course at fstream sports TV our YouTube channel check it out on YouTube it's fstream Sports from DSP media uh so game one of preseason week one is in the book for the Cleveland Browns and uh lots of things I guess to notice to talk about lots of things uh that occurred things were not favorable on the scoreboard but of course this is the preseason and while winds are nice they really don't matter what you really want is to uh you know show some progression show some uh so that some young players can can kind of be who you thought they were or better than you thought they were or in some cases maybe not who you thought they were um give the guys a chance to get out on the field against some other guys uh that aren't on their own team which is really what you're doing through the through the training camp and through the offseason uh workouts it's fine to it's finally fine to you know have these guys go up against guys in opposing uniforms and uh not so familiar faces so you like to see how they interact with each other how they interact with the opposing team and things like that but aside from the scoreboard there were some players I thought that made some pretty big waves in the preseason opener against the Packers and most notably you had Dorian Thompson Robinson wide receiver Jamari thrash and lots of reasons really to be optimistic for these guys both of these guys as well as kind of the rest of the offense you know we didn't get to see a ton of the starters here uh in any position across the offense or the defense for that matter but certainly some good things to to take out of it yes it was a lopsided loss but in that loss you saw I thought some some some key critical performances from some guys but the ones I want to talk about the most were of course Dorian Thompson Robinson and Jamari thrash so when you look back at uh DTR of course he did this last offseason right or last preseason he he was star of the preseason last year uh and I thought he picked up right where he left off last year he went 14 of 18 for 134 yards most notably though he demonstrated efficiency and he demonstrated Poise when he was under pressure and that's really what you want to see from your backup guy right and there's going to be some I think there's going to be some controversy here in Cleveland as far as who the the qb2 is I know that Winston comes in with a ton of experience as a starter I've just never been a big jamus Winston guy didn't like him at Florida State didn't like him in Tampa Bay definitely did not like him in New Orleans uh you know he's probably destined to be a backup in this league obviously but I don't know if it's meant to be here in Cleveland I honestly think DTR could give him a run for his money here in the qb2 spot as we get deeper into the preseason but you know I thought that DT's ability to make plays under pressure was on full display on Saturday night uh you know he had that one fourth and one run where he had to hurdle the defender to keep the drive going I thought that was impressive uh he had a late fourth quarter touchdown pass to Brown that was negated by a penalty but he didn't let that get to him he regained his composure quite quickly and mov the ball downfield taking the uh ball in that drive down to the one yard line setting up that one yard touchdown run by Robbins and I really thought his performance uh is steering him in the right direction to take that qb2 job away from jamus Winston um and we'll see Winston some here obviously in the next couple of games of the preseason but thought Robinson showed us something um and again before the injury last year he was showing us something there you know this I think I think he's got potential starting uh traits in this league probably won't be in Cleveland unless something drastic happens to uh DeShaun Watson but let's move over to uh Jamari thrash real quick uh I thought he also made a significant impact in the game he's definitely going to add some depth here to the uh already crowded wide receiver room he got three passes for 43 yards including a 22 yard catch and a 16 yard catch all on the same Drive in the second half thought he did a good job creating separation uh and making plays and in crowded parts of the field I think we kind of saw a little glimpse of his potential here of what he could do in Cleveland again adding some depth as a fifth round pick by the way don't forget he's a fifth round pick um so you know that crowded wide receiver room obviously includes Amari Cooper Jerry Judy Elijah Moore Cedric Tilman they're already on the roster but thrash's performance I thought on sun on Saturday uh clearly showed that these guys some of these guys could uh could uh have a run for their money here on the roster on the depth chart as we get into the uh guts here of the preseason and I think thrash could have a significant role here throughout the rest of the preseason the final two games of the preseason uh and then the uh coaching staff's kind of GNA have a decision to make and we'll just see how that goes for them but as the Browns continue their preseason look for bigger things from thrash from DTR they've both made strong cases just in the first game of the preseason against the Packers and yes kind of an embarrassing loss but again it's the preseason and you're looking for different things and I thought some of those different things that we saw were good things for the Browns so we will look forward to the Vikings next Saturday uh as they continue as the Browns continue their preseason it'll be a uh 425 kickoff eastern time uh and the Vikings certainly an interesting team to watch this this off season as well with some uh quarterback issues and new new players just like the Browns have so we will look further for the Browns this preseason to see who's going to shine who's not going to shine who's going to make the club who's not going to make the club but certainly some interesting
