down last night we visited the day before as part of our ongoing investigation into allegations of political corruption in Dalton they just rushed in here put police at the front of the door like they was doing a raid on the drug out something a team of Dalton police officers raided and shut down Pablo's baring Cafe and rinky baring Cafe both located on SI about a block apart everything going peacefully nothing going on there like 10 police cars came in and and they start pushing customers from here and he said if you don't leave we're going to lock you up employees and owners say it's part of an ongoing campaign of harassment by Dalton mayor Tiffany henyard that is costing jobs and money their business licenses have been Stripped by Dalton but they've continued to operate with a state license to stop creating chaos Dalton mayor Tiffany henyard at the helm of The Village's first packed meeting since Dalton trustees passed a resolution last month requiring her to turn over The Village's Financial records and asking the FBI to investigate her alleged misuse of Village funds the mayor admits to a $2 million deficit but trustees say it's Millions more Monday night the mayor the state controller has suspended some payments to the Village because it has failed to follow the law by providing Financial reports that was just today the controller says that she's concerned following our reporting on allegations of mismanagement at Dalton the decision means that the village won't receive $135,000 this year that the state usually transfers to communities for unpaid traffic parking citations and other judgments until recently henard enjoyed near unanimous support on the thoron Township board but now trustee Carmen Carlile says after trusting henyard and remaining silent she will be a whistleblower against henyard Carl released a statement to WGN that reads in part for the past 2 years henyard has manipulated employees vendors and residents using her position to increase her influence all while projecting a false image of success funded by the hardworking taxpayers of Thorton Township and the village of Dalton henyard shows no accountability or conscience for her actions against employees or taxpayers henyard has denied wrongdoing and claims her opponents are out for what she calls clickbait um my next appoint appointment will be for Village administrator last night Dalton mayor Tiffany henyard appointed a new top Aid to a $100,000 a year job without board consent 34 yearold Michael A Smith who's been active in South Suburban politics for years the reason for Mike is Mike is uh he have a wealth of great information he's a young uh person and ex politician uh he knows the laws like the back of his hand perhaps that's because Smith has been in and out of trouble with the law for years public reporting show Smith has been charged at least eight times with crimes ranging from domestic battery to official misconduct in 2012 Smith then a young trustee in dixmor resigned after pleading guilty to theft when he allegedly stole Gasoline by posing as a police officer then in 2018 Smith was working as an assistant Dean at Thorton fractional High School when he was fired for sexual harassment of a female student hey guys hey it's a Superman May tney a you're the people's mayor the super mayor took to social media to promote her party there was a bounce house skating and a food giveaway but I put my own money to make sure that I put on for my put my money with my mouth henyard said she paid after trustees refused they're trying to control her spending and were skittish because the event was advertised as the friends of Tiffany henyard picnic that's also the name of her campaign font her lawyer denies it was a political event but it's clear that bash was meant to bolster henards image as she faces a federal investigation into her spending in Dalton where she's the mayor and Thornton Township where she's the supervisor and for those that don't know let me make sure I'm crystal clear about this I ain't never took a damn thing in my life so I want to make sure y'all hear out my mouth Tiffany henyard seems to have sworn to make sure the banks in Dalton and Thorton Township are empty by the time she leaves office while people knew things were bad they weren't expecting it to be as bad as Lori Lightfoot revealed it to be now they are millions of dollars in debt let's go back a few weeks to see what exactly happened Tiffany henards entire tenure has been rif with accusations of corruption and favoritism yet she doesn't seem to care villagers have been trying to get her to back off for years though things came to a head when it was announced that the FBI was investigating henyard this was because multiple people had filed complaints against her including business owners who claimed that their businesses were shut down simply because they didn't support hen yard's political activities fast forward a few months and former Chicago mayor Lori Lightfoot was appointed to investigate henards Corrupt Practices of course henyard tried her best to resist she first tried to blame the village Trustees for The Village's debt and in a move that was sort of embarrassing she tried to veto the FBI investigation her veto was soon overridden by a majority vote from the Board of Trustees Tiffany has always been someone who maintains her innocence always subverting complaints against her as either anti-black or anti-female however she has previously refused to answer any questions regarding her now Infamous Las Vegas trip where she blew thousands in taxpayer money on hotels restaurants and airline tickets Lori lightfoot's first report also left both Dalton and Thornton residents reeling with a presentation filled with audible gasps following the report Tiffany henyard seemed to have disappeared when news channels tried to reach out after the Revelation that she had placed the general fund alone in millions of debt not to mention any other embezzlements the trustees also used the findings to make it clear that Tiffany henyard was not for the people and she was using their money to fund her own lavish lifestyle meanwhile Tiffany has also geared up to protect herself from any investigation even having her criminal defense attorneys sit in on board meetings the two seem to have become her new right-hand men especially as she has fired her former top Aid Keith Freeman this came during the first meeting where she tried to fire Freeman her actions and the fact that she hasn't submitted any Financial reports for the past 2 years mean that people have started taking action against her one move was to freeze the allocation of $135,000 that they'd usually receive for unpaid fees and traffic fines meanwhile henards actions have also started turning more of her supporters against her with one whistleblower emerging from the thoron Board of Trustees with things still heated up in Dalton Tiffany is still up to no good and every day something worse comes out recently it was her controversial hire for Village administrator what's worse as the village reels from the
