Right now at 530 remembering Johnny Goodreau, the devastating death, shaking the central Ohio and hockey communities tonight after he and his brother were killed while riding bicycles. Thanks for staying with us at 530. I'm Andrew Kinsey and I'm Yolanda Harris. Now police say both Johnny and his brother Matthew were killed in that crash in New Jersey last night. Police say a suspected drunk driver hit the brothers 10 to be Carla Rogner live at Nationwide Arena where some fans have been stopping by throughout the day. This tragedy really bringing attention to the dangers of drunk driving, Carla. Yeah, absolutely. It's been a very emotional day here at Nationwide Arena as fans try to process this tragedy. But what makes it even more heartbreaking is knowing that it could have been prevented some fans and an advocate against impaired driving that we spoke to today. Hope this serves as a reminder for people to be safe before they get behind the wheel. Just like somebody punched me in the gut. It just, I couldn't believe it. Kyle Andrews, one of many blue jackets fans stopping by Nationwide Arena after learning the news and obviously it happened on a bicycle with his brother and I just felt like it's good to come down and maybe have some cyclists from Central Ohio show their support. As a cyclist, he takes safety precautions on the roads, like using a mirror on his helmet and a monitor that lets him know when cars are around. But it's a team effort. If somebody does what happened last night, it doesn't matter what kind of safety measures you have in place, it's game over. Johnny and Macaro were on their bikes when authorities say a driver heading in the same direction, tried to pass two other cars and hit the brothers. Police believe the suspect 43 year old Sean Higgins of New Jersey was drunk. Do not take the chance that you're ok because when the crash happens, you can't take it back. It's a tragedy Laura Seeger is too familiar with her son, Joey was killed by an impaired driver when he was just 18. It changed everything. It literally changed everything. She travels across Ohio to share his story that there's always another way home to plan ahead. Be the DD, um, make your plans before you leave the house because once you go out those plans never get made. And the problem is, is people will have a couple of drinks and they, they say I don't feel anything. I'm ok. They're already impaired and they don't even know it because the first thing to go is your judgment. When people get behind the wheel, she wants them to think of her Joey or the goodreau brothers and everybody thinks it'll never happen to them, but they're wrong. Andrews is hoping that this will also make drivers be more mindful of cyclists on the road. The suspect in this crash is currently charged with two counts of death by auto. He is in custody in New Jersey live at Nationwide Arena, Carlo Roner and TV News.
