Trending searches: chase money glitch
A new TikTok trend has people chasing “infinite
free money” through a supposed glitch in Chase bank ATMs. But, as many have discovered,
banks don’t part with their cash so easily. The so-called glitch encouraged users
to deposit fake checks for large sums, which would sometimes appear as credited
funds before the checks cleared. Videos of people lining up at Chase locations
in New York City went viral, but the excitement was short-lived. Chase quickly
fixed the bug and began reclaiming funds. Chase Bank warned, “If something seems
too good to be true, it probably is.” Those who fell for the scam found their
accounts locked and facing massive negative balances. One user reported nearly $40,000
in deductions labeled “ATM deposit error.” Despite the brief euphoria—people
dancing with cash and flaunting Chase cards—experts stressed that this was
just old-fashioned check fraud. A financial educator noted that those involved
will face serious consequences and emphasized that any unexpected bank
error should be reported immediately. As one expert put it, “This ‘unlimited
money glitch’ is just fraud, plain and simple. You’re going to get in huge
trouble if you do something like this.”
