Does Nebraska Football Have a 1st Round #NFLDraft Pick on its Roster? (6/10/24)

talked to you talked to Terence knon down in in in Texas right for that satellite Camp you mentioned it last week that you mentioned that he said Jamari Butler is the voice like of the D line room however he didn't mention this part in this conversation last week when we talked about this brief yeah Steve he he said apparently per Terence Knight Nebraska defensive line coach he thinks that Nash hutmacher has the the potential to be maybe a first round dra pick yeah he said it significant he said it in passing like it he wasn't dwelling on it okay um but yeah it's striking to me that I I don't know he's a big he's very athletic so he's got a shot he's got put some numbers up I would think um but yeah he said it I didn't emphasize it because he said it in passing and in and it was about Jamari Butler who by the way Bill's huge right now is he yeah I just saw him um yesterday at camp at Camp you were working Camp he's got like like just his neck got big like it's kind of reminds me of a Amir Amir Abdullah remember him I I sure do um his neck got really big but yeah those guys he's transformed you almost like you don't recognize him now God good what a great young man he's good too he's good but anyway yeah I don't know if Nash I'm not a talent evaluator of guys up front I can evaluate skill I can tell you where guy's going yeah thank you st we know that I can't evaluate him I don't well right away when you I follow the ball right away as we talked about Mass kicks ass and it's hard to find those guys yeah so that gives you a chance to be like right now to say like that he's a safety potential first-rounder that's hard the safeties just generally aren't first round picks no they're they're not running backs are generally not first round picks like one of them maybe just that's not how it goes big men pass rushers oh yeah oh yeah Bill You' been interested in this I was surprised at Houston Christian how now these coaches don't say this stuff on the record it's just like when you're talking off to the side I'm surprised how blunt they are about saying n safeties Corners running backs receivers dime a dozen I I mean I heard a guy say quarterback's Diamond dozen the other day quarterback Diamond dozen those guys are Diamondz there's a lot of them there's a lot of numbers to look at yeah so when you go to evaluate a quarterback there's and you're usually taking one and there's like you know 60 70 you're looking at you've evaluated a lot of quarterbacks right you don't evaluate a lot of so if you don't get one it's on to the next well just take a look you just take a how' Jordan love do this year for the Packers very good pretty good pretty good he's from Utah State so just just just go down just go down through all the the teams are people and and where the starting quarterbacks are from some of them are some of them are from Blue Bloods and a lot of them aren't I mean you just go down through it you see I mean one of the best quarterbacks I think there was about 5,000 yard passing Mark how many there there's been and like four or five of them were Drew breezes he's from Purdue Purdue he's he's from Austin Texas right next to the University of Texas and they didn't talk to Purdue he went to Purdue point they didn't talk to him Diamond doesn't but you know what's not a diam a dozen is The Bigs no you don't hear they don't they don't exist like I said when you went you went to Camp Friday night right you're there all Friday night Friday night what were the lines like for wide receiver DB really long but yeah really long but especially in Houston yeah uh I mean I'm we'll get same get to your point but yeah in in Houston the receiver line was so long that I mean I notic because there was a Nebraska kid that was getting an off that got an offer and I wanted to watch him he he got two reps he stood in line for 25 minutes and then got a bad pass thrown to him yeah I mean because because the the the skill Camp had 500 players and the big man camp had about half that or not even half that it was a much smaller Camp obviously because there's just not as many there's not as many bigs you'll never hear a coach say Nash Hut mocker those guys are dime a dozen now you'll hear that about safeties I kind of feel bad in a way about it yeah that's they're they're so then you then you find say okay they have the size now do they have the now do they have the skill set do they have the energy do they have all those things that go with it then that's why the guys just get paid so much when you have when you have an Aaron Donald or someone of that we just go whoa he just wrecks the middle of the field just think that you Aaron Donald was almost unblockable for yeah six seven years in the NFL right and he played at pit he didn't play he didn't play in the SEC no he didn't he didn't play in the so that means someone missed that means someone usually when they miss most like I I don't know it's for sure I imagine Aaron Donald was probably somewhere in the probably maybe 250 or 255 maybe in high school right and probably and he he wasn't is what was he 6'2 yeah there's probably some there people oh you always little undersized then but then became unblockable but yeah that I don't know Nash first rounder I don't know I haven't seen I've not seen projection yet I mean again it's it's a year out this well what I was gonna say is I haven't seen him look like a first rounder um I haven't seen him play like a first rounder now maybe but maybe that's ahead maybe that maybe Terence knighton's seeing things now probably seeing different things more developed and also it's just a good com because like d linan are hard to find right that puts you in the equation puts you in the equation to be a to be that yeah um you know middle linebackers there's a lot of them there's a lot of them so they're now they're different who's there's a lot of them that are different how they play I mean I had happened to be with uh at LSU with with uh two first round draft picks and they were different and so that was Patrick Queen went to Patrick just went just left he went to went to Baltimore and he was different you know and then Devon white was won the bucket award I mean when you're around him they were different like they were like whoa so people the players like those guys they're not Diamond dozen but when you get the board up on the linebacker board there'll be 400 guys there'll be 400 guys to look at right then that's always like well what about the safety that's going to move down to linebacker yeah how about that guy where's he at those type of things Nash is really athletic okay we saw that with his wrestling year Ian he was very good he had a good year right 10 yeah he's you know he's like like it looks like he's headed towards his like best football you know he looks like that guy so what will that look like um he's very confident you know the wrestling the wrestling thing I think really did help him so let's just see what it looks like if you have a first round pick and hutmacher you you like Ty Robinson coming back good defensive lineman you Jamari Butler going take a big step up looks like it he love the young guys um you know uh Camin Prince Will umen L lenhard yeah I'd say cam lenhardt and James Williams before Prince Will right now but Prince will still had a good year last year um but yeah they got pretty good pretty good depth there's some guys you don't exactly know about I mean Vincent Carol Jackson you don't really know about um seu luto I can't say the name whatever the hell his name is um leat two let's go Le two he's risen but you don't know I mean I don't know um he's got to do it he's got to do it in a game but that no they uh they're pretty good up front they're good up front those three guys that they're gonna roll out there first Nash Tai and Jamari Butler are good they're good they're they can handle themselves
