the heat of the desert is where the Sun Devils Thrive welcome to Tempe Arizona Mountain America Stadium home to the Arizona State sundevils and the rich Legacy formed by the likes of Frank Kush Jake The Snake and Pat Tillman there's just something about the night cap after a day of wall toall football it just seems this is when chaos ensues as we'll see a squad from the secc the Mississippi State Bulldogs taking on a team from the Big 12 the Arizona State sundevils for EA Sports college football ree Davis with you alongside David Pollock and Jesse Palmer time to get this game started Mississippi State about to boot it away as we start the festivities on the run from inside of zone five didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 the sundevils offense will take the first swing of the game and all eyes will be on this man because he is electrifying every time he touches the ball I mean so much fun to watch watch can hit home runs can make big plays everything in this offense starts with that grown man what I really like about him too is he's versatile right he can carry The Rock he can catch the football he's good at blocking this guy stays on the field for a reason really good job to pick up a chunk of yardage and get it out to the 39 yd line first trying to find his man on first down firing to the right complete and they pick up just a few on that completion here comes the offense on second down he's looking to throw quickly out to the tight end and just a short safe pass play they pick up a few third and long from the 42 if they can get some of it it might give them a chance to go for it on fourth down what a snag by the defense never had a chance to get rolling after the pick but he gives him the ball in Prime field position at the 40 well we knew coming into this one this was an offense that wanted to come out sling it around but the timing is going to have to be a whole lot better this defense has athletes who can close on the ball and make plays and you saw it right there on that interception to open this game on first down here comes this offense wasting no time throwing on this drive got him downfield oh and the defense in Chase mode and they finally get him down at the 35 you get that turnover and you try to punch them hard immediately on the first play and they come up with a big game and when the defense is running on the field you are thinking Sudden Change Sudden Change when they create a turnover a lot of times offenses want to be aggressive they were and they get rewards now they'll run it to the right here Bulls his way forward just inside the 25 will mark it at the 24 pick up of 10 and a first down to the air it's shaen bakes the grab on the left they make the stop trying to pick up just a little bit at a time to get to that first down Mark he'll keep it himself able to pick his way forward for a decent game before the defense gets him down Mississippi State right back to the [Applause] line fast motion from the offense quarterback Quick Pass to the receiver and boy is he close to that first down maybe just a couple of inches short they just need a few more inches here on fourth down and they'll try to get it with the offense try to get it on the ground and the the Bulldogs brought to the ground but not before picking up the first here's this offense with a fresh set of downs Red Pass it's complete they'll get it down to the 8 yd line on that throwing and catch and the defense is backed up against the [Applause] wall quarterback on the keeper and he'll finish the run in the end zone touchdown B B it's what makes this offense so hard to stop when you've got an athletic quarterback you got to worry about him in the running game and there on the option he makes the right decision keeping it and he caps off the opening drive of the game with a TD lining up to tack one more onto that lead and he's got the extra point and it's 7 nothing to start this one that touchdown Drive covered 61 yds and it was capped off with the 8yd Run he'll bring it back from inside the SP and The Return Man reaches the end of the line and down he goes Arizona state has the ball back and the offense making its way onto the field they'll run it from the gun not much there they'll give him one to the 14 didn't get much on first down it's second and [Applause] nine he's got it again and it will be a pick up of nine they're facing a third and one trying to pick up a first down whoops someone moved a little bit early offense going to pick up a 5yd penalty F start the officials offer the deal and the coach accepts it they will take the penalty on third down he'll try to pick it up through the air oh they really could have used that catch there physical pass defense it brings up a fourth down and the sundevils will try to pin them back with the punt let's see if he can help the coverage team out with this one he'll settle for some pretty good field position and make the fair catch at around the 35 line gets set first down ped and fired complete finally run out of bounds but he has this offense rolling with a first down the Bulldog are in the hurry [Applause] up coming out on first down with the play fake nowhere to go and the ball is loose defense just cradling that fumble and securing it and he's brought down and this defense gets the ball back forito and the quarterback just ran out of time there and they were able to knock it free quarterbacks have got to do a great job keeping two hands on football especially in passing situations like that because you know Defenders are swatting at the ball even if you can't see them These Guys these 65 66 they've got long arms they're trying to rip and tug away and get that ball out of your hands that QB will learn from this play he's got to do a better job at this F the