of a conversation killer how did you meet your boyfriend or how did you meet your girlfriend hinge Bumble Tinder Adult Friend Finder whatever heel that's sort of the end of it isn't it that's the that's the end of it but occasionally you'll get an amazing love story and I found one on the internet that just made my heart sing 13 2410 do you have an amazing love story that you could share with us that's not just oh we met on bundle Bumble I first met my neighbor Carlos when I moved into his townhouse complex I'm reading you this whole story because you can't miss one detail aario Carlos tell already he was handsome and he always wore a suit and he smiled every time he saw me I was pretty positive he was gay and I was in a relationship anyway but being around him made me happy I looked forward to our quick chats every morning as we got into our cars for work shortly after moving in I found out I was pregnant and my boyfriend decided that that wasn't for him Carlos never commented on the situation but he certainly noticed my growing tummy and suddenly absent boyfriend he'd find little ways to help like carrying my groceries my windshield was mysteriously scraped free of snow every morning he's in here he's in here and when I went into labor I couldn't get a hold of anyone my mom and sister weren't answering their phones and the baby's dad had totally dropped out of the picture in desperation I knocked on Carlos's door sobbing in labor and I asked him to go with me to the hospital he looked petrified but he nodded drove me to the hospital and stayed for the whole birth there were a couple of times where I thought he might bolt like when he asked for a chair to sit down because the room was spinning but he stayed he stayed he stayed when the nurse brought over my daughter cleaned and wrapped in a white blanket she moved her hand she moved to hand her to Carlos and said here she is Daddy yeah and I started to say that he wasn't the father just a friend but he looked at me and said yes that's me I'm the father and from that moment on he was it turns out he wasn't gay he moved in with me the day I came home from the hospital and we got married the following year here we are 20 years later and he's been the most incredible husband and father to our three kids ironically the one who looks the most like him is the one who isn't biologically his we dropped her off at College last fall and she called one day to tell us that her boyfriend had asked to take a break my husband winked at me and told her to keep her chin up because the break might lead to something incredible W caros you son of a [ __ ] what a story I uh took advantage of the woman in a vulnerable situation he absolutely did not what a creep John what a gorgeous man what a gorgeous man and what a beautiful story I don't think we're going to get a story quite that amazing but really 1324 410 any sort of Anna okay about five years ago um I was working at a public opening um a couple of guys at the sports bar um was at the pub and just eating um the cute guy on the bar uh ordered a um some calaris and I accidentally forgot his uh T sauce CU I thought he was pretty cute forgot the T forgot the T good forgot the T yep the t t t MH yep and then um my friend I said oh you got to help me out I want that guy's number she's like I'll be your wingman for the night so we're going up and down the sports bar and then she ended up getting um his number and we went out that same night and five years later we still together and we have a lovely son who's about to turn one that is a fabulous story and dreams to do come true there's not a dry eye in this studio great story I love that old right yeah six bottles of zonzo estate wine in the heart of the ARA Valley it reminds me of when I had a crush on the way remember and I just made sure that I was there when he knocked off oh yeah when you stalked later on girls we'll be over playing pool so uh I feel like it's a bit like goose and Maverick that's what I'm similar yeah yeah yeah he's definitely Maverick I'm definitely Goose um but uh yeah anyway love be old we we uh we woed the girls and we had a fantastic week one of them said oh that they having their birthday party in July if we wanted to meet them the next week later so um might have been the girl that I kissed or not can't remember anyway uh went to went to a party and uh I uh I met Lynette who's my now wife after you know 20 odd years but uh she was there in the group and didn't want to Bar of me like every every everything I tried to just bat it away Anyway by the end of the night I finally got to dance with her got her phone number spent uh 6 months just texting her and six month Michael that's great several AV she's absolutely if I could say my wife she absolutely gorgeous did you say bit be the age there was it all good all good all good very good so anyway um six months later I finally got an in I said I was coaching up at WBY she said come she lives in in I met her and then uh for 12 months so I uh every weekend I'd leave Melbourne go up bring bring her don't even know where to start S my weekend though starts you know a little bit earlier than yours and I just want to say since I've seen you last is that's when I regard the weekend if you agreed so Thursday Thursday I I went to I I have no affiliation with any restaurant but I went to the Smith Street Bistro in Smith Street sometimes brownie you just need a steak fruits and a glass of red oh man and that's what I had love the simple I love the simple statement of a steak fruit I can highly recommend it in Smith St there in Colwood ISM it was magnificent the great thing about that is it feels like you're walking on set of Mulan Rouge or something