Jordan child's coach is slamming cheating claims amid the bronze medal controversy after the Olympic gymnast was awarded a bronze medal for her floor final following a score inquiry submitted by her team which ended up bumping Romania's Anna barbosu from the podium Jordan's coach Cecil K quo Landy is Now setting the record straight the Team USA gymnastics coach responds after someone comments on one of her posts post implying that the judges cheated so Jordan could win Cecile replies on her August 6th Instagram post quote I shouldn't have to explain but I will once Jordan's highest possible start value on floor is a 5.9 at qualifications and team finals she received a 5.8 and we didn't question it because we saw that not all elements were completed Jordan originally placed fifth with a score of 13. 666 but her coaches submitted a score inquiry requesting the judges review a dance element known as a Tor full or a split leap with a 1.5 turn although Jordan did not receive full credit for the tour toé full when she performed it during qualifications or the Team final her coaches felt she did fully rotate the turn during the individual finals after a brief deliberation the judges agreed crediting Jordan for the lead which also raised her difficulty score increasing her overall score to a 1.76 6 which was just high enough to surpass Anna who had a 13.7 Cecile further explains in the comments quote during floor finals we thought it was better and being placed fifth with nothing to lose I sent the inquiry so I wouldn't regret not asking I didn't think it would be accepted and at my surprise it was Cecile who is an Olympian herself and competed in the 1996 games in Atlanta makes it clear that she was just doing her job as a coach adding quote Jordan won this bronze medal and didn't steal anything from anyone I simply did my job and fought for my athlete do I feel bad for the Romanian athlete of course I do it was so sad and heartbreaking to see but it is the sport you don't have to like it but you do have to respect the outcome and more importantly respect Jordan and not drag her down because you disagree she earned that bronze medal her first individual Olympic medal and I couldn't be more proud and excited [Music]
