There's a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow headed right this way world has never had a good definition of the word liberty and the American people just now are much in one of one we all declare for Liberty [Music] Disneyland Disney family right above the castle fantasy land was created by the same artist who created Disney's animated films at the studio and soon those story book Tales came to life in our Orange Grove and for the first time we could step into those worlds and become a part of the adventure every attraction tells a story the beginning middle and an [Music] [Music] end sometimes a story has a surprising Adventure Land in New Orleans Square surprises happen all the time I think about the heroes a frontier you see Walt believed it was important to pay tribute to the Pioneers who blazed the trail across Frontier America and I agree especially when it involves saloon girls and bling sit in Frontier land you could be popular Disney heroes of the day like Davey croca and Zoro for a while there was an authentic American Indian village and in the little mining town called rainbow Ridge you could board a mine train or pack mule to explore Nature's Wonderland and then the West got a whole lot Wilder Big Thunder Mountain Railroad with a thrilling addition of Disneyland's growing mountain range the first Peak was the matter hor one of Disneyland's first e TR but the most out of this world mountain of them all is right here in tomorrow when Disneyland first opened tomorrow land gave us a preview of The Amazing futuristic world of [Music] 1986 okay so the 1980s didn't turn out that way but tomorrow land is really about Imagining the possibilities of the future so we got to go to the Moon before real astronauts did hello welcome to the Moon as you can see it isn't easy to work in these spits but this face plate is all there is between me and an absolute vacuum we got to travel through the mighty microscope on atom mob beyond the realm of normal magnification we even travel through liquid Bas on submarines and no you're not hallucinating there were real live mermaids in the submarine Lagoon for a while but the only problem was real live young men kept trying to swim [Music] out tomorrowand has always been a showcase for new ideas and new inventions including one of wal's most famous AIO Electronics right audio electronics and this technology wasn't just for the birds Walt's idea got better and as always bigger with my new wash day marel it takes over 5 hours not only could these robotic performers talk and act they could Jam for that time very few people outside Illinois knew very much about this man from the Prairie I was born February 12th 189 in Harden County Kentucky my father removed from Kentucky to what is now Spencer County Indiana in my eth year it was a wild region with many bears and other wild animals still in the woods there I grew up I was large for my age and had an axe put into my hands at once and from that to my 23rd year was almost constantly handling that most useful instrument I think that the aggregate of all my schooling did not amount to one year at 21 I came to Illinois thought of trying to study law rather thought I could not succeed at that without better education I borrowed some law books took them home and went at it in good Earnest in 1854 the law profession had almost sup politics in my mind when the repeal of Missouri Compromise aroused me as I had never been before what I have done since then is pretty well known if any personal description of me is thought to desirable it may be said I am in height 6' 4 in nearly lean in flesh Weighing on an average of 180 lb dark complexion with coarse black hair and gray eyes and no other marks or Brands recollected yours very truly a Lincoln Abraham Lincoln became president face with a terrible threat of civil war a thing he dreaded yet a Calamity he was prepared to meet if he must without Union the Constitution is only a piece of [Music] paper I know there is a God and that he hates Injustice and slavery I see the storm coming I know his hand is in it if he has a place work for me and I think he has I believe I'm ready and with God's help I shall not [Music] fail April 12th 1861 Fort suer the Cannons spoke for war Cil Cil War violent devastating now had come the Reckoning the Supreme test that would decide whether a Republic founded on Liberty could survive the terrible Strife of men's Passions [Music] two brothers on their way two brothers on their two brothers on their one blue and [Music] one one more blue and one more gr as they marched along their way the five began to play all on a beautiful [Music] morning one was gentle one was kind one was gentle one was kind one came nation conceived in liberty and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal now we are engaged in a great civil war testing whether that Nation or any Nation so conceived and so dedicated can long endure 10 brief sentences so simple so direct Abraham Lincoln had not expected his words to live beyond their temporary moment but time and history would dictate otherwise and so today his Gettysburg Address is Immortal a rich and treasured part of our country's [Music] [Applause] [Music] Heritage the skills of the sculptor and the talents of the artist will let us relive same word we do not all mean the same thing what constitutes the bull workk of our Liberty and Independence it is not our frowning battlements our bristling sea coasts these are not our Reliance against tyranny our Reliance is in the love of Liberty which God has planted in our bosoms our defense is in the preservation of the spirit which prizes Liberty as the heritage of all men in all lands everywhere destroy this spirit and you have planted the seeds of despotism around your own doors at what point shall we expect the approach of danger by what means shall we fortify against it shall we expect some transatlantic military Giant to step the ocean and crush us with a blow never all the armies of Europe Asia and Africa combined could not by force take a drink from the Ohio or make a track on the Blue Ridge in a trial of a thousand [Music] years at what point then is the approach of danger to be expected I answer if it ever reach us it must spring from amongst us it cannot come from abroad if destruction be our lot we ourselves must be its author and finisher as a nation of free man we must live through all times or die by Suicide neither let us be slandered from our duty by false accusations against us nor frightened from it by the menaces of Destruction to the government nor of dungeons to ourselves let us have faith that right makes might and in that Faith let us to
