Strategist Reacts: Dana Bash and CNN's Trash Interview with Kamala Harris, Tim Walz

Teamwork stupid this is dumb I don't like it I don't like it I don't like it I'm going look at cat videos [Music] served hello beautiful people well you know what they say teamwork make the dream work so like comment and most importantly subscribe and help this channel get to 10,000 thank you and enjoy the CNN is Not the Best video CNN of all the news networks particularly cable news has the worst YouTube page content layout video format lack of content on YouTube is really so noticeable when compared to other networks uh in general CNN is not my preference and uh I would have preferred that the that the first Prime Time interview not be on CNN I know the debate is going to be on ABC if it happens so the interview probably wasn't going to go there so that there was no appearance of some kind of favoritism um but certainly there are other major networks where this interview could have taken place so you know unfortunate but it is what it is underway here in Georgia you have First Question Dana less time to make your case to voters than any candidate in modern American history the voters are really eager to hear what your plans are if you are elected what would you do on day one in the White House well there are a number of things I will tell you first and foremost one of my highest priorities is to do I'm going to be super picky from a from a media perspective the first question you should know you should know you should be able to just rattle that off with full eye contact to the to the subject of the interview without having to refer to the cards in front of you you should just know the first question by heart do what we can to support for a new way forward um in a way that generations of Americans have been fueled by by hope and by optimism I think sadly in the last decade um we have had in the former president someone who is really been pushing an agenda if you're on patreon we've had had a whole conversation about I think I feel and when it's used passively and when it's used authoritatively and this would be an example of an authoritative use of I think I feel and an environment specifically because their groceries were less expensive housing was more affordable When Donald Trump was President well let's start with the fact that when Joe Biden and I came in office during the height of a pandemic we saw over 10 million jobs were lost uh people I I mean literally we were all tracking the numbers hundreds of people a day were dying because of covid um the economy had crashed in large part all of Well There's Your Media Bias that because of mismanagement by Donald Trump of that crisis when we came in our highest priority was to do what we could to rescue America and I take issue with that absolute statement that Dana Bash made um because she could have actually pointed out these very things that it was Donald Trump's um economic and other policies that actually put the country in the position that it is in with regards to inflation and just everyday cost of living but to make that that absolute statement to just summarily suggest that all of our lives were better and cheaper under Donald Trump that is a false equivalency today we know that we have inflation the world but you are right Validation Tactic prices in particular for groceries are still too high the American people know what I know it validation is a really great tactic for any kind of communication um and and Comm La started validating as this series of questions got underway she was nodding her head yep uhhuh looking appropriately interested and concerned and then here she is validating again you're right um instead of just being you know argumentative because she knows she has an opportunity to expound on a more nuanced answer which is why my agenda includes what for firsttime home buyers so they can just have enough to put a down payment on a home which is part of the American dream and their aspiration but do it in a way that allows them to actually get on the path to achieving that goal and that dream so you have been vice president for three and a half years the steps that you're talking about now why haven't you done them already well first of all we had to recover as an economy and we have done that I'm very proud of the work that we have done that has brought inflation down to less than 3% the work that we have done to cap the cost of insulin at $35 a month for seniors Donald Trump said he was going to do a number of things including allowing this is a good pivot because Dana Bash knows the answer to this Pivot and Nuance question um and she's pulling from two pots at one time and mixing the issue it is um it is a tricky position for the vice president to be in because she's not the president of the United States so the answer to the question is Dana I'm not the president of the United States and you know so now we have to talk about what the Biden Administration has and has not done so Kamala is pivoting to the things that the Biden Administration has done well and that will have a lasting impact I feel pretty confident based on the vice president's um debate and communication skill level that she's going to come back to the to the point of the question because rule number one for an interview or or a debate is answer the question that was asked Medicare to negotiate drug prices hundreds of dollars up to thousands of dollars a month for her insulin she's not doing that anymore you maintain biomics is a success I maintain that when we do the work of bringing down FFS Dana prescription medication for the American people including capping the cost of the annual cost of prescription medication for seniors at $2,000 when we do what we did stand on some key policy issues uh energy is a big one when you were in Congress you supported the green New Deal and in 2019 you said quote there is no question I'm in favor of banning fracking fracking as you know is a pretty big issue particularly in your must-win state of Pennsylvania do you still want to ban fracking no and I made that clear on the debate stage in 20120 that I would not ban fracking as vice president I did not ban fracking as president I will not ban fracking in 2019 I believe uh in a town hall you said you were asked would you commit to implementing a federal ban on fracking on your first day in office and you said there's no question I'm in favor of banning fracking so yes C'mon Lady I hate this [ __ ] this is why I don't watch CNN and this is why I don't actually watch the news in general I read and I read transcripts of things question asked question answered kamla also inserted a date I made it clear in 2020 