The US Food and Drug administration has approved a new COVID-19 vaccine that specifically targets the KP 0.2 strain of the sub variant of the Omicron variant. The approved vaccines are made by Pfizer and Moderna. They'll be available for anyone older than six months old. The vaccine manufacturers say they should be available within the next week and these come right in time for respiratory illnesses rising. U of L health says the timing of these news vaccines is really good because it coincides with flu vaccine distribution. So those who want to can get them both. At the same time, you can get, you can get both vaccines, both the influenza and the COVID vaccine. At the same time, it's been shown to be safe and effective. U of L health says anyone who hasn't had COVID within the last three months, anyone with chronic health conditions or anyone who is elderly or pregnant should strongly consider getting this vaccine.
