Montana that my sister brought back from a trip there so uh really really really good it reminds me of U screw Ball but of course has that chocolate flavor a pretty good whiskey yeah we're going with the the the sweet sweet moonshine sweet whiskey tonight uh we got a good one on tap for you guys this evening I do want to mention I don't know if we dropped this on our last episode but we've entered into a partnership you'll be seeing that a little bit later but it's through a Sportsbook where with bet stamp uh you guys can sign up through our dedicated page that's signup expert.com Panthers I be talking about that you'll see that through throughout the season so stay tuned for that we do appreciate your guys' support but we want to start off we do got some good guests tonight um we have someone returning and a newcomer with us um these are the guys over at the keep purring podcast Ben Tucker and Eric brgs gentlemen thank you guys for coming on tonight how are you all doing great how are you guys doing thank you for having us I was gonna say I um Got My H2O uh I the rest of my beer um earlier this evening so I have nothing fun to drink on the show but that's all right Eric how you doing I'm good I've got liquid IV not a sponsor uh but uh you know sometimes you just got to rehydrate yeah there's nothing wrong with that nothing wrong with that well let's get into it because the Panthers decided to drop their unofficial dep art so I want to start there and kind of just go through it we can kind of drop in some of the things we've seen at training camp um but let's get into that because I think there was some telling things on there and it I know people they don't want to overlook you know make a big deal out of this because it is the first unofficial depth chart but let's talk about it a little bit here uh and kind of just open up the floor to us all here just to kind of chat and what are our thoughts on it um you guys can see it hopefully on the screen here um just initial thoughts and I I guess I'll start with Ben yeah um so I know a couple people that I've seen online were a little I guess surprised that um Mingo was wide receiver 3 I was not I think we've all seen like how he's been through Camp so far I mean arguably one of if not the camp MVPs so far so the fact that he's wide receiver 3 is to me is not surprising but I I the reason I like it is because um we know liette uh you know has the injury and so he's dayto day right now uh and he's been a little up and down you know so far during camp and I just look at it like hey man if Mingo is gonna play you know if how he's been during Camp is going to translate to the season then and we can kind of bring liette along a little slower you know and there's not that pressure on him to go out there immediately and be you know know uh one of the top two or three targets for Bryce I think that's a great thing so that kind of uh stuck out to me and then the the other thing that I wanted to just mention that I'm just very like very concerned about uh and I heard dunk from unnecessary bluntness he mentioned this too on his uh his live stream I think yesterday Chandler zala um the backup is he the backup Right Guard is that where we're at or left guard left guard okay yeah I mean I know like he's there he's he's a body um but I'm just I'm still very concerned about Zavala in general I mean off the season he had last year um what was it 7.1 he had like a 7.1 pass block score PFF score from last year um I've seen him get beat several times in in Camp um so the fact that he the backup to uh Damen Lewis who has also been hurt at times during Camp yeah that's concerning to me like personally I don't I don't want Zavala anywhere near um being asked to protect rice right now in an actual game that counts um but a few other things but I'll I'll stop there those are the first couple things that kind of stuck out to me Eric just your initial thoughts on the depth chart I know I don't know how much you can really make of this at this point but um what do you think of the wide receiver ranking I guess um because that's really been the talk is how's this wide receiver room gonna Stack Up um as we head into the season yeah I think that um you know for me the wide receivers is mainly you know the talking points here but I wasn't surprised about Mingo I was a little bit surprised about TMJ um and kind of where he ended up just he's had a great camp so I'm not necessarily surprised based off of his most recent performance um but we just hadn't seen anything out of him in a while and so I think that he's benefiting from having fresh eyes uh you know uh fresh people um evaluating his talent and his abilities and uh seems to really kind of have like a renewed Spirit uh about him there um I do think uh you know trying to figure out how many we end up keeping um coker's had uh you know some good showings ISM has had some showings as well um so I think it's really going to be interesting to see how many we're able to carry and uh you know who we who we don't dress out on on Sundays yeah I'm kind of bouncing back to Ben's point about the o line I I kind of pose this to you Bryson is the Panthers invested heavily um most would say they probably overpaid for Damen Lewis some would say they even paid overpaid for Robert hunt how much they invested in that interior and and we both have been to a couple practices now and it seems like the o line is getting beat more often than not and Bryce young is getting pressured and we're seeing DJ Johnson who's 30 [ __ ] years old it seems like at this point and uh coming his second year into the league and we're seeing obviously Clowney the guys's a beast we know that but Bryce young time and time again being pressured How concerned are you with this s line are you are you just kind of blowing it off and seeing until uh the actually game start no definitely not blowing it off I think we've learned our lesson uh blowing off concerns in uh training camp and preseason games last year but yeah I think uh the times that been there Curtis and the times I've been there without you uh I think that you know there's been players out uh the line really hasn't played together as one I apologize if you hear my dogs don't know why they're barking but uh yeah yeah they're they're riled up about it too apparently but um as a cohesive unit I I don't think they've had a whole lot of time together with everyone every single person being inor moton's gotten a lot of Veteran days like you mentioned Damen Lewis has been out uh with an injury um I think it takes a while for the offensive line line to um kind of get on the same page probably a lot longer than most other positional groups so uh it is coning I mean I to say it's not is is just turning a blind eye and I think that's irresponsible um you know we've seen a lot of off-script throws from Bryce Shan which we've talked about or which they talked about impressor and um you know encouraging that price but I think um I can see why he's not playing in the first preseason game let's just say that yeah and we'll get to that later that's a little tease for our conversation later on because I know it's a hotly contested topic on Twitter right now um I think it was Mike K Mike K would might been one of the guys over at the Charlotte Observer that put out an article it had to be in June maybe of maybe even it was Joe person talking about Chandler zala a possible cut candidate and I remember retweeting it or quote tweeting it and I said some the fact like I I just I'd be shocked if they got rid of a guy they just drafted last year but after seeing some of those clips uh and after seeing his play last year and then seeing some of those clips on Twitter now I I think I tweeted the other day Who the hell's 62 um because it seems like forever ago that guy was starting last year which is insane and he he looked awful out there alongside Corbett and Corbett um he kind of just left Corbett to the wolves on one of the videos I saw I think it was from two fans in the stand shout out to them um but man it's crazy that that guy was protecting Bryce young last year like insane to me so yeah I mean there's there's definitely concern there with this o line my my biggest fear this this season was going to be icky and Corbett on the o line um on offense and um you know icky has shown some flashes here in Camp he's had some he's had some decent plays and then there's times where there's guys coming free and it's you know is is is that a guy he's supposed to be getting on the edge there or is he supposed to let him fly by and they're doing you know a play action roll out to the right and the guy's coming from the left but it's concerning and we're in training camp we're not in preseason yet and it just seems like a lot of the times Bryce young has little time to throw like he did last year and Panthers spent boatloads of money to try to fix that so um yeah I mean I this goes back to thing I've said all offseason that people need to pump the breaks because I think this thing is going to take longer than many folks think I mean this 8 n and 10 and seven and uh seven and whatever combination you want to put out there I think that's a little steep I really do I think we need to temper our expectations going to this year because I think it's going to take a little bit longer Dave Canalis has talked many times when he's asked about this offense and he said yeah they're doing you know they've had good moments Bryce has been good he hasn't been great like people need a temper expect expectations here because that's where you get yourself in trouble and I get it you don't want to be in this um you know spiral of you know losing Seasons all the time but it's going to take a bit for this the the train to get rolling does anyone disagree with that no I mean I agree I agree with you like I want to be you know the glass half full optimistic dude which I normally am but like man I'm also just we were just burned so badly last last year and so I am trying to put my you know realism uh hat on this offseason and uh like we're Eric and I are going to do we're g we'll do like prediction record predictions and stuff like that but yeah I I personally can't realistically see more than like five to seven wins um and and let's be clear if we win six to seven games and Bryce young looks better and we're competitive you know and we're in games and we don't look like the worst team in the NFL like I think I'd be fairly pleased with that like we won we won two games last year so I I am trying to temper my expectations and um and but to to to what you said Curtis and and Bryson as well about the offensive line like it is by far my like number one concern with the team right now um and I I keep seeing people say yeah but when the star when the five starters are out there um they've looked pretty good I'm like okay yeah but how often how we can't expect the five all five starters to always be out there the guy like Zavala and Christensen and hopefully we get uh what's his name Yosh Neiman hopefully we can get him back at some point soon because I think he'll be important but yeah man I'm I am very concerned right now about the offensive line so I'm I'm paying attention to that closely tomorrow even though Bryce isn't playing yeah I would I would say I think uh uh Bryson and me both agree that we've we've been really big on Taylor moton this last year and even the year before and even he has made some uh just it just seems like he's getting beat in in training camp I don't I don't know we'll see I mean again he's go like when if he goes up against clown I mean that's guy he's an Elite Talent but um there's been some plays where it's like damn Taylor M's getting his ass kicked out here what's going on so yeah I mean it's I think we need to Temp our expectations I kind of wanted to get your guys' take because I've seen your opinions a little bit on Twitter and I know where Bryson Falls within this but going back to the receiver group a little bit the Jaylen Coker the Devin Tomkins the TMJ conversation where do you guys fall within that where do you have how do you stack that up if we're talking wide receiver six so let's say Deontay Johnson thin mango liette [Music] um I guess those four let's say those four the locks how do you stack the back end of that wide receiver room and Eric I'll start with you on that yeah I think um you know I think TMJ makes it at this point just based off of how well he's played uh in Camp um you know I go as far as that that last spot between ISM and and Coker man I just don't know what to do about that because you know poker if he hits if he hits the waiver wire um and we don't keep him on the the full roster he's gonna be gone somebody pick him up and I feel almost the same way about ISM like last year he never got the opportunity to show how he can be the gadgety type guy the fast guy like at the last couple of games we saw like a few little looks there um but I don't think we've had the opportunity to fully evaluate you know what his contributions can be there um you know maybe in the return game those type things so I I don't know I feel like I'm playing Solomon you know trying to trying to trying to split the two of them and and make it equal I I think if I have