it's the full court press with Eric Franson and Jason Walker welcome back to the uh you know to the to the show that we're doing right now following the local teams breaking down the biggest games with in-depth analysis and team interviews there's going to be much higher expectation sense of awareness of what we bring to the table join the show by calling into 435 752 1069 or text 435 33903 3 2 1 it's the full court press touch they did [Music] [Music] it welcome on into the full court press I almost missed the bump music because somebody turned my headphones up to as loud as they can possibly be nuclear over here as Well's in here there's the thing that covers both of them all right anyway welcome on into the full court press Jason Walker Eric fransen here uh plenty to go over today a lot of college football news uh Utah NHL so they're down to six names six potential nicknames for the Utah NHL team and I won't have to call them the Utah NHL team anymore that's right and I I refuse to call them the hockey club even though that flows really well for a temporary name but it should be just that somehow it's floated up into the top six that's true we'll get into that a little bit later but to start off the show we want to welcome on some guests that we've made it a point to try and have on as many of the uh local high school Champions as we can uh coaches and even players and today we've got Ridgeline softball head coach Michael Anderson Belle Gardner pitcher and Ane Wallace who I have to apologize for pronouncing her name wrong for like an entire year uh R line softball they went 30 in one this season they won the region 11 title they were 10-0 in region play and they swept through the playoffs winning the 4A State Title Max Preps ranks Ridgeline as the number one softball team in the state of Utah and 12th nationally welcome on to the show guys thank you so guess just want to start off with 30 and one I want to ask this question maybe we'll start negative and we'll work our way up 30 and one uh can you guys name the team you lost to and the score Spanish Fork remember the score 5 to three there there he goes am I accurate it's five to three five to three so I guess kind of the the one uh I guess uh negative on there of course Spanish Fork up there they I think they were ranked third by Max Preps in the state so it's not like you lost to uh some kind of scrpt team out there but I guess just uh does that motivate you at all like losing that game or is that just a game you lost in what is overall an absolutely spectacular season I feel like part of what we talked about is the kids came back that next week and said let's just meet up at our place turn the lights on and play at 1:00 in the morning and let's do it again and so they were kind of of that mindset let's get back into what we're doing and so I don't know what did you guys think on that I think it was almost good that we lost that game CU we build up from that game yeah I think it definitely helped us it definitely showed that we weren't invincible so it made us work harder and it made us just come out stronger in the end how did that game come about did that uh was it regularly on your schedule or did it come as a hey we've got an opening let's let's we we're pretty good we want to test ourselves against somebody else who's really good too so we've played in two the last two state championships before this and so what's starting to happen now is teams don't see sardine as this end all but they actually see us as good enough team so Spanish Fork reached out to us this year and wanted to schedule a home and next year we'll go down to their place and so we picked up them and Riverton and Bingham some of those bigger schools Riverton and Bingham actually played for the state championship for 6A and so we now are kind of in that place where those more powerful schools want to play us and so they'll actually travel up here and we'll go down there and play them so you played the 5A and 6A state champions this year and also the 3A state champion oh there you go just we played grassville too you call the 2A and 1A schools too yes we yeah start calling the champions from other states like just just start going down just start making a checklist yes um so uh Annie uh you mentioned before the the show you're committed to Texas now you got one more year to play here at at uh ridgel line but just walk through the process committing to obviously a very good uh uh school I think you said they were playing for the softball National Championship you get Old Red River rivalry going there in the national championship series mhm my thought process of it's very nice going into Texas I wanted a a lot of challenge like I like the challenge so Texas is the school for me cuz I had a different offers as well but Texas was the school for me how nice is it to get that out of the way when you've got your still your senior season coming up you're you don't have to worry about everything else going on with recruiting it felt good finally committing but I also still had to keep playing my best to can to keep that scholarship so and and I mentioned this before the show too this is your second State title this year because you on ridgeline's uh basketball team I should ask how many championships do you have under your belt because obviously you've been on on these teams uh for several years now I have four right four yeah go dang hash winner so you got you got you got to fill out the the whole hand full of rings yes there you go so uh Bri uh I want to ask you this if I can reach around my monitor and see you got a little crowded room here as coming in as a freshman uh what was that like in stepping in being basically the pitcher uh pitching I think 162 Innings or something like that what was that like for you stepping in and and being the right away I mean it was really fun it was super fun to be challenged coming in and it was great