call today as promised temperatures today across East Alabama hotter than yesterday 96 for the high today well above the average our low this morning actually 64 pretty cool overnight and early this morning a little bit below the average for this time of year record high temperature 101 the record low at 53 look at these sunset and sunrise times and sun setting now at 7:15 tonight and not Rising tomorrow morning until 6:15 weather on your street on a Tuesday night taking you out to Coleman Street in hefin it is going to be warmer tonight than it was last night so instead of low to mid-60s Upper 60s tonight one more night in the 60s for lows in hefin and all across East Alabama coming up tomorrow really a repeat of today if anything a degree or two warmer tomorrow so this is basically intense summertime heat we're still in August obviously in Alabama 97 for the high tomorrow plenty of sunshine no rain in the forecast on Marsh Lane and meal lakes and Oxford down off Highway 21 South of town 97 that's about as hot as it's going to get in late August in Alabama as we look at the rest of the work week more of the same coming up we'll have sun and maybe a shower on Highway 11 in downtown atala in edwa County coming up for the rest of the week temperatures in the mid to Upper 90s that will continue for Thursday and Friday as well the only difference being about a 1 and three chance of late afternoon early evening scattered shower or thunderstorm and here's the 7 day forecast you'll see we're going to Broad brush after tomorrow about a 30% chance of rain every day all the way through the Labor Day holiday weekend so Thursday 30% chance of a shower still Hot 96 Friday about a 1 and three chance of a rain shower still hot 95 Saturday and Sunday for this Labor Day holiday weekend temperatures will be again well into the '90s maybe not quite as hot as we're going to see during the work week but again plenty hot with only about a one and three chance of a late afternoon early evening scattered shower or thunderstorm now for Labor Day itself a little bit better chance of a shower on Labor Day Afternoon a CH chance of rain about 40% and then we actually do expect a big change in temperatures next week Tuesday as you head back to work and school after the day off we'll see temperatures only in the mid 80s and we're going to see rain chances bumping up to around 50% for the early part of next week and as we take a look at the radar this is basically what we're going to see for the next day or so we'll see this tomorrow we'll see this maybe change a little bit on Thursday but you some scattered showers down here in Pike kensaw down in Houston County Dale County those areas down through there nowhere close to us here in East Alabama this is not rain up here on the Madison Jackson County Line This is basically ground clutter that The Radars picking up there what they call clear air mode here at the high top radar in Jackson County so clear skies that's what we have no chance of rain the forecast none today none tonight none tomorrow none tomorrow night probably going to be Thursday afternoon before we see a chance of late afternoon or early evening scattered shower or thunderstorm I'll be back here tomorrow morning bright and early 6:00 a.m. with your Wednesday at a glance and right back here tomorrow night with aan local news as we continue to detail the heat across East Alabama coming up next in Sports Jacksonville State getting ready for their opening game of the year coming up on Thursday night at M first stadium and Jordan Smith has all the details right now in sports Jordan thanks John the Jacksonville State Gamecocks are set to open their 2024 season this coming Thursday night at Burgess snow field at am first Stadium the Gamecock ended last season with an overall record of 9-4 and a 6-2 record in conference play coach Rich R is now in his third season with Jack State as he said yesterday that he's excited to play on Thursday night while being on National Television I'm certainly playing on a Thursday night with some national TV is going to be uh good for our program and our guys have worked hard at that I don't think we've really kind of thought about too much of the TV thing we've just been worried about getting ready to play but uh they've worked hard I'm really proud of our guys and ready to play a game see what we got after losing quarterback Z well at the end of the season there was a lot to be focused on as far as the quarterbacks are concerned as of now coach Rich Rod has not named a starter but he's narrowed down the list we got a lot of them uh and good ones too I mean we got you know right now we had we don't play today we we we don't have to name a starter until the kickoff but both Logan and and Tyler Huff are the two older guys and uh Logan has a little more experience in our system but Tyler's an experienced players played a lot of football has done a good job so those two are right now in my opinion co-starters and then Zion Turner is right behind them as well so we've got you know three guys that have gotten a lot of game experience which is a good thing now it's all new for us for some of them in their system but uh I feel pretty comfortable that uh with those three guys playing and even Kaden K and and taan smoo have shown uh some good stuff too so we're I think we're deeper at quarterback back than probably uh certainly than we've been in the last couple years the Gamecock will host Coastal Carolina Thursday night kickoff of set for 700 p.m. the Oxford lady yellow jackets took to the court last night for a quad match with Dono mford and cl County the yellow jackets had a superb night on the court sweeping all three opponents Oxford defeated clbr County 2513 2514 257 they defeated mford 2512 and 2518 finally the yellow jackets took down the Falcons of Dono 2523 and 15 to9 that's it for E Local sports let's head back over to Mike and Katie thanks for that
