hand it to demo man that battering ram just hand it to him and and he did the rest it was fun it was fun watching him um kind of catch that second win there in that overtime and our old line the same way and then I was joking with him when we after like we called the play on the one yard line it was like this is scoring like we didn't there was no doubt and um punched it in it was great after we ran the conditioning test uh and whatever that was July 26th I guess um you know the day before we started our first practice and he was he just man you talk about a guy who was in outstanding shape look all of our guys were but this guy just looked I mean he looked like he didn't break a sweat for this thing and and then the first few days of practice he doesn't look fatigued he he just and so he's in unbelievable shape he's worked uh worked extremely hard and uh and he's just man he's reliable he's reliable he he runs heavy he's tough he's physical he gets in a rhythm and I think he's a catalyst for us you know he starts carrying it and he gets better and better and I think the line feeds off of him and he feeds off of them and um and we get what we get so that guy's just stud Sunday the first week it's in the book now and the game that you just watched the Rams in overtime excuse me the lions in overtime defeat the Rams 2620 Montgomery punches it in from the one yard line and the Rams walk it off the L the Rams ran for 60 of the 70 yards on the TD Drive in overtime uh huh the I keep saying the Rams the Lions they ran for 60 of the 70 yard TD yard Drive in overtime is that the most Dan Campbell thing that you can think of when he took the job what did he say we're gonna out physical people we hey you might beat us but you want our workers you want our physical you hey that that in your when a t think about it Oo we heard me say this and y'all guys have heard me say this a lot when you run the football you're moving a man against his will a man got his hand on a three-point stance yeah and he says I ain't going nowhere and the LI said that assou and Decker and all those guys said the hell you not you f to get up out this plot land and they moved him up out of uh zitler man that was an unbelievable Drive toing together in overtime and win that game right right down the field listen I the game at the beginning hon honestly it was a snooze Fest it was a snoozefest until after halftime did we not see football being played dries being strung along from both offenses hell it was it was three three at the half if I'm not mistaken right 73 103 73 it it was something like that I mean I I was falling asleep fall asleep so I'm I'm thinking I'm thinking Stafford Cooper cup puka the ball they going to be throwing the ball all over the place no Crossing routes I ain't really getting none of that in the first half until the second half everything started to open up and then the game became in interesting jamos goddamn Jameson Wilson Jameson Williams man Jameson Williamson Jamon Williams I just say J Mo I'm G just say J Mo J Mo okay goad J Mo man he's but he scared me man I don't like when I see players go down like that I hate when I see players go down like that goddamn PUK nura he goes in he hurt so funny I'm not saying it's a coincidence but all of a sudden you have a phenomenal rookie season this year you change your diet you change your nutrition you do all this stuff that you didn't do that work last year trying to change what you're doing I'm hoping everything is okay with him other than that it was a great game Dan Campbell and the lion setting the tone the culture everything over there has changed for the better and I'm I'm happy I'm happy hell I'm happy for Jared G too because they done they done they done ship them off yeah no like like he was done and he's still resurrecting and and and changing the changing the ways of that that program now talk about program organization you know what oo and I'm not want to get too far off track here I don't believe they thought he was done but I do believe they didn't think he can get them over the hump and by by choice you look at it they won the trade because they won the Super Bowl so anytime some anytime you make a trade oo and you win the Super Bowl how do you lose that trade you're right and so I think that's what they're looking at and that's what everybody has to evaluate can this guy get us to the next level he took him to a Super Bowl and maybe they say well hey he can get us there but can we get over the hump and if you look at that drive that Matthew Stafford put together to take the lead against Cincinnati in the Super Bowl that's why they got it that's why they made the trade cuz think about how many times did you see him do this tonight oo he looking over here and throw the ball clear across there across yeah yeah so he has that ability but when you look at the you look at the Lions you look at they ran the football 31 attempts 163 yards two touchdowns Jerry G was 18 of 28 217 one touchdown had an interception uh Jameson Williams 5 for 121 uh the two running backs mtgy 17 for 91 Gils 11 for 40 but that's not way they want to play they want to play a physical style of football you know Detroit hardworking Blue Collar grit that's what Dan Campbell has brought to this team the Lions has a lot have a lot the fans have a lot to be excited about because it seemingly last year they went to the NFC championship game with what a couple of probably about two minutes away from actually winning that game oo and going to the Super Bowl and Dan Campell was like look look it's not like we get to pick right back up and go to the NFC championship game we've got to go back down to the mountain and climb again yeah and they welcome that I love what I love what I saw from the Rams uh it could have got away from them because when excuse me the Lions when the Rams took the lead yeah what happened oo the lions come out three and out boom and I was like oh man the Rams can really put this game away now way yeah give the defense credit uh AG Aaron Glenn the the coordinated they made a great job they did a great job and stopped it Jared gof has done it again in a game where every second mattered the Detroit Lions pulled off a dramatic overtime Victory 26 to2 against the Los Angeles Rams this was more than just a win it was a statement a statement about grit determination and resilience head coach Dan Campbell's vision of tough Smashmouth