this series win is one of the biggest the Yankees have had in quite a while and it's because this team finally has some fight what's going on guys the king of 161st Street I'm back with another video and in game one the Yankees fall behind early what do they do they use a combination of small ball and a big long ball to fight to get a comfortable win game two was the Seth Lugo show he was dominant he was great props to him sometimes you have to tip the cap game three Louis heel did not have it at all his stuff was flat his fast ball had no life slider was hanging his change up wasn't breaking hard it was a very off night for him walking two guys in the beginning of the game on eight straight balls to load the bases he had to fight to get out of that inning and then moving forward he had to fight to only give up one run through five innings that was a start that proves to me Lis heel has what it takes to be a great pitcher whether it's in the bullpen or it's in this rotation he has what it takes to be a great pitcher in this league the Yankees offense was stagnant through this night carrying over what Seth Lugo did and then Juan SoDo comes up and fouls a ball off his leg hobbles around Yankees fans hold the collective breath thinking there's a chance he has to get pulled from this game Juan SoDo stayed in the game and two pitches later hits one into the bleachers the bleachers are a very long way so the fact that he was able to get enough power without having his front leg at all is absolutely insane that puts us back in the game then we go into Extra Innings tied at three Jake cousins has his stuff kind of gets screwed over because in the ninth he picked off Tommy fam while he had Bobby wit Junior in a two- strike count meaning Bobby Whit Jr second place in Al MVP been closer to first place Since Aaron judge has been struggling lately he gets a fresh new count while seeing what Jake cousins has he ended up giving up these runs off of off of a couple wild pitches trying to get Whit and Salvador Perez out Yankees are down 4 to3 then you see some small ball from the New York Yankees Oswaldo Cabrera lays down a bunt not a particularly good one as the bunt was popped up but the pitcher not able to get itd baseman has to charge in easily allowing vulpi to go to third base Austin Wells then pinch hits for Jose trino in an interesting situation because Austin Wells usually sits against lefties they bring in a lefty and now he's pinch hitting for Jose trino a very contact oriented clutch righty catcher but it shows the confidence that Aron Boon has in the bat of Austin Wells as he does his job he's able to get it just deep enough and with a bad throw from Left Field the Yankees tie this game the next inning Luke Weaver comes in absolutely dominates this Royals lineup made it look easy ghost Runner doesn't move from second base then we get to the bottom of the 11th with glabber Torres starting off at second base as the ghost Runner he is replaced by John birdie welcome back Speed Demon Juan SoDo was able to get a ground ball to move him over they walk Aaron judge to bring up Jazz Chisum Jr Aaron judge makes the very responsible play of taking second base when it is open they had the infield in they were not going to cover second base Jazz takes the first pitch outside they were going to try and make him Chase he gets a low pitch called to strike against him then gets a pitch on the outside part of the plate and he takes it where it came from he hits it the other way Bobby wit Jr comes this close to making it Superman type play but everything had to go right and the throw was way off Yankees win this game they win this series and showed that they finally have a backbone through a lot of July and a lot of August to be fair this team did not have a backbone we were losing games to Chicago we were losing series to Washington this team needed some fight because having the Orioles not Tak advantage of some of the shortcomings the Yankees have it's crucial that we start taking advantage of the oral shortcoming and beating teams like Kansas City is a huge step towards that and part of that backbone is coming in the name of jazz Chism Jr Jazz has dealt with a lot of criticism a lot of it unwarranted over the past couple years he got ridiculed for getting the MLB the Show 23 cover after making the allstar team in 2022 because because he didn't play long enough even though San Diego Studios has a record of putting guys who have good runs in seasons on the cover as they had yaso Pig on the MLB the Show 15 cover after his two-month stretch in 2014 where he went absolutely ballistic that's neither here nor there he then goes on to the pivot podcast before this season and ripped his former captain in Miguel Roos for essentially bullying him everyone came to the defense of Miguel Roa he's the nicest player ever jazz is making all this up he's only complaining cuz he missed a he missed a meeting cuz he was sleeping at work it's crazy absolutely insane even as recently as right before the trade happened there were reports that the Yankees had concerns about his character all I've seen out of jazz is that he seems like one of the best teammates in that locker room and he knows how to fight in game playing third base for the first time in his career and he's able to make dazzling plays like he did in game three of the series comes up in the B bottom of the 11 has a job to do doesn't do too much he doesn't he has provided a spark to this team I have not seen many guys do and that begs the question is jazz Chisum the best midseason trade acquisition in the Yankees modern era now look I'm not saying he's the best trade acquisition because yes Juan SoDo came in a trade Babe Ruth came in a trade those were both offseason trade where they started the season in pin stripes Jazz Chisum had to switch locker rooms move cities and now has 2 months to prove his worth and that's the type of trade I'm talking about is jazz Chism the best midseason trade acquisition ever because he has provided the type of spark that I haven't seen since Gary Sanchez in 2016 but mind you Gary Sanchez was called up to replace an old Austin roine as the Yankees were selling off all their players selling aalis Chapman Andrew Miller leaving only Delan Banis in that Bullpen calling up some of their young guys and that included Gary Sanchez so in competition for this title of best midseason trade acquisition Jazz chisms going up against Bobby Abu from 2006 who was a great player for the Yankees all the way through 2008 at times was not not the best Fielder he was able to hit the cover off the ball he ended that 2006 season when he got traded to the Yankees with seven home runs and 42 RBI to end his season with a 297 average and 15 home runs with 107 RBI it's going to be hard to beat that but even earlier than that the Yankees made a trade acquisition for slugger David Justice David Justice coming in in 2000 in 78 eight games 20 home runs 60 RBI with a 305 average helping the Yankees win the World Series over the me in that season another awesome trade from Brian Cashman and the New York Yankees to help spark something in this locker room then on the pitching side you have David Con coming in July 28th 1995 helping the Yankees win four championships in 5 years David Cohen was a massive part of the Yankees history especially in the '90s decade then you have Jazz chisel now obviously in terms of a whole season resume he he doesn't compare to the guys like justice or David K or even Bobby Abra but if he has a good postseason and he's able to capture this team's first championship in 14 years I think he could have an argument to be up there of course he'd have to maintain a long resume in order to beat out the likes of David con who won four championships with this team but the fact that he's even in the conversation with some of those guys tells you just how impactful he has been since coming over from Miami and he has done it with a smile on his face the entire time it seems like he is having the time of his absolute life that's a breath of fresh air for me seeing him show emotion you don't see that out of guys like Aaron judge or J Carlos Stanton they'll maintain a stoic face no matter what is going on you may not know what they just did if I showed you two clips of Aaron judge either hitting a home run or hitting a Fly ball I don't think you'd be able to tell the difference but with jazz he definitely gives you the type of motion where you know what he just did to you and I think that locker room is starting to reciprocate that as well it seems like the team is rallying around Jazz Chism Jr and that seems to be what's giving this team fight is that they have a group that they are willing to fight for it going into October baseball we need to fight cuz do we have the most talented top to bottom roster in the league no that probably goes to Los Angeles and there are some other teams overall the yanies do not have the best top to bottom roster but with guys like judge and SoDo and adding guys like jazz Austin Wells becoming a rookie of the year favorite this team has a chance to do something special and I don't know if this would have happened if it wasn't for the likes of jazz Chism junor anyways guys that is it for me hopefully you
