In the Piscataqua River Bridge between Portsmouth and Kittery was closed for several hours this morning. The reason a man having a mental health crisis. Police say he jumped over some jersey barriers and managed to climb down to the catwalks that crisscross underneath the deck of the bridge. Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss says at one point the man almost fell from the catwalk. He would have plunged about 100 feet to the water below. Eventually officers got the man to surrender. And the bridge was reopened. He was taken into protective custody and transported to a hospital for evaluation.