to go with just six I think I I think I go with jayen Coker um but we also just traded for ISM last season so I you know it's kind of one of those I'm glad I'm not Dan Morgan I'm glad I'm not Dan uh or Dave Canalis having to make these decisions um I don't know I I guess if I had any mini miny Moet I'd keep C so who would Eric who would be your six then can you name the six guys you would keep then if you they keep six yeah so I mean it's got to be Deontay it's got to be theen and Mingo um of course X and then Marshall and Coker I mean I I I guess that's what I have to go with I don't I don't know how to make that decision I don't get paid enough to make that decision Eric Eric Eric so you so you got ism so you cut us is Eric well listen you're you're gonna have to cut one of them and they're it's it sucks to cut either of them so like I don't feel like I can go right on either either way oh there's a right way to go I guess I guess if I have six then I'll be the contrary one I will uh I'll take Jaylen Coker and uh see and just you know Black Shear is gonna be uh Return Man and then ISM who the hell knows he's headed with this where where are you at with that with the back end and then your your six wide receivers so yeah I'll I'll go kind of the opposite as far as the ism I my personal uh depth chart is going to be ISM I think he's an absolute lock for wide receiver 5 he has the return uh capabilities obviously he he was electric at times with that last year and I I am like a huge um I've been hyping him up a lot um really since we traded for him last year but like Eric said um he didn't get as much of an opportunity last year but he's been impressive during training camp as well um so he is my wide receiver five ism is my wide receiver five and then to me the wide receiver six is between Coker and TMJ and um for me I'll try to boil down my thought process on that in a nutshell TMJ we have uh what is this year four for him we have you know all albeit sporadic we have a lot of game tape on him at this point and I know he can still develop and improve and all that stuff and he's looked great in training camp but um he also uh I look at it like uh Canalis and Co are not they don't have any necessarily any loyalty to TMJ you could say the same about ISM but I still think ism's a lot because of the return capabilities that he brings um Coker they went out and obviously didn't draft him but he was an undrafted free agent he had they gave him a a a sizable contract for an undrafted free agent U more than some late round draft picks get paid and um he's looked fantastic as well at times in training camp um he's big he's strong he can I don't know if you guys saw this but I I found this the other day that I didn't realize the dude actually had the high highest recorded vertical leap at the combine which was like for wide receivers which was like whoa I did not know he had that in his bag um so and I look at it like he's younger Coker Coker to TMJ like coker's younger he's cheaper um and like Eric said the he made a good point of like if they send Coker to the practice squad he's getting snatched up immediately and um also Mike K confirmed that there are no longer protections for practice squad players so uh I I personally think it would be a dumb decision to to try and move Coker to the practice squad if you're Dan Morgan um but but I will add another receiver if we keep seven um I think TMJ is a very strong candidate in that spot but Tomkins Devin Tomkins man good Lord that guy is fast like he just brings a completely different element to it I don't necessarily think that we'll keep seven so if I had to say six it's the top four Deontay Thelen Ming go Le get ISM and then Coker for me but I also wouldn't be shocked if it was TMJ instead of Coker at this point personally before Bryson goes I'm gonna jump in here um just want to shout out Ricky appreciate you tuning in I see you in the chat uh we got a team Coker guy in here as well um just throw that up there sorry Eric I covered your face there for for a second there um but I'm pulling for Coker I really like the dude like his family um like his story and the you know undrafted guy obviously Panthers put some money on him because they you know they thought something of him um I just don't know if he makes the roster I think he's a practice squad guy if he gets picked up by another team I think that's more of the reality I do think TMJ and I and I'm all for and if you haven't F seen us on Twitter I'm all four playing the young guys this year this seems like a rebuild to me let's see what these guys got I want to see Javon Sanders out there starting over Ian Thomas I've been riding that boat for a while but um I don't know I think TMJ has shined a bit in training camp um Canalis is coming in with new eyes we can't look at L frank G clearly didn't like TMJ last year that I mean the guy never played at all um and I get it and I I see the I see the complaints online about TMJ and I get it I've seen drops at training camp already this year with him so um but I think I do think TMJ when it what if it comes down to it he's gonna make the roster over him um I do agree with Ben I think ism's a lock if you listen to Canalis a couple uh I think it was his last press conference he mentioned the value in special teams with him specifically and I think that's the reason why he makes this team um I don't know how much value he's going to add in the wide receiver room and how much opportunity he's going to get and we'll obviously see with Lee get's injury and we'll talk about that in a minute um but I think at the end of the day I don't I just I don't know if Coker is gonna make it I don't I and I get he's a fan favorite because of the story and everything I just don't see it and Bryce and I'll let you take the floor cuz I know where you lie on this one yeah um let me start with uh the person mentioned in the chat uh I'm G tell you guys right now Devin Tomkins is making the 53 man roster uh there there's nobody in the wide receiver room there's nobody on this roster that moves like he does he brings an element of speed to to that wide receiver room that's unmatched um we've seen it through training camp we saw that video recently with that nasty route he put on I don't even know if it was but God bless his soul uh he was uh he got his ankles taken um I think de Tomkins is a is a Canalis guy uh I think ism is not I think TMJ is not of course Canalis came over from from Tampa Tomkins was there Tomkins had some issues this offseason I think with domestic violence issues he got cleared and then was signed by Carolina and brought in and he's done nothing but impress uh throughout Camp um whenever he gets opportunity he is making plays and he is faster than everybody on the field and I think that Carolina's missed that aspect in the wide receiver room in particular for a long time so I think Tomkins makes the 53 and and for me it comes down to uh it comes down to TMJ and and and Coker because I think ism is in ISM and Tomkins are very redundant I think they're you know they're almost the same player I think Tomkins is faster I think ism's got a little more experience in the return game obviously but I think uh when you talk about Koker and TMJ uh C mentioned a little bit uh coker's younger um I think Koker and Ben mentioned it as well they brought him in they made him a priority and I think uh you know they don't have any uh like connection to to the players that were already on this roster so they're going to make a decision what they think is best moving forward and what player provides the best opportunity for growth and I think when you look at it uh tmjs made plays throughout camp for sure I can't discount that I think Coker with the little opportunity he's had versus the twos and the threes has looked really really good as well and and when you talk about Ben mentioning you know the highest vertical leap and uh in the combine and he brings speed and I think one of his knocks coming out of uh college was well one the talent um the talent level he played against and two his route running but his route running has been Spectacular from what I've seen in training camp versus NFL level Talent so uh for me I'm keeping Coker and I'm keeping Devin Tomkins uh and I'm sorry Ben and I'm sorry Curtis I don't think ism is a lock in my opinion um so I I think it it just for me I look at that situation ISM versus Tomkins where would Dave Canal's lie and I think while he does talk highly of ism and he directly about ISM because he was asked about ISM um I think in in my mind he leans Tomkins and I I I think it's just hard to deny that with the speed that he's put on the field in the in the Talent Lev he shown already in Camp can I ask you can I ask you guys your opinion on this so I I noticed that and and I might be totally wrong I may have just completely um missed it but I have observed that I think Dave Canales in his press conferences has mentioned all the guys that we just named even down to Devin Tomkins ISM obviously the top four guys at receiver I have not once heard him or do I remember hear him hearing him mention Jaylen coker's name in a press conference throughout training camp um and I just found that I I found that kind of I don't know if odd is the right word I just found it interesting that he's kind he sort of mentioned all these other guys but he was on what was it uh k k Adams uh you know she was at training camp the other day and She interviewed Dave Canalis and Luke Keeley there and I swear he R he like rattled off six or seven different receivers just talking about like how good of a camp these guys are having and he didn't mention Coker and I'm just like is this is that a strategic Choice are they like trying to this is like the um the uh you know conspiracy theor theorist in me right now I'm like are they trying are they making a strategic choice to like downplay coker's impact on the off chance that they try and like hide him on the practice squad or something like I don't know I think you need to put on your tinf foil hat bin like that that one that one might be a little bit too far buddy because we're gonna see him in the pre well listen we're gonna see him in the preseason games and I think um you know we're gonna see a lot of them now who knows how good the balls are going to be thrown um or how well they're going to be thrown but you know we're we're GNA start seeing you know what the wide receivers can actually do uh when we're in we get the preseason we got the Jets Practice coming up like once once we start getting into those things I remember last year when the Jets came to town uh we were like oh bleep after after the practice because we had all been thinking hey things were things were looking really good um in in training camp and then um reality hit and so that's what I'm really that's what I'm really waiting for is we're going to see in the preseason games who of these last you know four five who stands out and you know who does what ISM did last year quite frankly for the Chiefs right uh ISM had like three touchdowns or something he was a preseason uh MVP right yeah so um you know we're GNA see who who of the of the newer guys stands out um you know in the games but that Jets practice we're really going to see where maybe like TMJ is and maybe um you know Legette and you know we're just going to start seeing four through six we're going to really see where they come where they stand and I'll say too Ricky I know Rick's in the chat I don't know if he's still watching or listening but um I think I saw Ricky mention this the other day that like hey one of our one of our receivers ultimately could come from another team we have a first waiver pickup like what if what if the Texans cut uh mie John mie which I don't think oh Bryce young better be in Dan Morgan's office if that happen seriously I don't know we'll see but but Coker kind of reminds me um and I can't think of the guy's name said I'm hoping you can help me out here because we've had we talked about him last year it reminds me of the guy the last couple years in training camp that always made plays he played like every damn position um and his name's escaping me from last year and he always made plays when the ball was thrown his way but he just never made the team he was always a practice squad guy and that's kind of how I see Coker I could be wrong on that I can't think of the guy's name off the top of my head I was trying to talking about Brandon zra no it was another guy um and I do and I I don't want to compare the two as like their talent level I just this kind of similar situation like Coker when he comes in yeah he does he does make plays but when you see that when you see those wide receivers stack out TMJ is usually in there before Coker like that and that's I I don't think that's just random I think that's intentional and I think you kind of got to pay attention to that a little bit and we'll see how the train uh preseason games play out here um that's just I just think it a great story I hope I do hope he makes the team somehow I just I don't know if it happens at the end of the day um Eric I'm glad you mentioned plumber because me and Bryson were talk about this that guy's terrible he really I mean I I