to have the team behind me that I do it made it a lot easier to um accomplish what we accomplished and it's great Vin the best catcher in the state she's out there she calms me down a lot when I cuz sometimes I like to pitch on emotions and so sometimes she'll come out Cal me down but it's honestly this was a great season it was pretty fun so you mentioned pitching on emotions what is your I am angry as heck pitch oh probably just a drop ball when you agree when I get angry I just like to go straight at him just attack just all gas yeah go coach let me ask you just uh what's been fun over the last week or so as we've been talking to championship coaches uh is about putting a team together and developing a winning culture and uh we we routinely hear some similar themes but for you what what was it what has it been like for you as you've built this team team that has become a great program it's not sometimes a a a team success can be realized because you have one or two or a handful of really talented players specifically but when you see a a team continue to win over over years it's not just a few select players it's a program so what's what's it been like for you building that at ridg line you know um the interesting thing is it really took a turn for us about three years ago as a coaching staff we used to be all about calling every pitch calling every play on the field and then what happened is we stepped back and realized and started getting the kids more credit and so not only controlling our culture but also controlling what happens on the field and so like Ane will call probably 90% of the pitches that we throw and then what happens is um that rolls over into the other parts of our culture too which is it's governed and run by the kids and so the kids are the one that do the communication the kids are the ones that decide when we practice how long we go and what we do and what we had is a special group this year that was willing and wanted to work harder than probably a normal coaching staff wanted to and so these guys wanted to dig in and do some things the one thing I tell you is these two represent a lot of our culture if you go look at the end of State when we're done the best attribute these two have is the ability to lead from behind a lot of times you'll see people want to be the vocal leader out in front of everybody but the last two people we had in our line when we were shaking hands going through with the other team is these two so even though athletically and different things that they do they represent our culture which is about being about other people first before you're about yourself and so if you lead from behind that's the best way to do and so so I want to ask uh Anna and Bri kind of about that uh what it's like for you guys as players to be part of the leadership structure be leading practices be calling players cuz obviously you guys play for a lot of other teams a lot of Club teams what's that like for you as players on this team versus maybe some other teams you've been on um I like how we do it on this team because I feel like in the end we're the ones on the field so it's nice to like in practice have control of everything because you're going to have control of it on the field and it's good to trust your players I feel like when the team's player driven we end up trusting our players more to get the job done so I like that part of it yeah I agree as well like just having trust in each other and having more control of the game and yeah from a and I've always found it interesting when we talk to High School coaches there's um that that I if it's coordination or maybe communication maybe just expectation from what you're doing at the high school level and what you're hoping you get out of Club level or youth programs that kind of feed into into what ultimately gets handed off to you what what's that process been like for you to try to develop a certain standard that's now expected at uh at your school to be able to compete at a very high level so actually we have six feeder teams that we have from age 10U through 18 you don't have to play for us to play for the high school team both these kids play for other teams but we basically have some feeder stuff that comes into that so the great part about that for those kids that play there is they have the opportunity to play with each other all the time A lot of times in the summer when you meet up you're going to get together and we played a team over at CSI just this past weekend with our summer team and there's a team out of boisee which we ended up beating by eight but they were from six different high schools and so our we have a traveling team that these guys also pick up on as they come and so like Brio go play some games there but then she picked up with us probably five or six times last year and so the power of what we have for our culture is it's able to be maintained throughout the year and as weird as it is we can find 10 months in the year to play softball and so we have to leave the valley a little bit to do that but that is kind of what I think is key to it an's been with us for multiple years on that too but like these two are going with with Breeze team next week to Kansas and they play on a team out of Washington that is ranked nationally too but even with that we can still come back together and have an opportunity to learn wow it's amazing so kind of walk me through the process beginning of the year uh as a team obviously at that point you won a title a couple years back you'd been to the finals the year you know last last season coming into this season was it basically like we're going to make the title game I don't I don't know if I want to use the term you know Championship or bust but is that kind of what you guys were looking at and setting up for this season uh so we lost seven seniors last year okay and so that to me was hard so this is a brand new