we're jumping around here in Madison Wisconsin a  new era starting Camp Randle stadium Buffalo bows   in town taking on the new look Wisconsin Badgers  we just saw the opening kickoff goes through the   end zone Touchback it's going to be Wisconsin ball  with dein Gardner onir Collins de let's take a   look at these skill position players for Wisconsin  absolutely Phil Longo comes in with the new Air   Raid Offense but brilin Allen highlighted right  there in the lineup that's the guy you got to   keep your eye on he's got to get his touches he is  the best football player on this roster and Tanner   morai 23 years of age he going to be 24 November  he will be calling the shots of course he started   in Oklahoma was a backup there to three different  significant quarterbacks last two years busting   all kind of records at SMU but now in the Big  10 for the first time first play from scrimmage   in this new Air Raid Offense vintage Wisconsin on  the ground brillan Edwards rumbles forward that's   a pick up of nine yeah Wisconsin Badger fans  everywhere a little nervous oh we want to see the   handed off so that's a perfect way to start by  offensive coordinator field Longo now this is   different look how quickly they get back to the  line no hdle we don't expect to see a huddle all   day long for the guys wearing red another carry  for bril and Allen he picks up six on first down   it's good work to the Wisconsin Advantage because  I'm just telling you Defenders are not going to   be excited to see bril and Allen get the ball  over and over again so quickly they would much   rather see him H power Air Raid Offense this time  they fake it to Allen first pitch and catch that's   Bryson Green and the pass is too low incomplete  Bryson Green one of a whole host of transfers new   to the program at Wisconsin all right the Buffalo  defense coming out of the mid- ameran conference   yeah these guys are special and look at that  guy shond do like led the country in tackles   a year ago and Marcus fuka both these guys had an  opportunity to leave and go get some nil no they   stayed Marcus fuka led the country in interception  seven picks a year ago morai wants to throw   nobody home and Mory just skips out of bounds  pressure pushed out by Caleb offord and it's   going to bring up third down first third down of  the season for Wisconsin yeah an opportunity for   the veteran quarterback Tanner morai to use his  arm to make plays they know what they're going to   have in in brilin Allen but they want to see what  they have in this talented quarter morai when we   talked to the coaching staff they said he's our  guy there is no competition he's earned the right   to be the starter and he's got to earn it every  day though and he gets his first opportunity   here on Third and eight third down and eight  you see the four receivers in the game looks   like Buffalo's going to play man-to-man defense  and they're going to drop guys out here it goes   wrapped up and goes down Shawn dolak got  him first and then he is finished off by   Max Michelle it's a very nice job they're going  to drop one guy out and then everybody else is   coming very nice job by do he gets cut and  then he gets back up to try to slow him down   and make the play and it comes in finished by  number six Max Michelle Max Michelle's actually   got a hoodie on I don't think he's ever going  to put that over his head but he does have it   available Eric that's the style right it's  all about the contrast of color you got to   get a little blue hanging out to see the Buffalo Bulls on offense   For the First Time new coordinator DJ Mangus  these are his skill position guys yeah DJ   Mangus is a guy who studied underneath some  very talented coordinators Joe Brady one of   the most important 2019 LSU outstanding  offense he was able to learn and play   he doesn't know exactly what he's going to get  from his guys he's going to Trout out a very   talented quarterback in Cole Snider Cole Snider is  from Western New York began his college experience   at ruter last year third most passing yards in  school history 3030 performance for him he is from   Lakewood New York shiaka County bring your tobet  if you go visit first down and 10 pass is complete   short Gainer pick up of five they get it to the  tight end Jake Orlando defensively this is what   Wisconsin looks like absolutely they come over  with the the nephew of the great Jim Trestle Mike   Trestle comes over with that man-to-man defense  from Cincinnati with a lot of Zone Players let's   see if they can find a way to play zone but play  some man as well Alexander Smith comes in from his   Corner Spot and drops booby Curry immediately  that's a very nice job at the point of attack   Alexander Smith he takes on the wide receiver  gets rid of him like a good defensive line   and makes the play on the quick screen so they  lose two yards that's uh rare when you see a   quarterback get a tackle for loss good job Mike  Washington he's wearing a number 41 that's not   his normal number but 41 is passed out each and  every game to a different player who earns it   it's a special program a number honoring Solomon  Jackson over the years more than that story in a   bit so third down at seven Snider wants to  run and he's going to get nowhere close to   the line to gain Jake ch number 36 jumps on  top of him and it's going to be a three and out there is morrice linguist headset on linguist  now in his third year as the head coach of Buffalo   he's an impressive guy uh was actually on the  staff at Michigan for a heartbeat a heartbeat   exactly is right he was almost a Michigan man  but he had to get out of there and come and get   this new opportunity with Buffalo and he's  done a very good job improved every single   year and he thinks this year he's got his best  football team Anthony verer will putt it away   High boot fair catch under the watchful  eye of Luke fickle remember he coached the game   last year the bowl game it was a win this is  his first game coaching as the Wisconsin head   coach at Camp Randall coming off that wonderful  six-year run at Cincinnati look at this patient   run chz maloi first time he touches the ball  first down and more yeah so much talk about   brilin Allen you cannot forget chz mcy the  grad from Clemson I mean he is a explosive   running back in that nice change of pace from  the power of Brin Allen like you a shot out   of a cannon for 13 yards second car maloi this  time not nearly as productive Jer Stevens makes   the tackle we talked to Phil Longo offensive  coordinator Luke fickle he made it clear hey   this is still going to be a run offense because of  the weapons we have we're calling it an air raid   but we're going to still feature the best parts  of our offense which is our backs morai pass is   caught this is Bryson Green that's his first  catch as a badger remember he was not able to   his first Target the one thing I noticed here  at the start usually when you get a big 10 team   especially one the caliber of Wisconsin against  a Mid-American Conference team up front it's   it's hard for that defense of the Mid-American  Conference team to really hold their own but   they're doing a very good job of holding that  line of scrimmage that was a shot of Phil Longo   offensive coordinator a disciple of Mike Leech the  late Mike Leech even though he actually never was   on his staff with Coach leech he just reached  out to him back in the '90s and said I'd love   what you do can I learn and over the next 25  years they built a relationship of trust and admiration so di bashley calls himself a disciple  of Mike Leech in the air raid philosophy second   down and nine play action morai caught that'll be  another first down will Pauling the transfer from   Cincinnati that's his first catch as a badger it's  a very nice job he just slowly runs down the field   and then boom runs an out route very nice job of  the outside guy he ran what it's called a more   route mandatory outside release you go outside  to make sure you protect your inside receiver he   protects him and it's a first down I want a little  more of that they're now inside the 40 balls at   the 38 bril and Allen in the back field they swing  it out to him first catch on the year for Allen   and he bangs it across the 35 to the 34 that's one  thing they said they want to do a little bit more   of because he had that skill set of catching the  ball out of the back field and making plays not   only that they said he doesn't get enough credit  for his ability and pass protection so they want   to use all of his different skills he's got the  new school helmet he does it's weird you know the   bar no bar at the top I haven't gotten accustom  to it just yet buty he is new school he's only   19 amazing third year in the program 19 years of  age they'll play the whole season in 19 Allen rips   it off down to the 21 yd line 13 big ones for  the junior Kester hind the third says 19 where   what do you mean I just felt this man hit me look  at him he's going to get the ball and get through   the hole it's a very nice job but what he's really  special at is breaking tackles at the next level   he breaks a tackle there and then punish helmet  off got to come off the field 19 where yeah it's   a grown man changed his body his body fat dropped  from 11% to 8% stood maloi back in replacing Allen   and they give it to maloi looking for a hole very  patient run down to the 8 yd line we've only seen   two passes on this drive both relatively short  gainers it has been the ground game that's got   them within Striking Distance 13 more yards for  maloi first and goal and maloi pushes the pile   back down to the five that was Marcus fuka on the  tackle bua not just good in pass defense but also   pretty good run stopper as a safety absolutely  and a lot of times he's going to be the free guy   coming out of that back in he's going to have to  come and feel into the line of scrimage because   if you allow these big strong running backs  to get going it's going to be hard to bring   them down in the secondary fuka from Southfield  Michigan Detroit area the pride of Southfield entt maloi didy not quite   knock it on the door about the 6 in line  tackle made by Shawn dolak third down and goal it's a nice job of me driving his  legs and trying to get through but you   imagine they're going to go fast here  and try to get this ball in extremely   quickly and they do touchdown wiconsin  first of the year chz maloi [Applause] so it took half of the first quarter to put six  on the board fifth year senior chz maloi Barrels in now so far this new look Wisconsin Badger  offense is getting the same results as the   old look Wisconsin offense a touchdown  the previous play is under further review all right think this will be one of  those expedited fairly quick reviews   little delayed gratification for meoi  chance to celbrate a little bit more   right it's a nice job by that left  side of line and