didn't realize this but I went to the FSU uh Louisville ACC title game last year and he was in at QB in that game and I was looking at it and I remember in that game like both of the QBs sucked it was an awful game it was all defense they scored like 10 points total between the two the guy had like aund and some yards with 30 attempts he was terrible and then when we were there on what was it Sunday last weekend of training camp he I mean when he was destroying the coaches this was before they were actually doing like seven on seven team drills one-on ones he was overthrowing everyone like just air mailing the [ __ ] out of everything so I looked at Curtis three times in a row after passes and each three times I turned to Curtis he goes yikes yikes yikes it just scares me because it it sucks because some of these guys that we want to see perform the cers of the world the isms all these other guys how are they going to get an opportunity when they're open the guy's throwing five yards above their head so like that sucks that part the valuation part of that sucks because it's really hard to see what you know and I know I get it they they make their money in practices too but like it's different when you're out on the field and we'll talk about Bryce Young a little bit later we'll get into that conversation but um let's talk about liette let's talk about the injury for a minute sticking with the offense How concerned are you guys I get it we dodged the bullet but how concerned are we with leeet and his injury sounds like he's dayto day no fracture in the foot Ben I'll start with you definitely dodg a bullet um I kind of like I mentioned earlier because Mingo has emerged so so much in this Camp um I think that's kind of helping me not freak out as much about the Legette thing um and and we have some other guy like we have some other guys that are capable in our wide receiver room this year it just it feels so much better at least right now than it did last year so like I I can't wait to see him back out there and and like I definitely don't want them to you know Rush him back and potentially make it worse I get we haven't really gotten much information um you know since earlier this week and um was he even out there like at training camp on Monday or Tuesday like were there any sightings of him or was he just kind of in the locker room or something I didn't see him or I didn't I didn't hear about seeing him that I don't know yeah I don't I don't remember any pictures or anything like that but yeah so I'm not I'm I'm not super concerned like I'm not even on a scale of like green to Yellow to Red I'm not even I don't even know if I'm in the yellow like I'm I'm good right now yeah really interesting Eric where are you at yeah I'm at like a three you know what I mean if 10 is like you know Defcon one and zero is you know we're all good then I'm at like a I'm at like a three so I'm not overreacting something to keep an eye on and to be cognizant of um but it's it's we're not it's not time to sound the alarm we know based off the Mr in the x-rays that there doesn't seem to be any significant damage um you know let him let him hang out let him get some some rehab let him get some treatment and you know we got we got plenty of time left in the uh in the preseason here so we'll see what see what happens but I'm all right with it so far can we stop drafting Gamecock players like seriously it's crazy like these guys are injured all the damn time like we got jcor and then we have Le get this is his second injury of the off season the second one we're talking about a hamstring injury and now we're talking about a foot injury that he almost broke his foot on like I mean that's a little over reactionary I get that I understand it but I'm at like a seven with this with this league get injury it's concerning as hell we saw how long it took Mingo and Bryce to get acclimated last year and there's still working on and and Mingo has progressed this offseason working out with Steve Smith but this guy didn't get any reps in mini camp with Bryce young he's finally getting reps now and now he's sidelined he might not even we he might not see any I think this guy's going to be out at least another week or two maybe I'm overreacting a little bit but I remember me and Bryson were talking about this a couple weeks ago we were concerned he got no reps in mini camp like that no no matter how much you want to blow that off those reps are important you need to know where guys are making cut where they're going to come out how they're making their Cuts everyone's different and I think us blowing that off is crazy I do I seriously do like th I mean we see all these other guys and it's m our Xavier Le get is going to be tied to all these wide receivers across League just like Bryce young was tied to all the quarterbacks last year and just how like Mingo was tied to all the wide receivers last year this was a deep wide receiver classes year Panthers traded up into the first round to get Le get and we're seeing other guys who are practicing seen in training camp right now making plays I'm not even going to start you guys know where I'm going with the guy I like and I'm going to throw it in everyone's face if it pans out and then Le get false flat on his face but like it's concerning to me I I I I there's no doubt about it because I think these reps are pivotal in his development and he's had injuries in the past at South Carolina um so maybe I'm overreacting a little bit but Bryson where are you at with he get no I side a little bit more with you I'm not as I'm not a seven I would say I'm more like a five uh you know with it being his second injury we're through like what two weeks of training camp and he's uh he's missed some some time for sure I think Legette was more of a in my opinion a project wide receiver coming out um he needs reps he he does uh yeah he struggled um in a couple areas I mean he's obviously got all the physical abilities that you want in a wide receiver he's like a perfect player for a wide receiver with the speed and the and the size and the strength but uh his route running needs work uh he the best against press man in college and I think these reps in training camp and these reps in preseason are important for him one for his developmental uh aspect of being a wide receiver and like you mentioned Curtis too his his uh connection with Bry youngan I mean I think it takes time on an NFL level to to learn how to play against an NFL level quarterback which he he did play in the SEC of course but uh still a jump in Talent we all know that um I think I I do have concern with it being his second injury and uh you know with the when you take into account the injuries that he suffered at South Carolina and uh also we have PSD from the other gamecock on the team uh Missing significant amount of time and uh him being such a high level player and missing him and uh really kind of hamstringing the defense uh not to uh play on words there but uh but yeah so I think I think right now I'm at a five uh I would like to see him out there but I think we did dodge a bullet for sure uh it wasn't a significant injury that would have been terrible to have your first and second round pick to start the season not available to you as a two and 15 team that would been awful and I think and they might not be available that's like that's a crazy thing well at this point I think it's safe to say liet's going to be available uh week one of the regular season if he's dayto day right now I would hope unless they're lying to us about his prognosis but uh but I think unless he unfortunately suffers another injury God forbid uh he should be there one and uh and I was hoping Brooks was going to be there week one as well based on the time frame of when he for his ACL but sounds like they're really slow growing him back into uh to the running back room which is okay because of the depth there but uh but I I would really love to see him as soon as possible but but yeah I think I'm out of five let's let's hope nothing else happens and let's hope he's not like the other game gamecock on the squad and uh and he's there week one can I add one more thing about Legette real quick too yeah go ahead first of all now that you guys have gone um I'm I'm slightly more concerned you uh made some great points and uh now I'm a little panicking um so there's that but I also like I think once he gets back I he does need he needs reps he needs to improve his route running the nuances of the game like all that stuff he's that's those are the things that we knew he was big and and strong and fast and can jump out of the building and you know can do the jet sweeps and all that stuff he needs to he needs work on the nuances of the game and the the rapport with with Bryce but I do also think that once he's back like let's say he comes back he's he starts week one he's back for the first regular season game I think that they're going to definitely manufacture um Touches for him like jet sweeps wide receiver screens you know deep shots 50/50 ball you know those types of things where they're not necessarily counting on him to go out there and fill the role that Mingo is looking like he's going to fill from day one so I guess I go back to the Mingo to to the Mingo thing like if Mingo wasn't looking good right now I think I'd be at like an eight with Legette but because Mingo looked good we know thelen's going to be there we know Deontay is going to be there I'm a little less worried but uh but again uh you guys made great points and now i' I've probably gone from like a three to a I don't know four and a half or five well and the thing about it too and may I I don't know if I've seen this observation I mentioned it to a Bryson a couple times and I've only been to two practices so I get it there's other people who go every day but like when I've been there liette is not always out there with Bryce young he hasn't been when I've been there he's had like a half dozen opportunities on team I'm talking team drills not oneon-one not seven on seven I'm talking team 11 on 11 and he is not always out there where Bryce young he gets maybe one or a couple opportunities here and there so like those training cap arm they're not a lot already and now you're scaling that back even more it's just I don't know it's just I think I don't want hit the banic but yet I'm I'm trying to just stay level-headed with everything but it though this time is pivotal and I remember me and Bryson mentioned it like mini camp that was pivotal too people were blowing that up ah it's mini cam it's mini cam but then we go see liette running full on 27 miles an hour Debo Samuel a couple weeks after you know he wasn't at mini camp the whole time so like yeah let's be smart about this a little bit I don't want to I'm not trying to connect it to here with his injury now I'm just saying like I remember Dave Canalis I'll never forget it and there was one point I thought his ending pressure at mini camp was everyone needs to know their limits going into this break here where these guys get to go off on vacation do their own training with their guys the rout gods and all that whatever it is it's great love the content but like liette was like a couple weeks later full on like balls to the wall and I know Canalis said like he if if it was a game day he probably would have practiced that week in many Camp but like man it's I don't know I'm I'm definitely concerned um let's talk about tight ends for a minute and I'm gonna try to be fancy here we'll see how this works I've never done this before so bear with me I'm gonna try to pull up um something that we captured at training camp and I hope this is the right one um so this is video for folks that don't know not a big Ian Thomas fan this guy at all um would like to see some of these other guys I've been hear about Ian Thomas's breakout for years it's never happen um and I want to see jvon Sanders their fourth round pick so I captured this at practice I don't even know how this thing works I don't know if it's G to play it's not gonna play that's Splendid um it looks great it looks great well you see right there um I don't know why this won't play but um so never mind disregard that but if you follow us on Twitter you've seen it you've seen the play um it looks I think it was an RPO pass bre Bryce faked it it was at the one yard line they were running a two-minute drill there was one second left on the clock Bryce fixed the hand off to chew up pulls back there's like two linemen to Bryce's face he throw it um up to Sanders he catches I think it was I if it was Nick Scott on the coverage I can't remember it was one of the safeties I think really nice catch um and I'm excited I'm excited with I mean there he had a drop in practice that we were at to um but I just think he adds a different element to this tight end group um that tremble doesn't offer and Ian Thomas doesn't offer and even Jordan Matthews doesn't offer so I'm just curious what your guys's thoughts are on the tight end room as a whole and where do you guys kind of stand on that yeah I mean for me um I I have no idea how Ian Thomas is still on the roster I I mean I feel like I've said that for a couple of years I I I legitimately don't understand