In this game, Penn State hosts Penn State next week at home for their third nonconference matchup of the season. All right welcome back inside our HQ studios Jeremy Saint Louis alongside Beanie Wells and Danny Kanell to quickly react to this. A bit of a sweat there beanie, but Penn State managed to survive. Most certainly is in the pregame. You know, Danny and Damien both talked about this could be a trap game for Penn State. And I wasn't a believer. You know, I thought Penn State was going to come out playing with a chip on their shoulder. And they did not do that whatsoever. For them to give up that many passing yards to Bazelak and not get any pressures on the quarterback. Yeah, they got two picks late in the game, but it was quite embarrassing. I was shocked to actually see that because I was talking about Penn State as being one of those teams that could potentially get into the college Football Playoff and them getting Big Brother being Michigan and Ohio State off their back in the Big Ten. They did not play very well today whatsoever. It was a surprising game. The biggest surprise was on the defensive side of the ball because they did have two backs go over 100 yards. Rattler was pretty solid. He made one interception, but other than that he was pretty good. But this defense, which has historically been the strong suit, remember all offseason, was about this new offense and the new firepower and how they were going to try to get big plays. Well, the defense, I don't know what they were doing in meetings. And they have new defensive coordinator Tom Allen, who I'm sure it's going to be a long week of practice. I will say this for Penn State, you didn't lose like it's a win is a win. It's a win. Like there's a lot of teams out there that suffered rough losses. This could be the kind of game that is a wake up call, so that you don't have another one of these later in the season, because the coach, James Franklin, can remind them every time they play and they're a heavy favorite. He can say, hey, if we take this team lightly, you saw what happened against Bowling Green. This team could beat us. So that's the way you have to approach it. But there are some causes for concern on the defensive side of the ball. And now, I mean, they don't play again until the 21st against Kansas State. So they get a little time a little bit of time to kind of rest. One of those bye situations where they get times to kind of regroup and everything. What do you think James Franklin says to his team after this game? It's probably a big sigh of relief. And again, it's like a warning for them, like, hey, you guys have been reading your press clippings. You guys have been hearing about how good you are, how you're supposed to be in the playoffs now just because you won one game. You saw what happens when you let off the gas and when you don't prepare the way you should, because that's probably where it started. In practice, guys are a little bit lackluster and they're starting to buy into, hey, you guys are this great team and you start watching a little less film. You don't quite go as hard as practice. You're like, yeah, we'll be fine if you don't make a play. So that I think will be the message of James Franklin. Okay this is the time we need to dial in, and I think they'll respond. And as a coach and a player, you can always tell how the game is going to go by the week of practice. People say that and it sounds cliche, but you can tell when guys are letting off the gas in practice how they're going to play on Saturdays. One of the things we've been talking about over the course of the early part of the season is just how much every game, every play, we've heard coaches talk about this, how every play matters. You know, now sitting at sitting at eight in the bowl, is there a poll implication here, Danny. Probably they might drop a, you know, a spot or two. It depends on what happens around them. But I think the most important thing about this, you know, the win is a win is a win is had they lost this game, that is a loss that could potentially keep you out of the playoffs. If you're in the mix, let's say you're ten and two at the end of the season and you have that loss. You know, hanging around. The committee looks at that and they're like that is devastating. But they don't really pay attention. They're not going to go back and really look into what happened. The Bowling Green game because it's only week two. So they kind of forget about it and they see it as a W. So from that standpoint, it's not a devastating loss. And again it kind of goes back to James Franklin's probably like I hope we do drop. Like then you can get on your players and say see you got to go out and prove it again to everybody what you're made of on the flip side of this, this is why I love the CFP, because let's say bowling Green goes out, runs the table, wins the Mac. And now they're talking about getting talked about as a team that's getting in the College Football Playoff. Then it looks a little bit different for Penn State. I love college football. This year in Bowling Green and Bowling Green. I mean they acquitted themselves well in this game. Certainly acquitted themselves well in this game against one of the top ten teams in the country. But for Penn State now you get a little time off because you got Kent State coming up next. And that is on the 21st of September, by the way, Drew Roller to Danny's point. Two touchdowns an interception. He was 13 of 20 for 204 Connor Bazelak though what a day for him 25 of 39 for 254 had the two touchdowns. But unfortunately for him also threw the two interceptions. But the big story is that Penn State gets the
