hold on to your Honolulu Blue Hats Lions fans week one delivered a game for the ages Detroit roared to a thrilling overtime Victory against the Los Angeles Rams the final score Lions 27 Rams 24 Ford Field was electric the energy was palpable this was more than just a win it felt like a statement David Montgomery the Lions new running back played the hero he punched in the game-winning touchdown the Lions defense led by the Ferocious Alex an alone shut down the Rams when it mattered most and let's not forget Matthew Stafford the former Lions quarterback returned to Detroit with his Rams Stafford threw for over 300 yard but it wasn't enough the lions got their Revenge this win felt personal a little bit sweeter against their old signal collar this game had it all big plays momentum swings and nail-biting tension the Lions showed grit and determination they battled back from behind they proved they're not the same old Lions this team has teeth they're hungry and they're ready to compete David Montgomery was the Workhorse he carried the Lions to Victory Montgomery rushed for 91 yards on 17 carries but it was his performance in overtime that sealed the deal the lions got the ball first in overtime they handed it off to Montgomery and he delivered Montgomery ripped off runs of 15 yds 12 yards and finally a powerful seveny touchdown run game over Montgomery's touchdown sent the crowd into a frenzy the Lions had arrived they had their guy Montgomery was the missing piece he's a tough physical Runner who can wear down defenses he's also a threat to catch the ball out of the back field after the game Montgomery was all smiles this is what it's all about he said playing in big games making big plays and getting the win the Lions faithful are already embracing their new star running back Matthew Stafford's returned to Detroit was the biggest storyline of the game Stafford spent 12 Seasons with the Lions before being traded to the Rams in 2021 he led the Rams to a Super Bowl victory in his first season in Los Angeles Stafford received a warm welcome from the Detroit crowd but once the game started it was all business Stafford showed flashes of Brilliance he threw some darts he made some vintage Stafford throws but the Lions defense did a good job of containing him they sacked Stafford twice and intercepted him once in the end Stafford couldn't quite get it done after the game Stafford admitted that it was strange playing against his former team it was definitely a little weird being on the other sideline Stafford said but once the game started I was just focused on trying to win section four anzalone's defensive prowess tackling the Rams hopes Alex anzelone was an absolute beast on defense for the Lions he was everywhere anzelone racked up 13 tackles including three tackles for loss he was a oneman Wrecking Crew anzelone set the tone early he made a huge tackle for loss on the Rams first possession he was flying around the field making plays all game long anzalone's speed and athleticism were on full display he was a nightmare for the Rams offense we knew we had to play our best to win this game ANS alone said after the game we have a lot of respect for Stafford and that Rams offense but we were up for the challenge Section 5 fourth quarter fireworks setting the stage for overtime drama the fourth quarter was a roller coaster ride the Rams tied the game at 24 with just seconds left on the clock it looked like the lions were going to let another one slip away but they never gave up the Lion's defense came up huge in overtime they forced the Rams to punt on their first possession then Montgomery took over he marched the Lions down the field and punched in the game-winning touchdown the Lions sideline erupted the crowd went wild fordfield was rocking this was the kind of wind that could jump start the lion season this was a total team effort said Lions head coach Dan Campbell I'm so proud of our guys they never gave up they fought until the very end section six a look ahead Lions momentum and future prospects the lions are 1 and0 they're feeling good but they know it's just one game they have a long season ahead of them the Lions have a chance to be special this year they have a talented roster they have a great coach in Dan Campbell and they have the support of their City the lions are for real they're a team on a mission and they're just getting started buckle up Lions fans it's going to be a fun ride thanks for watching and remember to like And subscribe