they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one didn't get much done on that first first play of the drive it's second and 11 looking for space it's scbo he picks up four that'll lead them with third and six trying to pick up a first down on third down he drops to throw fires to the big fella they'll pick up enough yardage for the first down they've got it at the 30 the sundevils come to the line with a new set of downs [Applause] finds his big tight end is that stiff arm even a human arm it it looks like some type of Steel budgeting device on his way to a first down I don't know who on defense is going to cover this guy honestly he could be a problem for this defense over the middle of the field in the passing game and the sundevil are moving quickly down the field looking to throw he's got it they will score touchdown sundevil I know this offense had some question marks coming into the year with respect to who' be catching touchdowns in the offense I think they may have found their guy this guy had a TD in their first game he has another one here right now he has been a matchup problem for opposing defenses [Music] ling up to add another ex hit that one with some aggression for the point after we check in with Kevin Connors what's going on Kevin two very different emotions inside the locker rooms of these teams who did battle today Auburn had an impressive showing there on the planes winning this one by double digits although it felt like it could have been more somewhere even B Jack is impressed with this one trying to move them on the counter a lot to go through in the film session this week for both teams but boy it sure is going to be easier for the side that came away with the win Kevin thanks a lot for that one sounds as if they had a good one there pulls and throws off the RPO makes the stop at the 30 but a big 15 y pickup gets him out of trouble and a big key on that throw to the slot receiver guys is putting the ball out in front the location of the throw is what helped that guy get extra yards after the catch and he's knocked down immediately but a good pick up on that play and the Bulldogs in the hurry up now a couple of times historically that the SEC has reached into the Big 12 during an expansion era and the Big 12 would love to land a blow on the field here in this one and I think there probably is some of that with the big 12 a lot of these teams they used to be in our conference and you've kind of ruined what we had built so we got a chance now to to make a dent in this to to show you like we're not just your like little recruiting system and little farm team Jesse oh picked off taking it the other way and a big return after the int sets up the offense for this possession timing has to be so good you're throwing at his own defense over the middle of the field the ball's got to come out specifically on time cuz these windows close really quickly ball there thrown a little bit late as a result it's an INT Arizona state is going back on offense and they come out looking for a spark how big is this drive scored a touchdown the last time they had it defense gets to stop and now it's up to them in a tie game all right so if you're the offensive coordinator here let's dial it in who are your best matchups and best Playmakers to take advantage of this golden opportunity yeah and I'm interested to see this defense too like the momentum is clearly not in your favor how do you get it back how do you make a big play do you be more aggressive here to try to get the football back to your offense after the misconnection it's second down they go to the ground not a lot there picks up one inside the 20 to the 19 third down conversions are a huge stat and this one would be a doozy if they can pull it off it's a draw and he was fortunate not to lose yardage on that play able to wedge it back to the line of scrimmage and they'll send out the field goal [Applause] unit it's good he could have hit a string right in the middle of the upright there and with that field goal they now have the lead [Music] [Music] so they're lining up to kick it off after that last Drive put a three spot on the board and now the defense will try to shut him down and he takes this from inside the five he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 the Mississippi State offense headed back to the field to go to [Applause] work he'll do it himself self gets it past to marker he's brought down but there's a flag on the field let's see what the call is [Applause] holding they say you could call holding on every play well they did on that one leaves it with the back HS his way ahead for three out to the 14 now on second [Applause] down from the gun the ground game solid gain to get him out close to the 20 pick up a five to the 19 Mississippi State Going Up Tempo dropping back it's shapen they're trying to get to it and the quarterback goes down at the 11 yd line and listen the quarterback drops back and he's going through his progressions we see Zone but just couldn't do anything about it this defensive line this pressure getting to the quarterback getting him on the ground Mississippi state will roll out the punt unit three and out they got stuck in Reverse they hope the punt can bail them out oh he gave him the limp leg he'll get it up to about the 4 4 yd line before they slam the brakes on it and they'll get off one more play before the end of the quarter on the run it's scbo and that's the end of the line on that frun and it's the end of the line for the first quarter that's the end of the quarter and Arizona state has the lead guys let's have a look at the stats as we played one [Music] period now to see if these guys can get back in the game in the second quarter he's looking to throw unloads to the wide out just masterful working that sideline and