in a surprise move the Cleveland Browns have released thirdy year wide receiver David Bell the question I have is this a question about David Bell or is this a question and a problem about another give you some short information here my thoughts on the David Bell release because I got to be honest I think this might lead to something that we do not know yet which would affect me in turn giving you a true pregame show so what we know to this point third year wide receiver David Bell has been released from the 53 man roster David Bell as we know looked sharp first quarter of the first preseason game because of Green Bay Packers took a hit on his quad muscle had not done anything till earlier in the week when he had returned to practice the Browns 53 man roster has six wide receivers on it if you say the Browns are still searching who is going to be the Return Man their best options at Return Man are probably two of the receivers that are on the practice squad prochet and Jaylen dordan certainly something to consider did this end up being a bad numbers game for David Bell in that regard we all know Bell had a big touchdown reception in that Jaguar like game last year two touchdowns in the finale against the Bengals caught seven balls in the uh playoff game against Houston Texans all intense and purposes anybody I have talk to David Bell is loved within that building they like David Bell everybody I know fanwise talks and what David Bell is isn't look they had a chance to improve the wide receiver room a tremendous amount in the time David Bell has been here it didn't mean they were totally down on David Bell maybe they just over evaluated David David Bell a little more maybe they thought the potential was there for David Bell to be two or three but as a four or five or a six David Bell is certainly a fine option in the NFL now the other thing and this is the one where I think we should all maybe be a little bit nervous and we'll certainly find out more on Friday and certainly find out more heading into Sunday against the Cowboys jedric Willis jedric Willis did a little at practice yesterday jedric Wills was not seen went outside maybe did a few things but during the overall part of practice Ed Wills was not outside on the field kind of expected right we all expected that to this point with jedric just returning to practice yesterday there was no way you thought he was going to be ready to go against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday however Jack Conlin has now been limited the last two days at practice I'm not saying but you could see where maybe there could be concern there is he on the JC Trader plan from years ago where JC walked out to the fil most of the time he just walked the field the street close and then showed up on Friday did what he had to do to prove to his coaches that he was ready to go on Sunday big difference as Jack Conlin is coming back from a major injury with a lot of his knee blown to bits last year in week one against the Cincinnati Bangles so if you do not have jedric wills and then therefore you do not have Jack Conlin as well you only have 10 offensive linemen on your roster James Hudson dwan Jones are your only two other offensive tackles on your roster so that brings up the question of did you move David Bell to elevate in this case most likely off the practice squad gerer fedi but then it also brings you to the question of on Sunday are you also going to have to bring up Lorenzo Thompson so at least you have four offensive tackles on your roster to play against the Dallas Cowboys let's hope it's not this I'm not going to lie to you let's hope it's not this because if you're going out there with James Hudson at left tackle against tank Lawrence I'm scared that changes probably everything and every aspect of what you think this game can be on Sunday for the Cleveland Browns so with it it really seems odd now you could look at the defensive side of the ball the Browns are carrying nine defensive players on their 53 man I'm sorry nine defensive linemen on their 53 man roster you have on that you have your four defensive tackles eventually the fifth would be Michael Hall when he gets off the commissioner's exemp list you have five defensive ends nine defensive linemen to go against Dallas Cowboys yeah I think you're good six linebackers on the roster maybe all six of them will not dress on Sunday but even still five is sufficient secondary six corners on the 53 five safeties probably only going to address four safeties but even still this David Bell move was not done to open up a roster spot for a defensive player maybe the slimmest of all slim chances you get word somewhere that my call is is good to go and he's off the exemp list I don't think it's going to be the case uh we have not heard anything new about any legal proceedings um we do know just a little bit that some of the victims statements have been recanted to this point but that's all we know but there is nothing that we've heard coming from a legal aspect that makes you think that all of a sudden Mike Hall's situation is going to be severely changed to the point where he can come off the commissioner's exemp list go back on the 53 man roster and be able to replay on Sunday so this is not a move relative to anything that's going you know for the defensive side of the ball it does make me wonder if the Browns are looking to bring up prochet or are looking to bring up Jaylen Darden I'm not sure as of this point who would be your punt returner on Sunday I mean we know Elijah Mo could do it um other than that I'm not really sure as far is the return guy we don't know much Dante Foreman did it a little bit over the summer um yeah I don't think it's going to be Jerome Ford it could certainly be Pierre strong but could there be an in you know a situation here where the Browns felt they needed to bring up either James prochet or Jaylen Darden to be your return man on Sunday against the Cowboys which could maybe shed a little more light on this David Bell release I know there was some stuff on social media and the David Bell versus Michael Wood I doubt it's going to be Michael Woods because I doubt after all this time and Michael Woods having a great final preseason game against Seattle Seahawks the Browns all of a sudden changed their mind 12 days later and said you know what never mind we didn't mean to keep David Bell we meant to get Mike Woods