pretty FL very French and then um then I woke up to Friday morning a phone call from my how would you describe him Idiot Brother uh who he came it was Friday morning I'm driving to meet these boys to do a workout and uh he's com in on the phone this about this is what 9:00 a.m. and hang over no oh know very proud of himself he cooked an onion and anchovy pasta that I'd always recommended this Antonio cuchia recipe that I highly recommended it because because you um you can't imagine a recipe being this simple browny it's just got onions and ancho in it so that's why the first time I ever cooked it I go well how could how could this taste any good and I love it he finally cooked it like okay Wonder wonderful achievement I said did you sweat the onions cuz you're not supposed to fry them and his words were I made those onions sweat like I was a detective interviewing a crook I miss him I'm s him for ages then he said I got to buy then then it was like I want to buy a recipe book I said yeah okay we can organize that he goes it's got to have pictures I go all right mate no no point if it doesn't have pictures I'm not getting it couldn't agree with he's having an argument with himself here angry he was angry and then he said I said and he said you know what else said you know menus menus at restaurants should have pictures of them right really all ones even the even the fancy ones he go especially the fancy ones you don't even know what half the ingredients are I want to know what it looks like that's true seriously think a beautiful day with my daughter Peg yesterday a morning we're on a schedule there's a new pair of Runners that are hot to Trop remember when we were growing up it was the Reebok high top I remember clearly trying to describe how much I needed them to my mom who said no was that the precursor to the Reebok Pumps oh the pump John it was the precursor fny can I I I'll um comfort you and say I I wanted them as well I didn't get them either I didn't get them I didn't get them and uh so the new one is the Nike TN I don't know what TN stands for but are they the high top sort of cat no they're they just look like Runners to me showing my age but uh my daughter I mean these kids can research everything she knew exactly where they were what the stock was I heard her talking to Foot Locker did you finding out what sort of stock they had and then she approached me and she said I would really like these Runners she is due for runners and she's like but they're in the city and I went okay because shopping centers I you know I panic she knows that I panic she doesn't understand it but she accepts me the way I am anyway I said all right I'm going to do it I'm going to do it we're going to do it together so we went into the city got a great Park walked straight through to Foot Locker on Burke Street went in got the runners finished in about the whole thing 40 minutes from leaving my house to leaving Foot Locker that's a Cinderella story so fast everything's gone smoothly I was on that's a big deal for me that's a really big deal like I'm a tricky person so to shop in the city is a really big deal for me and I did it which was good and I didn't you know lose my mind yes and I got her the runners and she was so excited so then we're going home and I had to be home by 12 because I was going to the good food and wine show I didn't want to miss Miguel no Miguel is the bow in here on Friday was he in here he sing laba did he yeah laba was amazing we'll try and find it for you you need to hear it um anyway so as she knew I was on a on a on a on a schedule and she said look we've done this and it's only 10:40 she goes do you think and tell me if I'm pushing it I said no I'm open for ideas do you think there's time for a quick breakfast at Mario's in it's right and I checked the time and I checked our location and I said yes my daughter yes fruit of my loins we can go and have a quick breakie at Mario's which we did we ordered the minute we were there she ordered the egg bended which is her favorite I ordered the omelette with fresh tomato which is my favorite and Men you have pictures on it no sad that joint I love that joint but it lets itself down it lets itself down I also think I'm going to suggest to Mario that he the dishes and then sprays them with plastic and leaves them out the front so that you can actually see a physical representation it's a great idea got a window there get get rid of those people sitting in the window and put some put some dishes put some dishes in Mario make the onion sweat he did onions he did and uh anyway we ate our breakfast I had a very strong latte which is my order at Mario's and then we went to the car guess what there you go some good stuff I worked on that over the weekend you came in a gone a gone pun to start off the show um no it's been a disappointing two weeks salty settle down it's been disappointing two weeks we've lost a couple of games um first time we lost two and AOW for a long time so and then you're fighting people after the boxing outside Marvel is just bad Haven it well I've heard a few things I just wanted to so on the weekend for those who you lost to um Sydney Swans Y without buddy in Melbourne in Melbourne yeah that's good science is it time for a review uh no external review has G if you have a look at last year like afl's hard and we've obviously won the first 10 games and there was some people saying that um it was a pretty good start of the year for us and it was but um we've come up against two pretty good teams and last year we we sort of fell at the same time we lost the doggies um at this time last year we had a draw of Hawthorne so um it's just what the AFL season does