team I can't remember any practice that we ever talked about what happened to us last year I can't remember one practice that that happened and we kind of went clean slate and let these guys be their team with who they wanted to now I did hear from on a one time when we're playing down at Provo and we'd won the first game games two and three last year she had a little bit of trouble with some change ups and so this year she flat out said not going to happen to us and um matter of fact that was the turning point in our championship game is an a hits a change up out on an 02 count over deep Center for about 240 foot home run and that changed things so I think mentally Ane might have had that and maybe she could address that but I don't think we addressed too much of what happened to us last year we kind of went Clean Slate on that so yes an do you want to talk about that that play hitting that change you saw about this was in the championship series this year yep actually final game that sealed the game so it's game two just walk us through that play that situation kind of your mindset there well what it was going through my mind was I've been in this position before like last season but last season I just kind of wanted to hit the ball instead of like take my time and calm and be calm but this season I was calm I've been in this position I just need to go hit the runner move the runner or hit the runner in and then that's what just happened home run over Center who was your Runner that was in front of you the started the inning Bri there you go Bri so we've got Ridgeline softball head coach Michael Anderson or is it Mike Anderson I've seen I go by either okay I've seen both ways Annie Wallace and Bri Briel Gardner uh here on the full court press want to talk about a couple aspects of your team cuz you in terms of runs scored you guys were like top five like in the entire State not just 4A and then in runs allowed you were the top team in the entire State I think the next closest you were at 38 I think next closest almost double that like 69 or 70 it's just what was that like having you know one of the best offenses one of the best defenses how do you about going about setting up a team that's so balanced on you know being able to hit the ball driving runs as well as almost never allowing one um so an interesting thing just an interesting stat is this year our team set we're now number two alltime in the state for most stolen bases in a year now last year was number one for us and we're number one in the state so that and the year before we were number three so the three top are based on stealing and offensive production and so stolen bases we now hold the top three in the state of Utah all time for stolen bases but these kids come to practice and you can ask it is a we run tough practices we spend a lot of time running bases and we end the day usually by competing against each other and we play seven Innings as fast as we can and it's me pitching which is easy pitching and so there's a lot of offense when that happens so they're used to lots of offense but what happens is that scoring I think gave us the cushion and ability that no matter what happened to us on defense we could get ourselves out of that hole now there was a point there in state if you go back and look Bri actually pitched 32 consecutive scoreless Innings which is absolutely amazing and then at that point I think we only gave up two runs in the final five games but it those two things balance each other so uh on the subject of steals uh who is the best on your team um noodle that's her name Addy Hansen Hans Addy Hansen the reason why she's called noodle is because she's about as thick as a piece of spaghetti I think but that makes it so she can run faster very aerodynamic there not a lot of wind resistance to her and so she ended up this year she has 125 career stolen bases which puts her second all time in the state 132 is the record so she needed a few more she needed a few more so that's incredible um it I know we've been really highlighting the the the nature of this being a student or student L team but um there's a lot that goes into this with parents your coaching staff just the the general support that has to come together to create a team like this and have the run that you've had to um I put that in every High School situation you're going to have parents that see with their heart and it's hard for to see through things but I would also put that our program I feel like we have some of the best parents if not the best parents in the state because people sit back and they trust the process and sometimes that's the hardest thing to do my son goes to Mountain Crest and played basketball there so I sat this year and I get a chance to sit in the stands as a parent and that kind of helped me a little bit as a coach to remember what it feels like to be a parent when I'm coaching so that you can communicate with them and do those things but we have great parents that support the program it doesn't mean that everybody agrees with every time whoever starts or whoever does things but in the end I really think everybody had their ores in the water and we're rolling the same direction so I want to ask kind of maybe a sort of specific question maybe to the the players because obviously you're building a really good program here but there's obviously another very good program not too far away in be River I think of the last six state titles uh I think you both of you guys have five of them I think they have three and I think you have two now and obviously you appeared you both of you faced each other in the finals last year what's that Dynamic like between two obviously very good programs you and Bear River how do you two feel about Bear River I mean every time we play B River it's a great game so I honestly love playing them because I know I have to put my best out there so I really enjoy playing