Dana's rebuttal is well let's go back to what she said in 2019 lady so it changed in the in that campaign in 2020 I made very clear where I stand we are in to guard against what is a clear crisis in terms of the climate and to do that we can do what we have accomplished th I'm looking at the lower third Harris defends policy reversals I just think that's bity [ __ ] I think it is unnecessarily suggestive um and while I know Dana wants to be taken seriously as a a journalist even though I don't necessarily know or think that she produces any individual independent investigative reporting CNN loves to be performative in its uh presentation of the news and so I see the performance of a serious interview far the inflation reduction from my experience as Vice President we can do it without Banning fracking in fact Dana Dana excuse me um I cast the type well I've been corrected Dan Pointless Questions okay so for everybody who's probably already hopped in the comments Kamala has corrected me Dana I'm I'm on it breaking boat yeah I just don't like try attempting to repeat pointless questions when the original question has already been d corly answered there was no ambiguity in kamala's answer but and I understand this is an important issue in in States like Pennsylvania but she gave a clear concise answer three times in a row Unprepared Dana? HOW?! and Dana by my eye is performing being hard-hitting deals with that affects the southern border of the US during the Biden Harris Administration there were record numbers of illegal border crossings why did the Biden Harris Administration wait three and a half years to implement again I'm just super surprised I mean obviously you're going to have notes but I am just super surprised that she is relying on them as heavily as she is this in interview has been planned for at least a week the questions should have been set several days before and they basically should have been committed to memory this part of being an effective interviewer an effective interviewer and a trusted voice of in Integrity for fairness and accuracy is literally how you are physically engaging the the subject of the interview and consistent eye contact is one of those things it you you ask the question you're listening to the answer to see if you have a follow-up question which you should already have a sense of what your follow-up questions are going to be based on what the answer could be and then you as the interviewer should be moving on to the next question yourself while the subjects of the interview are speaking so that you are yep okay I'm on point I know ex okay I know that question and then you resume the eye contact conversation and also presence with the subject so this is CNN if I can do that in my living room I'm just really not impressed with Dana sweeping Asylum restrictions the other thing is when the subject of the interview has to correct you on the accuracies of your question I mean we're just a few qu we're 10 minutes in and you're stumbling Southern countries like sounded like you were trying to avoid making a bias statement which was not the case but it sounded that way sounded like she was trying to avoid saying something particular like Mexicans um South American you know what I mean but she lost the wording or didn't have it to begin with and the vice president was like you're talking about this oh yeah yes as a matter of fact I am responsible for that come on Dana Dre get up Drake of immigrants coming from that region about uh something that you said in 2019 when you first ran there was a debate you raised your hand when asked whether or not uh the Border should be decriminalized do you still believe that should vote I understand why Dana Don't Insult the Audience is going back to 2019 so much because um many people don't pay attention to presidential candidates unless they're running for office they're not paying attention to you know the careers of of politicians so I understand why she is doing that because for a lot of people their last frame of reference for kamala's uh policy positions was in 2019 however comma no pun intended um the vice president is now on the trail she has a freaking rally every day the platform message is out there and so a lot of this could be instead of again I understand why she's going back to 2019 but at the same time it makes her look completely unprepared and ignorant to what exactly is happening today so that's why I'm a little bit irritated because there's a there's a method to be able to balance that in 2019 on the debate stage you said this yesterday in Georgia you said that explain to the American people why you changed that mind why you changed your mind why that adjustment has been made from the last time you ran for president to right now instead of just like acting like the camp campaign Trail and the campaign messages don't exist or this is like the very first time they're being unveiled that's ridiculous and again I understand the 2019 reference but for me I'm inside my head I'm continually like are you not paying attention you don't want to sound or present present yourself as completely ignorant just because you are making the assumption that your audience is and I don't think you should ever insult the intelligence of your audience I think you should lay out a clear and compelling story that brings them from the then to the now I want to ask you about your opponent Donald Trump um I was a little Absa FCKN Lutely Pathetic Dana bit surprised people might be surprised to hear that you have never interacted with him met him face to face that's going to change soon but what I want to ask you about is what he said last month he suggested that you happened to turn black recently for political purposes questioning a core partk of your identity yeah any same old tired Playbook next question please that's it that's it okay um first of all she didn't even ask a question she just put that out there and left it there which tells me she wasn't even comfortable asking a question that's another thing that I'm picking up in this Dynamic is you don't want to have an interviewer who is intimidated by the subject and yes I understand it is the current sitting Vice President of the United States who you know may very well become the president of the United States of America all the more reason why you have to have somebody sitting there who is confident in their voice in their words in their word choice in their questions in their physical you know interaction um and can ask questions regardless of their own feelings and I don't think Dana is entirely comfortable with the seat that she is sitting in across from the particular woman that she's sitting across