The media and coaches don't always agree but they do when it comes to the Iowa football team. The first A PT 25 released this morning with the Hawkeyes checking in at number 25. The first coaches poll last week at Iowa at 25 as well. The quarterback room gets most of the attention in Iowa City and rightfully so, but whoever takes snaps will have plenty of running backs to hand the ball off to Las Sean Williams, Caleb Johnson and Jazz Patterson all produced for Iowa in the past, added a few new faces and it's one of the deepest backfields that Iowa's had in years, the more they see each play, each rep each front, um, they're getting better, you know, which is, uh, it's fun. It's great to have a lot of backs back there. You know, they're gonna, they're gonna get hit, we're gonna run the ball, that's the staple of the offense. Uh, and so you need to keep them healthy. You gotta have a stable to get through a season. You know, we got a lot of talent on this off, you know, especially in the backfield. I mean, we got, I mean, there are probably like five dudes that I can hand the ball off to right now that, you know, we would be confident, you know, and, you know, that's just awesome that, you know, at this point in the season, you know, you know, we have that much depth really. I feel like it's not really on us, it's on Coach Betson office coordinator where he, whether he wants whoever he wants to get the ball to and whoever dominate the most of that game. So it's really not enough. We're just going out there competing and doing our best. We love feeding out of each other like we, you know, we work together as a team and we don't, we don't, we look at this competition, but we live as his team work too. So that's another big part of it too. So, Iowa kicks off their season. August 31st when they welcome Illinois State to Kinnock Stadium.