them yeah to go on with Bri it's always like a competition with them and it's nice to have like there's always a lot of fans there it's very loud and it's just great competition that's some of the funnest games Us in B what does that do for just um the level of of of play overall for region 11 you know be Rivers got a long history you're developing a very high standard as well but just the trying to elevate softball generally up here in Northern Utah what's that kind of been like as you guys observed over these last few years I feel like the competition within the valley is great because competition always raises players up and makes players better so I feel like the more competition we have in the valley the better and I feel like the competition is just slowly getting better with all with everyone in the valley I feel like everyone's putting their best on the line and it's just getting better so that's makes the whole region better so I would add I don't think we could have won State without be River because if you don't get a chance to play a team like that um if I remember right I think they had played played up till this year was the first year in 12 years they haven't been in the state championship game so for 11 years running so I'm going to tell you you know Spanish Fork is strong but I think the sister program to them that has been the state um motto or state person that we follow is Bear River and that's been a program that we've tried to follow and so to get even with them and get in the same sentence with them we needed that competition to prepare us for what happened at state the other thing I'd tell you is I feel like our overall what Bri mentioned our region is better um from Sky VI to Logan to Green Canyon to Mountain Crest every time you play those teams they want a piece of you and when you're 30 and one people are bringing their best stuff at you you know we had a 5 nothing game with Mountain Crest and we're a hit or two away there and so there's great teams in our Valley too that bring it to us and so I think it puts pressure on us but it hardens you and that makes it so you can make a state championship run you have to have those teams as you've seen realignment affect what 4A looks like I mean forever it was North versus South and I I mean I would assume that teams in southern Utah maybe have a an advantage where they can get on a field a lot quicker without having to travel but uh be River Ridgeline you guys have still been able to stay very competitive now things have changed as more schools along the wasach front how has that change the dynamic of competitive nature in 4A well it makes more difficult in the end though five of the eight remaining teams that made it the final eight the complex were from down St George and then two of them were for us there was one Regent that didn't have a team and then you had Pac and so it by having more teams it makes a little bit harder to do the thing is all year long in the RPI we were ranked behind Desert Hills the whole year and then the RPI goes dark and then we get a chance to play we play five games during that time one of those being Bingham and it really put and changed some things and so it's complex by having 26 teams right now but your power right now is probably still that way it's probably from down in that St George area to up here uh sorry Jason let me I just you're good an a let me just ask you and I'll ask the same question for Bri outside of your home field where where's what uh what field is is your favorite to play on besides my home field yes um honestly I would say Desert Hills they have a Prett really nice field their grass is very nice fence is pretty a nice distance and yeah on the other hand I'd say B River just because they always bring the fan base and their their Bark's always loud and it's I just love be River because it's always just a fun game so I would actually say these two kids love it when there's opposition I actually think they bring it harder when you got everybody on Top If You you go to Bear River game man they're lined out both sides and there's 45 banners you walk in past all their state championships and everything's red and people are yelling at you and I think that's when these kids really begin to mature is because of that environment so we ask in a one final question question here and that's just uh what's next you got next year I mean all three of you going to be back uh with Ridgeline uh we prepping for back to back three out of four what what's the situation looking like for the team going into next year you said you lost like seven seniors last year is it a similar situation or you bringing a lot of players back we lose five seniors this year but we also have an incoming class that'll have between nine and 12 freshman coming in it'll be one of the strongest classes we've ever had um I think we're at that critical moment in AO program when you win two all of a sudden you're not just somebody that got lucky one tournament but I think we're approaching that place and these two will be keystones for us to where we have a chance to do some things in the next few years that could establish us maybe lot more long time on things and so I think there's some things that are really positive right now and so I think we're barely touching what I hope we can become I'm really excited for next season because after winning two championships you're always going to get everyone's best and the Target on your back just becomes bigger and I love playing I love getting everyone's best I love playing in pressure situations and so I can't wait for next season because we're going to get the best out of everyone so it's just going to be a lot of fun games and we're going to continue to improve we're going to make the most out of every day and so I'm just super excited for next season I agree with Bri um ready to go for the fifth championship maybe six got you got