it there has to be some blackmail or something somewhere he's got he's got something on Tepper that's the only that's the only rational explanation um but you know yeah I'm super excited about uh Sanders seen some really good plays uh from him and you know we drafted him for a reason he was widely considered uh what was it the the number one or number two uh tight end on the board number two tight end on the board and uh we've seen good things from him uh through Camp so Tommy Trimble uh if I remember correctly typically been a uh more of a blocking tight end not necessarily as much of a pass catcher although we we did see it a little bit um maybe towards the end of last year but Sanders I'm excited about him I think that it's something that we've been missing in our offense um you know we haven't uh we haven't had a dominant tight end we haven't had a safety blanket um for for Bryce and so I hope he continues to progress I'm excited to see uh you know what he what he turns into but uh so far so good I'm excited about him uh um I was just having a conversation with a co-worker today about Sanders and we were just talking about how most more often than not I mean most of the time when you see a successful NFL quarterback they have a reliable uh pass catching tight end and we like like you said Eric like we haven't had we haven't had that in a while um you know last year we for a minute I was excited about Hayden Hurst that didn't work out like he had he scored that touchdown in the first game and it was like here we go baby oh nope that's that's it okay I guess that's that's going to be it for the year um and he's doing well I saw him in a a highlight who's he on the Jaguars now what team did he go to does anybody know Aiden I'm not 100% sure I he went to uh he went to LA the Chargers La okay yeah I saw him score a touchdown in Camp so happy for him I know he had some health issues um last year was kind of scary but yeah just like we I mean look at you know CJ St look he had Dalton Schultz that's a great safety blink it right there um so Bryce have I hope that Sanders can come in I know he's got a develop but man yeah we got to show B I'm gonna show this play because I finally got it up I ain't I ain't letting Folks by here not we got to show it so this is the play um again two minute there was one second left check this out and then we can talk and Ben you can continue there okay makes it look at that me that is a thing of beauty it really is just snatches it and that was against Fuller Jordan Fuller um you don't see in Thomas making that play you just don't no and that wasn't uh and I think did you already say this churis that um Canalis said that like that wasn't the design of the play Bryce kind of improv improvised there I didn't say that but I did catch that in the presser it sounded like he improvised on the play which hey I mean that's it's going to come up in a game and that's I think where Bryce flourishes like yeah he's we saw that Alabama over and over again and it seems like I don't know if Bryce is becoming more comfortable and who he is and he's just going to do you know what he's comfortable with or this coaching staff is allowing him to do that more but he didn't do that as much with Frank Reich I mean that was pretty tidied up and you know what you know what Frank said went kind of thing so it's good to see that he's kind of spreading his wings a little bit with that as well 100% Edgar in the comments that's all he pointed out final four teams in the playoffs had their tight ends were KD Sam leapa Travis Kelce and Mark Andrews strong some good talent some good talent good talent right there um but yeah I I just I guess uh so I'm excited about him tremble you know he I think he's still coming back from injury so um I'm not sure if he'll play tomorrow or not um I haven't seen anything about that but um somebody that I think is a dark horse potentially to make the team is the guy that we just brought over um Jacob Hollister because he has the the background with Canalis and with Brad idzik from Seattle um I'm not saying he should make it like over Trimble or Thomas or well maybe Thomas um but I wouldn't be shocked if he made it then Jordan Matthews I think Jordan Matthews is feeling it feels like he's going to make the roster just based off of I mean I've heard Dave Canalis mentioned him like four or five different times in press conferences he seems to be very impressed with Jordan Matthews like his work ethic and you know his professionalism and all that stuff coming in and so um I'm I I wrote down this question I was like do we have like a semi deep tight end room or is or no like healthy no is I don't think I don't think it's deep I've been hear I've been hear about Tommy tremble breakout Ian Thomas for years and it's just never happened so yeah I don't know I'm not buying it I think Sanders offers a different element I don't think he's a great blocking tend I don't think that's what you're gonna get out of him but I think he adds a pass catching element that those guys don't yeah and that's why I'm excited about him um because we really haven't had a tight end since Greg olon which seems like forever ago at this I'm curious about you two guys I know where me and Bryson stand but how many tight ends do you think they carry on the roster and if you had to pick who would those guys be um I'll just say real quick mine are assuming they're healthy uh Trimble Ian Thomas um Sanders and uh Matthews I know I said Hollister might be a dark horse to make the team but I don't think I don't think Hollister is making it over over definitely not over Trimble or Sanders but um it seems like Thomas is probably going to be on the team and like I said about Matthews I I think they carry four I think I think four yeah tight ends end up making it yeah I'm right there with you Ben um you know unless they decide to get smart and and and droy and Thomas I think that those are the four that we're going to ride into battle with all right well we're g to jump to defense and before we get to that I'm going to run we got a quick commercial break it's 30 seconds it's painless expert link all right guys let's talk about the defense here um we'll go through the depth chart here and just your OB overall observations um what you've seen at practices that you've been to what do you guys think of this group as a whole and Bryson I'll start with you yeah I mean the defense has been pretty impressive I think throughout uh the time that I've been at Camp um we talked about the issues with the offensive line and our concerns with the defensive line going into uh this season and I would say the defensive Line's definitely had the best of of that group uh up to this point at least uh you know we talked about the issues that the offensive line was having um DJ Johnson has looked good I mean he's obviously put some work in and uh on this uh you know depth chart uh listed as a starter I think Canalis had mentioned him as a possibility there as well day one um cban Chon seems like every time there's pressure in the backfield reporter tweets it or whatever it's it's him or Clowney uh or or Johnson of course uh so I've been pleasantly surprised up to this point with that group uh I think losing um the guy they brought his his name slipping kamiko tur I think is was his name uh you know losing you seen him for two seconds yeah yeah I mean I don't know what I'm gon to remember most about his time in Carolina it was it was eventful um it brought a lot of good memories to us but uh but yeah I think really maybe adding another body to that room is a possibility because they brought him in for a reason um so I think they might explore that again getting closer into the start of the season but but I think you know your your favorite player on the team DJ Johnson has been impressive uh up to this point at least and um going against offensive line Splendid DJ Johnson I don't know how how it's going to turn out in games but I mean he's at least showed Improvement you can't deny that from last year which the bar was very low I get um for for him but he's he's improved for sure uh you know where I stand on Josie juel I think he's gonna be uh one of the most important pieces on the defense yeah your boy had a pick on Bryce young the other day he sure did he sure did uh I think he's going to flourish again under EO system like he did in Denver had his best year under EO I think he's going to have another great year in Carolina I'm I'm really excited about that signing Kevin Wallace over under on Josie juel he has a 100 tackles over under he had I think aund and some when he was with EVO in Denver what do you you got the over on that over yeah I got the over um for sure got the over on that uh I think he's going to be electric I think he's like I mentioned before he's the uh the louu placement um for sure and he's going to be exciting like louu was uh on that defense uh where do I go from here I mean the the corners have been somewhat good I mean on one-on ones of course that's really hard to play defense one-on-one versus receiver and cover him for the amount of time that you're required to in that in those scenarios but I think of course JC horn has has looked great you know he's a top five Corner top 10 Corner in the league when he's healthy D Jackson has been impressive as well so I think overall i' I've been I've been pleased with the defense I haven't seen a whole lot of concerns I would say up to this point but again we're still super early in training camp and the preseason is definitely going to be important in those joint practices to really see where defense is but but right now I'm I'm okay with it I think Evo's uh got a plan and I think I trust evero in his scheme and that he coaches players and I know that the players were excited forever to be back so I'm I'm excited about that guys I'm gonna pose this to you because I haven't gotten your opinion on this I'm just curious you can talk about the depth chart too but what do you think of the depth of this defense Bryson and I have talked about this I think either the last episode or the one before it but I'm just curious what your guys' thoughts are about the depth and then obviously this depth chart that just came out um and we could either one of you guys can answer that that's fine Eric you go ahead uh all right well so yeah that was going to be the one issue that I have with the defense is the lack of depth like you just look at who's in second string I'm excited about Trevon Wallace I'm excited to see you know how that goes I think bule's been doing pretty well I saw a couple of uh plays by Smith Wade um but it's scary like if we if we lose one or two pieces on the defense then we don't have a plug-and-play option in a lot of these positions um so I'm very nervous about that um but they played better than I thought they were going to uh I think that the real strength here is having um uh evero you know kind of scheme back in and I think that we have with juel and some of the other veterans um there's a lot of familiarity with that and I think that that's going to be that's going to be the strength um you've heard you know some of the players talk about how uh juel was kind of coaching them up right and giving them like insight into the insight into the defense and insight into the scheme and they were really able to kind of uh coach each other so I'm excited about the defense I'm nervous about the lack of depth um but I think the fact that we have continuity in scheme is going to be incredibly important yeah I'm kind of the same like I'm I'm concerned about the depth a little bit I I mean this is kind of always the case you know like you say if if this player gets hurt well then we're screwed um but you can definitely say that about this this team right now at this defense right now too like um I won't lie sha Thompson being out you know for a little bit there um the last few practices that concerned me based on his history um the linebacker position in general I'm concerned about the depth there um I love Josie juel I think he's like you said Bryson is he's going to be fantastic um and and if sha Thompson's playing he's you know he'll be a good running mate there with juel but then behind behind them obviously Trevon Wallace we have high hopes for what he's going to be but but Dave Canales has made it very clear in press conferences that like he's got a long way to go he's flashed and he's he's playing faster and he's developing but he's still got a long way to go outside of those three guys um like I don't know a hell of a lot about any of these other names like I know of them I know you know obviously Michael Barrett was a draft pick but like cheris Tay Davis champ woen like the none of these guys are really like proven guys in the league so I'm concerned about the linebacker depth um the cornerback position I was surprised I know Bryson Deshawn Jameson's one of your guys right you really like him I was a little surprised looking at this depth chart that he was behind Lamar Jackson um Lamar's played a lot like I remember when we were on Sunday and I was getting so confused because I saw Jackson and like he had his jersey rolled up so it's it looked like 21 or 31 I'm like did Dane change his