Brunner and Rie just   caving down caving down and allowing  the running back to just get right behind that's going to be a touchdown every  day of the week and twice on Saturday it   will yeah t cuz we're on Saturday huh yeah  pay attention to the very end and I got it   yeah should be quick all right so our referee  is Cole canle and Cole canle is going to give   our verdict call on the field touchdown just  confirming stands that's interesting   though Eric you would think it would  say confirm barly clear he fell right   over the goal line into the end zone  but either way maloi for Touchdown   so six on the board former Bobcat   he is a native of Cleveland Ohio can find  a good kicker there in Cleveland Ohio Avon Ohio how are the announcers  Ohio I'm just wonder you know   a friend told me that there's only one but he's great extra point is true and  it is a seven nothing lead for Wisconsin so their first drive they got that  inra first down stalled second Drive looked   like a vintage Air Raid Offense with that power  twist which is what Mr Longo wants yeah I was   very excited to see because what what with Bill  long does as an offensive coordinator is he throws   it a lot but he's got some season  that the UB coaching staff will rotate 41   on a weekly basis it's announced the night before  the game it honors Solomon Jackson who passed   away suddenly in 2016 a way to keep his legacy  alive in the program is wearing that number 41   this week it's Mike Washington Jr's turn to  wear number 41 so a great story and a great   cause a why to wear the 41 it's an honor it's an  honor for these players and Washington's going   to get a lot of run today so it's third down at  four after the timeout Snider bullet has a made   look at Daryl Harding first touch as  a ball and he's down to the 9yd line   tackle made by Alexander Smith  but a huge Gainer for [Applause] Harding the transfer from duke coming up big  you got to love the patience from Harden find   a way to set up that kind at the quarterback but when you're in man   defense if you're watching the quarterback  you're going to watch him complete passes he   watched him complete a pass there big play Cole  Schneider to will Harding 51 yards on third and   four to set up the score all right third touch for  Wisconsin on offense and it'll be a Touchback yeah   Luke thickle just a wonderful run six years at  Cincinnati Wisconsin has  expanded rols have changed a little bit but   there's going to be opportunities for a  lot of guys with this power R [Applause] offense Allen makes the first man  miss and crawls out to positive play I spent a lot of time in  Wisconsin generally I think the folks wouldn't   trust anyone who's considered to be dairy free  on their own volition they trust BR Allen here's   Allen and carry by Allen is disrupted  wonderful defense played by Red Murdoch who   just blew it up how about rant Mur he's going to  come into your screen right here and come right   underneath and make the play very nice job coming  from that linebacker position and blowing up what   essentially in the air ra offense is a dive  boom gets him right on his leg takes his leg   from under him it creates a fourth down and the  punt team will have to come on and a little bit   of a nervous hush over the crowd at Camp Randall  punt team comes on for the second time attakus ber trams 40-yd punt first this of   scrimmage against this a little bigger defensive  line of of Wisconsin maybe the final play of   our first quarter one thing you're always  afraid of as a mid- American Conference team   up front can you handle the pressure of the other  team's defense and the the Buffalo offense is   doing a fine job right now well that'll do it 15  minutes in the books absolutely nothing has been   decided trickeration looks over and then the  ball is snapped very nice job by Buffalo he almost   snapped over his head there nice hands so the  chain move Snider wants to throw doesn't have an the edge I would love to see this replace  the pressure and attack where they're coming from fourman Rush Snider that'll be his  first incompletion they try to do it   because they thought the pressure was coming  but nice job by coach Trestle the defensive   coordinator getting out of the Blitz and buffalo  sends in a new play that attacks that Blitz and   the blitz isn't there anymore very nice job of  SN just throwing the ball away and not making   a bad play worse everyone's out there right now  as a coach Trestle the defensive coordinator for   Wisconsin this year Mike Trestle he is the nephew  of Jim trussle who won the National Championship   at Ohio State back close to 25 years ago here's  Washington room to move out to the 40 ydd line   gain of nine that'll bring up fourth down and  a yard a lot of people get confused when it's   third and long and you and you rush the ball but  it's to set up opportunities like this when they   have two safeties remove for the submarine  that offensive line and then there's nowhere   for Cole Snider to go all right we'll mark  that one down buffalo was driving a chance   to actually take a lead on the road mhm but  they shoot themselves in the foot and now   Wisconsin's got the ball back Which tail  back's in the game it's going to be chz   maloi maloi has the only TouchDown for  Wisconsin morai oh my goodness dropped   Skyler Bell looked up to the end zone before  securing the football I mean you get the perfect   call here here it's cover two that means the two  deep safeties are covering the halves where do you   want to attack the middle of the field he leans  he takes it to the middle it's perfect morai a   perfect throw drops it in the bucket and no you  got to turn your hands over I was about to say   as a receiver you play a little receiver you put  that bread basket and you catch it with your hand   steel but you allow it to float in he tries to  attack it hands facing down the ball drops to the ground at some old school Wisconsin power  football as maloi just pushes the pile and   gain six yards it'll bring up third down when you  have opportunities like that you catch a team in   that cover two defense and you want to get to  the middle and you get a guy to the middle you   have got to capitalize because they're not going  to give you the middle so often you got to get   to Midfield morai intercepted heading the other  way this has got a chance and down at the 15 yd line it's Grant on the interception Devin Grant when you're trying to throw the ball  late you're always going to get in trouble   you can see morai is going to take the ball  he waits he waits he hitches he hitches and   you got Deon coming trailing and underneath the  ball is thrown just a tad bit behind it's the   game of inches very nice job of Devin Grant  chasing and making a play 6'4 0 lb when you   got length like that you cannot miss behind  or he'll make you pay for it so that was a   concern with Tanner morai in the spring game  was a little bit loose with the football and   now it happens actually when it counts in a  real game for all the marbles and Luke fickle   is not happy right now the one thing I talked  to Coach Longo about who's worked with talented   quarterbacks out to wo that mory's feet are  always a little antsy right and he said yes   you're absolutely right he does always have a  little anty feet naturally and it's not always   a bad thing but in situations such as that when  you don't have a true plan it can be a bad thing   and they pay for it there Mike Washington in  the back field next to Snider they put Jake   Orlando in the tight end in motion and Washington  follows Orlando for a yard Daryl Peterson on that tackle I'm very impressed with the  upfront strength of this Buffalo   offive line creating a new line of scrimmage  and creating Pathways for the running backs   Mike Washington Jr Ron Cook Jr to find  their way through the hole and pick up yardage got the running back in front it's  probably outside Zone Snider has to get it   off and it's knocked down at the line of scrimmage  it could have been Peterson who knocked it down   it's going to bring up third down you know Eric  I was always I'm always interested when Defenders   trying to pick up clear forward passes like like  it's a fumble it's clearly not a fumble right you   do a very good job of getting your hands up and I  think Buffalo kind of gave that play away when you   line the running back up almost a yard in front of  the quarterback you got to smell a rat if you're   on defense they smell it they get their hands  up and he creates a third down third down and 10 look how you going to have manto  man defense here in the slot you got   a two-way go you can go in and you  can go out it's very tough to cover play clocked out to three fourman rush to the end  zone incomplete I think he caught it I think he   caught it I think they're going to have to take  a look but I think he caught that ball it went   through initially and I think he pinned it to  the side of his legs at the first glance that   if it stands as a catch is an amazing catch if  they review this and call it a catch I haven't   seen a ruling it's it's very unle but the eye of  Deon Gardner I think I think I might have saw it   it goes through there yeah is that it was an  incomplete pass and then pins it to the side   of his leg oh it bounced off of the ground what  a nice effort oh that would have been amazing   so the call on the field was incomplete it'll be  looked at a little longer but pretty clear that   the ball did bounce against the turf and going to  bring up fourth down oh it's still exciting man   he that's a nice effort I don't understand how  it's not pass interference with his left hand   being pinned to his leg why he can only reach one  but that is a nice effort by Marlon Johnson time   out Buffalo coach's challenge challenging ruing  of an incomplete pass yeah well he's probably   going to lose a second time out there with this  challenge Maurice linquist truly was on the other   side of the field and he's just relying on uh  his receiver of course Very ad and also relying   on his kind of his heart maybe not his head you  can see there it's pass interference there for   sure he got the hand pinned but he tried tries  to pin it can't quite get it it goes through   and then he tries to pin it to his leg and we saw  on the other angle that it bounced off the ground   yeah it's it's that's clear incomplete pass but  again a very nice effort by Marlon Johnson and I   can understand why he believes that he caught the  ball but that's Buffalo's going to lose a timeout there oh that tip of the ball bounced right off I  will just say that at first plush I thought it was   an incompletion you thought it was a catch there's  something to be said for my old eyes compared to   your young eyes here's call after further rev  ruling on the field is confirmed incomplete pass   all right first game of the year remember the  terminology if the call stands that means