another hand you got more space for more rings I like space right there why not why not Annie probably likes Rings more than she likes talking well she's got a lot of rings so man that's that's justifiable uh ridg L softball hey congratulations on a an incredible season incredible program that you guys have built best of luck next year and uh thanks many thanks to Ridgeline softball Mike Anderson an Wallace and Belle Gardner for coming on winning a championship this season very talented team I think I remember when Gardner was coming up at least I'd heard that ridgelane had this extremely talented freshman pitcher and yeah very very talented very yeah it's incredible to look at their run through the state uh tournament so many shutouts that they were able to to uh to put together string together just dominant play I mean you'd mentioned just uh how many runs scored versus how few runs allowed just incredible incredible Run for the Ridgeline softball team yeah pretty insane uh if you want to join the show via the full court press text line 435 339 0321 9315 saying a playing headphone tricks on yall yeah come into the studio and the headphones are just like somebody was messing yeah it was just really loud or maybe I bumped a dial or something made it go all the way up um I know we did wanted shift gears to college football kind of a lot of different things with college football it kind of just kept adding up to like there was one thing then there was two things then there was three things to all talk about with college football and it kind of ties back 533 texting at the end of the of yesterday's show and we kind of ended up missing it because I was uh I was very determined to talk about RSL and I also didn't see the text so oh that was part of it I didn't realize it was there otherwise we probably would have just talked about that but 533 it's saying you guys should talk about the college uh football uh 12 game schedule that was released today that was released college football playoff is that what I said you just said college football but yeah college football playoff there you go yes uh so yeah that was released and then also the uh the B season uh schedule was revealed yeah so that uh I almost thought about uh dialing in another uh another uh edition of the B full basketball or bogus game but now I got to wait cuz you've got the whole list in front of you yeah unfortunately I got to wait until you've forgotten all these different bowl games but as far as the college football playoff that will begin December 31st with the Fiesta Bowl um and then it there'll be three games on January 1st the Peach Bowl uh Rose Bowl and sugar bowl and so that's the uh the opening part of it and then uh the semifinal will be the uh the Orange Bowl on January 9th the Cotton Bowl on January 10th and then the championship on January 20th so seems a little late that's just so late but um that's the schedule to try to fit it in I don't know why they can't start those a little bit earlier but uh going with tradition tradition is as college football is yeah it's just the tradition that you end the season season with all the important games so to speak the ones that everybody talks about all the other bowl games they do their thing throughout December from like December wins the first and win the 12th the first Bowl yeah the first bowl game starts December 14th 14th okay it's off by two days 14th through they there's a couple of them that wind down right after Christmas probably like the 28th or so is probably the last one before we get to the New Year's New Year's six bowls yeah 14 then there's a little bit of Gap 17th 18th I mean pretty much every yeah they just they sprinkle them out through like two or three weeks December late December 24th several on the 26th and the 27th a bunch on the 28th yeah um but then the 30th 31st and just that week all the way through January 4th um interestingly enough the Holiday Bowl is the only one that's TBD at this point to be determined has not been announced like a date or a date it's the only bowl that does not have a date come on get your ducks in a row yeah it's June already come on don't we know what we're doing in December yeah so yeah so that's that's the the bowl in playoff schedule so there's not too much else to talk about there it's just like hey here's the bows you're going to play in them eventually there'll be I I forgot to count the balls another 88 teams or whatever somewhere between 84 and 88 teams playing in in bowl games SL college football playoff games yeah there's a bunch of them that's because it's usually somewhere between like 42 give or take uh a couple of bulls there I think last year there were 43 or 44 bulls and I don't think there are any new or bulls that went away um I don't yeah I don't think there are any new I'm just uh quickly scanning to see those that have Mountain West tie-ins so the LA Bowl December 18th uh the famous Idaho Potato Bowl December 23rd Hawaii Bowl is almost always on Christmas Eve it's still the same the New Mexico Bowl on December 28th as is the Snoop Dog Arizona Bowl presented by Jin and Juice by Dre and Snoop that's its official title now bless you uh that's on December 28th there's a few other bowls That Mountain West kind of has some tie-ins like the frisco bowl or yeah there's some milary Bowl sometimes so there's a few others here and there that they may have tie-ins but that's uh that's what it's look like the main uh bolt games that the Mountain West has has associations with yeah there you go yeah start making plans now yeah start making your plans make your plans for the uh uh if you want to be optimistic the LA Bowl plan your trips to LA and uh you said December 18th December 18th December 18th make your plans or if you're less optimistic uh make your plans for a drive up to boisee or if you want to be really pessimistic plan to do something else make a trip down to Tucson