this is way too serious I know what it is finally yes drinking with the coach in the offseason was caught up with you Maxi finally finally finally the pundits were right right you and your been with a team I've still my winning record still I've lost more than I've won so um really yeah and by about five or six games it's actually getting close for those that care about that I'm not sure if many do but um so to win Queen's birthday Neil the Neil down her game for what he means to not only our club but football and Melbourne society and Australia Society um that' be that' be a pretty cool came so what do they do this week There's normally Neil in the past has come and spoken to you uh very very motivational uh talks obviously he's a legend but he's struggling to speak now brownie Max G I really enjoyed your podcast with uh the Imperfects with Hugh and Ryan and God I don't know if anyone else has heard it in here was really um an inter Insight because we you know gas bag in here and it's all fun games but you are the captain of the Premiership team so you're a very intelligent man and obviously very well respected and what I got out of it and I've talked to my kids about it at home is you realize that the way that you were speaking to each other off the field was affecting your ability to cohesively get along yeah and I was think sicking about it coming in here thinking one of you might ask like the difference between a comedy breakfast show like this compared to like this the the environment that's set up here is to be funny and and the friendships that you guys have is built on that I think what the let down for us was from a professional point of view so if I walked in with a bad shirt I'd expect someone to say that's a bad shirt and that's okay that's like I'm not I don't live and breathe my fashion that's okay but if I dropped a mark out on the game day some made light of that that's where it cuts me down just a tiny bit and the example I used was Jake was Jake lever let's say he takes 10 intercept marks game day and has and that's a little bit of footy language but one of the best days he he can have yeah and then we get to the chain rooms before browny and his boys on the couch and get to him before his family can get to him before his friends can get to him we say something like oh but you didn't play on anybody and it brings him from 10 to 7 straight away and that's that's us doing it before we even let anyone else do it um and for that to be recognized it still happens our stuff up every single week of it like I would say something and go oh no I've done it again and I think the interesting point that you made in that podcast was that the difference between your t-shirt for example and the way you play the game is you don't you're not a fashioned guy you don't care about the T-shirt rip it rip the [ __ ] out of me over the T-shirt that's fine that doesn't hurt me but you really care about football and you really care about other things and when people rip it out of you for that that hurts yeah and and so it's just knowing the difference it's environment relationships all that stuff that helps you know what people actually care about yeah um and then you create a safer environment and hopefully they had a better performing um environment as well in this day and age sarcasm can be the death of teams absolutely particularly when it's about stuff they care about times have changed remarkably in the last in the last probably even just the last 5 to 10 years really not only 20 years but uh CU certainly culturally the locker rooms were a whole of a lot different but I still reckon all good teams all great teams which Mourne has been and hopefully they'll continue on their success they got each other's back they look after it comes from a place of love and they know that within each other as the captain of the team how have you changed that what would you have said to your teammate there in exactly the same situation when before you would have said you weren't playing on anybody what would be an alternative it's it's just conversations non like for example I I and this was in the podcast I missed my time Trail this this this year and I love running running something that I absolutely love and care about and the teammates were getting into me and it made me feel like absolute like dog I was no no good but then someone missed their run and I did the exact same thing I went up to them and said oh would you hate to run that again and I said the exact same thing and I caught myself doing it so then I apologized and said I probably shouldn't have done it then he apologized later on and then you just have these conversations um it's important that you're not walking on eggshells at a footy Club because then you start going backwards as well exactly um so it's that just constant conversations and balance can I give you an example yeah you're in wonderful form y you are on track for your undoubtly six all Australia six all Australia six all Australian um what Blazer how does it feel um how big of an honor is it to be picked for a team that never plays a game well they do don't they don't they don't they used to play in don't they used to play Ireland they used to play used to have you played you played in six so you played in you haven't played in one I end of three kids in nappies I was like I cannot change another you could practice by changing broes on the way out by the way bro Brody out there um I'm sure you've never been in this situation where you were lining up outside a strip club 15 minutes before it opened that that was yeah L up at 5:45 for 6:00 I thought it was going to be a poo story but that was a that was just a complete pivot to