that   they don't have conclusive evidence either way and  it just keep what it but when it's confirmed that   mean that there is conclusive video evidence to  either uphold the call or turn it over all right   so the challenges lost by mace linquist and the little pump fake with a double move it's not  there check the ball down and and what better   check down than brillan Allen brillan Allen  has already tied his career high for catches   in a game that's something they said they wanted  to emphasize cuz he has skills in the department   of being a pass catcher four catches 19 y for  Allen makes him a better Pro Prospect you'd   imagine as well morai going to keep it and he  slides short of the line to gain that's actually   a bad spot I don't think he's anywhere close to  the first down marker but they have him three   yards behind the marker well they always get him  when he starts the slide right and so when they   feel like it's a judgment call if he starts the  slide three yards prior even if he hadn't hit the   ground yet they're going to spot him right there  it looks like he's starting to slide I think is   a good spot I thought he started slide at the  41 and I think the ball's going to be at the 42 oh my goodness and the punt team's going  to come on so instead of thinking about going   for it on fourth down it's going to be a  punting situation that's a bad decision   by Tanner Mory he's got to go ahead first  and go get that first down on third down he   starts his slide prematurely and I think that  the referees did a very good job of spotting   that delay of game number 49 kicking team  5yd penalty fourth down poor adus bertrams   they all the delay game on him this is uh  no Factor at all to Wisconsin they're just   going to give bams a little bit more  room to get it off Lefty kicker number 13 sophomore  from Richman Virginia tackle at the line of   scrimmage it'll bring up a second down and 10  the one thing Buffalo's doing on the edge they   either either crashing their defensive end or  they're folding a linebacker into the line of   scrimmage so it's going to allow for Tanner  morai to pull the ball out in some of those   read option situations especially because they  just don't expect him to be an explosive Runner   and morai has not been a world beater throwing  the football 9 for 13 58 yds with a pick steps   up in the pocket gets it out in space catches coming from behind Pauling   the right arm tries to club and it kind of gets  stuck right if you go to punch something and then   you hit your inside your arm and it stops they  reach in try to work on that shoulder and they   take him in the tent and and the one thing you  didn't see there is his teammate goes to try to   help him up quick grabbing the the set shoulder  that he just hurt so let's see hopefully he can   come back in the game he's a guy that's playing  really hard for his defense third and 14 morai his   pass skips in front of the intended receiver  Skyler Bell there are no flags on the field   so it's Fourth and 14 and Wisconsin will have  to punt again so we talked about his antsy feet   early in the game and and I talked to the coach  of Staff B on the call watch his feet here he   creates this pressure for himself he's moving  he's mov he's moving he moves right until the   pressure is going if he stays in the center  maybe even Retreats a bit he can make this   throw and have his feet on the field but I think  that his feet are really getting him in trouble   here in this early in this game bertrams another  punt here catch called for and made at the now  Cole Snider actually got into a game   against Wisconsin many moons ago he was  the backup quarterback at ruter back in 20   21 and actually got a couple of snaps in  that game was a blowout win for Wisconsin   that game was in Piscataway New Jersey  now the leading man for the Buffalo Bulls backto back carries Washington and he  is going to be about a slice of brick cheese   away from that first down marker third down  and one I love the patience of Snider there   he holds that ball in there with the corner  Blitz coming off the edge the corner has to   decide he has the quarterback holds in there  for a long time he allows the running back   sneak underneath oh oh I don't know the spot  says no middle of the line led by Gio pz and   the safety hunter Waller I think they denied him  it's going to be a fourth down and one that's a   nice job by Hunter warer once again he's the  guy that's free he's not going to be blocked   he has to come and feel as a linebacker would  and he does a masterful job of coming in and   making sure he stops Washington in the  stes they're going to go for on fourth   down and one I see hardc coming I feel like  there's got to be a hardc here yeah the head   coach linguist is right next to the side judge  that's a false start the center moved yes false start3 Sydney Walker didn't actually start the  game came in as the uh the second Center and he's   going to force the punt team to come on I don't  think it's a bad gamble Maybe twitch a little bit   and see if the defense jumps outside maybe refere  doesn't see it yeah referee doesn't see it decent gamble as I suspected they will not be going  for it in the shadow of their own End Zone almost so another opportunity for Wisconsin  to get the football back theer no gets the   punt true   freshman who decommitted from Colorado to play  Big 10 football has the first down and the coach   of Staff said he's a guy that can really run  still working the technique of Route running remaining all that  took was 2 minutes and 8 Seconds to go 55 yds and   Wisconsin who led 7even nothing at one point in  the first quarter now leads 14-7 still one minute   remaining Buffalo with just one timeout we have  to mention the the difference in that drive and   the drive before remember they he slid early right  tan morai slid early did not get the first down   they had to kick the ball away and on that drive  he had an opportunity to slide early with a Doak   who led the country in tackles a year ago but he  stopped let him go by furthers the drive and then   he gets that opportunity to throw that D to DK so  in this new Air Raid Offense it is Tanner Mor's   legs that made the difference here in the second  quarter touch back ball will be spotted at the 25 the buffalo bulls have the football virtually  everyone who follows Buffalo calls them U so I'm   going to call him UB here for just a smoke  make it sound like uh maybe we'll get to   some free wings at duffs or first down at 10 Cole Snider shiaka County's finest and the play clock is that the  real play clock mace linquist is saying   that's Goofy and Cole Snider's telling  him to get that play clock switched out no they were coming late delay a game the  offense 5yd penalty remains first down I think   it's you could hear Maurice lingu saying they  came on late he wouldn't allow us to snap the   ball he's a vocal linguist that's tough cuz they  were ready right we saw Snider standing there he   was ready to hike the ball but Wisconsin hadn't  tried it on the field yet they didn't allow it wow   so first and 15 Wisconsin's got three timeouts you  got to run the football here right Washington he's   got a great carry on first down that's huge for  them cuz now I'm assuming Wisconsin's not going   to call timeouts yeah outstanding Drive starter  now you can try to kind of start attacking if   you're Buffalo to try to go get points and get  in field goal range if they hadn't got anything   Wisconsin probably would have called three  timeouts and got the ball back I think so now an   incompletion would stop the clock oh but they're  cooking with gas they're looking for some points   catches made by Jake Orlando that's a first  down clock stops 36 seconds remaining in our   half it's a nice job of basic concept you run it  in high school Little League football professional   football and now college football a smash concept  where you have a hitch route at five yards by the   outside receiver and then a corner from the tight  end and he flattens it out very nice job by Cole   Snider flatting him out like an out route for  a first down you dreaming Big Dreams the guys   from Amherst New York caught that's another catch  parody had a touchdown in the first quarter he's   inside the 40 clock stops temporarily remember the  rule change this year throughout the middle of the   game the clock doesn't stop the clock continues to  run on first downs but now because they're at the   end of the half the clock stops on first downs and  they have an opportunity and a timeout called by a   gast Wisconsin defense Maurice linquist upset with  the how this drive started but beaming right now   with the way that his bulls have dusted themselves  off yeah I mean they're allowing Cole Snider to   drop back read the defense and pick him apart he  does a very good job when he throws that corner   route you you have to know that he's going to  Splat the receiver out but very nice job of   catching the ball and taking a hit by Cole her who  already has a touchdown in this game all right for   the Wisconsin fans out there there's no shame  in fighting a good battle against Buffalo the   Bulls last year seven and six 5 and three in the  ma a lot of their best players didn't graduate   decided to stay after Spring ball not one person  left they're so excited and jazzed to be part of   this program this is a program that's going to  cause some waves this year in the mid- American   Conference yeah it's a veteran lated team the  quarterback and then remember they have two   Defenders that have potential to be all- Americans  Marcus fuka led the country in interceptions and   Shawn Doak led the country in tackle for the 147  first down and 10 little look at me offense Snider   with Washington next to him  plenty of time on the pl clock fourman rush and the pass was behind  Washington that was where the defender the   Blitzer had vacated it's a very nice  job what you want to do is attack the   blitz now Snider just has to make a  better throw right cuz you're going   to catch that you're going to get a few  yards and you're going to be able to get   out of bounds Buffalo still with a timeout  they've got a kick with a big leg and Alex [Music] mcnalty Guma on jonga on the outside  again oh my God inside run Washington to the   35 they're going to have to call out yeah I  guess you could run up to the and Spike it   quickly but NOP they called the timeout 16 seconds  remaining it's a gain of four third down and six   huge plays on this drive and it started with  this run by Mike Washington formerly number   eight wearing number 41 today and then the  corner R where he flattens out the tight end   very nice job by Cole Snider navigating that  throw and then he puts it right in the middle   of the defense and the rest is all Cole who  finds a way to get down field stops the clock   just momentarily and they would continue to  move and like you said