all right guys I had made a long video on this but I want to make a short video because I felt like the other one was a little too long I'll still leave it up so that you know others can see it if you want just look for it um maybe I'll leave the link in the description to that video but this is the short version the reason why I'm doing this because I felt like the other was like I said it was too long all right so real quick this is a modem this is a wireless router um Optimum is charging you for a modem fee where before they used to charge for a wireless router fee now the reason why they're doing this because this is provided optimal Wi-Fi so if you go around you notice this option Wi-Fi in the area and your optimal um customer you can connect to it using your your I guess email and password and you can connect to the opt-in Wi-Fi that's available areas now you're going to notice that you're going to see this the Optimum Wi-Fi in certain areas like in residential areas and that's because you're connecting to this people's homes which are providing the Optimum Wi-Fi now you get your own Wi-Fi here but there's a separate antenna that's giving you optimal Wi-Fi if you look you know if you I check my device my iPad I saw there was Optimum Wi-Fi and that's because of this I call them a button the next day explain you that this is providing optimal Wi-Fi so I confirmed it now the reason why they charging a model fee way back in the days they used to charge them a router fee to at least a router now they're giving this for free and that's the reason why because this is providing Optimum Wi-Fi and they don't want people switching this out because then they won't have out the Wi-Fi in the area they want to spread out the Wi-Fi which I get it it's cool you want to spread the Wi-Fi it's convenient for the Wi-Fi companies uh customers I don't mind sharing it's cool but the problems I have is that since you're sharing is in two different antennas providing for Optimum Wi-Fi and one for your home network is it's going to lower the bandwidth in my opinion I don't know I'm not a tech person but I'm pretty sure it's going to lower the bandwidth two it's connected to the same Hardware so that means you have other people connecting to your modem if you disconnect this unplug um unplug this the Optimum Wi-Fi is going to go away so those are the two concerns I have and I think it's unfair that they charging you um for this where before it's free when you need this to connect to the Internet so now you cannot say oh I don't want this I want this no you need this to connect to internet so they charging you for this now you wanna buy a new modem you can and avoid the um the rental fee but it's like 100 bucks and you can only use it for Optimum wherever you buy this you can use it you know your own router wireless router you can use it for any service provider so I think it's not fair and that's why they did it so like that people won't switch this out and it'll switch this out they could get their own and save after they um recoup the course for the modem and then they're still key because it's free and then oh why buy a new one this is free but it's providing um Optimum Wi-Fi for other people and it might load the bandwidth so that's the catch so I'm going to replace this so I can get my full bandwidth and not worry about any privacy concerns and I'm going to replace this and even though I'm going to have the course up front after it pays for itself you'll start saving and this is a quick video I I'm gonna try to make X I was gonna try to make it quick it's a quick video and again if you want to see the long version then you can I'm Gonna Leave the link in the description if you like this hit the thumbs up share I'm sure there's other people have the same concerns or questions and if you know the answer to my questions about the the bandwidth and the security questions just leave a comment down below I appreciate it thank you