number and I just did not know that and I kept looking I'm like what the hell and then I later found out this it's this Lamar Jackson guy that I didn't even know was on the team to be really honest with you guys and I'm like and he's he played he's been playing a decent amount he really has he has been out there a lot he's also gotten torched a lot from the clips that I've seen and and Desa Jameson on the opposite I'm sure he's gotten beat some too but like I I've been to a couple practices and I've seen a lot of the clips and and like I think he's held his own um a lot of the time so I was just a little surprised to see that um but yeah I would say like our starters feel pretty good about it um it's it's been good to see chaon kind of Flash in Camp um because I think I don't know if any of us really had like super high hopes or or expectations for him when we when we got him based on his last couple years but yeah I'm a little concerned about the the depth and just a little perplexed by a couple of the where where some of the guys are slotted but this could change this is just the first you know the first one that they released so we'll see yeah I um I'm not too surprised about the ones um across the board I think Canales has mentioned DJ Johnson enough to know that um he would be opposite of Clowney with wanam out um still not comfortable with him there to start the season if I'm being honest with you guys but I mean we'll see how it shakes out um but yeah the number the one's not surprised TJ Smith don't know the guy I ain't gonna pretend to know the guy but for him to be behind Derek Brown is saying something and we all start need to be watching TJ Smith if you haven't because the guy's clearly making a name for himself if he's in there and the twos and he's be he's above crumedy who they drafted so that is telling to me that was probably one of the bigger ones I like what I've seen from Trevon Wallace he's made some plays it sounds like consistency is the key Canalis I think has you know kind of preach that with when he's asked about Wallace a couple times so I think Wallace you know down the road could be a really good player for us and they're trying to mold him into that I just think you know with Shaq and you know Jos juwel experience with evero I think that pretty locked up I think there's going to be opportunities for him I mean sha Thompson's not getting any younger and he's coming off a couple injuries um but yeah I mean across the board I think most of it the Lamar Jackson thing I agree with you Ben on there I thought Jameson would be a little bit higher Bole no surprise we've been told many times this offseason keep an eye on Bole that's a guy you need to look at P this staff really likes him so bule you know he's made the most of his opportunities I feel like we'll see I think you know you guys talked about it with depth that is a concern with this defense um but I will say Clowney has been I don't even want I don't know if it's surprise the right word but I feel like he I didn't expect him to make as much noise as I thought he would in practice maybe I'm under selling a little bit but like he's just been everywhere and I was kind of banking off of you know he was you know with McDonald who obviously became a head coach in Seattle really good defensive guy uh a Baltimore Ravens defense that was stacked and just let Clowney eat but that guy even on his own has just been I mean destroying guys at Camp right now we'll see what happens in games because teams if is not out there teams are going to double team him and let's see what DJ Johnson has and that's what they're going to do yeah um but run the run defense I'm really excited about I think I think that that is something and we've talked Bryson and I have talked about this many times on the show these last couple weeks that is going to vastly improve this season hopefully and you know teams aren't going to be able to run it at will anymore on the Panthers which is really good um I did want to touch on special teams because um we can't forget about him and there's a there's a very important um competition going on right now and that's you know clearly we'll see I mean we'll see how much stock there is in this but it sounds like Eddie is number one at kicker right now um so that's a notable competition then you obviously have the kick returner which I think is going to play a pretty damn big role in punt return obviously as well um but Raheem at number one one and then ISM at number one as well as the punt returner um and this is honestly why I think ISM makes this team without a doubt I I I would be I he was he's the one player I will be shocked if he's cut I would be shocked same um I think this just tells the whole tale on it that they view his return game as something special and when he has the ball in his hands he proved it in Chicago last year when he get when he gets the opportunity the guy makes something happen and um but any surprises here with special teams I leave it up to you guys if Bryson we haven't heard from you in a bit what do you what do you think of the the initial depth chart no I don't think any surprises like we talked about last week I think Pinero is is the leader in the dogghouse I think m is has an uphill battle to really win that position unless there's a Fallout with a contract and you know p is headstrong on holding out into the season which wouldn't make sense because he doesn't make a lot of money he'd be getting find a lot of money I just think he's going to play and I think it's his position um to lose I think it's pretty evident when you look at uh the interactions on the field with him and Hecker and Jansen Panero is normally standing with those guys m is off by himself I just think it's P's position to lose um Black Shear doesn't surprise me I believe last year he was one of the top in the league for yards per return on kickoff uh he's electric with the ball in the Sands I've been a big black sheare fan since he's been on this roster um and yeah I mean of course Smith marett uh what we saw last year from is a threat when he catches the ball and pun there's no no denying that um at all but uh I I one one person I'm surprised not to see is a guy that Ben that I am high on is deshun jamus who is like the alltime leading kick returner in Texas history um obviously he's he's uh had some reps at training camp in in kick return and I think maybe if they were to make a uh there's a great example if they I had to share this I had to go ahead Bryce I don't want to cut you off go ahead no no you're fine uh if if they were to uh like ifm were to be a victim of a cut um that Jameson's name would pop up definitely in that kick return game but but yeah I just wanted to share this picture with everyone because you mentioned it you talked about the separation between Pano and mevis and this picture does not do it justice because Eddie and Harrison are like 15 yards apart on this so you don't see the depth but literally Eddie is by himself mevas is doing some stretches like way behind him and I took this picture on Sunday because I'm like this sums their relationship relationship up in a nutshell and then there was a one point where they were doing 11 on Le on the left side of the field and on the right side meas was trying to kick the crossbar so he was standing parallel with the field goal post and he was trying to kick it in a line and Eddie Hecker and JJ were like 50 yards down the field all yapping and it was just meas kicking this ball by himself I wish I was taking a picture of it but it's just like that is how this competition has gone and it's it kind of cracks me up um but I mean Eddie to this point he's been the most accurate and he's made some 55 I think 55 plus even he's made some of those kicks and I mean we'll see obviously I think once pre when once we get to the games like tomorrow which we'll talk about in a little bit um is I think it's going to be pivotal because you're only as good as your next kick and that's just the reality of it but what do you guys think of the the um special teams I would say um I wish that we could combine their powers like let's let's get Captain Planet yeah Captain Planet let's our powers combined um like seriously get like Eddie P's accuracy from you know 45 to 50 yards in and whatever his sweet spot is um and M's power I wish we could combine the two I will say like I'm I'll be honest I'm kind of rooting for meas I'm rooting for the thicker kicker uh I I don't in my gut I think Eddie p is probably gonna end up being our our guy um but he's just kind of rubbed me the wrong way a few times uh you know the the not showing up for um for mini camp um you know a couple months ago and just some you guys remember the Bears game last year remember the end of the Bears game where you know he the shoulder shrug you know you know I wasn't going to make that anyway I don't know why you sent me out there Frank Reich um he's just done some things that have just like dude what what are you doing so he's rubbed me the wrong way that's why I'm rooting for mevas but I feel like P Panero is going to end up being the kicker we'll see how they do in preseason and then um I think to what you guys said like no surprises elsewhere black Shear's awesome um I I hope he gets obviously he's going to be returning a lot of kicks but I would love to see him get some opportunities on offense too because I've always liked him he was he was my breakout pick before last season started and obviously that didn't happen that didn't play out but I just think every like Eric you said it uh when we talked this weekend you're like every time Black Shear touches the ball it feels like something special Could Happen he's just he's just kind of an electric player so I'm excited to see him and then ISM obviously as well but I feel that way with ISM too like get get the ball in his hands and something could like something could happen but Eric go ahead on special teams yeah I mean uh I love Black Shear uh we were hyping him up uh in our last last episode uh we have for a couple of years I think that this is a good opportunity for him to show value before Jonathan Brooks comes back and um you know make a case to somehow stay on stay on the roster there um I as a thicker man myself I appreciate the thicker kicker I'm going to uh I'm going to put a little tally mark U next to Harrison as far as who gets my vote um but yeah I you know they're they're two two seemingly good kickers Panero pretty accurate but I'm with youin like I don't know what it is like he just he seems like he he has the attitude of a wide receiver um in terms of like the primadana E type you know attitude I don't know I'm a thicker dude give me the thicker kicker let's start hitting you know bombs from 60 yards I'm I'm here for it let's talk about the guy they added this week briefly because it's it's it sticks with the defense here um that we just talked about um and that's Kaden Sterns um what are you guys's thoughts on this Edition and I just have one thing while you guys are thinking about it is they are heavily invested in is jro evero and whatever he wants on defense basically yeah like they are full in on the guys he wants they're bringing in asan Robinson the ti in La Jordan Fuller who also played with him in La Josie juwel with him in Denver um Troy Hill played with him as well I'm sure I'm skipping someone else's name here Nick Scott as well like they are all in on this ever on evero on defense which I love I think he's if you've listened to us at all I think he's going to be hell of a head coach probably next year I would think if this defense plays really well this season because they lost five starters that isn't a hard that isn't an easy job to overcome and I just love the Buy in I guess for getting guys that this dude wants to coach because it's it's great I mean it really is and I don't know if this Sterns guy is going to you know make a name for himself I don't know I don't know a whole lot about him I just know he's an evero guy but um just your guys's initial thoughts on the signing and you know Panthers are number one in the waiver wire you might as well take take a stab at some of these guys that are out there that are getting cut so I I didn't know go ahead Ben you you got it man okay I I'll be brief I was just going to say like I didn't know a tremendous amount about him when we signed him um I know like just looking at him here what is this his third third year going on his third year um fifth round fifth round pick um he I think he had some injuries I like you said Curtis I like that he's an evero guy that's a trend that's that's good to see I'm looking at the depth chart and I'm like where does he slot in because obviously we have Xavier Woods Jordan Fuller those are our two starters but then behind them Nick Scott Alex Cook um and then some guys that obviously Sam Franklin you know he's hurt he's you know he he'll be back at some point but I I'll be interested to see like if if he has a shot at making the like do you guys think he's he's more of a camp body or do you think he has a legitimate shot at making the making the roster because of that you know the past history with evero that's kind of what I'm curious about I think he's a camp body