their kicker has a big leg now this is uh an interesting battle you got  some experienced quarterbacks Cole Snider IS F   College season Tanner Mory his sixth comparable  numbers the only slip on the banana peel Mory with   that interception you got MC NTI who is a capable  kicker he made a 54 y a year ago but he's on the   bench right now it's going to be third down at six  and the offense with no timeouts on the field for   Buffalo you got to find a way to get this ball  to the sideline if the ball's caught inside the   field play everybody has to know run up and we got  to get a quick play called Snider dangerous pass   and it is not caught that was almost intercepted  and instead it's going to be fourth down I love   where the ball's throw like I thrown like I  said you got to get the ball outside I do not   like the dangerousness of it you got cover two  so the corner sinks underneath it he's supposed   to be in the flat but he sees an opportunity and  he and he pbu his own guy that's a pass break up   you had an interception with the safety courtesy of the right toe of MCN   does a very good job he gets all  of this one comes out a little low   but he atones from that earlier  Miss and sticks it right down the middle all right so Buffalo barring something  really odd in the final 7even seconds of our   first half they can go to the locker room  only down by four against the 19th ranked   team in the country this is a clearly  uncharted waters for Buffalo Bulls fans   first of all winning against Big 10 team  uh winning against the ranked team big big   big hurdles but those are still possibilities  with 30 minutes and 7 seconds remaining in our game seven Place 40 yds resulting in the  touchdown bus have only won once against   a rank team once that was against Ball State in  the 2008 MAC Championship game I think that Ball   State team had Nate Davis as the quarterback he  was the quarterback who didn't use the strings   when he threw it odd no string and he hoer for  an arm very odd I don't trust the guy that's a   quarterback that does use the string I'm with  you on that I don't trust him yeah unless it's   a quick bubble screen you know you got to get  the ball loud can't get the LA but if you power Air   Raid Offense getting ready to start our third  quarter Camp Randle Stadium it is a scure hot   day but the offense for Wisconsin has not been  particularly red hot in the home debut for Luke   fickle just 14 points against Buffalo in the  first 30 minutes glad to have you along for   the ride with my longtime partner Devin Gardner  I am Eric Collins uh we heard so much about this   new power Air Raid Offense your thoughts to the  first two quarters I think they've kind of gotten   away with what they really had Success With You  got the big guys the running backs you got bran   Allen running down the middle but then they did  a good job in the beginning with width and depth   they gotten away from it right they've putting  the ball in their quarterback's hands and I don't   think that he's quite ready in the system to have  that as something on his shoulders all right folks   in case you missed any of it let's take a look at  our first half highlights and show you how the uh   the game was played out absolutely it started fast  for Wisconsin they got in the end zone used that   power Run game with maloi Gets In The End Zone but  then Buffalo responds a nice route by her who Gets   In The End Zone shows the crowd some love and then  you see tan Quai start to settle in he hits a nice   throw up the seam against that middle safety of  Buffalo and gets in the end zone and then Buffalo   comes down and a booming 53 yd kick right down  the middle by mcnalty has this game at 10 to 14   a dog fight look at the numbers Wisconsin winning  the Battle of total yards but not by a huge margin   that turnover was big Tanner Mory threw that pick  and it set up Buffalo uh close for a touchdown   they actually didn't score that drive but that  actually thwarted something that the Badgers   thought was going to be hopeful on that drive yeah  I mean if you're Buffalo you have to be excited   but this is where when you have a Mid-American  Conference versus a Big 10 Conference team in   the second half is where the Big 10 Conference  Team usually starts to pull away because of the   depth so you got to if you're Buffalo you got  to continue doing what you're doing and try   to shuffle guys in especially with it being the  hottest game on record at C Randle it's actually   cooling off it was 91 earlier currently 89 but  uh yeah the hottest game ever in the history of   Wisconsin football at Camp Randle this is a  building that opened up way back when in 196   this is the fourth oldest building fourth oldest  college football division one FBS facility Camp   Randall who knew into the third quarter it could  get dangerous right one of the oldest buildings   that jump around jump around Buffalo starts with  the football this is Ron Cook who pushes the pile   forward across the 20 to the 21 all right so  Buffalo's got the football veteran quarterback   Cole Snider was not particularly flashy 12  completions 124 yards but he was a good game   manager and he showed the possibility to move the  sticks when needed he was consistent and efficient   and that's exactly what they're going to need from  him and they do a St of the Air Raid Offense where   they attack with whd and death and they found some  success in the Run game if they can continue to do   that they'll have a real chance here in this  second half so an equal mix with Ron Cook and   Mike Washington in the back field love a little  window dressing to start a play in the second half again that delayed hand up just waiting  for something to develop and this time it works   this is Washington to the edge Mike Washington  the sophomore from UDA 14 yards on first down   everything said that they were going to go inside  they had the bunch set outside to the left but   they go inside they go inside they go inside so  it sucks all the defenders in for Wisconsin and   then a very good job of Washington bouncing  it outside and just using speed to get to the edge tight formation Washington with another chance this  time a modest gain spun down Jordan Turner in   that mix it's a nice job by Gabe Wallace making  sure he takes that talented linebacker number   55 Muma Jung meta out of the way to clear  space for the running back to pick up a few yards last year Buffalo a B team they beat Georgia  Southern in the chamelea bow 7- six overall record   5 and three in the ma out of space Cole her  brought down quickly that is a wonderful tackle   made Jason matri the transfer from Boston College  but it's a gain of five it'll bring up third down   and short outstanding job outflanking the defense  right away you got Corner blit from the backside   but it can't get there the ball is out and that's  how you beat pressure make sure the ball gets out   on time and a very nice job of a concept with  a little pick play super early in our second   half but this is an important play for Buffalo  third Downs weren't their friend in the first half Washington next to Snider in the back field dump out to Washington wonderful tackle  made Jordan Turner not only sniffed it out but   was able to make an open field tackle that's  an outstanding job by Jordan turno the veteran   linebacker I remember him in high school at  Farmington High School in Michigan he was   an outstanding football player he gets to go to  Wisconsin and he's been a tackling machine here   here for many years so it forces the fourth down  you saw Maurice linquist frisky with his play call   in decision making in the first half this time  standard issue is going to bring on the punt team Wisconsin will be happy to  get the football back no damage done booming kick and DK lets it go  over his head and into the end zone   so it'll be a Touchback score that 60  yards on the punt but only a net of 40   as the ball is a Touchback we've got a timeout  Wisconsin their first second half look when we return Saturday it's baseball night in America  on Fox Harper and the Phillies take on Yelich and   the Bruins or kareah and the twins battle Seager  and the Rangers it's baseball night in America on Fox FS1 college football sponsored by Volkswagen  Madison Wisconsin Saturday afternoon in September   that means Wisconsin Badger football Badgers 19th  ranked team of the country first possession of the   second half only two scores for Wisconsin  in the first half two touchdowns one on   the ground one through the air brillan Allen  relatively quiet eight carries 38 yards Devon   in the first half it'll be interesting to see if  they don't shift him back behind the quarterback   a little more or even go to that pistol set so  you can get his big body moving downhill right   now you're at a disadvantage just because you  got him going laterally to start and he can't   use his true Advantage which is his size and  strength averaged over 100 yard per game last   year as a sophomore this is Will Pauling for  Pauling that's now four catches been targeted   four times he's caught them all there's the  width and depth we talked about at halftime   get the ball outside allow your Playmakers  to run and move and make that defensive line   of Buffalo who stood pretty strong in this  game Run sideline to sideline third down at four this is not a guaranteed pass down if if  they move those safeties out outside the box you   can run this football morai designed quarterback  run and he's tripped up by dolak morai made dolak   look foolish in the second quarter this time  Doak gets his revenge a nice job dolak comes   underneath to make this play very good job you see  him flying into your screen the offensive lineman   just cannot get to him and that tackling machine  makes another tackle he said hey fool me once   shame on you fool me twice that'll be my fault  nice job by Doak getting in there and forcing   this punt the pride of West senica loss of two  fourth down at six a three and out for Wisconsin [Music]   not a great punt so it's going to be decent  starting field position for the Buffalo Bulls let's talk a little bit about Maurice  linquist and the Buffalo Bulls he is a third-year   head coach and he is really got them uh rallying  around the concept Devon of hard yeah I love the   model hard right cuz everybody wants to be hard  everybody wants to make sure that they tackle   hard well handle adversity respond and dominate  in all things I love the The Motto and his his   defense his team today they played hard in every  way and that's what we expect so I I was excited   to see this game and see how it All Shook out you  got a ma team versus a big 10 team and buffalo is   not disappoined second possession of the second  half for Buffalo cook makes the First wall Miss   and and gets out close to Midfield see what  Buffalo is doing they're finding a way to get   their running backs down heel there's