prediction series and today we head to Columbia South Carolina to break down the Gamecocks all right so uh this is a South Carolina team that is in year four under Shane Beamer and so the first two years for Shane Beamer were actually pretty decent but last year they took a step back and um and despite all that they had returning uh you know at that time now they lose quite a bit of course they lost Spencer Rattler their quarterback for the last two years he's gone to the uh to the NFL they also lost juice Wells and Xavier Leed uh so some pretty good weapons for uh for the Gamecock so now the question is who's going to be the quarterback well uh looks like they will be turning to Lenoris sers who got some action last year and he's got that dual threat capability can he translate that onto the field this year they also bring bring back Debo Williams and odonald fortun uh for South Carolina and and so they also had to go to the transfer portal they do bring in Robbie Ashford who was the backup quarterback at Auburn and he'll be in that same position this year but you know he might have to come in for Len noris sellers should he have his struggles we'll have to wait and see uh they also bring in Raheem Sanders as well as Jared Brown and Amari H Huggins Bruce so um I think South Carolina's going to take a step back this year because you look at the schedule it's not easy and so um I think it's going to be kind of an uphill climb for South Carolina this year so let's look at the Gamecock schedule so they open up against Old Dominion on August 31st and this game is at home and I think this is going to be a win uh for uh for the Gamecocks then they go on the road to Kentucky and Kentucky has always been pretty consistent under Mark stops and he's brought that program to respectability and this game being on the road I just don't know if South Carolina I think that defense for Kentucky uh will be able to slow down South Carolina's offense and so because of that I have that as a loss so this next game against LSU um this game could be a trap game for LSU um I think this game could be close it could be a high scoring game I I think LSU I think they're going to take a step back this year but I think overall LSU is just the better ball club and so because of that I have that as a loss for South Carolina then they're then they're at home again against akan I think they do get themselves a win over the Zips and so after the first B week the schedule definitely does not let up uh you have a game at home against Old Miss another possible Trap game for them but I just think that offense uh with what Old Miss has returning uh Lane kein um being an offensive mine South Carolina's defense isn't all that good and so I just don't think they're going to be able to uh to keep up with old Miss and then the schedule you go on the road to Alabama and then you go on the road again to Oklahoma I think think both of those games will be losses I think Alabama I think they take a step back in their first year under kin deor and then Oklahoma I expect them to be very good as well and so um because of that I have both of these as losses for South Carolina and then uh at the after the second bye they come back home again against Texas A&M I think A&M is going to be a contender in their first year uh under Mike Elco and I think this will be a loss for South Carolina South Carolina has never beaten Texas A&M since they started playing each other every year and I don't think this year will be any different then going on the road to Vanderbilt um this is South Carolina's best opportunity to get an SEC win this is Vanderbilt's opportunity to get an SEC win and you know what I think South Carolina I think they will find a way I do think they will I think they'll beat Vanderbilt uh then they come back home against Missouri I think that's going to be a loss as well and so Missouri They're bringing back a lot of their starters from the previous year and so I think Missouri uh will be good again this year so you have your home finale against wford that's an FCS opponent you shouldn't have any problems in that game but then you end the season on the road against Clemson so remember what happened the last time these two teams played each other in Death Valley at Clemson uh South Carolina they pulled off a major upset that nobody saw coming uh you know remember special teams played a big factor in that game and um you know Clemson did get their Revenge last year in Colombia and so we'll see what happens but I think a lot of question marks surrounding Clemson this year uh if their offense can do what they need to do I think I think they'll be just fine and but unfortunately for South Carolina I have them losing to Clemson and with that I have the Gamecock going 4 and with only one Conference win so that is my uh picks and predictions for South Carolina I just think it's I think with this schedule and look at what they lost last year