well really pessimistic is they're not going to all of December is free plan your cruise so there there's are three levels of of optimism for Aggie fans I'm making plans to be in LA in mid December making plans of being in Boise and I'm going to be on a Caribbean crw basically basically the other bit of college football news that's maybe a little more interesting and we're probably going to try and dive into this a little bit more later um try and talk to some people get some perspective some Utah State perspective on how this may impact them but something that kind of came across the the desk was that the NCAA is planning on allowing teams after there being restrictions you know forever uh about uh corporate logos basically sponsorship logos on the playing surface of football fields and potentially even patches on jerseys we may be headed in that direction but certainly at least something on the field and uh they're saying it could be worth from 3.8 million to $4.2 million a year for the highest level of schools in those power four conferences we know it's not going to be anything like that for a school like Utah State but uh it does provide an opportunity for somebody to really step up and throw some cash and have their logo on the field yeah just pain a Waffle House logo on the 25 yard line and that just bought you a five-star quarterback there you go congratulations hurricane John newold hit us up uh tagged us on on the Twitter earlier today about this and that got me thinking you know what what corporate logos might we see on Merlin olssen field certain crumble cookies come yeah that seems to be the most likely I mean they've already got their logo on the basketball court if I'm not mistaken yeah cuz I guess they've been able to do that in basketball but they couldn't in football because I guess football was just too high and mighty for that yeah I don't know it it it feels weird to me like for America being is like you talking about the capitalistic you know uh stereotype that it's Europe that has an entire culture around like you look at a team's Jersey like in soccer their Jersey you'll recognize the sponsor name on the front of the Jersey like you can't even find the team's name right like there's a Crest on there but like you know you got Ray Madrid who Real Madrid who are it's not real Madrid it's the Emirates it's the Fly Emirates yeah that's right that's that's what they are and uh you know I'm looking up the box score of Emirates I can't find them who who are the fly em who are the Emirates Fly Emirates or you know there's certainly uh there's a number of um uh high value or uh brands that that began here or have their headquarters here have become much larger crumble certainly comes to mind malof icon Blackstone is becoming a a much larger brand and they're building a massive new facility um so there's a there's a number of different corporate logos uh that could Grace Merlin olon field so that's the question do you move some of these other logos cuz the the way it would be set up is that they'd be allowed to put it at Midfield I don't know if this would like replace the Midfield logo or if it would be like above SL below um that Midfield logo and there's also the 25 yard line which right now on the 25 yard line of course there's there's the Mountain West logo Conference of course there's space to put another logo because it's on the one side of the field um basically diagonal from each other so you could fit you could fit another uh a logo in there and maybe one at Midfield I don't know of course or or does it say Merlin Olson field on the other side of that 25 yard line uh I was looking at satellite photos of Merlin ol and field for this very conversation I suddenly can't remember because I was trying to see like what's on the 25 yard line because you ask yourself that question you think oh I I was at the the stadium six or seven times last year and watch it on TV a bunch more it's like I still can't remember what the field looks like they do have there are putting limits on it as you've said now the the bylaws or at least the new rules specifically say the corporate advertisements can be placed in three spots on the field a single advertisement centered on the 50 yard line is allowed in addition to no more than two smaller flanking advertisements Elsewhere on the field so when they say centered on the 50 yard line that's like dead centered your Midfield logo which is typically the school's logo right could be a corporate logo but if you see like a bowl game or those pre early season kickoff events it's like a pre or start of season bowl game that they'll do there's like a logo sponsored logo right in the M middle of the field for those events so it could be the same thing like you're you you state logo with someone else underneath it or you Rebrand it and and that'd be fine like if you put it underneath like like it's it'd be weird like if you replace the Midfield logo of your school with a corporate sponsor like if you put the brand logo like right beneath you like okay that's yeah whatever that that happens but it would just be so weird and I I very much expect a bunch of programs to be putting corporate logos if they can get one on those 25 yard line spots because it's it's like it's an easy source of money and teams are going to be in need of money because oh suddenly we have to pay the players now so so I'm looking it up the Merlin son field is centered on the 20 yd line okay um so on the uh uh on one side well on both sides but it's so it's on the northwest side is Merlin olison and then the southeast there's the other one correct and then on the 25 yard line opposite of that is the Mountain West logo um on the other side of the field and then the flipped on the same side so so you'd probably have to move the Merlin Olson field logos if you wanted to fit one in there cuz that's scrunching it a little bit there yeah or just replace