or did you keep David Bell for the sole purpose of waiting this long to release him and knowing most likely he wasn't gonna play this week anyway with a quad injury that you could do all this and then maybe sneak him back on I'm not sure that's gonna happen you got teams like the Carol Adam Panthers you've got other teams that are lower in the pecking order that would probably be all over a former top 100 pick in his third year this is a roll of the dice I don't know how it's going to work out you can say all the things in the world like you would like to bring him back I just don't know that that is necessarily going to be the case David Bell has been released we're going to talk a little bit more got from both qu coordinators but Jim Schwarz and I got to tell you you can kind of hear it from Jim Schwarz first he spoke on Greg Nome and you know he kind of had the same Theory we all did when we heard of Greg nome's first and it wasn't you know just the hamstring injury it was hamstring surgery like hamstring are difficult than as it is now he talking about surgery on a hamstring but gr uh Jim Schwarz did say he didn't think Dallas was going to be an option and then as time went on and then finally G returned even still he didn't think it was gonna be an option but Greg proved himself it is certainly going to be something that Jim Schwarz keeps his eyes on you have three other Corners you can use and the last thing you want to do is have Greg Nome end up missing more of an extended period of time just because you Tred to rush him out there for the season opener but G new Greg Nome all set to go for Sunday spoke about cidd lamb but also spoke about what he thoughts about thinks about CD lamb but also thought said what he thought about his own quarterback Trio and sure Jim Schwarz behind closed doors probably sitting there scheming up all day long on ways to slowdown number 88 CD lamb phenomenal player but when you get in front of that mic and you tell all your players when you're out they're on the field I want you to celebrate I want you to be braggadocious I want you cut it up a little bit you ain't gonna run you can't do it you're telling your players to go out there you know and be cocky be confident and he said I got the top quarterback Trio in the NFL so we'll do all we can to do our best to contain him um the cowbo going to be starting two offensive uh two rookie offensive lineman as we said um so certainly Jim Schwarz did his due Ence spoke well about BB the center spoke well about gon the left tackle but also said I've got veteran defensive players I've got veteran defensive lineman and he thinks the expectation in the matchup should certainly go in the Cleveland Browns favor now Ken dorsy also spoke as well Ken dorsy revealed some things um he will be Ken dorsy that is will be on the sidelines so that is interesting because if everybody remembers the the years ago were destroyed you I don't know if it was an iPad or you know whatever that you know the Microsoft version is but kend Dorsey as of this point will be participating from the sidelines um gives you know in interesting to take normally your offense coordinators upstairs um you overseeing everything maybe it's just something that he feels he and deshan is something they want to go this route um you know maybe coach defy decided he wanted to go this route you can get a lot more one-on-one verbal communication when certainly you know somebody is on the side Lin as opposed to being up top because you do run into issues where maybe the technology the audio is not working um so certainly you know interesting from that standpoint but kand dorsy likes it here he likes the environment here he likes the enthusiasm of the players look he just came from a team that had a lot of confidence and had a lot of success in the Buffalo Bills so I'm assuming that's kind of the feel he's getting here spoke well of deshan desan spoke confidently today as well about how amped up and how ready he is to go um I will say it again for the 9,000th time let's judge desun Watson on what we see on Sunday so many people are trying to preemptively write the script write the way it's going to work no that is not what we are supposed to do we are supposed to evaluate and then give our opinion well I can't evaluate deshun Watson because I haven't seen him throw a pass since Baltimore in early November so I am not going to sit here and pretend I know what deshun Watson is going to give the rounds on Sunday I think it's going to be good but I will evaluate it when I see it on Sunday so again we're going to close what we know is David Bell has been released there's been nothing else put out and even stranger and this is what maybe gets me a little nervous about the offensive tackle play is David Bell went to practice participated and then all of a sudden was released um you know David's always been a good guy so it's not like you think there's something coming where maybe all of a sudden illegal issu is GNA pop up no I think the Browns you know my in my in my worrisome part of brown fandom I think the Browns are maybe concerned that Jack Conlin will not be ready to go on Sunday so the Browns would then need to bring one offensive tackle onto the 53 man roster and then obviously sit jedric JS jedric Wills Sunday bring up most likely obviously like I said it would be jamer FEI and then of course it would be you know uh Lorenzo Thompson as well um not an ideal situation I pray to God I am wrong on this one but I think the David Bell situation really in the end of the day had nothing to do with David Bell I think it had to do with the Browns have a greater need somewhere else and they have faith in Coupe they have faith in Judy they have faith in Elijah Moore they have faith certainly in Cedric Tilman and Jamari thresh has been riding a hot wave all summer long maybe a little bit earlier than folks maybe thought Jamari thrash would get a shot but the Rook did it all summer long so maybe he'll get a few chances to do something on Sunday but your big news of the day David Bell has been released it smells like there could be a bigger problem than other than wide receiver uh we will get back to you tomorrow I will absolutely get your pregame show I do I was planning I was finishing notes and then the David Bell thing broke so which would really affect the way I would be able to report on Sunday's game because I think it's a