I think it's that room is stacked I do I mean between Scott Woods um the other and Fuller well I mean maybe he gets I don't know maybe he gets yeah I maybe I don't say I mean maybe he gets um Franklin spot because Franklin's out and they need a fourth and they're looking for a special teams guy um Jamie Robinson I don't know I haven't seen a ton of I mean he had the one big hit where he declet a guy okay but like what has he done I mean the guy said there was there wasn't 144 ERS better than him last year and the guy hasn't done jack [ __ ] so like like really so I mean maybe he does make that for spot I don't know I don't know a whole lot about Alex Cook though so yeah I don't either I think that you know it's been a very clear theme throughout camp that they're going to bring in people to create competition and they're going to put the best team on the field that they possibly can they have the opportunity to continue to bring in people who are familiar with evero system which is going to automatically give them um you know a leg up on you know some people that are already in Camp that may not be as familiar with it um I think Robinson I saw uh Canal's reaction to uh to the hit and he was not pleased um and so I think that you start endangering your teammates like that they want the aggression I get it but I think you start leaving a bad taste in somebody's mouth when you start you know when the train when trainers have to come over after one of your hits while we're in training camp so um I don't know I I I I think he's a I think he's a c a camp body that has the opportunity to make the roster if if he proves himself yeah and before anyone else goes here um I'm an as sham asly plug we have probably I think our most viewers ever on live so I appreciate every one of you 380 plus right now I just want to stop everyone please go subscribe to our YouTube Panthers on tap we would appreciate it also I will plug uh Ben and Eric's podcast ke purring podcast subscribe to them as well but we do appreciate all the support and comment away I wanted to mention this off the top we like to enjoy a couple drinks on this show me and Bri Bryson and I so if you have drinks beers that you think we should try liquor whis whatever any alcohol you think we should try on the show let us know in the comments and we'll try to pick out a few and um we we'll try to taste those on the episode as well but um just moving forward I kind of want to move let's move to the preseason game now um I don't want to keep you guys too much longer we're we're going on a buck 15 here and more but um I want to talk we didn't really talk much about pry young so let's get to that and I mean let's address the elephant in the room because this has been a Hot Topic and that's you know Bryce young not starting on Thursday so where are you guys at with that do you fall on the side of you're not a fan of it he should be out there they were two and 14 last year or we're making a way bigger deal out of this than it should be and Bryson I'll start with you I think throughout our conversation this evening we've talked a lot about the offensive line and the struggles and we talked a lot about how bad Jake Jack plumber is uh you know they Jake Luton again who had spent some time with us last year um I think is it worth you you weigh the risk is it worth an injury behind an offensive line who's still jiling for Bryce young to play a drive or two in a preseason game and you're starting with plumber week one at quarterback uh and then you're really looking at potentially you know if he suffers a significant injury being the worst team in the league again and I I in my opinion it's not worth the risk at all um maybe you know a game two or three he gets a couple drives I'm fine with that but minimize it um minimize that risk I'm totally fine with it I I honestly wouldn't care if he didn't play in any preseason games uh I think we saw our history with with preseason games Cam Newton um got injured in a preseason game that really uh that hurt us for a while with I believe it was Liss Frank he suffered in the preseason game a couple years ago so uh no I'm I'm not concerned I'm not mad you know we I saw all the chatter about oh if uh the Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes can play in in preseason gameplay a quarter then why can't the Panthers and uh we're just not in the same Stratosphere as a franchise or uh as a team I mean obviously um we're talking about back-to-back Champions and just just different and we're just not there so uh this team is still growing the offensive line still jelling and uh we've seen how bad they were in in training camp and pads and not in pads struggling to block uh DJ Johnson so no I'm I'm not concerned I don't think it's uh I think people are blowing it out out of the water I I don't think it's worth the risk um at some point maybe he play maybe he doesn't I don't care either way so hold on before anyone else goes you don't you would not care if Bryce young never played a snap this preseason would not care at all that's bold all right Ben let's let's go to you uh not playing Thursday where do you fall on that Spectrum I think at first when they announced it I was a little bit incredulous I was like whoa what you know the initial just kind of like why why why is this happening and I I jumped to some conclusions but then the as the week went on as the last couple days went on and I thought more about it to Bryson's Point like Andy DT's hurt if you know we know we've seen it with Cam like you go out there if we subject Bryce to those hits because because there these are guys trying trying to make the team some of these guys out there you know some of them might be first stringers but they're trying to make their money too um and gonna put a hurting or try to put a lick on Bryce if they get an opportunity and um you know if Bryce gets hurt we're rolling with plumber and Luton as our two quarterbacks right now and that's that's no good for uh you know let alone not even talking about when the season starts just for the rest of training camp they don't we don't want that we don't want Luton and plumber as our only two options but then I'll I'll look at I'll take this uh angle of approach too um and and maybe this is me being too glass half full in Silver Linings but that's my nature so I'm going to go with it um I look Bryce it's not like he's lit the world on fire in training camp but I think he's done a good job of executing the offense he's only thrown two interceptions in Camp he's been efficient um I know the the Deep shots we haven't seen as many of those as people want but my my point is like to me this signals Confidence from Dave Canales that of how Bryce is operating their offense right now I think if he wasn't confident in how Bryce was playing then he would be out there like if he didn't feel good about the way that Bryce was executing the offense and running things and I think that he would at least put Bryce out there for a series or two um so because of that because of the the potential injuries with Dalton already being hurt and the the offensive line concerns like to me I like I don't know if I would go I don't know if I'm there yet with Bryson to your to what you said of like I don't want to see I would be okay not seeing him at all in the preseason cuz cuz just from a fan perspective like I do want to see him out there but I'm leaning that direction where I'm like hey if Canales thinks that he's you know doing a good job of executing the offense but I don't I don't know I would like to see him out there at some point maybe at least in like the third game maybe we'll see but I'm not too mad about it before Eric jumps in just one observation because I think your take you you think or you're taking it as they think you know Bryce has done a good job I take it as they don't think this offensive line is worth a [ __ ] right now I agree I age with that too like I I think that's where they're at and then obviously Andy's injury is like let's pump the breaks I don't I can't go as far to say I'm not too worried about him not playing this game because I think it's more of an exhibition Hall of Fame type preseason game the first one but I do think at some point we need to see Bri young in preseason whether it's one to two series or a quarter or two or whatever however you want to equate it I do think with this a new system new Talent around him new offensive line new center Corbett needs to get snaps with Bryce young before the season starts they can't be going out week one and that's their first snaps and I don't think that's the plan I do think Bryce young is gonna play in a preseason game that's why I'm not too overly concerned about it at this point but I can't go as far to say what Bryson said is I don't want I I wouldn't care if they didn't play a snap I think that is a little too overboard I think they need to get some reps in preseason because it's different than a practice you ain't going up against the same guys I think the joint practices add some value I know Edgar mentioned that as well throw his comment up here um but I do think at some point Bryce young needs to get some snaps Mo I I would think majority of QBs get at least a couple Series in preseason even if you're maybe not Aaron roders maybe he doesn't get a snap at all with his injury or Kirt cousins I don't know but like I feel like most quarterbacks are going to get a couple series and preseason I think I think that's not too much to ask I just think I think Canalis realizes this o line of where they're at which is crazy because they invested so much this off season um but sorry I'm just rambling at this point ER take it away no I'm I'm on board with you I mean I think that this is the perfect um exercise and risk management and I guarantee you there's a tremendous amount of analytics that have been put into this obviously there's kind of like the coach feel and what they think is ready but I can almost guarantee that they have looked at this from every possible angle in terms of the risk to injury of Bryce what would happen if he was injured how well is the team set up to um you know bounce back from that and I think probably Dalton being out has a pretty you know it's C it's certainly contributing to the fact um that we're trying to be conservative with uh with the quarterback position so I think it's more along the lines of o line not ready um and then it is you know all of the safety stuff but I think it's like one of those you like put everything in a pot you Stir It Up together and you say hey it's just not smart for him to uh to play in this game um but I agree that he needs he needs some kind of work um and I think those of us as fans would feel a hell of a lot better if we if we saw the offense uh working well in the uh in some of these pre-season games since we did not last year and then we saw kind of what that H you know what happened there so um you know I I think it makes sense but I do want to see him for sure so I want to show this go ahead yeah those joint practices with the Jets I think it's it's really uh I it's been spoken about a lot amongst a lot of NFL teams around the league that NFL teams really value joint practices more than they do the preseason games um you're getting the the same reps Bryce young isn't getting hit um obviously you're going to know if it's a sack or not per se if you know the defensive Line's in the back field in a second obviously but uh but you know the wide receivers are are going full speed versus the other team's Corners the offensive lines blocking the line he's going to get those reps with the center he's going to get those reps the wide receivers are going to get on the same page with the wide receivers I think that's where I want to see Bryce young and he's gonna be obviously getting those rep there uh I just the risk for me in the preseason this team is riding on Bryce and and if he's not there then um you know we're looking at a a zero win season uh and I don't think that's too far out of the real possibility if it's plumber you know starting a quarterback for this team or Dalton at some Point whatever it may be so I think that joint practice is really important I think that's probably played a large role in um this decision as well and Edgar put in the comments that um just referencing Canalis last year Baker played preseason games one and three we also got to take in account there was a QB competition there with tras I would think either Bryce I would think Bryce plays next week and then they rest him for the third preseason game and they give these younger guys a shot and see who makes the roster I could be totally wrong maybe they play Bryce the last week kind of rolling into the season so you know there's continuity there and there's not a breakup at all but I do think and we'll see I I know Frank last year no Frank did play Bryce in that Jets game because I think Ben you were putting some highlights out today that Bryce is getting blown up by some of those I remember that he was getting destroy was the first it was the first freaking snap man like his first drop back I think like icky yeah was don't know if it was like a Mis just like a Mis assignment or what it was it looked just like a complete