this is a CBS News Detroit update good morning I'm Sandra Ali here's a look at your top headlines on this Wednesday this morning cleanup is underway across Metro Detroit after storms left a trail of damage in their wake you're taking a look at St Clair Shores right now after that area was hit yesterday the severe weather led to Falling trees and down power lines resulting in power outages for hundreds of thousands of DTE customers the company says right now they're working around the clock also bringing an outside res sources to try to help DTE officials said they had more than a thousand reports of down lines on Tuesday night power lines are not always arcing and sparking and making a lot of noise power lines that are really just sitting there quiet are equally as dangerous as those that are presenting themselves as such so please consider all wires that are on the ground live and extremely dangerous DTE officials say if you do see down lines you want to stay at least 25 ft away that's the length of school bus and then of course call 9 911 and Report any to DTE the Shelby Township man accused of trying to kidnap a 7-year-old girl in Sterling Heights is due back in court later today 23-year-old Andy Bala has been arraigned in connection with that attempted kidnapping as well as the unlawful imprisonment of a 15-year-old girl in Clinton Township both incidents happened about an hour apart roughly two weeks ago a former employee of the Detroit Marriott has now filed a lawsuit against the hotel saying a manager sexually assaulted her derba corala has now been charged with criminal sexual conduct and is due back in court today according to that lawsuit the assault happened after he allegedly invited her to his hotel room the woman says corala told her other employees would be there she later filed a police report and a rape kit was ultimately used by authorities and that led to his arrest former president Trump facing a new Federal indictment today related to allegations he tried to illegally interfere with the last election the revised charging document comes in light of the recent US Supreme Court decision granting president's immunity for official acts all of this comes less than 10 weeks before the 2024 election Trump has repeatedly denied all wrongdoing let's go ahead and check in next weather meteorologist Troy Bridges for a look at that Wednesday forecast Troy good morning good morning Sandra a better day today although we will have a few isolated storms we're not going to be dealing with as much storess as we did yesterday and the temperature is not quite as hot yesterday we got into the mid90s for many areas of course feeling like the triple digits today mid 80s for afternoon highs now the humidity sticks around and again we will have a few isolated storms but that risk for widespread severe storms is not there like we saw yesterday which is some good news there is next weather future cast and again through the afternoon a few of those showers and storms will bubble up we'll have a couple of isolated storms that could be strong with some strong wind gusts much like we have had late in the day yesterday that led to those power outages so we're going to be tracking that very carefully into the next several days rain chances do stick around it does look like Friday will be the day where we have a greater risk of stronger storms that will be more widely scattered high temperatures today not nearly as hot as yesterday actually ranging from the 70s to the 80s we'll get up to 86 today in Detroit 82 tomorrow then 90 on Friday with those rain chances increasing but just in time for the holiday weekend we are cooling down and we're seeing rain chances taper off look at that high on your Sunday 80° then 72 Sandra by Labor Day on Monday 73 by next Tuesday Troy thank you that's a look at your headlines we'll be back later today covering stories that matter to you on air and streaming on the CBS News app in Pluto TV [Music]
