Cory Dyke spoke about the versatility of Orlando’s Pride defense I mean we're feeling great like we're just keeping the winning streak going so can't complain but we knew this was going to be a really big match and we take every match seriously but of course you know Gotham was going to be a really good opponent so we were preparing super well this week everyone was working super hard we were super focused and yeah we came in ready to play this game I mean it was huge I mean we always talk about setting the tone early and I think we did that especially with that goal like it really got us on the front foot but another big thing is not letting off the gas so I think once we got that goal we were just more hungry the second one and really kept the pressure on I mean ever since I've been here I've just tried to be a sponge and soak up everything I can from the players around me I'm blessed to play with a lot of experienced talented players so I think just playing in that environment every single day has helped me to be able to step in um wherever I need to and my Foundation coming out of Penn State has just allowed me to um have that solid technical tactical ability to be able to slot in where I can and I'm just willing to do whatever the team needs um the biggest thing for us as a backline especially is just lot of communication communication across um the back line and before of us but also to you know our Front Runners in front of us um so I think uh that was a big thing um but we prepare the same way for every game obviously we knew they had some dangerous attackers um and we wanted to take that seriously so we're always diligent with Scout but really it's holding ourselves to our own standard and what um we want to do day in and day out and so we just prepare the same way we always do like I said they have a lot of talented players and I think one thing Gotham does really well is their rotation um out wide and centrally they're very fluid team with their movement um so like I said earlier like it was just a lot of communication like just being locked in at all times everyone on the field um and I think we did a good job with that I mean I just think it speaks to the depth of this team like we just have such a talented roster um players that could play 90 minutes on any given day and I think that makes a really competitive training environment so I think just the way we're pushing ourselves um every day in training and holding each other to that high standard allows us to continue to have those I mean I'm always ready to give what the team needs and today it was a 90 minute game so I'm grateful for that um you know my uh grandpa passed away this week um and I think going into this game I just kind of wanted to dedicate it to him and I think it was really really special to be able to have today be my first you know full 90 in regular season um and feel good about that performance so I know I know he's proud of that but I think that was an extra motivator for me going into the game Kylie Strom spoke of the massive win against Gotham yeah it feels good um feels great honestly just business as usual um we know they're a really talented team um have a like really fluid in the rotations um youve really got to be on your toes head on a swivel at all times and problem solve but at the end of the day we just have to stick to our principles um and we did exactly that that's massive uh Gotham's very good at their press um they're a very aggressive team um so we knew the start of the game was really important for us um and we were able to play through them um which was really important for us um and then they had to adapt a little bit um so yeah getting those goals early and then being able to to defend for our lives in the end um they off I mean I think we just take a lot of pride in our defending and when we say defending it's not just our backline or goalkeeper it's front to back um so we just want to make things predictable um we want to lock them to one side we want to end it when it gets wide um and when we do that we have a lot of success we kind of we have a lot of options uh when it comes to our playing style obviously we can go direct and play in behind with our speed that we have and we also have players who want the ball at their feet and can get out of really tough situations so I think just trusting each other and being able to read the situations and what they give us is is so important I think that's something we're still working on and developing but um I think you can see we progressing a lot in that area it's so important I mean we we' played each other in some really tough positions you know they have a defender on their back and they still want the ball at their feet and that's just confidence in themselves confidence in each other um and Trust in each other which is so important so we just got to keep building that yeah I think every game that we're Coach Seb Hines mentioned that records are important but their focus is to win the championship playing in um is always going to be a challenging game um but it's just a testament to the players and their attitude you know we we wanted to start the game on the front four we wanted to start with intensity um and to take the lead after 20 minutes I thought we were terrific I thought we played some really good football I think the second goal epitomizes what we're trying to do um and you know adrey takes both our goals really well and then obviously towards the end you know as they're pushing more numbers forward trying to get back into the game again talk about mentality and attitude and and throwing your body on the line to keep the ball out the net was uh was brilliant to see and again it's another GRE sheet against a good opponent he cool I guess you know I don't even think about it um you know I'm just one who lives in the moment and um you know I'm I'm already thinking about the next game so yeah we've said it all all season long records are great you know the winning streak the unbeaten streak winning his coach like they're all great but you know we have an objective that we want to achieve this year yeah I've said it many of times this year you know we we conceded a lot of like goals last year and they played dividends in our standings um and so we really HED in on it uh this year you know we talked about attitude and and commitment and you can see that from the players you know even when Gotham are pushing more numbers forward and they're been braver and it's more direct play you know the players are fully prepared for those moments and they embrace it and so yeah it's it's more mentality than anything but we're also you know threatening in transition the liks of Barbara Ali adrey Marty Julie doy you know as as they commit more numbers there more space to expose them in in transition and it's unfortunate for Julie you know in that in that moment that the gold didn't stand because it was an incredible finish but yeah we say that all the time like you you have to be committed to to defending especially box and like said it's it's another kind of Che you know we will just try and continue that all season long I guess it's um yeah we always mention it at Hal time you know two Nils are dangerous score line at halim two halves are never the same and especially when we're dominating so much in the first half and creating some really good opportunities in the first half playing some really good football you know team like gos going to adjust things and I thought we handled that really well um for periods of the game um we probably didn't get the same flow as we did in the first half because you know they are pushing more numbers forward and he was pinching our Wingers a little bit further back so the transitions were a little bit you know further away but I think again it's just a testament to this team and the character of this team is that we we're making you know teams like Gotham you know a lot of international players who just come off the back of winning a gold medal having to adjust to the ways that we're playing um and so yeah to keep the likes of Crystal dun and Ros LEL um by or off the score score sheet um somewhat again is credit to the mentality of this thing congr on the win had a race today you know I was you know lock racing that moment with and I know prively today could maybe more um how's the competition between the attackers team yeah I mean it was a it was a great um moment for adre I know she's been looking forward to to getting on the scor she she's been working extremely hard um with her finishing and she she had a night tonight and it's really important that everyone pitches in you know with goals who can't just rely on you know Barbara to get goals you know you can see now SU starting to get goals Marty's got goals know Julie Ali and um adrey now so yeah it's it's healthy competition we um we decided to play adrey on the right uh tonight you know the last couple games she's played on the left in that little half space position um but tonight we felt that it was a good opportunity to play on the right hand side and she she fully took her opportunity tonight and it was pleasing to see yeah I think it's a combination of all the things you just mentioned I think yeah there's obviously a strategy to it there's um players knowing their roles and responsibilities um but I think the the stand out for me is their mentality you know their attitude um you can see the lik of M and Kylie kri of bell Cory Dy um Carson comes in um and that's just to mention the ones who played in the back line tonight but there's also players who who didn't play in the backline they're program for those moments as well so it's uh it's important that again everyone knows the roles responsibilities but also the mentality is one of the biggest keys to it you know taking the last 15 minutes like we talked about um you know embracing those moments really important because as teams are trying to get back into into the game you have to be switched on you have to concentrate um and that's solely down to their mentality we were just talking about that it's uh it's incredibly difficult because of the quality of the players you know delivery um their runs but as well it's concentration and there's going to be times where the Winger has to track with that that fallback um Gotham started to push their fullbacks really high Jess Carter and and nice W were getting really high onto our backline and then obviously the wing was pinching in onto our fullback so at times we were asking summer yat and adrey to to follow those plays because you know they're they're in dangerous positions um but yeah again part to the commitment and mentality and obviously we put ourselves in position in a position where we were leading and so there would be more break but also you have to be a threat in transition as well so from those moments if we can clear it then by Barbara or Mar High up the field then can you support attack after it but yeah it's uh it's challenging because of obviously the quality of the the
