today in history 14th September 1999 sunny and bright Cati dear diary today was an amazing day as kirati NAU and Tonga joined the United Nations it means they get to be part of a big group of countries that work together for good things I learned that these countries wanted to be in the United Nations to talk about helping each other and keeping peace I know that kir body NAU and T of small islands in the Pacific Ocean they wanted to join the United Nations because they have problems with things like rising sea levels and not enough resources being in the United Nations can help them solve these problems together with other countries Kira body became its own country in 1979 after being under the United Kingdom Nuru got independence from Australia in 1968 and Tonga has always been a kingdom by itself they all have unique histories but wanted to work together with other countries in the United Nations I imagine the leaders of kir Nuru and Tonga must be very happy today they probably went to a big meeting with other country leaders and talked about why they wanted to join the United Nations it must have been exciting to see them raise their hands to show they agreed to join I think it's so cool that the United Nations now has 188 countries that's a lot of countries all working together for good things it shows that the United Nations wants everyone to be included and have a voice in making the world better I feel happy knowing that c body NAU and Tonga can be part of important decisions now they can help make sure everyone is treated fairly and help with making sure we have clean oceans and air it's like they have new friends to help them when they need it today's event of cure body NAU and Tanga joining the United Nations is a big deal it's a step towards countries working together to make the world a better place for all of us I think people will remember this day as a day when more countries came together for peace and cooperation
