it's truly amazing that a tropical system that formed back on June 28th off the coast of Africa will impact us as we head into Wednesday this storm moved through the windward Islands across the Caribbean over Jamaica past the Yucatan and then moved on Shore to the south of Houston Monday morning this system then with all of its tropical moisture will make its way up toward the Northeast as we head into Wednesday as of Tuesday morning there's a lot of rain moving through St Louis and Paduka and all this moisture is heading toward Western New York so we do have the threat for some severe weather on Wednesday especially south of Buffalo the area shaded in yellow well it's a slight risk for severe storms and we don't see it too often but we do have an elevated risk for tornadic activity on Wednesday now the area from Green from Warsaw to the west of Jamestown about a 2% chance the area shaded in that brownish color from Jamestown to Bradford Salamanca over toward Wellsville you folks have a 5% chance for tornadoes tomorrow Franklinville Jamestown elany Bradford Wellsville Belfast certainly be weather ready on Wednesday as the chance for tornado is elevated south of Buffalo now if the Weather Service were to issue a tornado watch across the area that means conditions are favorable for development that could produce tornadoes we if a warning is issued that means Doppler radar has indicated rotation within a storm or a tornado is spotted on the ground so if a warning where issued we would come on and tell you right away and if there is a tornado warning that has been issued for your neighborhood you want to seek shelter in the basement if you can if you don't have a basement take shelter in the bathroom or a closet be in an interior room away from Windows and you want to use blankets pillows a mattress or a sturdy desk to Shield yourself from flying debris so we're talking perhaps tornadoes tomorrow some storms that could produce some very Gusty winds and also the threat for heavy rain on Wednesday could see inch or two of rainfall across the area the highest rain amounts will be Buffalo to bavia northward and we'll be tracking this for you and we'll keep you updated on wkbw.com and of course right here on channel 7
