Scotty with an Iron Bones yeah obviously has a real game plan here and knows the value of playing from the short grass hitting a high cut good looking shot yeah position a took the longer of the two clubs and just three quartered it there you go that's where we're used to seeing last week in that altitude he didn't know where that golf ball was waiting on a shot like that the nuances on these greens that are so new all right so scoty makes his three at three and he is back in the lead Al be it by one not two Scotty going with the big boy should be aiming a little further left here this is up the center of the Fairway let's see what it does relative that second bunker oh this could get way down there this will be as long as it hangs in there that'll be fine oh yeah sheffler and shafley tied at 10 under big swing with that nine cutting it towards the dead center of the green it's a safe play you could see the Grimace on his face he wasn't exactly happy with it I think he was just annoyed by the wind that was a nice putt just like Brad taught him Scotty for his birdie at seven see if he can get it there he did and he drops it in Scotty Sheffer you never know when he's just going to bust out and go on one of these crazy stretches three out of four four out of five looks like he's aiming right down that bunker and just let it cut off of that bunker doing just that cutting to the very center of the Fairway it appears y that just looks like he's going to hit that shot every time here from 105 yds just dead red Vinnie Johnson here instant offense he's hoping for micro wave there you go that's what you expect to see from sheffler never a doubt scottty sheffler number one started the day with a two- shot lead he's up three this start starting up the left side but falling right should be in good shape that second Bunker's 326 to it but the Fairway slopes the opposite way perfect coming off of Birdie from just 132 he's got to be looking at this flag intently as well got a little ground kick too there Steve the position Now to create some space for himself and shafley already missed yep never a doubt for Scotty all of a sudden he's at a Baker's Dozen under bar Bo it's it's a drive you want to kind of keep it down the left side if you can higher than average 180 and he loves it oh he should watch this thing run down the hill you can't see the Fairway at all cutting from the left center of the green this is a good looking shot we'll see an eagle putt if this is the right Club oh yeah whole High Scotty sheffler again you know you had a lot to manage there downhill Li did he hit it it's an easy four there'll be a little bit of disappointment there that he wasn't aggressive enough on that shot but beautiful drive still to 14 under and right now up by five hands moving on the club it's it's a way to get yourself to to go and Trigger your swing Scotty taking driver down the left side I think he really likes this one boy that is beauty I mean this Fairway is the hardest Fairway to hit today on any par 4 50% got to H something inside of five or six feet here he's almost too close almost short sided let's see if he's pulling it off yeah he won't be happy with that it's still an incredible drive this point it's hard to drive it in that spot there's some break in this here bones yeah breaking to the right just as xanders ball did for a six shot lead and he does cash it in Scotty sheffler he's five under today four under on the back nine alone wonder if he'll tie and take a draw here Terry potato this is a shot up the left side he's anxiously watching it just lands in a better area just got in the thick rough but you can see enough of it he'll easily be able to get up that in the front bunkers this is funny bones this where he is now this is where the Fairway used to be on the old course this game's screaming out of here yep that's where Mark was yeah not B exactly birdie a better here by the way he shoots the low round of the day outright we'll see kind of came down that Hill he's got to be careful here you want to get this high he actually managed to get a little spin on that ball that's a really nicely played bunker shot from that award live he wants to make this so badly got it there this time man what a day what a season building quite a career six under low round 16 under well he put on Clinic like he always says off the tea start with a two- shot lead then best round of the day got to be as successful the first day as you could ask for um yeah I I'm trying not to think much about the starting stroke stuff I think it's still a bit weird with it not being a traditional event but um yeah it was nice to get off to a good start um in the first round and uh yeah I feel like I did a lot of things well today just did the course kind of play how you expected it to play after a couple days of practice I I was more interested to see how they wanted to set up thef course cuz if they they wanted to set up as hard as they possibly could I think you'd get into an area where with new greens and the way the run-ups are still a little softer because they're new as well you could end up in some spots where you're not really rewarding good shots and iel like today the golf course was set up in a way in which the good shots were rewarded and if you're coming out of the rough to these pins you still it's still very difficult to hold the green so anytime you're in the rough you're you're really struggling to to try and make bar and um I thought it was an appropriate setup today what did you feel like the shot of the day was um gosh I don't know what was the you know it better than I do what uh was there any reaction when after one hole the lead is gone or you're just ignoring that no like I said I wasn't thinking about the lead out there today there's no uh there's no reason to it's the first first day of the tournament you know it's 72 H it's a long time out there to be to be playing with a lead or whatever it is so I was just focused on staying on little world and uh continuing to uh just try to is this going to be as much a stamina test just with how hot it is last week of the season from down here I think there's definitely an aspect to that um especially coming off two weeks in a row where you had a really hot week in Memphis and you had some some altitude last week that um would definitely Tire guys out a little bit so I'm sure there'll be a aspect to that was there extra homework for Ted then to adjust to a new course was there extra homework for him yeah yeah there was a lot of extra homework for Ted was there a place where it came in especially helpful um I mean it's hard to really narrow it on one shot but pretty much every shot I think it's it's very important just uh his knowledge of the course he put a lot of work in this week to uh get us both ready just because like you said I came off two weeks the last or sorry the last two weeks where you've had a hot week and then a week of elevation so uh fatigue could be a factor and so I did did my best to get some rest in the prep week and Tedd did a good job of getting out there and doing all