getting the toe down for the catch it's first and 10 from the 38 yd line first got it in the middle it's mlan put it right on him sweet play good pick up and they'll move the change with the first down the Sun Devils coming into the line with a fresh set of downs out of the gun the inside g discards a man this running back just doesn't go down easily it's just difficult for defenses to get him on the ground not overly huge but if I'm an offensive coordinator I'm going to continue to find ways to feature him and it's caught touchdown Arizona State well he's a matchup nightmare because of his size and his speed it's so difficult for defenses defend this guy nice job there working the post route really accurate throw and it ends up being a touchdown on to attempt the try the kick is up and good and put one more on the lead about to kick it away after scoring the touchdown Mississippi he'll start return inside his spot really disciplined job by the coverage unit to get down there and make the stop at the 19 here comes the Mississippi State offense ready to attack HS and fires complete I like this tight end he does a really nice job on this route run he's been beating man coverage he can find the soft spots in the zones got to get him involved the give on the inside on the move it's a 30 and a really nice run and pick up there before the defense avoided disaster and stop the really big play might as well run him until they stop him he's got it again pretty good effort on that one to work his way up to the 42 [Applause] motion by the back forces the defense to adjust grabbed in the back field it's Boo and that defense is there to guide him out of bounds out for a short gain Mississippi State right back to the line they'll try to bully their way for the first they get him on the ground but not before he gets enough for the first down just nosing in enemy territory at the 49 it's first and 10 they'll give it to him again able to scr three yards out of that one somehow it's second and seven went with the running game on first down now back at it touch pass on the r hard running there one step WRA Two Step squeeze this junior knows how to get him on the ground the marker rest at the 39 and that's what they need here on third down dropping back it's shapen gets it out quickly and he was knocked down immediately short of the line to game they'll have to make a decision here so Mississippi state will have to punt this one away and he tried to pin him deep with that punt instead it goes into the end zone it'll come out to the 20 Arizona state has the ball back and the offense making its way onto the field he's brought down but there's a flag on the play let's see if it stands holding [Applause] off holding penalties the ultimate Drive killer we'll see if it cost this offense here one running back in the back field and he has it smashes through they make the stop but not before he takes a chunk out of what they need to move the sticks on second down he'll let it fly got his man quickly brought down to the ground but he has enough for the first down and they'll line up from the 31 on first down now used the play fake now to throw fires to the right I don't think that's the way they drew it up incomplete offense gets set for second down the give from the gun finding a way to put that foot in the ground and get it up to the 37 yd line offense breaks the Huddle it's third down they'll try to get it through the air caught over the middle it's mlan coming through that third down conversion and they'll mark it at the [Applause] 43 comes out throwing on first down finds his man down the middle and good coverage by the defense just a short game it's now second down after the short completion from the shotgun the inside G breaks the tackle stopping the run is about physicality it's about I'm bigger than you I'm stronger than you up front really nice job by the defense showing their strength bowing up stuffing the Run finds a man on the right and they exploited that soft spot they get it down to the 35 and the sundevils want to pick up the tempo stop me when you've heard this before first down first down first down just continuing to put first downs together so far this defense just can't find any answers line getting set on second down he'll try to pop the draw they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one and they've converted their first two third down opportunities but a third and long it's a different animal grabbed behind the line it's mlan and sure tackling there to keep him from getting to the first down down marker and they'll send the field goal team back out for the second time tonight oh that one will leave a mark no good guys a double digit lead is good but more would have been better Mississippi State here comes the Bulldog offense back onto the field they couldn't find the uprights on that 51 yd field goal attempt so they'll give up the football it'll be first and 10 from the 34 he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple after getting knocked back to open this drive it's second and [Applause] 12 he'll pull it on the re they bring him down but a solid pick up to put them in position to pick up a first down looking to push the pace with the no huddle looking to pass it's shapen can't make the connection on third down thanks to that tough hard noosed pass defense and now it's fourth down no no return coming he'll call for the fair catch the offense lining up for a first down play wide receiver shows motion they'll crank up this drive with the pass oh what a grab by the defense trying to take it back and he has taken it all the way back touchdown Bulldogs Mississippi State I love this free safety and how he plays center field and of times he's able to bait QBs into bad decisions he did it right there made the