Intro hi this is greg and marlo from the greg and marlo show on cjob 68 and today we find ourselves at at the san vito coffee house at the corner of mount royal and portage avenue here in winnipeg that's 2293 portage avenue they have fantastic lattes greg great coffee and a great place to be yes it's very cute everything's kind of like chocolate brown and kind of like a really zingy green color lots of comfy seating great stuff very friendly i gotta check it out for sure especially if you like fair trade coffee yes they got that here well coming up this sunday night february 28th it's show number 501 for greg and marlo yes and in hour one uh we're actually hitting the streets of winnipeg uh over the last three weeks greg and i have spent probably about nine hours over three solid weeks observing a very dangerous situation that's happening here in winnipeg crosswalk uh unfortunately earlier this week a child was hit 14 year old 14 year old boy it was a boy it was a boy by a 19 year old girl yes corner of ward law and osborne yes it's got to be the most dangerous crosswalk in the city of winnipeg it's insane we sit there and we watch people almost lose their lives on a minute on a minute-by-minute basis and we actually try crossing twice ourselves and people just blatantly blew through with plenty of time to stop it is a problem and we took it to the streets and we asked winnipeggers what they thought Most dangerous crosswalk in Winnipeg we're standing in front of quite possibly the most dangerous crosswalk in the city of winnipeg earlier this week a 14 year old boy was struck here he is currently in critical condition at the hospital jenny gerbassi is the city councilor in charge of the fort rouge area we just received an email from her she will be moving a motion at community committee on tuesday march 2nd asking for the standing policy committee on infrastructure and public works to ask the administration to investigate installing a half signal at this intersection she goes on to say she's hearing a lot of concern from neighborhood residents about this particular crosswalk she is encouraging winnipeggers in this area to send emails and petitions or letters for improvements of this intersection do you feel this crosswalk is safe sometimes not all the time people don't seem to notice that there's people crossing yeah so do you find that you press the button and they're not stopping or yeah for the most part you hit the button and they just don't really stop for you so well we noticed right there just as we're filming that someone just about hit you there uh we've witnessed that a number of times over the last few weeks so who do you think is responsible for fixing this problem i think it's just the driver's gonna pay more attention in my opinion earlier this week a 14 year old boy was hit here and we found that uh this crosswalk has been a problem uh who would be responsible for fixing that issue probably the city it's a motorist concern i mean the motorist is at fault especially at a crosswalk uh i guess education would be the answer i think this crosswalk is a lot more dangerous at night the drivers drive a little bit too fast and they don't pay attention to pedestrians Racial intolerance hour two we're talking racial intolerance religious intolerance and we're taking the story out of nova scotia this week about a mixed-race couple black and white who found a burning cross on their front lawn we're not talking mississippi or alabama two fine states by the way we're talking nova scotia canada it happens here in canada too why does it happen who does it what's the point and what can we do to keep that from happening that's hour two plus in hour one let's not forget the wild card opening up the show with the wild card and most importantly coming up on our show on sunday night we're doing a book giveaway again it's a great book by kathleen may we have a signed copy of the generosity plan we'll be giving it to i don't know i'll call her number five or call my number six or hold the side then yeah we'll decide on the phone you know what kathy listened to our show she was unable to join us for uh the evening that we covered it but she was so in love with the show that she sent us a a great amount of signed copy she was fantastic well we believe we believe in living generously yes and she's written a book called the generosity plan and i think there's some great synergy between her and us and she was very generous to send those copies and we're going to be giving them away one a month or so for the next few months because we're generous too yep we are just passing it along so stay tuned sunday nights 9 to 11 p.m central on cjob 68 that's 6 80 a.m in winnipeg or you can find us streamed live
