CALIFORNIA TONIGHT. SOUTH OF BAKERSFIELD, BUT STRONG ENOUGH TO BE FELT ACROSS L.A. COUNTY. THIS IS SURVEILLANCE VIDEO FROM A LIQUOR STORE IN THE COMMUNITY OF METTLER, CLOSE TO THE EPICENTER. BOTTLES YOU SAW FALLING FROM THE SHELVES, PEOPLE RUNNING FROM THE STORE AND THE SHAKING ALSO CAPTURED BY OUR ABC SEVEN QUAKE CAM. THE SEISMOGRAPH PICKING UP STRONG ACTIVITY ALL ACROSS SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA DOWN INTO ORANGE COUNTY, EVEN REACHING SAN DIEGO COUNTY. THE EARTHQUAKE HIT AT 909 TONIGHT, CENTERED ABOUT 18 MILES SOUTHWEST OF BAKERSFIELD. THERE HAVE BEEN QUITE A FEW AFTERSHOCKS, MORE THAN TWO DOZEN SO FAR. TWO HAVE BEEN ABOVE MAGNITUDE 4.0, INCLUDING A 4.5 AFTERSHOCK JUST 45 SECONDS AFTER THE INITIAL QUAKE. SEISMOLOGIST LUCY JONES SAYS THIS IS AN ACTIVE SEQUENCE, AND THERE IS ALWAYS A 5% CHANCE THIS WAS A FORESHOCK AND A LARGER QUAKE IS TO FOLLOW AGENCIES ACROSS KERN COUNTY AND L.A. COUNTY TONIGHT DOING DAMAGE ASSESSMENT. WE HAVE LIVE TEAM COVERAGE FOR YOU TONIGHT. OUR REPORTERS FANNED OUT ALL ACROSS THE AREA AS SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA WAS STILL SHAKING. EYEWITNESS NEWS REPORTER MONICA DEANDA JOINS US LIVE FROM BURBANK, WHERE SHE'S BEEN TALKING WITH FOLKS WHO FELT THE EARTH SHAKE TONIGHT. MONICA >> YEAH, A LOT OF PEOPLE SAID THEY WERE RATTLED WHEN THIS HAPPENED. THEY WERE AT THE WALMART SHOPPING CENTER HERE OFF VICTORY PLACE. YOU COULD SEE ALL THAT'S LEFT RIGHT NOW ARE THE PEOPLE THAT ARE CHARGING THEIR EV VEHICLES. THERE'S STILL A LONG LINE OF PEOPLE HERE. WE TALKED TO SOME OF THESE DRIVERS. THEY TOLD US, YOU KNOW, SOME OF THEM DIDN'T REALLY FEEL LIKE THEY WERE IN THEIR CAR. OTHERS SAID, OH MY GOODNESS, THINGS FELT. I SAW SOME TOYS MOVE AROUND IN THE STORE. SO REALLY A LOT OF DIFFERENT REACTIONS. OTHER FOLKS TELLING US, YOU KNOW, THIS IS KIND OF WHAT WE'RE USED TO IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA. THIS IS NO BIG DEAL. BUT I'M TELLING YOU, MIXED REACTIONS ALL OVER THE PLACE. HERE'S WHAT THE PEOPLE WE SPOKE TO HAD TO SAY. >> WELL, WE WERE SITTING AT DENNY'S AND WE WERE JUST SITTING THERE AND I JUST FELT EVERYTHING SHAKING. AND I SAID, EARTHQUAKE! AND THEN IT JUST KEPT GOING. >> DID THINGS MOVE AROUND? >> NO, NOTHING MOVED AROUND. NOTHING MOVED AROUND. IT WAS JUST JUST I FELT THE SEAT SHAKING. >> WHAT WAS YOUR REACTION AFTER THAT? >> LIKE WHAT WERE YOUR FIRST THOUGHTS LIKE, OH, JUST LIKE EARTHQUAKE. BUT IT'S JUST SO NATURAL, YOU KNOW, WE HAVE THEM SO MUCH LATELY. SO I DON'T REALLY. IT JUST HAPPENED. >> YOU'RE STILL GOING ABOUT YOUR DAY? >> YEAH. >> WHAT DID YOU FEEL, >> YEAH. I I WAS ON MY PHONE AND THEN I GOT AN ALERT ON GOOGLE SAYING THERE'S GOING TO BE AN EARTHQUAKE. AND SO I WAS LIKE, I WAS JUST READY FOR IT. AND THEN IT, LIKE, SHOOK UP MY WHOLE HOUSE AND EVERYTHING. AND IT WAS JUST. YEAH, IT SHOOK UP MY WHOLE HOUSE. >> I JUST FELT MYSELF SHAKING AND LIKE, I DON'T, I DIDN'T REALLY, TELL MY MOM THAT IT HAPPENED BECAUSE, LIKE, I DIDN'T REALLY THINK IT WAS AN EARTHQUAKE THAT MUCH. WHAT DID YOU FEEL? >> I DIDN'T FEEL TO MUCH, EXCEPT I THOUGHT THE CAR WAS SHAKING AND IT WAS WINDY, AND SO I COULDN'T DISCERN WHAT IT WAS. BUT WHEN MY WIFE TEXTED ME, SHE TOLD ME IT WAS AN EARTHQUAKE. >> SO WERE YOU SURPRISED TO HEAR IT WAS AN EARTHQUAKE? >> I WAS, I WAS SURPRISED, I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT IT REGISTERED. 5.2, 5.2. THAT'S PRETTY BIG. 20 AFTERSHOCKS SO FAR. WELL, I HAVEN'T FELT ANY SINCE THAT, BUT THAT WAS A SURPRISE FOR ME. >> YOU COULD SEE ALL THE DIFFERENT REACTIONS HERE. ONE YOUNG MAN THAT WE SPOKE TO, YOU HEARD FROM, HE SAID, HEY, IT WAS THE ALERT THAT REALLY NOTIFIED ME AND GAVE ME THE HEADS UP AND OTHER PEOPLE. WE SPOKE TO TONIGHT OFF CAMERA, ALSO SAYING THAT THE ALERT THAT THEY GOT REALLY HELPED THEM JUST TAKE A FEW SECONDS TO REALIZE, PREPARE, THERE'S GOING TO BE AN EARTHQUAKE. AND THEN JUST TAKE IT ALL IN AND STAY SAFE WITH THEIR FAMILIES. SO AGAIN, THIS HAPPENED AROUND 9:00. RIGHT NOW THINGS ARE LOOKING BACK TO NORMAL. PEOPLE DECIDED, YOU KNOW WHAT, WE'RE GOING TO KEEP SHOPPING. THE LA FIRE DEPARTMENT HAS SAID THERE HAS BEEN NO INJURIES OR DAMAGES REPORTED. SO FAR TONIGHT. THEY ARE CONTINUING THEIR ASSESSMENT, GOING AROUND L.A. COUNTY TO MAKE SURE THAT THERE AGAIN, NOTHING THAT HAS BEEN STRUCTURALLY DAMAGED OR
