my next guest comes from a big name in Republican politics he does not make public appearances but he is speaking out now because of what happened last week I want to bring in Jim McCain he is the youngest son of the late Republican Senator John McCain I've got some really big breaking news the Coalition that kamla Harris is creating and Democrats need to create a very wide Coalition in order win it's growing and expanding this time with a really big name John McCain son has just come out in support of kamla Harris it's almost unprecedented the level of Republicans who have said that they are not going to vote for the Presidential nominee on the Republican side I would not want to be at the McCain family Thanksgiving dinner this November but I am very grateful that Jim McCain John McCain's son has come out in support of KLA Harris it is going to take every single kind of American from every Walk of Life every political persuasion to say this election we need to do something differently we need to put country over party in order to make sure that we save and protect our democracy in November so thank you to Jim McCain here is the reason why he decided to take this route as you well know sir Arlington Cemetery is sacred to all people who have uh all people are members of the military all people who have served in the uniform it's a sacred area there's three generations of mccains that are buried there it's a violation because these rules are set in place the people who are buried there don't have an opinion we're the point of Arlington Cemetery is to go and show respect for the men and women who have given their lives to this country when you make it political you take away the respect of the people who are there they don't have an opinion because they can't have an opinion because they gave their lives to our country how eloquently put and they are taking away the respect that those men and women who served our country deserve and I just want to again thank you to Jim McCain's son for coming out and saying this and you know of course it's CNN so then they had to bring up the John McCain filmed an ad a campaign ad at Arlington Cemetery but look at how Jim McCain handled this because I'm old enough I remember uh in 1999 when your dad Senator John McCain uh had campaign video that showed him walking through the cemetery but but after it was pointed out um that some people thought that was inappropriate your dad called it a very bad mistake and apologized for it um if Donald Trump apologized for it and called it a mistake would he earn any points back with you um again I recognize it's not the exact same thing but I'm just wondering uh because this really seems to have bothered you that he that Mr Trump did this yeah I mean the first thing about uh you know John McCain you don't spend that long in politics without messing up once or twice so and the main point is that he pulled it down and he understood the solemn you know sanctu like Sanctified n nature of that of that uh of Arlington National Cemetery so if Donald Trump pulled it down and apologized I mean it would be the right thing to do but look at his history towards towards veterans honestly shame on CNN and Jake Tapper for trying to falsely equivocate these two different things John McCain intentionally shot an ad at Arlington Cemetery that means he got permission to be there and then when people got upset that he did that he took the ad down this is totally different than Donald Trump who didn't get permission when he was there everyone said you can't do this you can't do this you can't do this and he got his staff got into an altercation with federal employees at Arlington Cemetery amid all that push back Donald Trump did not take the ad down he left it up and he said tried to blame it on K Harris for not being there when it was not an Arlington Cemetery event it was a campaign event with supporters so shame on Jake Tapper for doing that when Jim McCain is doing the right thing and calling it out and saying that he's putting his country over his party here is why Jim McCain is supporting K Harris you know the one thing about John McCain is that he cared about his country and he lived his life that way so as we moved on and I you know I was gone for a year so I didn't have a chance to to change but as soon as I was back I see you know I I care about my family I care about equal rights of everyone in this country I care about all this and you know as much as I stayed as an independent I decided that you know it was time to move on and and do what I believe in you know the point of the fact of the matter that he said it constantly is country first you have to think about your country first however that is care about your country care about how making it better not being divided but being together as one to continue to be the greatest country in the world well I will say this I do think that America has a shot we have a shot at remaining maintaining to be the greatest country in the world if we have more Heroes like Jim McCain standing up for what is right because it's going to take a lot of Jim McCain's straight white men who are Republicans or grew up Republican or Republicans most their adult life coming out and doing something differently and that means supporting K Harris so I am grateful for him because like as we talk about on this channel it's when people come out like this they are giving permission structures for people who look up to them or see themselves in them to say okay well if he's doing it there's one time that I can do it I hope you all in the comments just kind of give him a round of applause because this is a really imagine being a Democrat like let's say it's in Reverse right imagine you're a Democrat and the Democrats go insane and you see yourself voting for a republican because the Democrats have gone so nuts I mean it's hard to hard to put your mind into that position but I've tried to think about it before and it is an incredibly hard thing to imagine leaving your party and going somewhere where you have never felt welcome before so we should welcome him we should say thank you thank you for your service and thank you for helping do what you can to save the country I don't know what's wrong with you young people you think you just fell out of a coconut tree