the Mountain West logos unless they have to be there I don't know is there yeah I don't probably a rule that says they have to be there well yeah probably is but um there's going to be a rearranging of the field a little bit just to make it look nice or to give the sponsor whomever it is proper value because right now the the Symmetry wouldn't really be easy to fit something else in there yeah uh 9 through and five texting in saying you could have the full court press logo on the field if the kick lands on the logo they get a shout out on the radio there we go there you go just make a phone call yes we would like to sponsor the field can you put the full court press logo out there someone catches the ball and gets tackled right on the full court press logo free popcorn for everybody there you go there you go 533 it also got on the same line I can't wait to see full court press patches on the aie football jerseys this fall people think we're loaded there we just put put it on there yeah full cor press patch uh we got to take a break we'll overdue um we come back uh we'll shift gears once again talk about Utah hockey sports you care about the full court press on Sports Talk Radio 1069 FM 1390 a.m. the [Music] [Applause] fan it's a full court press we got to go kind of quick here we got really behind on breaks talking about college football and also talking ridg lines softball we had uh Mike Anderson couple of his players on yeah that was a lot of fun celebrating their 2024 Championship uh but uh some news today I think we were mentioning uh talking a few days ago about when when would the next round of voting be for the Utah's NHL team their their team name and well we got the answer pretty quickly where they've now gone down to six names I wasn't sure they do like a full-on second round of voting Al they seem to indicate they were heading that way anyway um but they've got six names that they've narrowed it down to according to uh Smith Entertainment Group they had 520,000 votes at least they 520,000 fans participated and these six names accounted for 60% of the total votes cast because you got four votes so of all the you know add up all the all the math there and you got these six names so here are the six names if you haven't seen them already it's blizzard Hockey Club Mammoth Outlaws Venom and uh the one that sucks Yeti so those of course tell which one Jason does not want you to use your vote for that's uh let me tell you how I really feel so those are the six and uh ask this Eric out of those six which do you prefer so I wrestled with it um I my the two team the two names that I was wrestling with blizzard and outlaws and ultimately I went with blizzard um and some people think that's the worst name um it's what I like but uh but I don't know you only get to cast one vote you it was like multiple votes like these are my top four these are the four that I like you only get one vote this time so it's no ranked Choice voting here or anything yeah I am a firm proponent of ranked choice voting but yeah that's despite them having access to very Advanced you know uh systems of you know taking these polls and whatnot they didn't do rank Choice voting their whole business is built on cult they're really good at this yes but they can't do rank Choice voting I kind of like it's either Blizzard or Mammoth I think for me those are kind of my too I don't know if I can really choose between them I like most of these I just don't want to see Utah Hockey Club don't really want to see Utah Yeti uh as if it's not one of those then I'm pretty much fine with all those now 533 before we go to another quick break says Yeti does suck no need to sugarcoat it I ain't gonna but like I said I feel like it's inevitable at this point that it's going to be then so I feel like I'm going to have to come to grips with that all right one more break and we'll come well to finish out the show I want to mention at least one more champion at least the Mountain West Champion in the pole vault Logan Hammer who compet competed in the NCAA uh outdoor track and field championships yesterday he ended up finishing 16th and that makes him a second team All-American although when you heard the reaction from his coach he said he's not satisfied yeah that was the first thing that they showed up in you can find the press release on Cash Valley daily where it's just uh said he's not satisfied he's not happy he not happy about it so second team All-American definitely something to still be proud of yeah he's only a sophomore though so this is a guy who's got a long long way to go I was gonna say a long way up and it's like that almost fits too well po Balter so uh congratulations to Logan Hammer reached out to see if we can have him on the show as well we'll give you an update there and see if we can talk to uh another champion yeah um speaking of Champions Darius Brown uh Mount West regular season champ I worked out with the Cleveland Cavaliers the other day and apparently also working out with the Washington Wizards yeah I did that uh yeah it was Tuesday Wednesday I believe uh Tuesday with the Cavaliers Wednesday with the Wizards and I realized like right away like oh hey Cleveland Cavaliers they have Sam Merill and I didn't realize there's another Aggy connection with the Washington Wizards where Taylor Funk is on the g-league team the g-league affiliate of the Wizards the capital city go go now Funk played I think 33 games started 25 of them this last last year so was with their Rost with their team the whole season average like nine points something like that yeah so I guess just for mag connections got somebody's going to work out for the Boston Celtics next that's right that's where the he should work out for the Celtics because that's the other Agy connection uh anyway that's going to do it for us here today thank you so much for listening be back here on Friday with more local sports talk
