I'm very grateful for the organization uh both Tennessee and Green Bay for you know giving me opportunity to play at the next level and uh things just happened so I'm here now and uh grateful to you know coach and GM and everybody a part of this thing for having me here and I'm just I'm a packer now so that's what it is you think you'll be able to learn the offense quick enough to be the backup in less than two weeks in Brazil I think I'm going to take this thing day by day and do what I can to prepare myself to be in position to do that yes sir what do you want to show here what what do you want to show this opportunity you have I'm not sure that I'm going to show or trying to show anything I think I'm going to take this thing day by day it's a quick turnaround uh do my best to learn the offense and be prepared to you know back up Jordan and do whatever I can to help this organization and this team what excites you about learning from Jordan and being his backup I think it's cool uh we have the same agent so I have a previous relationship with him and uh just getting anything I mean he went to the playoffs last year so that's awesome I can learn anything I can from him what is the process at this point for just trying to learn as fast as you can what do you do the process I mean it's more than anything just getting in front of it and uh just learning everything you can being really a sponge to anything the coaches have anything the other guys in the room have anything that I can read on my own and watch film seeing it done uh just more than anything just repetition that's what it is at this point I mean how did you find out that you were going to be traded and what was your your initial swirlwind of I was I met with uh ran and uh coach Callahan and they gave me the news and they said it's either positive or negative and depending on how you look at it and this is an opportunity where I can come and be a two and uh you know work my way to get better every day and uh learn something on the way mentioned coach KY had how how how much do you think that that familiarizes you maybe with with this system and other they have some similarities I know you're digging into this offense but you feel like that's going to be an easy transition I feel like there's definitely some crossover uh as far as what we were doing this year with Callahan and uh even before that what we were doing my rookie year and uh just as far as terms and uh you know the build of it goes and the type of system it is and uh I think uh I get more familiar with it as we go did it catch you off guard did they when when they pulled you in the office told you it could either be positive or negative did you have any idea of what it could be and did it catch up guard what what the ended up situation I mean I didn't wake up thinking I was going to be traded no sir so it definitely caught me by surprise so uh more than anything you just take it what it is quick turnar around and the season starting there's no more you know lounging around and kind of you know getting ready for the season this is what it is there's no time to really think about it it's time to go what's the biggest way in which you've kind of grown as a quarterback since making those three starts your rookie year how are you different now I mean in all aspects I mean that's the last time I really got to go and put something out there on tape for myself but I mean you work hard every day to work on those things things that may be deficiencies or just mistakes you know you learn from those bumps and bruises and uh you just wait for another opportunity you just stick around until you get another opportunity and I think that's been the main thing focus on you know the process and maybe the results you know what's it like to be teammates with savier Mak that's crazy I mean we went to high school together for a year I had transferred out there to Roswell we end up going to state championship so that's awesome and then we got Tyron Hopper you know his uh little his big cousin he played with us on that uh Championship run team and he came the year after so it's cool to see him here as well there's a lot of guys that are familiar faces that are in the building for for those of us who aren't maybe familiar with your game coming from the AFC South what is it that you feel like as a quarterback you you hang your hat on and where do you want to grow your game where do you needed to be to get to the next step for in your progression I think uh when you play enough games you can have something you hang your hat on I I don't say I'm hang my hat on anything as of right now I think uh that only comes with reps and confidence building uh being out there on the field and uh as far as you know working hard and doing what I can every day to get better we continue to do that until that opportunity arises what's your first impressions of Green Bay I mean it's nice it was warmer than I thought it was going to be for now yeah for now did I jinx it wait for September yeah I heard what learn about yourself you know as a player you know came from great career at Liberty and then played in the backup role in Nashville what have you learned about yourself over these few years in the NFL I've learned that I learn at a crazy rate I mean uh this is my fourth offense going into my third year so I mean it's what it is and uh just being able to adapt has really made me you know not proud but definitely leaning on that and uh continuing to just grind and work hard and continue to let things play out high they supposed to how do you feel about going to Brazil right off the bat for your first game with the pack I think it's crazy I mean that's a blessing you get to take a trip and go out there and play some football so that's awesome you know I'm excited do you have a valid passport I do we we went to Europe last year played in Tottenham Tottenham hot space on a personal level what's what have