miscommunication very first dropback of Bryce Young's pre-season of his NFL career he just gets lit up and you remember Frank Wright talking about it in the press conference he was like you I guess that was kind of his welcome to the NFL moment and I just like we can't have that [ __ ] happening again this year especially when it doesn't matter and especially with the offensive line um like the backups and how they've looked up to this point that's that's scary I want to play this play and we'll continue on the Bryce young conversation because this has come up a lot lately is the Deep shots the Deep shots one is Bryce GNA take them um so I want to play this clip this was from Sunday um Bryce takes a shot here to Mingo you'll see it on kind of next to the pole there I apologize we're kind of far out but this was the play I think it was Nick Scott on the coverage I I'll keep playing it here as we talk but I'm just curious your guys's take with the Deep shots and why we haven't seen many obviously that might be the offensive line as well um but just where do you fall on that you know why haven't we seen the Deep passes yet and Eric will start with you yeah I mean I don't know if it's a it's an installation thing or I what but I think a large large portion of it has to do with the time right Paul coming out 2.7 seconds 2.7 seconds 2.7 seconds we've been hearing it um and so if if nobody's open or doesn't look like they're going to be open in 2.7 seconds the ball's got to go somewhere else and I think that um Canalis has been incredibly consistent with that but uh I mean it's a little concerning I I'm not that worried about it this is a totally different totally new offense than we were running last year um you know we have some additional um threats on offense especially in the wide wide receiver room so I'm not freaking out about it like they're just throwing the ball to who's open um but if the offensive line could give him a little bit more time I can almost guarantee you we'd have uh more shots downfield Ben where are you at I know you T I saw you going back and forth with Josh Norris this week so where are you at with this actually yeah Josh Josh Norris he commented on a couple things and he made the point of like the Deep crossers uh are going to be far more important to Bryce and to this offense than like just the the sideline vertical deep shots where you where he just got got like this like this play with Mingo where he's just you know mo mostly just running a streak down the sideline and we're taking a vertical shot like so that that was kind of an interesting comment I mean I I I trust Josh Norris's judgment and a lot on a lot of things and thought that was interesting I will Echo what Eric said the 2.7 or less how many times have we heard Dave Canalis talk about 27 or less about the timing and execution of this offense and Bryce is dropping back he's going through his reads very quickly which you know he has theil the ability to do and then he's Bryce has made he's done a lot of playmaking um like we kind of mentioned earlier he's getting out of the pocket making things happen off schedule um I also think the offensive line has played a factor like if you know if there's a guy in Bryce's lap in two seconds then he's going to have to roll out of the pocket and make something happen and then also you got to give some credit to the defense the first team defense too and Canalis mentioned that in his presid conference he was like this sche Evo's scheme is really good like they are trying to take away the uh the the chunk plays and they're not making it easy on this on this offense at all um so I just think it's multifaceted the reason that we haven't seen a ton of those deep shots and um I personally am not concerned about it really at all um I think that once we get into the season I think the way this offense is going to look is it's going to be we're going to run the hell out of the ball we're gonna we're going to get the ball out quickly get it into the hands of The Playmakers in general 27 or less and then we're gonna have calculated deep shots off of that a few times a game remember what Dave Canales said before the season um or not before the season uh a few weeks back I think he said this a couple times he was like we just need Bryce to play his one of one be one of 11 be special three to five times a game and so I I don't think we're just going to be chucking it deep you know super often I think it's going to be calculated and we'll see it but I I'm not shocked based on all those factors I'm not shocked that we haven't seen it more up to this point right I agree yeah same sentiment not not a whole lot of concern at this point um I know you know I said earlier that we saw last off season into the uh into the preseason into the regular season you know we all the vanilla offense you know you'll see it when when it matters and we weren't concerned and um and I wasn't like that again but in in this situation like Ben and Eric mentioned there is it's it's multifaceted we every conversation we've had tonight has tied back into the offensive line some somehow some way struggling um and you know I it'll come it it will it it's within the structure of the system play action is going to be really important that's when they're going to get their deep shots in and um I think being out a lot is has kind of taken away some of that too uh he's probably going to be one of the main receivers running those those deep shot plays quote unquote um so I I don't think right now any concern um you know maybe we get to week one or two and we're seeing this offense and there's just no threat of a deep ball which is going to make it hard to run the ball and uh that obviously would be a concern at that point but I I think it eventually it it will come and we will see it yeah I think it needs to happen though there's no doubt about it because you're going to see teams do what they did last year oh yeah and they're gonna play tight to the line they're gonna not allow the underneath [ __ ] and they're going to double Deonte and force Adam thielen to try to beat their guy and they're G to force Mingo to try to beat his guy and that's how they're gonna play if there's no deep threat and I do I I have a I give I have a lot of faith in Deontay Johns I think he's a hell of a separator so that gives me um some hope but they do have to take their shots whether they don't have the o line or not you got to create it you got to create it with tight end blocking play action whatever you do running back in there to block they got to find ways to create it because you can't do because that's what teams are going to do they're going to play Bryce manto Man play him tight press the [ __ ] out of everyone play guys up safety off the top that's how they're going to play them early on and see what they can do and then when when that doesn't start working that's when they're going to adjust so I do think they got to take their shots um and hopefully we see that more I do agree though like those deep crossers stuff those are important you're not always going to see streaks Deontay Johnson proves um you saw the Crosser the other day I think it was Tuesday maybe at practice or Monday he had a really nice play on a deep Crosser the guy's always open I mean he's it just seems like he always finds a way I just hope he can keep his attitude in check don't we don't see what he did in Pittsburgh and and uh you know complaining and everything else and just and he hasn't done that at all this Camp I'm just saying I hope that's how that stays once the lights come on on Sunday and um but I do think they need to take those shots but Ben's right I mean if you don't believe this I mean you know we're we're a part of a betting group now I mean I I know I play SPS on uh they're going to run the [ __ ] out of the ball there's no doubt about it they are going to run run run and when you don't want them to run they're going to run again like that's going to happen people are going to [ __ ] about it yeah they're going to complain because they're running all the time but that's what they're going to do they invested heavily in that line that's iy's um you know that's one strength of his game as his run blocking if he's got anything and they're just gonna Pound The Rock and then you know play off of that and I'm just reiterating what Ben said but that I keep telling everyone that they are going to run run run and run run and run some more and hopefully Jonathan Brooks comes back and he can be a part of that too um I'll say Curtis too sorry I was just going to say I agree with what you said um like we absolutely we got to see it the Deep shots um when the season starts because just it was everything was so just difficult for our offense last year because there was no threat of the deep ball and so the every the secondary was just sit on routes and and it didn't help that um our go-to play was like okay Thelen Mingo CH you guys line up I want you to run straight and then turn around like hitch routes that was like our go-to play like if you if you watch like the QB School guy break down the Panthers offense it was just pitiful and so we gotta have that threat of the deep ball to open things up and like you said too Curtis um whatever it takes man if we need to bring in you know if we need to scheme up our deep Shots by like bringing in an extra offensive lineman or you know having a couple tight ends to help with the with the blocking the Texans did that the Texans did that a lot last year in their in Bobby sl's offense where they would they would create these calculated deep shots where they had stal would just have this like you know the wall of Great Wall of China in front of him and he'd have all the time in the world and then you got Nico Collins or tank Dell creating a mismatch like streaking down the field and I know we don't have a you know a tank a tank Dell or necessarily ano Collins um we'll see but I just think like it's it's it is I don't want to down I don't want to downplay with my comments earlier like it's absolutely important we got to have the threat of the of the deep ball so I do hope to see it more for sure moving forward let's talk about preseason then we'll get you guys out of here we've we're we're closing in on a buck 45 almost two hours here but preseason expectations who are you guys watching I think Mike K POS that question on Twitter today I thought that was a good one couple players that you guys are looking or watching specifically tomorrow and just your expectations for this team going up against New England Thursday night I think kickoffs I think at 7 o'clock I think it's 700 PM our time um and we'll start with Eric on this one what what are you looking forward to in this preseason game we don't know I guess who's all playing it's kind of a while I feel like at this point we usually know but we don't yeah I'm um you know going back to kind of one of the first conversations we had tonight I'm really interested to see how TMJ does um kind of back in full speed um you know against other uh competition it's going to be an opportunity for him to prove himself that uh it's there's a new TMJ um with the new offense um and so I think that's going to be important um I'm excited to see how Sanders plays at the tight end spot and um you know see if see if he's got as good a hands as everybody says and uh see if he can get open again be that safety blanket for the uh for the offense and then I am looking for kind of uh ISM Black Shear see who see how the return games go um and then see see if black year can kind of make a spot for himself uh more permanently on the roster with with some some magic when he touches the ball uh then you know how is our how was our secondary hold up against uh you know some other good players as well since there seems to be some some question there Bryson what about you yeah I'm excited to see Tomkins like I talked about earlier on this episode I think his speed's going to flash it's going to be evident on the field I'm excited to see him I'm excited to see my sanders because my sanders has looked pretty good in Camp um he's had a lot to say to to Media couple runs for sure uh I'm excited to see if he puts his money where his mouth is and does it on a field against other Talent trying to to stop him from running instead of just touching him uh so I'm excited to see him on defense Trevon Wallace I think is is a popular name amongst fans I see him in pron I imagine he's going to get quite a bit of time uh I do want to see the starting offensive lineman out there matter who BR thank God but uh it doesn't matter if it's plumber or Luton or whoever I need to see those five hopefully Damen Lewis is able to go I don't know if he's GNA be able to or not but um I want to see those five and how they do against uh the Patriots defensive line which isn't a scary one but uh it'd be interesting to see you know where they're at because they haven't looked great in training camp you talking at all episod so that'll be interesting Ben yeah um I'm I I'm more excited about just with the offense um watching the TMJ versus Jaylen Coker because I really like I said earlier I really think one of the two of them is going to end up being on this roster um so