if this team has an offense they might make some noise that's a big if now Hawkeye Nation is excited today Iowa beats Illinois State 40 to nothing Iowa with 462 yards of offense and most of that was in the second half what could they have done if they had done it well for 60 Minutes 462 yards in one game Iowa has not had that kind of offensive productivity in a single game in five years but before we start naming streets after Iowa's new offensive coordinator do it to somebody better than Illinois State go to Columbus on October the 5th and see if you can put a 40 Burger on the Buckey see if you can do it to the Washington Huskies on October 12th see if you can do it to UCLA on November the 8th out in California but here's the thing you have to remember too there's a bunch of teams that I was going to play again this year that they beat last year and Iowa didn't need 40 points to beat him they beat Wisconsin and only needed 15 they beat Northwestern and only needed 10 and they beat Nebraska and only needed 13 it only took 20 points to beat Iowa State last year they only needed 26 to beat Michigan State they're playing all of those teams again and if this team's got an offense those games will be victories again this year and they will be blowouts if the defense holds up so a few things to get excited about do it against somebody who's better and then get on the hype train in the first half it did not look good six nothing and that offense did not look any better than it had last year in the second half it was a lot better so Iowa State Troy and Minnesota are your next three if the defense is as good as it was a year ago and if they can play the way they played today offensively they'll win those three games easily they should barring of course injury you knock on wood Iowa had a lot of trouble last year with injuries then you look at October the 5th and a trip to Columbus and that will be the big test but it certainly looks good out of the gate for the Iowa Hawkeyes winning their opener 40 to nothing Iowa is undefeated Florida isn't Clemson isn't yeah it's all in how you spin it so the big game Iowa State next week Iowa State winning today 2 21-3 that game was not as impressive as the score would perhaps indicate North Dakota left some opportunities on the field that game could have been a lot closer so next week Iowa and Iowa State both of those teams playing someone next week a lot better than who they played this week so let the hype begin here in the state of Iowa college football is back something to take our minds off of politics I'm all for it this is life with thunder on YouTube