quarterback think he was dropping one way put his foot in the ground got in front of that pass and then showed you the wheels returning it for a [Applause] touchdown getting set for the point after ex point and with the extra point every little bit counts as they get closer and let's check in with Kevin Conor's in the studio Kevin all right guys want to update you on a game that went final moments ago pan State delivered The Knockout blow and I think the defense might have been the story here LaVar Arrington Shane conin Jack ham there's another stun there at linebacker U 60 Minutes of football and a convincing outcome and certainly a game with implications far beyond just the standings fellas yeah how about that sounds as if they had a good ball game there Kevin thanks for the update looking for room it's scattero he's brought down but there's a flag on the field let's see which way that's going to go [Applause] holding just an obvious holding call there and one that just kills an off def is momentum quarterback wants to throw on second down it's complete to the left and he'll run across the sidelines after the good gain timeout call by the defense it's their first of the half as they'll make some adjustments now facing a third and long from the gun wants to pass and that's incompleted defense Defender all over him knocked the ball to the ground fourth down coming up the sundevils will bring the punt team onto the field this will be the second time they've had to kick it away waves the arm for the fair Catch and the catch is made close to the 30 yd line the Mississippi State offense headed back to the field to go to work they've had to punt the last couple of times they've had it David now trying to put something together mace you know how much I love punters and kickers like you don't want to see them very often those are not guys that we want to see on the field we want to do something else and be a little bit more productive offensively here I think David on this drive the quarterback's just got to settle down a little bit these last few drives looks like he's seen ghost we've seen him Force the football he's missed a couple throws he needs to just take a deep breath and play Within himself trying to move the sticks on third down through the air all kinds of room to throw that one in there they make the stop but not before they do their work up and pick up a first down and first the they want to just keep throwing it complete to the left and the catch and run into the end zone touchdown Mississippi State and I just love the execution by this offense late in the half man you want to take the lead you want to get that momentum on your side and they do it they finish it with the passing game and I tell you what heat that passing game up you can keep this lead keep the momentum and keep putting up numbers ready to try the point after for the exra point and the extra point is good and it's a four-point lead personal foul roughing the kicker [Applause] defense so the decision has been made and the coach will take the penalty they're lining up to kick it off and he ought to be able to knock this one anywhere he wants after that extra 15 yds with the roughing the kicker offense getting set for first down looking to move it through the air finds the tight end and he'll step across the sidelines after making a good gain on that one ball is at the 35 it's first and 10 and he to throw and it's picked off again his night vision hasn't been on par and the senior just took that one out of the air and sends it the other way I love when people start to understand what we're doing defensively if they're going to pass the football and that's that where they're going to live well I'm going to live in dime I'm going to bring more defensive backs on the field so I can cover more of these speed guys that they have out there great job by the defensive back breaking on the football making the int making the DC look very smart looking to throw it's shapen oh he had him right down the middle and it just squirted right through his fingers and they missed an opportunity for a nice play on first down right back up top on second and 10 can't find a man and he'll be knock down at the 40 all right well V QB knows he now has to get the ball out of his hands quick because that defensive end turned the corner [Music] fast I'm not positive but that first down marker might be in the next County on Third and long he'll need to loosen up that arm wide open downfield TouchDown Mississippi State and they take it in for 64 points number and just a really nice throw really good touch towards the sideline on that corner route and the receiver does a nice job catching the football and immediately getting up the field getting in the end zone for the big touchdown they'll try to add another to their lead and the extra point will tack another one on to this lead quick strike offense on that three playay scoring drive and the score comes on a pass from 40 yds out here he comes from inside his own five didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 Arizona state is going back on offense and they come out looking for a spark he wants to start this drive with a pass finds his tight end a timeout is called as this off def tries to find a way to get more points on the board before the half time off play action going deep and the incomplete pass taking a shot on second down and they'll be left with a third down from the gun wants to pass he finds his man there's a Timeout on the field tight game here late in the first half and the sundevils getting set on First and 10 he's looking to throw it the short hands it's scbo he's run out of bounds but not before turning in a big pick up and moving the six for a first down he's going to pass it's complete he's brought down solid