football came to Life on Sunday night setting the tone for what could be a defining season gof the quarterback who once led the Rams to a Super Bowl found himself on the opposite side this time orchestrating an emotional comeback to lead his new team the Lions to Victory the stakes were high and gof Rose to the occasion facing off against his former teammates in a contest filled with tension drama and heartbreak for the Rams but before we dive into the intense overtime finish let's take a look at how the game unfolded and how both teams fought tooth and nail this matchup wasn't just any regular season game it was personal the stakes were high as Jared G the former number one overall pick for the Rams was set to face off against the team that traded him away gof now leading the Lions had a point to prove and the narrative was written for a dramatic Showdown on the other side Matthew Stafford the man the Rams traded for was returning to his roots the buildup was palpable with fans buzzing and anticipation in the air the first quarter started slow both teams feeling each other out with defense taking Center Stage the Rams and lions traded field goals and at halftime the score sat at a modest 3 to3 neither team seemed willing to Blink and it felt like a battle of attrition waiting for someone to seize control but as the second half unfolded the intensity shifted it became clear that neither team was backing down and the game was about to reach another level after halftime everything changed the game transformed from a defensive slugfest to an offensive explosion early in the third quarter Jameson Williams Detroit's electrifying receiver lit up the field with a stunning 52 yd touchdown reception the crowd at Ford Field erupted as the line Lions surged to a 17-3 lead and the momentum seemed firmly in their hands but if you thought the Rams were going to roll over you were mistaken the Rams responded quickly driving down the field as Tyler Johnson hauled in a 63 yd catch that set up Kiren Williams for a punch-in touchdown suddenly the game was back within reach with the Rams trailing just 17 to 10 the drama was palpable as both teams seemed poised for a back and forth battle as the fourth quarter began both Sidelines knew the game was still anyone's to win with the game tightening the pressure mounted but neither team could foresee the drama that was about to unfold in the final minutes leading to one of the most intense overtime periods we've seen he fourth quarter saw both teams fighting tooth and nail the Rams clawed their way back into the game thanks to a late touchdown pass from Stafford to Cooper cup that gave them their first lead since the opening quarter it was a perfectly executed 80 yard drive with Stafford throwing across his body to find cup in the end zone at that point it looked like the Rams were going to steal the victory leading 2017 with just seconds remaining but Jared gof and the Lions weren't finished yet with only 17 seconds on the clock rookie kicker Jake Bates making his NFL debut stepped up and drilled a clutch 32 yd field goal sending the game into overtime the crowd held its breath as both teams prepared for sudden death in overtime the Lions took control in an 8-play 70y Drive Detroit leaned on their Relentless running game David Montgomery their Powerhouse running back delivered the final blow his one-yard touchdown run capped off the drive sealing a 26 to20 victory for Detroit the Lions dominated the overtime period never even giving Stafford and the Rams offense a chance to touch the ball this drive was the epitome of Dan Campbell's philosophy physical ground and pound football the Lions ran for 60 of those 70 yards overpowering the Rams defensive line and proving that they were the stronger team when it mattered most but this Victory wasn't just about Montgomery's heroics it was about a quarterback who found Redemption on the biggest stage against the team that doubted him for Jared gof this victory was more than just a win it was Redemption after being cast off by the Rams many doubted whether he had what it took to lead a team to Greatness but on Sunday night gof silenced those critics he wasn't perfect throwing for 217 yards one touchdown and an interception but What mattered most was his leadership and his composure under pressure when it came down to the wire Goff delivered his 18 for 28 performance may not have broken records but it showed the world that Jared gof is more than capable of leading this lion team deep into the postseason this was his chance to prove that the trade didn't bury his career it revitalized it gof Standing Tall against his former team sent a clear message Detroit is no longer an afterthought as gof celebrates his victory the question now shifts to the Rams can they bounce back or is this the beginning of a tough road ahead Matthew Stafford's return to Detroit wasn't the homecoming he had hoped for despite throwing for an impressive 317 yards and a touchdown it wasn't enough to get the win Stafford did his best to keep the Rams in the game but the absence of key players like pukan nakua who was carted off with a knee injury hurt their chances down the stretch ncua's absence left Stafford without one of his primary targets and despite Cooper Cup's 110 receiving yards the Rams offense couldn't sustain drives when it mattered most the Rams Now find themselves at 01 and questions are already swirling about how they'll handle this early setback their season may still be young but this loss stings a game they could have won slipping away in overtime will Stafford and the Rams regroup or will injuries and inconsistency derail their seat season All Eyes turned to Detroit a team Riding High on momentum and ready for bigger challenges Detroit Lions have announced themselves as serious contenders this is not the same Lions team we've seen in years past under Dan Campbell's leadership they've adopted a new identity one of toughness resilience and a Relentless commitment to outworking their opponents Jared gof has found a home in Detroit and with Playmakers like Jameson Williams and David Montgomery stepping up the Lions have a legitimate shot at making noise in the NFC the journey to the Super Bowl is long but this Victory is just the first step meanwhile the Rams have to pick up the pieces and find a way forward with a long season still ahead one thing is for sure Detroit is ready and they're coming for more