not a whole  bunch of lateral Movement by the running back he's   taking that nice Zone step to the left and he's  getting downhill creating the the effect of being   under Center and allowing him to use his power  gain of six on first [Music] down buffalo has   only beat one ranked team in school history  cook free and he's got a first down he runs   hard he's only 59 190 lbs but he's not easy  to bring down whd and depth whth and depth he   gets him outside he out flanks the defense right  away and then it's up to him to make a play he   does a very good job with the stiff arm when you  keep that ball on the outside arm the left hand   can defend yourself and then he can move and use  his power and get down he for another first down fresh set of [Applause] downs Snider cook to the 41 Jason matri another  tackle gain of five man they went to that Tampa   two defense and buffalo had a good call if they  would have been regular cover two they had a guy   screaming down the middle but very nice job  by Wisconsin and a well time call by coach   Trestle the defensive coordinator with that  linebacker chasing down the middle going quickly cook and it's going to bring up  third down Jordan Turner MBA Jong   meta and there's a flag down oh that's a late flag and before would have been a third down this  is going to be interesting I feel like I'm not   going to like this I think they're going to get  Gabe Wallace for a late hit but it feels like he's   just going through the echo of the wh whistle and  finishing his [Applause] guy after the play was   over dead ball personal foul number 69 yd of down  I don't I don't I don't love this I I feels like   he went through the echo of the whistle right  that's tell your offensive lineman that's what   you tell your football players and he's just  finishing a block very aggressively here he is   right corner yeah you can't really  see him but he's going to finish him   through the whistle I mean it looked  like a very good block to me but uh   they get him for penalty so it's  third and 18 that is a big time loss see how Wisconsin plays this just a three-man  rush and it's caught up the shoot tops that's   Johnson nope we don't play on incomplete I  think even Johnson knew he didn't really catch   he's trying to go through the motions and  it's fourth down ah you just don't see that   from Cole Snider right you got an opportunity  for a big play right you have the numbers yet   again using that width of the field and you  throw a ball at the shoe tops like you said   and he can't Coral it he would have had a  nice play there that is a a huge penalty   that set this drive back for the Buffalo Bulls  they plus 50 territory it was a third down and   short and then it all got wiped away and  now have to punt the football you only get   so many chances against the Big 10  team if you're from the ma yeah that's [Applause] true here comes the  rush and the punt just sneaks out   of there and it's a great punt wow  earning the scholarship that is a   fantastic Punt and it'll be down at  the 10 yd line Wisconsin Badgers   has produced 14 points they lead Buffalo 14-10  let's talk about Mr Mory they started a little   slow Happy Feet ball behind interception  by The Talented safety but then Mory he   allows the defender the leading tackler in  the country a year ago do to fly right by   and then you saw him hit the seam route and put  the ball in the end zone he's starting to settle   in you can see there there are some Jitters  remember we kind of talked about a little bit   the spring game didn't go as as he wanted to when  we talked to the coach staff and asked did he feel   about that he's like no he's a veteran like he's  a guy who played a lot of football he's played   good he's played bad he handled it well and he's  starting to settle in here in the second half as   well so the ball's at the 11 yd lines chz maloi  has the ball and maloi has been super impressive   look at this maloi out to Midfield he's got a  chance spinning what kind of speed do you got touchdown 89 big [Applause] ones chz maloi that's how you Electrify a rout very  nice job of mui getting through the line of   scrimmage offensive line creating line  of scrimmage there's your ho all right   but the rest of this is Mei he's running  he's running he cuts back he cuts back and   then one more cut to get all the way  to the end zone chz Mali welcome to Madison that's a long time coming but it is a  10-point lead the largest of the afternoon for   the locals and an extra Point coming there is  a man down for Buffalo so we're going to delay   that a little bit more time to throw roses at chz  maloi 89 yards on a day where brillan Allen was   not having massive success running the football  it's good to have a nice Tamp team partner I mean   how about the patience from maloi and earlier  in the game you saw his first car he said man   he's shot out of a cannon right he's very patient  very patient behind that big offensive line and   then he shoots out of a cannon and has the  gas what kind of speed do you got he had it all 150 yards on the ground  officially 151 from meoi on   10 carries this is Jaylen McNair second  time today that he's been helped off the field but that is just what Wisconsin needed with  the offense limping a little bit to be picked up   by the old school tailb like it's been done for  so many years in Madison it's uh didn't always   look like that though that's a home run hitter  H little Jonathan Taylor little Jonathan Taylor   little maloi what the maloi that was crazy it's a  great run previous long in the career of maloi was   60 yards that just shattered 89 yards to the creek  vakos makes an 11-point lead and some breathing   room right now for the Wisconsin Badgers the night  ring team in the country I mean this is very very   good you got to love the patience patience right  and then slip and go I mean that is next level   patience and then the explosiveness to go down to  zero with the patience and then hit 100 milph and   then gear down and then hit it and then gear down  again and go to the end zone it's a very nice job   a very nice run by a very talented player so all  of a sudden as a team the Wisconsin Badgers 19   yard that's what you expect but  89 of it coming on one run by chz maloi I talked about it at halftime stay  with what you know get these running backs   involved use the width of the field but  these running backs are the strength of   this Wisconsin football team and the  offensive line if they can get those   guys going it's going to open up all the things  you want for Tanner morai in the passing game kickoff goes to the back of the end zone Touchback  ball to be spotted at the 25 yd line tonight it's   baseball night in America on Fox the fight for  the postseason is on Bryce Harper and the Phillies   take on Christian Yelich and the Brewers or  Carlos carrer leads the twins against Cory   Seager and the Rangers catch the action tonight  7 Eastern on Fox check for the game in your area Okay pressure is now on Buffalo Cole  Schneider leads the offense back out in the   field they had a puncher chance at scoring  last time they had the football but just a   critical critical penalty called on Gabe Wallace  somewhat dubious put them back and now the Bulls   will try and get back on the beam Ron Cook in  the back field Snider wants to throw nobody   home that's the fourth time today we've seen  him just throw it out of bounds because no   one was open for him yeah I mean remember  earlier in the game I said they're giving   up way too many gifts to to co Seer they have  to get up in the faces of these wide receivers   and they've done that and so now you can't just  catch the ball and throw Quicks you got to hold   the ball just a little bit longer and it allows  for that rush to get to Cole Snider he does a   good job of throwing the ball the away once out  of the pocket but the thing is you have to stay   in the faces of these wide receivers and not give  easy completions what they've done here though is   try to outflank the defense right away cook with  the carry goes off left tackle he's got the first down that's the sixth carry for Ron Cook we've  also seen big dose of Mike Washington who's   carried it 12 times again inside Defender goes  outside so cook can cut back very nice job of   pressing the hole press the hole press the  hole and then cut back right underneath the   defender very nice job by cook he's run the  ball extremely well and he is part of why   this offense keeps them in the game but they  got to make some motion here on this drive cross the middle that's a 5yd gain catch made by  Marlon Johnson second down and [Music] manageable   season opener for both sides Buffalo they've got  forom next week Wisconsin they've got Washington   State a team they lost to last year at Camp Randle  if you want the edge at the top of your screen   they can outlink the defense right away with those  quick out patterns or averaged over  100 yards per carry 1,200 yards as a freshman   as a sophomore he's sitting on 49 right now the  entire state of Wisconsin wondering about this   new offense what happens to to tail back back  you do you need to make some make amends here   with Prayin allo give him the ball look where  they completely change the way they're handing   him the ball here obviously it's not for this  guy's strong man but you can see the difference   the play before this in the pistol now this play  you can see that he's behind the quarterback he   can step over but how about this nice car touchdown last time they touched  it will Pauling he's scooting across the 50   spun down after a nice gain and this Wisconsin  offense has some athletes with some explosion   in their legs and Pauling is one of those guys  that get it to him on the quick screen he starts   to try to navigate down the field for another  Wisconsin first down so do back in the game   147 tackles a year ago 97  of them solo that led the country morai that is wow incomplete caught but out  of bounds CJ Williams haven't talked about CJ   Williams and he went out of bounds and it's  actually a legal touching they're probably   going to get him for he he ran out of balance  on his own it's it's odd he just didn't have   awareness of where he was on the field and  then obviously can't be the first to touch   it that's why the referee's hat is off of his  head because he threw it receiver stepped out   of bounds came back in was first to touch the  ball the player was out of bounds incomplete   pass so no penalty it just so lucky for it  lucky for Wisconsin he was out of bounds   when he caught the ball again or it would have  been a penalty you can see it right there at   the bottom of your screen he's out of bounds  the referee's going to throw his hat and then   he's inbounds in the first to touch the ball  CJ Williams the transfer from USC Mission Vio   California Native he's loving Madison right now  wait till it gets to be February hand off