I'm excited to see who kind of breaks out I'm excited to see Tomkins um see his speed out there and how he looks but I think the main thing that I'm interested in seeing and I know Bryce isn't playing so I get that but the main thing I want to look at is Dave Canal's offensive scheme um I know we're not going to see all the wrinkles it's preseason so he's not going to let all the tricks out of the bag but man last season last pre-season you know after those first couple preseason games we're all we're all like what is what is this why does this look so so Elementary um and you know we kind of played a lot or at least I did I was like okay it's just a preseason you know it's it's fine we'll we'll we'll open it up and um then Frank vanilla Rie vanilla rookie vanilla vanilla baby um yeah so like I learn last year taught me a very valuable lesson of like trust your gut trust your eyes because um my gut and my eyes were telling me this looks bad I don't like this um this looks terrible I'm not I don't have any confidence in what we're doing right now but then um I let my uh I let my emotions I guess take over and say well make excuses about it now it's preseason it's it's fine we're going to open it up game one we're going to look different so I'm I'm just very interested to see what does Dave Canal's scheme actually look like in a in a real game albe it with Jack plumber um at quarterback um yeah and just kind of see what the what the operation is and execution of that so we'll see yeah we got literally vanilla ice cream with Frank Reich last year and that was the reality I want to see some caramel Collision Pirates Booty moose tracks type [ __ ] like let's spice it up I know we're not gonna you're right Ben we're not going to see much of it we aren't I mean you're not gonna Canalis ain't going to show his hand but there should be I mean we should have the surprise of week one Bryce Young comes out in uh a pistol formation like Frank gri did last year when they never ran it at all just wild [ __ ] like that so I'm Cur I'm obviously we won't see Bryce this game but like Bryce young more under Center I'm excited to see that implemented a little bit more and we we've been seeing that a little bit in training camp um but the guys I mentioned I when Mike K posed this question today was I want to see some of the young guys jvon Sanders how does he play at the tight end spot yeah he made a flash play in a a practice can he do that in a game how does he do with blocking I know that's probably something he needs to improve on I do want to see Jaylen Coker what does he do when it you know when they're actually going up against another team uh Shai Smith Wade like what does he do I haven't heard much about him as the you know the fifth round rookie um Travon Trayvon Wallace as well and then I want to see Harrison mevas I want to see how that kicker competition plays out and then to Eric's Point too I want to see special teams like how this is a whole new special teams game even for the Vets like how does how do these special teams coaches adapt to these new rules because it's different I mean it's it's if you didn't see the Hall of Fame game and he didn't watch the XFL like it's going to hit you in the face when you see it on a on a preseason game so it's a whole different animal I think it adds a whole new element to this game and that's why I think some of these special teams guys are going to be way more important and there's going to be a lot more value on those players than you think um and then on the flip side I'm curious to see what Drake May's got Bryson's been buttering this guy up in New England and uh coming from UNC what does he have as a you know a rookie curious to see how he plays too and just to see you know some of those those top QBs in the league and how they perform um this season but I mean football's back I'm excited I know Bryce young ain't playing I'll be watching it like it's a regular season game um I unfortunately work so it'll be I'll be on my phone watching it but I'm excited you guys got a prediction in this one let's throw one out what do you got who wins I know it's pre season no one gives a [ __ ] but who do you think uh who wins this game Bryson we'll start with you Carolina's not winning if plumber's playing most of the game I'll tell you that right now uh plumber yeah I mean we talked about it he's he's not good at all um so I I think uh if if if May plays a couple series then they'll put some points up and um I think New England wins probably like 211 something like that Ben yeah I same I think that with Drake May and who's the other quarterback there Milton is it Joe Milton yeah Milton um uh you know I think they're GNA play pretty well against our like second and third stringers we'll see but here's my prediction I think I don't think that we're going to win personally with like Bryson said with plumber but I do think that plumber will complete a deep ball at some point in the game that's like a 40 50 yard bomb down the field and Panther's Twitter is going to explode uh having conversations of why can't Bryce do this you know in Camp he noodle arm he can't do this we got to start plumber moving forward so I I do think that that's that conversation's probably gonna happen um if if plumber can connect on a deep ball um but we'll see yeah before Eric jumps in Ricky I I totally forgot about this guy because I just don't think very highly of him and that's Jaylen pul um it's yeah I'm going to curious to see what Rick's been uh yapping about this offseason with poke I know Adon Mitchell's been lighting it up in Indie so um I'm curious to see how these career and Ricky we still need to make a bet on that I'm talking to you through a comment here we need to make a bet on that because I do think Mitchell wins that with ease this year um just from what I'm seeing in training camp but Eric what do you got for for this game uh I'm I'm going to go with 28 to 17 we lose but I'm excited because I think that we're going to lean heavily on the run and uh we're going to get to see what some of that looks like and if we have the full offensive line playing with Lewis and and iy on the left side I just want to see them pancake some people and run straight through them so I believe that we're going to do it I think that uh is it which kicker is uh is playing tomorrow night do we know yet because I think they're going to swap I don't know I don't know I'm I'm going I'm going thicker kicker I'm going thicker kicker uh hitting a 53 yard field goal and um you know that that's what we're gonna do but I believe in it we're gonna run the ball we're gonna score some points it's gonna be a brand new season and while we might lose we're going to feel better on Friday morning than we did after the first game last preseason okay let's go off script here a little bit not talking about Panthers I just want to get your guys as quick observ then I'll let you go because I know it's late the Brandon iuk situation where do you guys fall on there with we all know Pretty Ricky and we have the Insiders and where do you think he ultimately ends up and why isn't Carolina in on the Brandon IU uh conversation whatsoever and I will start with Bryson on this and then we'll get the hell out of here uh no clue why they're not in on it uh I think I would immediately come in obviously be the best bu receiver on the team add an aspect that we're not uh that we don't have right now in regards to an elite top tier receiver Deontay Johnson's good but um he's not BR auk I don't know why not in on it but uh I think um I think it's cool to see someone not uh you know in that NFL realm uh who's been pretty accurate for the most part in regards calling some trades before they were announced by the bigger guys uh in Pretty Ricky it's cool to see that and then him calls such a Ruckus amongst those individuals uh on the higher end of the NFL realm so um I think he's gonna be a Steeler I I I I believe Ricky uh I think he's he's called it since early on when those reporters were saying the still out of it now the steel back in it and now that they're in contact and the Patriots are out of it I don't know I I think he's he's kind of had the upper hand on that I I follow on on team Ricky over U over the others yeah and Ricky We Trust if I'm gonna if Ricky Reign says I'm the villain I'm gonna follow the villain he's played the villain with the Insiders the I love every minute of it I I think they're panicking I really do like them P pisero the other day I think it was yesterday like pretty much pointing him out without saying his name in his uh the Insiders report that was like four or five minutes long but yeah I just I think it's great I think it just adds another element and it's cool to see you know someone that's not in that little pocket um between shefer and Rapaport and um some of those other guys I think I think it's good um but yeah I think he's going to be a stealer um I think it would be nice to have Carolina in the conversation and when we do see the compensation I don't think it's going to be a first round pick and I think people are going to go and lose their minds on Panthers Twitter um and yeah maybe Dan Morgan should be calling up uh you know San Fran and and uh dabbling a little bit and trying to make the best out of his Scot fitter impression with they not every deal but I don't I don't think they do I I don't think they're touching that at all but yeah I mean people are going to surprise when he's a sec get they get a second or third round pick for him but Ben you at with it yeah I'm I'm with you guys I think it feels like he's going to be a Steeler I work with a Steelers fan and and they're all over it and they are highly confident he's going to be a stealer at this point which that's a iuk can picking is a scary combo um that's that's that's Elite uh and then as far as the Panthers man I like I wish they would I wish they would throw their their name in the Hat um I just just feel like I know I know it's it's uh you know Bryce young has a lot to prove uh but I think that the Panthers are fully invested in him and right now you know if there's ever a time to to pay uh wide receiver you know a big contract it's when your quarterback is on their rookie deal and they're cheap um because once we're see we've seen it like look at the look at the Bengals you know they're not going to be able to keep um Jamar Chase and and T Higgins T Higgins probably going to be gone after this year so I just look at it like I I know we already have Deonte and but but auk is a different level and you you stack Talent you know whenever you can so I wish that they were in on it um they're not doesn't seem like they are so I think he's a stealer yeah just quick before Eric jumps in I'm just taking this from the Charlotte Observer so um and I don't know if this is accurate or not but they're saying the Panthers are supposed to have a pretty good chunk of uh cap space in this upcoming year that like these next couple years are supposed to be when they can load up so you you keep this year a little bit lower and do your incentives I'm not a cap genius I'll never you know try to tell you guys I am but I think if you could load it up where it's down the road is heavier I do think there's a way you could get auk on this team and you can never have enough wide receivers so I I mean I think anyone would be crazy to say not try to take a stab at that but I don't know where you're at Eric yeah I mean you know admittedly uh I haven't followed this as closely as you guys seem to to have I've been uh Team USA on Olympics uh more recently but you know like what is the uh what is the likelihood when I first started kind of hearing all of this there was talks of auk staying in San Francisco is that even a possibility anymore or is it a foregone conclusion he's going to be traded and it's just a sweep Stakes as to who's able to come up with the right compensation I think it's the lad I think it's pretty slim that he stays at this point yeah yeah well I'll be contrary then and I'm gonna say I'm gonna say that he stays in the in uh in San Francisco just because uh you guys all went with him uh getting getting traded so we'll see I don't know I'm talking out of my ass but uh you know at least you're honest I don't know well no I appreciate you guys I think we've taken up enough enough of your time we're almost sitting two hours here I think both of you for coming on it's good to finally get both of you on I know we've had been on before haven't had Eric go give them both the follow I believe it's keep puring Eric keep purring Ben obviously go check their podcast out get it wherever you get your podcast they're also on YouTube too so I just want to thank you guys again thank you to everyone who tuned in over 430 some people listening right now we do appreciate you guys um and we'll be back next week we'll recap this game I don't know maybe we'll dabble with some live here after the game I don't know how Bryson's feeling we'll talk about it but yeah we do appreciate you guys and um look forward to the first game tomorrow and we'll see you know this is the start of the Canalis era and the first preseason game and hopefully we don't get a vanilla offense but until then keep pounding everyone
