prime minister K starma warm friendly welcome from Emanuel maon the French president at the uh Lis Paris uh palace in Paris not expecting them to say an awful lot right now this is more of a photo call than anything else before they get underway Let's cross to Shor Robbins our Europe correspondent who is there and Shor what are we expecting them to be talking about today well this is really a continuation of the brexit reset trip that we've seen s armur on over the last few days so yesterday we saw him in Germany meeting the German Chancellor Olaf Schult them talking about this future treaty talking about security defense clean energy closer economic ties and then today he's continuing those kinds of conversations but on a slightly lighter level here in France so he's meeting em Manuel macron the president uh we expect them to be talking about defense security of course uh illegal migration a massive headache for both leaders uh the small boats Crossings which continue in force uh this year more than 19,000 people have crossed the channel so that's one of the topics they're going to be speaking about but this is a slightly different vibe to what we saw in Germany because it is more lowkey we're not getting uh the traveling press pack for example we're not expecting a huge press conference and part of that reason might be the fact that Emanuel maon has his own domestic headaches uh to focus on at the moment because he still has hasn't named a prime minister but this is really uh saki starm sort of doing this brexit research underlining that he wants to start with more improved uh relationships with two of these key European leaders yes interesting point there Shor as to who is in the ascendancy and who is experiencing struggles at home with President macron even though politically they're probably fairly closely aligned
