Should the Yankees consider sending down Anthony Volpe amid struggles?

Emanuel does vuli need to be sent down to Triple A for a little bit of a reset I think this is a ridiculous Topic in general the idea that they would send him down to Triple A like there's one of the best players on their team and you're in a neck and neck division race like I understand he hasn't hit to his fullest potential and the Yankees hope that gets better and more consistent over the next few years but there's like discounting one side of the ball like if the Jets have a great offense this year we're going to Discount their defense Al together like Anthony vulpi is the best defensive Short Stop in baseball removing not he is he's not better than Lor he's not even the best in town let alone the best in baseball he is the best defensive Short Stop in baseball removing him from the field does way more harm than good I understand the bad isn't good right but removing him from defense that's the most important position on the field and he's the best defensive shortstop in the league by the way while we may disagree on where he ranks defensively I do agree that this is a ridiculous conversation where did this come from because taking a day off or getting him reset a little bit in that regard sure where did kman after who's talking well seriously I'm serious where that's exactly what I was thinking when we're talking about this or you see the headlines you're like wait wait I'm looking at the stat lines and I'm like okay his stolen bases are going to match his home runs are down his strikeout percentage is way down from last season uh he's still a part of this team why would you send him down that would be the worst thing you could do to this kid he's a part of who they are he's a part of their identity right now and I'm thinking to myself I must have missed something he must have done something or something must have happened for us to even be talking about this that's preposterous to think about sending that kid down yeah well this is what happened happens when you have an idea as a writer you call a GM you get a flashy headline and now everyone's talking about it because you know it's August and it's kind of a slow time right we're not really into the penet races and we already have the trade deadline I agree with all of you I mean sending Anthony vulpi down is ridiculous not only is the message that sends in the clubhouse in the middle of a penet race as Emanuel point out but also what you're going to do to this this kids confidence every time you have a a a bad stretch you're going to look over your shoulders the Yankees are going to send you to triaa not to mention who's coming up that's better than Anthony VP in Triple A well that's why that's why I thought the idea of setting him down is ridiculous but let's not pretend that Anthony vulpi I mean he has been terribly disappointing for now two straight years which makes me think maybe he wasn't ready to contribute at the big league level the way that they expected him to contribute he's not supposed to be a 209 hitter like he was a year ago what what is what is vulp you talked about his glove okay fine well I could find other shortstops who could play defense what is Anthony vuli offensively because Emanuel to start the year I started saying that this guy is ready to take off and was on the verge of super stardom ranking vulpi stto judge the best one two three in all of Major League Baseball even ahead of what the Dodgers had and vulpi obviously is falling off you look at his numbers the last three months what is he as an offensive player right now and sure he could get better and grow Leaps and Bounds but he's somewhere between what he was last year and what we saw this year at his best which means if he goes on a hot streak here like Boon was saying on John Boy what does he have a 720 730 L PS with the elite defense which as he said is a pretty darn good baseball player so I think it's somewhere between there and he's still an incredibly young player so he makes the adjustment in the off season he levels out his swing the league adjusts back to him this happens over and over again is vulpi going to adjust back now time will tell but but setting him down in in in a pennant race makes no sense to me especially when you have no solution defensively what if I told you the yanies could have had a 23-year-old in his second year in the league who happens to be an elite infielder gunar Henderson from Baltimore they drafted vulpi before gunar Henderson he was a guy that was on the Yankees radar so it's not impossible to come up in the big leagues and succeed gunar Henderson is absolutely proof of that so I know we can make excuses he's a young player he's got to adjust things like that he he's not the only one doing it other players have done it and all he has to do is look across the field or look up in the standings depending on the day and look at what gunar Henderson has done in Baltimore the the development in the minor leagues is so important and you're seeing that right now right he skipped he did not spend as much time in the minor leagues and so what's he going to do he's going to come up and do his very best but he missed some of that development so right now he's trying to almost work backwards to get back to the point where he should be with the bat the defense is there I think he's going to be fine but he's having to learn at the big league level against big league pitching there is a huge jump going from the minor leagues to the big leagues when it comes to pitching and you're just seeing that right now for him right and that's why I think the idea of sending him down now doesn't make much sense however there's a big disparity between where he was expected to be and sending him down that's the problem Anthony vulp is nowhere near you know if gunar Henderson could do it or these other guys can come up and do it right away that's what vulpi was supposed to be for the Yankees and he's shown flashes of doing that so we also can't sit back and just accept like the Yankees are like oh no problem to see here no he's great no he had 209 last year he had 21 home runs this year he's got 11 home runs with the average up okay great well that's what you expect of Anthony bupy when by the way they didn't go out and get top free agents when they had an opportunity to get them they they sold us on the stop gap for vulpi he's got to be better than this so what are we waiting for year three year four year five exactly they need more from Anthony vulpi but the answer is certainly not setting him down to the minor league