from that's a pathetic excuse of a question um let's talk about some foreign policy uh issues that would be on your plate if you become commander-in-chief uh President Biden has tried unsuccessfully uh to end the war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza he's been doing it for months and months along with again this is willful Simple Dana ignorance on the part of CNN it is not up there are some things that are up to the United States don't get it twisted but it is not up to the United States of America to end the war in Gaza they cannot just snap their fingers and have it be over so for a major media outlet that is supposed to be you know unbiased and fact-based a lot of these questions don't even aren't even rooted in that she will split a hair she will cut off a fact of a situation um to present an issue in a very specific way because I guess entertainment value but not journalism two different things happening here you would you do anything differently for example done this war must end in the and we must get a deal that is about getting the hostages out I've met with the families of the American hostages let's get the hostage I could be wrong here but I feel like Dana's follow-up question is going to be about arms I would just like to point out that this is not the president of the United States of America and the arms deal and every other you know diplomatic and policy tendril between the United States Israel and other nations in the region is much more complicated than the simplified [ __ ] Dana is laying down right now I and listen there's one argument that says you know well the American people don't pay attention to that level of nuance well if you presented it they would again don't insult the intelligence of your audience and don't underestimate their capability willingness or desire for factual nuanced information especially on an issue as critical as this that the American people have shown overwhelmingly that they care about that they are opposed to and that the vice president has signaled her pivot point is let's get the ceasefire done but no change showing love for me or it's an attack on my dog uh I'm not going to do that and the one thing I'll never do is I'll never demean another member's service in any way I never have uh and I never will I just one other question because again this is all new mean this was not however many days ago this was not either of your bingo cards it's not that new Dana we've all been paying attention to the words that have been coming out of these folks mouths for fun [ __ ] Is it Over Yet sake I'm trying to check YouTube ahead of time to see if there is a part 4 I pray to God that this is almost over uh that you had said that you and your wife used IVF but it turned out you used a different kind of fertility in order to have children and then when you ran for congress in 2006 your campaign repeatedly made false statements about a 1995 arrest for drun and reckless Fake Controversy driving what do you say to voters who aren't sure whether they can take you at your word well I've been very public I think they can see uh my students come out uh former folks I've served with and and they do they vouch for me these aren't real controversies th this is what trips me out this is this is the hardest thing she's got to ask these people these things are not controversies these are questions and issues and statements that have been addressed already and so for CNN to assume that everybody is you know a rock living under a rock living under a rock and the first time that they're being exposed to this [ __ ] is on CNN is laughable like this is if I if I you know okay it I'm Over It does not appear to be that there is a part four thank God for that but I'm on threads I certainly own my mistakes when I make them the one thing I'll tell you is they know that record they've seen that I've taught thousands of students I've been out there and um I I won't apologize for piing passionately whether it's guns in schools or protecting of Reproductive Rights uh the contrast could not be clear between what we're running against the vice president's position on this has been clear and um I think most Americans get it if NAILED IT you've been through that um I don't think they're cutting hairs on IVF or IUI I think what they're cutting hairs on is an abortion ban and the ability to be able to deny families the chance to have a beautiful child great pivot Governor walls oh for me that is the moment of the interview so far it took me to getting to the third video it looks like we're about 7 minutes from being done that that is the pivot that's the strong point of the interview for me this is Dil I'm still on threats okay yeah vice president Harris you were a very staunch defender of President Biden's capacity to serve another four years right after the debate you insisted that President Biden is extraordinarily strong given where we are now do you have any regrets about what you told the American people no not Really, Dana?! at all not at all I have um does she really expect him to shade Joe Biden the current president of the United States of America who she serves under as Vice President of the United States of America you want to change your position on that since you're now running for well he's no longer running so she certainly isn't going to be you know calling his cogn abilities into question and again he's the current president and she's the vice president so she's still not going to be calling his cognitive abilities into question stupid this is dumb I don't like it I don't like it I don't like it I'm going to look at cat videos served with President Biden um served as vice president to Joe Biden and two I'm so proud to be running with Tim Walls for president of the United States and to bring America what I Kamala's Also Over It believe the American people deserve which is a new way forward and turn the page on the last decade of what I believe has been um contrary to where the spirit of our country really lies with the Okay so we've got a little bit over five minutes and that answer right there that was an in end of interview answer the vice president is as over it as I am oh God last decade of course the I believe most Americans are which is to believe that the true measure of the strength of a leader is based on who you lift up that's what's at stake as much as any other detail that we could discuss in this election that was a great one and again these are end of interview you know play the triumphant Music Answers she's over it this is weak sauce because we haven't had a chance to to talk I'm just curious saying on President Biden when he called do you guys follow the UPS