Allen   down here best run of the day for the big fella  Allan inside the 10 to the six that's what 245   pound of functional strength looks like get  the big fella downhill downhill and allow him   to navigate through let him run straight the  big bone stick his foot in the ground and now   run straight and after they saw dolak get inside the team Allen's got it Allan touchdown Wisconsin I remember this style of Wisconsin football first touchdown of the year for brilin Allen powerful strong big fast and a  terror for guys to block everybody just   reaching reaching reaching allowing him  in the pistol like we talked about to go   downhill and attack this Buffalo Bulls defense  I think they might have listened to me I don't   they might have listened to the broadcast cuz  all of a sudden he's in the pistol he's going   downhill and they figured out this man can't be  stopped it's like a runaway train 245 lbs worth   so when push comes to shove if you're in Madison  the crowd's getting into it give the ball to a   tailb 151 yds for maloi knocking at the door of  the Sentry Mark brilin Allen we've seen that line   before and there is a buffalo player down CJ  Bazil is being looked at it's the second make   it the third Buffalo bull who has been down  on the field defensively on this drive alone this is big boy football Mid-American conferences  wonderful quality football but on a hot day first   game of the year MH sometimes bodies don't hold  up that's what I talked about at halftime I said   the second half is where you start to wear  especially on a hot day the depth in the   Mid-American Conference you just don't have the  depth to continue to compete with the Wisconsin   football team but they are staying in the game but  they have to find a way on offense this next drive   to get something going remember this drive started  at the three yard line it's a long time ago eight   plays 97 yards the line share of it coming on  the ground with brillan Allen good to see Bazil   walking off on there own power gingerly I might  add so the lead is 17 for Wisconsin with an extra   point pending every time we've seen them on the  bench you notice that they've been right next to   each other of course 13 is there a rule that you  have to sit next to well you know the offense Us   in the groups they sit next to each other on  the on the bench so it's your coach can come   over and talk to everybody about what he's seeing  and different things like that so it's yes it is   a rule actually I was there the best friends yeah  extra point is good wasn't particularly pretty but   it counts and it's an 18-point lead every weekday  catch the those Fearless voice in sports college our second half cool story   about the quarterback Cole Snider uh he is from  Western New York Southern Tier uh his high school   coach at Southwestern Central is a former Big  10 name you may remember ju kcri big running   back fullback SL tailback Michigan State I think  he was there at the same time as Javon Ringer uh   but anyway he is a kind of a a legendary high  school player in Western New York he was the   coach for Cole Snider during Cole Snider's High  School experience culer should have been in the   Big 10 when you were in the Big 10 right Deon no  no we can't figure out when you played you were   there at some point right it was ages ago I think  I was with the guy who never tied his shoes you   want to know a fun fact what's that never played  at Wisconsin or against Wisconsin five years in   five years as a Michigan player never not me  that's no are you going to tell me I'm wrong   I'm saying it's wrong that there's something wrong  with that no that makes no sense so do you know   that they jump around at the third quarter I'm  going to get a chance to see it for the first time   first time seeing it live will be today how  about that in about two minutes and let's say   28 seconds give or take all I'm going to give you  a warning pack it up pack it in let me begin just saying second down and 10 Wisconsin obviously looking better both  offensively and defensively here in the second   half got some of those free throws that you had  early in the game if you want to take them if   you're Cole Snider the Wisconsin secondary is  kind of backed off designed roll out what a   oh Cole her pass was behind him almost brought  it in with the left hand Almost Doesn't Count   college football it's just something you haven't  seen from Cole Snider he hasn't been off Target   with no pressure rolling left there he throws the  ball significantly behind coher that's one he's   going to wish he had back because you're going to  pick up five six seven yards and set up a really   manageable third down Buffalo's only converted one  third down the entire ball game because they've   been in situations like this third and long third  and 10 is not conducive to success for for a team   who can't truly protect in the straight drop back  game and it looks like they are going to bring pressure here it comes quick check down to cook   and an open field tackle made by Alexander Smith  that's how you play defense very smart he knows   that he has to get the ball out they have an  outlet for him but the outlet is tackled quickly   by Alexander Smith it's a nice job open field  tackle cuz we've seen Ron Cook break tackles   with his strength and quickness very nice job of  a cornerback coming up and making that play all alone so the punt team comes on six  punts 49 ydd per punt Anthony verer   another good punt fielded at the 38 yd line  DK Jim Ray DK tackled close to Midfield and   with 141 remaining in our third quarter the  Wisconsin offense going to come back on the field I don't think they should get away  from what has been their bread and butter   these last few drives hand the ball off to those  talented running backs and allow them to do their Duty you saw the offensive coordinator Phil  Longo having a conversation with Tanner morai   Phil Longo chooses to be an offensive coordinator  on the field there he is not up in the booth yeah   I mean just one year with Tanner morai has a lot  of information that he has to get through to his   senior quarterback and he wants to be able to  look him in his eyes and know how he feeling   during the game now the last quarterback that Phil  Longo worked with was down at North Carolina yeah   Drake May Drake May outstanding quarterback he's  going to play later tonight uh and also before   him you got a quarterback that he's playing in  in Washington with the Washington commanders now   uh he he has developed quarterbacks and done  a very good job of getting guys in position   to be successful and he's doing it again here  late in this second half with Tanner morai Sam   how is the quarterback that's Washington Tanner  morai takes a shot in the face boom what a throw   and I love his head his head stays steady even  after the hit continuing to stay focused on his   Target and that's how you stay accurate when  you're being hit very nice job by Tanner Mory   he's really settling in here in the second  half second catch for the Freshman Tucker Ashcraft two catches 36 yds for Ashcraft and and a man is down that's again jayen  McNair third time he's been down he's trying to   get up and he's shaking his head like we talked  about it's the it was the hottest game in record   Ling was talking to the referee here trying to  get things sorted out but how about the second   half Run game it started with maloi in this  electrifying run that Not only was electrified   it electrified the crowd you could hear the  crowds Roar they were a little M but then   it got it all started and BR Allen just bone  we could call him Bone Crusher because he is   running through blue helmets like they're not  even there and then he caps it off with a nice   run to get in the end zone there uh this  run game is going to be everything that   they thought it would be with these two running  backs but they have to find a way especially   when brillan Allen is the running back get him  in that pistol get him in that left Zone step   or right Zone step and get him going downhill  but with maloi you can go laterally in those   outside Zone situations MC is still down so  we still have an official timeout Wisconsin   using it to talk about their plans uh for  jumping around at the end of the third quarter bad your players get into it as  much as the fans do if you don't know and   it is the beginning of the year ever since  1998 House of pains Jump Around plays Camp   Randle in between the third and the fourth  quarter very few things in college football   ball are similar uh Kyle Field down to Texas  A&M they kind of get into it they sway back   and forth and makes it look like uh Kyle  Field is is moving and about to collapse   but for my money the jump around timeout  between the third and the fourth quarter   is the best tradition in college football are  you just trying to rub it in cuz you found out   I've never been there I can't years in Michigan  not once I think you're rubbing it in at this   point that could be the final play of the third  quarter and I get my first opportunity could be clock is moving again you never know with   Wisconsin football this year they  don't huddle they get to the line quickly Tanner morai wants to experience his  first Jump Around folks pack it up pack it in   let me begin getting ready for the fourth  quarter at Camp Randall Jump Around H jump around but when I go for a ride no matter  how perfect the momentum the rotation it all   comes down to one thing tires you can country leading by 18 chz maloi with the   carry there a lot of cool things a lot  of cool traditions in college football   I don't know man that's pretty good it is  that's pretty good it is now pretty good   has been the Wisconsin offense here in the  second half they have run for 150 yard after   running for just 101 in the first half back to  Wisconsin Smashmouth football on third down at   six that's not going to be enough what a play  that was a smoke job Amonte Struthers comes   from his quarterback spot and going to force a  fourth down yeah he came made that play like a safety I love to see Buffalo continueing  to fight right not going away and when we   talked to Coach morce language we knew that  that would be the case for sure they were   going to fight to The Bitter End and at a  half time I talked about they had to make   a big stand in their first possession just  because of the depth of of a ma team versus   a big 10 team and they've kind of that that's  kind of War on them right they've gotten the   Run game going in Wisconsin but now they get a  chance at a field goal Nick V goes 37 yds and   he spins it through shot transfer from Ohio  University his first field goal attempt with Wisconsin and it's the biggest lead  of the game 21o stiff arm for the   locals getting a chance to rest after jumping around Nebraska battles Colorado in a big  news Saturday Showdown then Oregon takes   on Texas