Broncos vs. Packers NFL Preseason Week 2 Preview: 10 Broncos Players To Watch For

Intro [Music] what's going on Broncos Country preseason week two just a few more hours away so I thought we could run through 10 players to watch for between the Packers and the Broncos now before we look at any of these 10 players help us reach our subscriber goal of 24,000 Subs before the game is over we are less than 400 away so let's start chip chip chipping away at that bad boy but more importantly if you're looking for a Broncos YouTube channel to keep you informed entertained you found the right spot now first player to watch we QB Battle kind of combo these first two bonick and Jared stum I would be doing you a diservice if we did not lead off with the Broncos quarterback battle so after preseason week one all eyes are on B Knicks 15 for 21 125 yards he went one touchdown no inter receptions Zack Wilson had a nice outing as well but I think at this point he's trying to solidify a roster spot more than anything else and of course Jared stum just from a box score standpoint not jumping out in a great way four for seven 37 yards one interception but I don't think that tells the story of stum I feel like B Knicks and Jared stum are neck and neck right now but obviously all eyes are on Nicks being the first round pick I don't think stum showed us anything bad in his preseason debut against the Colts but I think that whatever Nicks does STM has to do twice as good just to garnish some more attention so for me I think if B Knicks goes out there against the Packers number one defense I mean they're probably not going to put out all 11 starters of theirs but compared to going up against the Colts second and third string defense it'll be a little bit tougher against the ones for the Green Bay Packers if B Knicks can go out there and put together a solid outing that's probably going to be everything Shawn Peyton needs to see to name him his starting quarterback as early as Tuesday so it's important to factor in where in the preseason game these guys are going first team defense second team defense third team defense on the other end but for S he needs to go out there and he needs to put together the best preseason game of his career I think Shawn Peyton wants to make a decision sometime this upcoming week and so if Nicks puts together a really good game it's probably going to be him so big time quarterback battle could be coming to a close as soon as Sunday night in Denver keep an eye of course the two QBs next I Center Battle want to package all three centers together Luke wattenberg Alex forsight and Sam muster so three centers not as sexy as a battle as the two quarterbacks but still important to watch for these three centers uh Luke wattenberg Alex foresight Sam muster each had a handful of snaps in their first preseason game um I wasn't very impressed by what I saw from Luke wattenberg Alex foresight going with the second team offense he got a lot of run with it and then Sam muster kind of doing the mop-up duties as the veterans we can actually look at their PFF grades for a moment from week one um against the Indianapolis Colts as both all three centers had some ups and downs I don't know if anyone really stood out in a crazy great way wattenberg 52.8 fory 49.4 muster 70.8 but it's important to keep in mind wattenberg was going up against the first team defense whereas foresight was going up against the third and fourth string defense so those are really important details to factor in when looking at their grades but for wattenberg a guy that started started to run away with the starting center Gig and to probably put together the biggest stinker of all three maybe you can make an argument for fory but yeah this Center Battle is far from over so kind of putting a bow on the first five guys to watch for no pun intended who do you think is going to be the week one starter that's the question I'm trying to spit out here Jared stum or Bo Nicks get in the comment section right now give me your best prediction I was initially thinking stum because it was his job to lose and up until that first preseason game I don't think we saw anything out of B Knicks that would indicate he'd be the clear-cut starter for week one but after the game he had in Indianapolis he adds on a second really good outing in at home against Green Bay and it's likely going to be him but when it comes to the center battle I don't think that battle is going to have an ending after week two of the preseason I could see that battle going towards the start of the regular season right that can be something that bleeds into post roster cutdown day when the coach is still trying to get the best possible Center out there for this team and that might require some extra practices and all three preseason games so I would expect a quarterback decision to be made after two preseason games but I don't think we're going to see a center decision made until after all three preseason games six player to Player To Watch watch for we'll kind of run through the back nine back five here kind of quickly running back s Ma perine I think he's fighting for a roster spot after the turnover he caused in week one of the preseason and with how good audri gem looked and Jalil mofin like if you can get the receiving element from sadre handed off to Jalil and the short yardage goal line pass protection duties handed off to AEM what's perine's role on this offense plus Blake Watson the udfa running back was running all over the field so perine definitely needs to have a good game otherwise he could be on the chopping block seven and eight I want to combo Riley moss and deari matthysse these two guys are fighting for that second starting cornerback role Levi Wallace has been battling an injury for over a week at this point costing him valuable practices and Reps for that starting gig opposite of Pat ceran I would keep an eye on Riley Moss he he seems to have the slight Edge over matthys for that CB2 job but definitely another battle to watch for that's up in the air at the moment number nine I'm going to go with linebacker Cody Barton he was running alongside Alex Singleton with that first team defense and that's probably the final battle to keep an eye on going into this preseason Showdown him and Jonas Griffith going for that second starting inside linebacker role I think it's going to be Cody Bens but we've got one to two more preseason games to decide it so keep an eye on him as well and then number 10 I'm just going to toss out wide receiver Marvin Mims he's not battling for a roster spot he's not really battling for a like starting role but I do want to see a little bit more from Marvin Mims he had a good touchdown in the preseason opener against the Colts but for a guy that's slated to be this team's wide receiver too after kland Sutton for how deep he played into that preseason game I'd like to see a little bit more out of Marvin Mims and hopefully we get a little bit more as maybe he was shaking some of the Russ and the cobwebs off after that first preseason game so hopefully we'll get a better showing from Marvin Mims because I just feel like we have big expectations for him so far this year and I need to see a little bit more of that in the preseason now speaking of Watch Party the preseason we're going to be live in a few hours for our pre-season watch party so come hang