pick up but a little bit short of the first down the offense Burns its third and final timeout of the half dialing up a second down pass play grabbed in the middle it's scattero he knew exactly where he wanted to go with that one and they've got enough for the first down and that's a first down looking to move it through the air throws to the tight end complete to the right just making a play getting it to the 23 yd line it'll be first down he wants to throw couldn't find anybody to throw to he'll just toss it away it'll be second down and here on second down they'll send out the field goal unit to try to get three before the break and it's right down the [Applause] boulevard mississipp [Music] [Music] that late in the half field goal always gives you a little boost going to the locker room and they'll need to finish off these final few seconds and not allow them to answer from inside the 10 here he comes and good work by the coverage team to get the Return Man Down On The Ground first half in the books time now to join Kevin Connors in our halftime update thanks guys looks like we've got a terrific atmosphere there in Tempe toughest job inside that Stadium right now might just be the scoreboard operator after all those first downs and touchdowns big plays have defined this one thanks to two of the best receiving core in all of college football let's see if these defenses can adjust and make the necessary chess moves and with that let's send it back to Frank Kush field inside mountainer America Stadium the sundevils will boot it away to start the second [Applause] half on the move from inside is five the reserve is here comes the Mississippi State offense ready to attack they go to work in the third quarter with the lead but they have had a little trouble keeping their quarterback upright yeah and you you have the lead you're positive but the offensive line coach is definitely going to be upset and the off listen I don't want my guy getting touched he's being productive but give him some more time here in the second half I think you can do that too offensively by maybe leaving your tight end in to help block maybe chipping with running backs to help these tackles out on the edge because you're right that pocket has been shaky if it continues to be that way in the second half this could be a much different looking football now on the option he gets it oh so close to the first down marker but I I think he's going to be a touch short Mississippi state will roll out the punt unit looking for a block it's brown this guy is a daring P Return Man he's not going to settle for the fair catch a solid return gets a little bit of ground for the offense on the Move really nice stop there from this senior leader and the sundevils want to move quickly 39 brings up second down he's looking for a man on second down pulls it in it's Smith excellent job working through the air there finding a hole in that defense and picking up a first down no huddle here for the offense nice job by the receiver there running the drag route against Zone coverage finding the soft spot making it easy on his quarterback to get the completion he turns it up field and he moves the sticks after the three- yd pickup they come to the line Second and seven he's looking to throw fires to the tight end he's there to make the stop but the damage has been done as they pick up the first down on the throwing catch really good job working through his progression you get it to him quickly and the big tight end has a chance to run a little and a really good job by the QB throwing an accurate thr I got to hit those guys on the Move On The Run so they can do this they can catch the football get up field and chew up some extra yards snagged in the middle it's scattero the ball's free well the offense looks as if they fell on the fumble and they'll keep the ball wants to throw on third for the fourth time tonight it's an interception they didn't give him much of a chance to make that play even bigger but the turnover has set up at the 16 tell you what defensive players don't always see where the ball is they see the receiver and they get to chase him but really good job seeing where the receiver is going and making an interception making a big play getting the ball back to your offense here comes the Bulldog offense back onto the field they missed an opportunity to extend this lead the last time they had it Jesse yeah they got to be able to regain that momentum right go back to what was working earlier on in this one David to me that starts with being the more physical team I definitely agree being the more physical team but understanding the situation of the game you're still winning you got the football back now put a nice drive together and execute pushes ahead for two they'll mark it at the 17 if they can convert here that type of play can really give you a shot of momentum looking to throw it's shapen and they can't make the play on third down so Mississippi state will have to punt this one away and may have to pay him overtime he's punting for the fifth time today slips through the line the solid return there offsets some of the punt yardage and really sets up this offense nicely Arizona state has the ball back and the offense making its way onto the field hands it off at the 35 he's loose off he goes and he's sprinting he'll take it all the way touchdown sundevil and to have a rushing touchdown of that type of yardage you've got to be able to make something Miss it's one thing to get into the second level but can you make that last Defender Miss and you saw it on that play once he was in the clear with his speed he was gone they got the touchdown but now they want the two to tie this baby up from the and he was drilled just as he released the pass it's incomplete about to kick