Tech and Stanford faces ranked USC it  all kicks off next Saturday at noon Eastern on Fox Wisconsin having a good old time against  Buffalo they lead by 21 points Alexander Smith   singing along to uh Fill Me Up Buttercup you know  what I love most about this he's from cover city   of California he's a tough guy but he's singing  this song with so much passion but it seems like   he's doing a rap song too it's like he's got  the tough he has to say tough but he's also   knows that's a really nice song good for him  largest lead of the game Wisconsin up by 21 uh   this was uh very far from being a sure thing for  Wisconsin at the half remember they led by Just   Four Points it was 14-1 at intermission second  half Wisconsin has shut out the Buffalo Bulls   17 nothing is the score in just our second half  but still a chance for Cole Snider you got to   remember to start this game Cole Snider started  seven for seven made a lot of great decisions   but the third Downs have really been bugaboos  for uh Buffalo they just haven't been able to   convert on those third down opportunities booby  Curry tackled K lotu loss of three this is part   of the reason too Wisconsin's defense has really  found out how to remedy those quick screens on the   outside and I'm just telling you the depth at wide  receiver and being able to block these guys for   60 Minutes is just not there and the secondary  is flying to the ball and when you start your   drive with a loss of three it makes it very  difficult to get back on schedule when you   get to third down and that's why they haven't  been able to be successful here in the second half cook can't handle it wasn't going to go  very far he had Jeff patski with the sights   on him and it's now third down and 12 last four  possessions for Maurice linquist team uh Grant   total of 19 22 3 oh my goodness 23 yards when  you factor in the loss of 15 last time they had   it it's been tough sledding here in the second  half third down at 12 line to gets the 35 we're   they're in empty now here it's long distance  so I would expect that Wisconsin will not bring   pressure but they are looking like they might  all right they drop out only Rush four quick   little inside screen Marlon Johnson weaves out  to to the 29 but that is going to be well short   of the line to gain and maybe Buffalo keeps  the offense on the field I'm not going to say   that Buffalo had a realistic chance but they were  within four they had the ball they were driving   and a real tough penalty Gabe Wallace was called  for time out time out Eric they definitely had a   realistic chance they were in this game and they  were playing really well fighting at the line of   scrimmage doing a very good job of creating a  new line of scrimmage at the offensive line but   they've just been warn and Warn and War and now  they have a fourth down opportunity fourth and six   Snider pass is complete that'll be a first down  Marlin Johnson how about the pocket movement and   the ability to find a way to this completion nice  job he takes the drop he sees he gets a nice hard   conflict climb and then jumps and drives that ball  on the chest of his wide receiver nice job picking   up that first down Blitz is picked up nice catch  made by her and her out to Midfield tackled by   Tren block I think Block's had a chance to be real  good this year he's been plagued with injuries now   at his sixth year sixth year but the 20 number  26 dvan block could be a name we talk about a   lot with Wisconsin football this is another thing  that Buffalo did when they had a lot of success   this Tempo they kind of got away from it and you  have to think it's because of the depth Factor   cook how did he keep sliding through every wave  of Defense that's a real good run by Rod cook   it's a powerful one patient yet powerful patient  yet powerful seems we saw more of Mike Washington   in the first half and more of Ron Cook here in  the second half yeah man they're going with the   guy that that kind of has really gotten going  and it's been Ron cook cook oh get away Hunter   Waller very nice job coming out of the secondary  and making that play this is a tough guy to get   on the ground and one-on-one combat and he does  a nice job taking his legs out from underneath   him and putting him on the ground Hunter  Waller plays with it's called the dollar   position in Mike Trestle offense money plays  all over the field that tackle was money for sure third down and one if Buffalo has any  dreams remaining this has got to be converted   they got two downs to do it it's going to be  cook taking the direct snap and I don't know   think they going to give it to him I think he only  needed just a little bit I don't think so partner   we'll see first time all year we're  going to disagree oh didn't get it   so would you say I'm right and you seem to be right yep officially no gain so it's Fourth Down  the offense is going to stay on the field that's   a heck of a job there by the middle of the line  and the linebackers Jordan Turner in the first   half that's not what we saw we saw the offensive  line able to create a new line of scrimmage but   we saw this quarterback sneak earlier and it  did not workn ah and it did not work again they   didn't get it oh that spot looks decent we'll see  they needed to get to the next yard line be close   and I don't think they had the wrong side judge  give the spot no they're not going to get it this   is going to be Wisconsin football time out for a  measurement all right so they bring in the chains   remember that yellow line on the screen is not  the official line so that's why going to go out   and measure at home you're probably thinking oh  you didn't get it it's very clear but it is very   close so they're going to measure and I'm with  you Eric I don't think they got it I mean I said   it first so I guess you're with me so they start  tight formation they try and push Snider forward   and it's so hard to see where the ball is when  he's on top of that pile so when they were if   they were to review it even there's no way you  can really overturn where he was uh in relation   to the first down in the yard line of the game  all right what do we got here got extended of course oh my goodness by about a  half of BR worst it's going to be   Wisconsin ball the defense holds  and the Badgers have the ball up   by 21 I don't think that was a half of  broadw I think that was three cheese curs like  all no no not going to go there oh for sure I   did Wisconsin has the football they have dominated  this second half 17 to nothing they have outscored   Buffalo since the halftime break debut as the  Badger quarterback Tanner morai throws a pass   that's complete to brillan Allen Allen has  already obliterated his previous career high   for catches in a game that's his sixth catch he's  been targeted six times and Deon he's caught all   six passes yeah I mean the coaching staff talked  about the credit he doesn't get as a pass blocker   and a pass receiver and they said they're going to  make a point to keep him involved in the offense   in that way and he's done it like you said already  seven catches seven targets tripped up after a   short gain clester Hines all right does Wisconsin  have the type of offense to milk a 21-point lead   100% right what we've seen is the Run game you can  see the stats there at the bottom of your screen   21 of 27 very efficient but only 100 184 yards  it's nothing too drastic and he hasn't really   exploded as a passer it's been the Run game  that's really dominated this second half and   they can lean on that if they wanted to and milk  all eight of these minutes off the clock if they   want can a team that wants to go quickly slow  it down I think so I think so all right timeout   is called by Buffalo this is a critical third  down and nine they want to get the ball back so   they use their first timeout and will take that  timeout as well third nine for Wisconsin when we return there is a rich tradition of winning in  Madison at least in recent vintage 21 straight   winning seasons that's the long as act to streak  them of power five schools they won a bowl game   eight of their last nine 83 wins but that's the  most without a college football playoff appearance   so a lot of great numbers But ultimately not  a great great great stat they have never done   the college football playoff thing yeah they  want to finish the deal the history is Rich   and they they they're kind of changing over the  way that people see Wisconsin football obviously   going to still have a lot of that power run oh my  goodness terrible pass this is dock the other way   dock down to the 10 yd line yikes sha dock just a  gift the ball almost hit with a face mask second   pick thrown by Tanner morai that's so tough  when you're trying to throw over the middle   and I'm just telling you Tanner morai never  saw him you can't see him in the screen right   now but he tries to throw this ball and he just  sneaks right in front of it very nice job by doic   the guy who tackles everyone shows that he has a  nice set of hands as well dock led the country in   Solo tackles last year gets himself a pick that's  something that Buffalo defensively did very good   a year ago take the ball away 13 picks 13 fumble  recoveries and now they've got a faint pulse yeah   they're only down 21 but they've got the ball in  the Red Zone that's the only way that Wisconsin   doesn't win this game is turning the ball over and  allowing Buffalo to get quick points Buffalo could   not score on the previous turnover thrown by morai  first down to 10 incomplete too low for herity to   handle I think that ball should be caught by but  it's it's not a good throw the one thing that I've   seen and the one flaw in Co Snider's game today  is when he rolls left he struggles he struggles   to throw accurately obviously rolling right he's  fine dropping back in the pocket he's fine even a   nice jump pass earlier in the game but rolling  left he's missed one time way behind and this   time low and outside do you self Scout would  he ever notice that or a coach tell him that   well I'm sure it's something he works on but  they are continuing to call Sprint out left cook patient down to the three yd  line it's going to bring up third down that play looked like it was bunched up at  the line but cook just took his time and waited   for a crease third down and two clearly  four down situation for the Buffalo Bulls only TouchDown for Buffalo coming back  in the first quarter on a toss to Cole   har this four down territory if  they don't get TouchDown here   har got it touchdown Buffalo oh nice  second of the ball game Schnider to her love that SLO with a little little  pick here a little pick here slow slow   slow and he goes outside on the slot fade  right very nice design and well executed a   perfect throw by Snider that's exactly where  you want to put that ball nice catch by Cole   her for his second touchdown of