these last 48 hours been like you're preparing for a new season preparing for a new team also adjusting to a new city just how diff kind of Whirlwind has been like for yeah all the other stuff really didn't matter it's more than anything getting ready for practice today that's really been the main thing and making sure we're jumping on this thing as fast as we can there's not much time and there's not much reason to not get into it you know what I mean well was can you share a little bit of that first conversation you had with FL what he may have something that stood out that he may have said to that reason why he wants you here and where he expects you what he expects you to mean for this team uh I won't speak for him I'll let him I'll let you guys ask him and uh he just basically said let's go let's get to work and uh he's glad to have me here so that's awesome when did you actually arrive I know it's crazy it's this time a year changing cities and everything like when did you actually arrive here probably like 2:30 3:00 and then you kind of just roll that thing all the way to 8:00 trying to get ready and get prepared in this thing 33:00 yesterday yeah you had a good preseason um you put anything into those numbers as far as your growth goes or just is that just three exhibition games and not much you make out of it I mean it's reps at the end of the day and that's the most important thing you get to go out there and play football against guys that are doing the same as you trying to get better and I think that it's not anything you can put real stock into as far as you know realization of where you are in your you know position but I think it's definitely awesome to get live reps against guys you don't go against every day against somebody you have to prepare for and I think that's it's a mock game for the season that's what it is it's preseason and it it helps you to lock in on how you want to prepare for a game and how you want to go out there and execute and when you see those little things that you may have seen on film be able to utilize them outside of like oh everything scripted at practice you go play football how do feel though to have those last 10 minutes I mean being able to do what you did to lead him in that finale just to kind of have it as a building block now you know going into a season I think it was awesome it was fun you get to play football I mean you don't get too caught up in the scores cuz one guy's not playing the whole game so but you just do as the situation allows just like if you get in right before the half and you have a two-minute drive you treat that two-minute drive as if you know let's go get points here let's not like you know what I mean this is not the end of the game and then you just take each situation for what it is you know we got a we got a a good PT return we're flip the field so we're already in field goal range what are we thinking we're thinking we have three points already but we're down four you know what I mean so it's like you building those situations and you learning from them and you get to go and utilizing all the stuff that you practice so it's awesome how much exper how much experience do you have playing in cold BL I you've ever started a game in like below freezing temperatures I mean Liberty not before not below freezing no sir but uh Liberty was pretty cold we played a game it was about 20 15° so I mean I played some pretty cold games and we play here snow before the my rookie year that was pretty cold but not below freezing I have not yet oh I'm lying my rookie year we played in Nashville against Houston it was like5 or -2 something like that but in terms you didn't play that game no I started that oh you did yeah I had my scuba suit on I know you've had a lot on your plate I don't know if you've seen the you're not the only former Titan that's going to be joining the locker the kicker Bren narison put for him that's what's up what what do you know about him and apparently hit a 59 y against the yeah you got to go look that up it was cool it was cool that whole situation was cool how you know coach Colt the Special Teams coordinator down there just he vouched for him and said send him out there let's kick one and he end up making it one of the longest kicks in Tennessee History so that's awesome I'm glad for him he deserves it and I'm you know glad to be here as well God's bless me with another opportunity and just grateful for it were you ready for a fresh start I mean obviously coming in with expectations higher draft pick and then being a little bit buried in the dep dep chart in Tennessee you like I would it be a new place be good for you was that a thought process at all before any of the news even came out I mean you know you think about that and you really don't put much stock into that you just go to work each day and you know you kind of fight the perceptions of what you have on tape and that's what it is and that's truth and you can't really put that on anybody else you can't put that on yourself as well sometimes situation allows for what it allows and you just continue to work each day and do what you can so that's all I worry about I more question uh we got the same AG yeah I know that yeah we've done together a few times yeah so what is the role of a backup quarterback here once well now I mean once the games are here obviously what what what is your role other than getting yourself ready to play games I mean that and just supporting any way you can as far as anything you know you just dare to help along the way you're asked about him but what about his game how much have you watched of Jordan's game and are you familiar and acclimated with with what he does I mean it looked like I'm going to be watching a lot of CU just uh getting all the concepts and stuff together and watching the Clips and cut ups and just seeing how he's reading it so I can uh figure out what I'm going to do with it same thing