it off after punching it in for the touchdown mississipp on the run from inside his own five he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 the Mississippi State offense headed back to the field to go to work here's another opportunity Jesse to stretch out this lead after punting last time I think it goes back to and that defense gets to him and down he goes at the nine nice sack by the defense great job getting to him getting him on the ground that's the fourth sack of the day this defense have had some bright moments they've also given up some big plays keep rushing the quarterback but keep that coverage intact in the back [Music] end they're trying to dig out of the hole on second and long from the nine once to throw it's shapen throws to the wide out he's got it snowed under by the defense Mississippi State Going Up Tempo off the play fate and the heat will get home and the quarterback goes down at the 17 on the I'm the offensive coordinator I'm thinking about shipping this defensive end with running backs I'm leaving my tight ends in to help this tackle because we cannot block him he's already got two sacks Mississippi state will roll out the punt unit and these guys have been busy sixth pun of the day on the move it's brown he's got great speed that Nifty return sets up the offense and negates some of the yardage on the punt [Applause] hand off from the gun a most efficient pick up of six on first down it's second and four from the gun running back on the Move smashes through the tackle and it is a chunk play a huge gain on that one before the defense brings it to an end defensively you'll take the slow de you'll take three four five yards a pop but you can't give up the massive plays you got to do a better job containing the football making them run the guys and get him on the ground for goodness sakes this guy is fast I know but defensively we got to swarm to the football and get him on the ground to the ground with the back here on third down you might want to protect the field goal but you have to stay aggressive from the gun wants to pass and a missed opportunity on third down as the defense knocks it free and fourth down is coming up and the field goal unit is on the field he got it and now they take the lead and for a quick update let's go to Kevin Connor's in the studio fellas I think at least a portion of your audience will have an interest in the one that just finished off Duke came in and applied their own mute button on this crowd they silenced one of the most vocal HomeField advantages in football and it's clear this Blue Devils team has adopted the Mantra let your play do the talking the circle of life in college football where one team moves on feeling like kings and the other heads home licking its wounds and Kevin Conor is keeping an eye on everything all over the country sounds like they had a good one there RPO complete to open the Drive I think this receiver's Forte is his route running he's a guy that can line up all over the field but it's not just catching post routes and goes this guy can run shallows he can run Slants he can run the option routes and find soft spots in the defense this guy really has all the routes his two out of the gun the inside hand off looking for a crease tough hard no run picks up three but stopped just short it'll be fourth and one on the return it's brown he only needs a sliver of daylight what a play on that return but will it stand there is a peny mark on the field defense the officials offer the deal and the coach accepts it they will take the penalty and off from the shotgun shakes off a tackle just a solid stop by this sophomore the Bulldogs moving quickly to the [Applause] line and he was hit just as he released it and it falls to the turf they've got the ball at Midfield but they're facing a third and long back to throw it's shaping they've got the screen set up not a whole lot of room there on that screen passes it just never develop so Mississippi state will have to punt this one away he won't be able to return this one as it goes out of bounds Arizona state is going back on offense and they come out looking for a spark they've got the lead here last time they settled for a field goal but David got to find that balance between being aggressive and careful and I think they'll take that I got the lead Palmer I got the football I got to take care of the football put a nice drive together and just get some kind of points on this drive no doubt lots to be happy about right now for this team I think for this one though on this drive it's about finding the one-on-one matchups that are in your favor and then exploiting on Third and long he has to throw for it pass is incomplete but a lot of contact there I think it's going to be pass interference and a first down and the defender just way too handsy on that last play you could see all the contact as the ball was in the air you simply can't do it and the referee's caught fires to the wide out it's complete and perhaps a touchdown saving tackle as it gets him down at the 37 and I love the awareness by the wide receiver on that play because I'm not sure that route was supposed to be that deep you got to wonder if the receiver decided Maybe maybe to adjust the route a little bit to make sure that he got the first down and he will finally go out of bounds after another big gain and they are absolutely gashing them with this running game and another quick completion on the out route and not much doing there as that defense runs him out of [Applause] bounds using his legs to scatter relying on that running game inside the Red Zone he picked up three to the 11 boy they'd love to pick up this conversion and go to work with a first and goal now they'll run the draw into the spin cycle and forward he Powers his way ahead