the day he's  got something inh herity man he's got Poise   in his route running he's one of those  very Shifty and capable guys inside the slot extra point sneaks through and it is a  14-point game cooh her we saw him earlier make   a great move to the corner but this time he just  runs the SLO fade he's super patient and then a   perfectly laid throw right to the corner of the  end zone I mean that's exactly how you draw it up all started because of the interception  thrown by Tanner Mory Shawn dock running it   back into the red zone so it's an 11pl drive  that takes 40 seconds off the clock and now   Buffalo Loken dream again we talked about  Wisconsin being able to run the clock out   right kind of milk some of that time off  the clock I'm I'm not 100% sure why they   were going to the air when they have these two  running backs that seemingly cannot be stopped   especially in the second half I would imagine  that in this next Drive they're going to go back   to the bread and butter which is brillan Allen  down hill and and chz maloi wherever he wants you can see Wisconsin's return team prepared  for surprise onside kick and then they'll back out oh little squip Y and it doesn't work they  were ready for it from the start Wisconsin very   well coached they fall on the football and they've  got wonderful starting field position Tyler janzy   know that's a haen Anderson on the H Team it's  a very nice job I mean you can see his eyes   are locked in on the football you do not leave  until you see the ball kicked he sees the ball   kicked and he attacks and gets the ball some guys  run away from the ball Anderson ran to the ball M now you got to take a chance if you're  Buffalo chance didn't work so the ball's   going to be at the 46 yd line for  Wisconsin mory's thrown a couple of   picks he's also thrown one touchdown  he's got bril and Allen next to him   tight end Hayden Ruchi Allen man he runs hard  tackle made by DOL but 20 yard down the field   man you got to remember at home as a 17-year-old  he rush for 12200 yard plus as an 18yearold he   rush for 12200 yard Plus at 19 right now he's  he's a teenager Steel in his third year college   football and looks like a man amongst boys every  single time he gets the chance to go down here   at these Buffalo Defenders there's a lot of 19y  olds who are playing their first year of college   football right now in a country some some 19y  are playing their senior year of high school football he's impressive he is an impressive  specimen impressive kid and and you know the   cool thing about him when the coaches were talking  about he they say he's a guy that just does it the   right way he's the example of how things can  be done he's the left tackle on the punt team   and they want to take him off but but he's just so  good at it they said we we have to keep him on the   on there because he protects so well Allen to the  edge brayan Allan touchdown [Applause] Wisconsin   slow start for PR and Allen but he's getting  his here in the second half yes he is and he   shows really really good patience here patience  jumps out and gets vertical I love it I love it   look at the sweet feet that's a big man moving not  quite the size of the bust Dr own Bettis but this   is a big dude and he's able to move his feet get  in and out of cuts and then has the speed to get   to the end zone they'll add it all up after that  slow first half and he's sitting on 142 yds 18   carries 142 this is really close to what Luke fipp  was hoping for so not bad at all for an opening   day for the Wisconsin Badgers they lead by [Music]  21 you got this buddy you got it during an asthma   attack every second feels like an eternity primate  tee Mist Works fast it's Madison Wisconsin it took   a while for the Wisconsin offense to get as hot  as the weather but they're there right now they   lead Buffalo 3817 after scoring just F 14 points  in the first half they've exploded in the second   half for 24 in large part because of brillan Allen  142 yards his 16th career 100 yard rushing game   that's the most among all active FBS Runners Eric  he's a teenager 19 years of age 19 years all the   way till the end of the season it'll be 19 yep all  the way he will not play a a second as a Wisconsin   Bader unless he comes back next year for for  fourth and Senior year fourth and final year   he won't play a second as a not teenager that's  crazy it is unbelievable well Luke fickle uh and   the new offensive coordinator Phil Longo both  saying that they'd like to get him 180 yards   per game but it wasn't just going to be rushing it  was also going to be receiving and they're really   close to that number Allen 142 rushing yards  uh with 27 receiving yards on seven catches   on seven targets he is had the big day that they  thought he could have in this new power Air Raid Offense and it doesn't help doesn't hurt the  fact that chz maloi 157 to kind of take a little   bit of the pressure off Jaz barkdale is in the  ball game as the tailb three yards on his first   touch of the football here 2023 quarterback is  still Cole Snider but just a change up in the   back [Music] field and making the catch paying  the price is booby Curry Jordan Turner a man on a   mission this afternoon knocks him down yeah that's  about as good as a combat catch that we've seen   man he he really gets dumped by Turner and still  holds on the ball it's just short of the first   down third and one this has been a Bugaboo for  Buffalo and previous play is under further review   for potential targeting oh my goodness H I hope  not he turn did he did strike him fairly violently   and ducked his head just a bit but it has to be  the very top the very crown of his helmet there   are a lot of different things that go into the  targeting penalty you can see him there attacking   oh no it's not head or neck area but it is the top  crown of his helmet so I would imagine that here   late in this game they're going to lose Turner  yeah and we grown about that because you just   hate to see a guy who spends 12 months of the  year getting ready for just going to be a 12   game season and then you run the risk of missing  not only the end of one game but then the half of   the next game we're going to bring in our rules  expert uh Dean blandino uh what are you thinking   about here Dean looking at this we do have a  defenseless player but that's not why replay   stopped it you can see Turner lower his head and  make forcible contact with the crown of the helmet   and that that applies to any opponent that's  the look right there and this part of the rule   is really to protect the player who's initiating  the contact from injury to me this looks like top   of the helmet initiating attacking with force  and I do see this as targeting yeah Dean I I   agree I agree I mean he it's tough though right  it's tough because he's played such a good game   and it's the end of the game the game seems to  be in hand and he's just playing hard trying   to make a play but he did Duck his helmet and  and Dean if I'm correct right they have that 6   inch rule they kind of cleared up the the the  rule and the call so that guys that are you   know not truly ducking their head won't get  thrown out of games right exactly right yeah   we we Define the crown the apex of the helmet  and a 6-in radius so really that was to prevent   having a head up and maybe just a slight dip but  this looked like top of the helmet Defender number   54 lowered his head and hit a defenseless receiver  with the crown of his helmet therefore personal   foul targeting number 54 Defense number 54 is  disqualified from the game 15yd penalty from the   end of the Run automatic first down Hey Dean just  to be clear even if a player is not defenseless   if you do look lower your head and strike with  Force that's still a targeting penalty no matter   where you hit him or if he's defenseless correct  still targeting there's two types there's the   defenseless player 914 rule 9 section one Article  4 and then there's the crown of the helmet which   is rule 9 section one article 3 which applies to  any player defenseless or not and that's really   what we had here was the crown of the helmet  version thanks Dean thank you Dean so a tough pill   to swallow for Jordan Turner for the Wisconsin  and their fans he'll have to miss this game in   the first half of the next game that they're going  to play which is next week at Washington State   a team that beat Wisconsin a year ago cool thing  today he does get to stay on the field it's a rule   they kind of changed a couple years ago where he  doesn't have to leave and go into the locker room   he does get to stay on the field but he's out for  this game and like you said the first half of the   next game so with the personal foul and the 15  yds ball is moved out to be   comfortable throwing the ball away  and living to fight for another day   offensive coordinator DJ Mangus for  the Buffalo Bulls his first season in   Buffalo last year's actually def they know how to wrestle in   the state of Ohio they're in the same formation  they were to use Luke fle started 50 consecutive   games at Ohio State 50 not 15 50 5-0 while  playing nose guard that's vickle is his   competitive fire remember we asked him about  the the wrestling and how he was so good he's   like yeah I lost three times my freshman year and  I'm like yeah you probably remember all three of   him and then he like sped out the name let's see  if I can get Kevin rean rean or randomman Kevin   randomman from Sandusky played at OSU and and  when I tell you the fire in his eyes he wants   to wrestle him right now oh he wanted to be an  Olympian yeah he wanted to be an Olympic wrestler   he thought that there was a real possibility it  was he was unbelievable champion at Ohio SP times   three straight years of not losing and winning  state championships but he definitely wants   that one back he actually wrestled in college he  wrestled his freshman year at Ohio State he was   a two- sport guy at Ohio State so move over Deion  Sanders Luke fickles coming after you football and wrestling okay so this is Wisconsin football they  are able to run the football and the clock when   it matters most in the second half when things  were in doubt they put the ground ball on the   ground and they ran the football they got first  downs and now trying to run out the game clock   they do what they've always done ever since Barry  Alvarez took over they win the game by controlling   the line of scrimmage and running the football  so more of the same even with his air raid name   on it for the Wisconsin baters absolutely they  found a way to get their running backs going and   started with maloi who was super explosive in  his ability to shift and move and and hit the   hole and then brayan Alli came brilin Allen  came in with the power and he hammered the   Buffalo Bulls defensive tackers maloi and Allen  both run for over 100 yards and the Badgers have   now
