welcome to your Tennessee NC State preview presented by priz picks Ari Nico Mania receives its biggest challenge to date now this game is not a road game for the vs it's in Charlotte so it should be what are we thinking are we thinking a 50-50 crowd or we thinking a little more heavy Inc State because they're in state what do we know about this Tennessee fan base they're barely uh psychotic is psychotic not strong enough a word yeah I think it's a I think it's a compliment in this context oh I they they definitely take it as a compliment yes um I think that Tennessee is going to be very well represented because it's a reasonable driving distance and who wouldn't be excited to hop in the car to go watch Nico play I mean this is this is going to be a really great atmosphere and I think Tennessee is going to be very well represented in that Stadium I feel like this week we are just watching fan bases of of teams that they kind of have been trying to get back to where they feel like they belong just get so pumped up about their quarterbacks whether it's Nebraska with Dylan riela but Nico it it feels even bigger because one I think you have that bold performance against Iowa that you can also kind of Peg and say look at what he did against what we know is a really good defense well guess what Tony Gibson usually coaches a really good defense he's the defensive coordinator NC State he's one of those guys that really tries to confuse a quarterback uh he will he will Rush three and drop eight one play he will bring seven and drop four the next play and you do not know one play to the next what it what that's going to be he does a great job of disguising it and so he's the type of coordinator that can drive a Young quarterback crazy and make him make mistakes so what I'm watching for in this game is how does Nico take care of the ball how how well can he diagnose what NC State's doing and if NC State does something that rattles him how does he then come back from that and does he Shake It Off does it bother him and I I think that's really the key here yeah you know you're also talking about a young quarterback who this program completely invested the future in but I think that all the N Mania has distracted people from the the reality that Tennessee has a really good receiver base too I mean like Dante Thorton was a big-time recruit who went to Oregon and he's out here leading the team last week in in receiving yards Brew McCoy is a really really good player I mean he's guys he's got guys out there that are going to help him so I I really really am all about the Nico train I am on the Nico train and I think that if we get a big game from him in this one then I think he's going to start popping up on you know more you're going to start seeing his face on these Heisman um weekly polls that we do because it's very easy to buy into the hype and the thing that that's best about him is is that this isn't just a really good player who showed up the The Legend of Nico was a was already prevalent amongst college football fans before he ever even stepped foot on campus there given his nil situation so um a lot to like and I am I don't want to say to do the more than but also probably going to have to have a big game for them to win this game uh the square I think is interesting for Nico 0 five rushing and receiving TDS and that is a demon Square which means the payouts a little bit higher I think Nico is a pretty willing Runner I think we saw that in the Iowa game in the bowl game he's not that thick yet what I keep wondering with Nico is now he's he's gotten bigger he's 6 fo6 he's now like 220 pounds but his dad is like 68 320 and I think there's a there's a world where Nico is like a junior in college or or you know senior in college or in the NFL where we're talking about like a 66 240 PB dude who's just Rock Solid so you're saying that the dude's just going to turn into Cam Newton one day I I I'm not I'm not not saying it Ari but he's a willing Runner like you you go back to high school and watch his film even when he was like 65 185 in high school he was very willing to to put his shoulder down and truck somebody so I that's why I'm I'm intrigued by that that touchdown Square because I do think he's going to be used a lot on the goal line and he he does have good good instincts on the read option now we're talking good instincts in the option game it's not the offense he's running now but we know Grayson McCall the NC State quarterback has incredible instincts with all of the any sort of play action option mesh situations because we watched him at Coastal Carolina for all those years when Jamie Chadwell was his coach and and and playing in that offense now we're seeing him play in Robert andi's offense at NC State I thought against Western Carolina he did fine there was a a pretty critical interception early that really hurt NC State but without us being in the the meetings we we don't know what happened because it was a miscommunication between Mcall and a receiver who ran clearly the receiver ran a different route than McCall was expecting so I don't know whose fault that was so I'm not GNA just Hammer Grayson McCall for throwing a pick there but Grayson McCall is gonna have to play really well and oh by the way Ari James Pierce Jr for Tennessee may be the best pass rusher in the whole country coming at him yeah I mean we're talking about the person who's probably going to be 1.1 in the NFL draft this um entirely possible um you know one of the squares too Andy that got my attention here is a a person that we have to talk about a little bit more on the show which is KC concep and I just like the best player on NC State's team he is awesome he is a really really good player and hopefully becomes more of a household name for people who are more casual um he is uh the biggest Cog in that offense and seeing 73 and a half receiving yards I think that an 880 yard game for him would probably be dis a disappointment in in any big game uh I really like more than 73 and a half uh there for him as well because he's a rising star of this country there was a play in the Western Carolina game where he takes a little bubble and one guy hits him and two guy hits two guys hit him and then third a third guy hits him and then fourth guy and he's still dragging he's like dragging half the Western Carolina defense for another five or six yards he's so much fun to watch so yeah I cannot wait for this game because Casey concepion is is probably the the best player we're not talking about enough right now but Nico against a big opponent against a good defense against a defensive coordinator that's GNA try to try to confuse him cannot wait Grayson McCall we've been waiting for this you know we've seen him really heated up at the group of five level but now it's his first chance to show what he can do at the power conference level cannot wait for this game
