Bucky Blitz for a Sunday funay August 25th 2024 welcome in to your daily Blitz we're talking the rest of the depth chart on the defense today did offense yesterday we updated you on uh how things are are laying out this defense is pretty solid pretty concrete from the starter's point of view but um before we get rolling I want to remind you no live show tonight typically we go live at 7:30 p.m. Eastern here on YouTube and on Instagram and on Twitter we' had to push it back to Monday Jeff and Shawn are out running around who knows I heard Sean's in Vegas jeffson Ohio who knows what could be going on a lot of debauchery I'm sure anyway uh I'm just here uh dog sitting still yes still anyways hey uh please hit the bucky.com check it out get yourself a shirt for the season kick it off right you know with some new threads and um please like And subscribe on the videos the podcasts if you're listening there however you might be hearing this but again we're I I am so pumped that with this new platform we can come to you guys on Twitter and Instagram not just YouTube anymore soon Facebook is coming um it's Zuckerberg and his stupid rules you know blocker anyway let's get into this defense we got a lot to talk about here all right we're starting up front with the The Trenches the dline uh defensive end Jack Sawyer in his final year is your starter at D end D tackle Ty Le Williams his final Year Ty Hamilton his final year at both of those guys are at D tackle obviously and then defensive end JT to amoa in his final on four ti so those are your starters across the board but now this depth this depth gets interesting especially down in the Middle with the tackles Kayton Curry thirdy year guy is backing up Jack or JT kenyot Jackson also thirdy year guy they came in together backing up Jack and JT at the at the DNS now I got hero canoe third year dude as well that time has flown by for hero um will you be my hero I got him backing up Ty leak or Tai then uh Kaden McDonald second-year dude has shown some serious flashes coaches have coaches have raved about him so I got Kad McDonald hero canoe as your second your second wave of D tackles coming in um we know the starters are all NFL prospects the back backup ends are set in stone with curry and Jackson but don't forget about Mitchell Melton he could get some snaps as a dedicated pass rusher if go to a rushmen package where they have three defensive ends on the field bring in Mitchell melon he is he is a they call him one of the best the best pure pass rusher on the on the team they said it players um McDonald's been mentioned with the uh young defensive tackles he could get more snaps um you also got Jason Moore he's right there as well uh he should play and you're gonna see all these guys uh to some degree so with those two hero uh Larry Johnson should have five tackles that can play and a little cherry on top possibly a big huge Cherry Taiwan Malone can make it six we'll see what he looks like uh he's had a full year and a half dedicated to football at Ohio State no more baseball crap so let's see if he's a sixth man in that's going to be interesting to me linebacker we know the starters year Cody Simon in his fifth year uh was a starter back in 2021 Sunny Styles he's getting the start at will his he's in his third year time freaking flies doesn't it that was a loaded class three years ago anyway uh then at uh the mic linebacker behind Cody I got Gabe Powers arvel Reese is coming on we'll talk about him in a sec but U then I got CJ Hicks behind Sunny Styles so Cody Simon won he uh is the block O Jersey owner and Captain U he's the QB of the defense Styles you're starting will linebacker is going to be backed up by Hicks but uh they'll they'll rotate a bit um arvel ree is really making a push Jim noes has talked about him James laor Unitas has talked about him so question is how much will he play and will he keep earning more playing time you know is he if he's successful when he he goes out there maybe in later in games and he's making plays does he does he get earlier reps you know we'll see uh James ltis uh has some explosive and athletic players that he can rotate in this is a very very different linebacker room now from just from different from just a year ago even so um next up the corners let's talk about the corners on the outside Denzel Berg his fin final year Davis igos third year could be his final year uh Jordan Hancock his final year those are your starters across the board Hancock in the slot obviously um then behind them you got Germaine Matthews in his second year Calvin Simpson hunt second year as well then Lorenzo Styles Jr I got him backing up Jordan Hancock uh Styles is in his fourth year I believe he has one more year after this of Eligibility but uh Lorenzo Styles Jr is backing up hand Co in the slot so you got your best three best starting three corners in the country no doubt about it OG Walt loves his young players too though and and the guys that are coming behind them so Matthews has played outside and at nickel during Camp so he said he's played 5050 a little split of both um he's going to log the most meaningful snaps this fall in as far as the depth goes um then you got freshman Aaron Scott he's going to push to crack the two deep this fall as well so look for him coming up on the outside um all right safeties let's talk safeties here best safety duo in the country lean Ransom his final year fifth year Caleb DS in his second year yeah just his second year uh behind them I got Malik Hartford at the strong in his second year and Jaylen mlan true freshman behind Downs so uh you've got young inexperienced depth um the staff is is more concerned with safety depth than the corner depth when it comes to the secondary uh Hartford has the most experience in the two deep when it comes to the safeties but uh he he'll most likely be the next player in the third safety in um mlan is is the fourth bonso is right there battling mlan for that fourth spot again bonsu is a seconde guy though he would mainly be your strong safety your Bandit uh coming in behind Ransom so and don't forget the Buckey added some depth with uh Keenan Nelson Jr he's a third-year player uh he made four starts at South Carolina so he does have another year of Eligibility we'll see if he can get on the field early or at all uh the season I don't know I imagine he had to pick up the Jim nolles defense I'm sure it wasn't exactly the same at at South Carolina but uh he's somebody to keep in the back of your mind at safety so and Leroy Roker out there I mean he came just came in over the summer so U not a lot of time for him to get adjusted in this safety driven defense in case you didn't hear that before uh so Leroy Roker he's a true freshman maybe he sees the field I don't know he's he's got a lot to learn and he was a converted basketball player mostly uh so we'll see but uh I feel good about this defense top to bottom the it's going to be fun to see the depth some of the guys in this 2D play um so that's all I got for you today we don't forget Monday night 7:30 pm Eastern we are going live Monday night Monday Twitter Instagram YouTube please join me and hop in the chat that's all I got for you today talk to you tomorrow go buck