gets three but they're still looking at Fourth and two so here comes the field goal unit again this kicker has already made three in this one splits the uprights right down the middle Arizona St Mississippi State [Music] 28 so after putting three on the board the kickoff team is out there ready to boot it away he'll bring it back from inside his spot really disciplined job by the coverage unit to get down there and make the stop at the 19 here comes the Mississippi State offense ready to attack wide receiver now comes in motion quarterback touch pass on the Jet Sweep and maybe he'll get back to the line of scrimmage but no more than that Mississippi State right back to the [Applause] line trying play action looking to the big tight end oh so close of paying off the tip drill he had it in his hands but it falls incomplete looking downfield it's shapen trying to get to him and it's incomplete it was wild high and wide on that one Mississippi state will roll out the punt unit here's the fair catch but there is a flag on the field we might have to do this one again the kicker defense so the decision has been made and the coach will take the penalty so the offense keep this drive alive thanks to the roughing the punter penalty out of the shotgun they go to the ground small game I know but again the defense knows he's going to run the football he's willing to run the football not just drop back and pass make him honor the Run game you got to do a lot of this and they'll stop him after three minimal pickup as they get set to snap at time winding down here in the quarter this quarterback part of their running game they get him down and that'll be the final play of the third period and talk about spreading the ball around everyone getting a chance to show off the hands based on the number of targets we've seen not only is the scoreboard on their side but so too is time as we open the forth he leaves it with his back not a whole lot of room there three yds maybe second and seven they get to the line quickly up out of the gun the give to the back still running at the 40 he will step out of bounds but not before the big pick up and a first down for this offense those outside runs if they can get the edge like they do great job by the Right Guard right tackle getting the edge and now what does this do this makes cornerbacks come up and Tackle safeties come up in tackle as opposed to linebackers and big defensive players you get your guy out in space where he can use his speed and his physicality against guys that usually cover and don't come up and make tackles motion from the offense quick touch pass to the receiver smashes ahead gets out of bounds after the big play and they'll be set up in business with a first and goal and bounces it outside it's Davis and a really short game before he gets a whole bunch of company from the defense trying to punch it in nowhere to run on that one he loses four on the carry a huge chance for points here on Third and goal and if they can get it in we might have ourselves a finish can't make the grab as he was looking for his man right at the goal line trailing and getting deep in the game they'll go for it here on Fourth and goal touch down bog they've got the lead here in the fourth Mississippi and these guys make it look so easy but these are tight windows down here man there's not a lot of space on the field and he drops back knows exactly where he's going with the football throws it in there makes the play and more importantly now his team is in the lead in the fourth quarter this one's big to make sure they can't beat you with a field goal and it's good and he's got the lead up to three late that is what they mean when they say ball control a 14pl touchdown drive and they cap the drive with a four yd touchdown pass and he takes this from inside the five nice job by the kickoff team everybody stayed in their lanes and they'll stop him at the 16 Arizona state has the ball back and the offense making its way onto the field and that is his fifth interception if he comes out to try for six he'll be lucky and they'll drag him down after a good return on the interception tell you what when you come out of your own End Zone you know you shadow of your own End Zone a lot of bad things can happen you want to got to get a few first downs get some space so if you punt after that point you can pin them a little bit deep this is the exact opposite of what happened now you set them up in beautiful scoring field position already really bad play by the offense the offense set for a first down play they'll start this drive with a pass he's got it on the Move That completion will take them inside the 10 to the 9 yd line they'll run it from the gun strikes to blow they make the tackle just outside the end zone but it'll be first and goal from the one mississipp they're going to run it and he takes it in for the score touchdown Bulldog mississipp offense gets the job done again you want to build that cushion as we get deeper into the second half man it makes it easy doesn't it you start getting up by a couple possessions making the offense very predictable on the other side great job by the offense extending their lead they'll try to attack one more on their [Applause] score and the extra point extends the lead to double figures at 10 quick strike offense on that three playay scoring drive and they capped it off with a one yd punch the returner will field it and bring it back nice job by the kickoff team everybody stayed in their lanes and they'll stop him at the 16 Arizona state is going back on offense and they come out looking for a spark they needed to find enough space and get it moving forward and they're up to the 22 they can really be aggressive after that last play it's second and three catch in the middle it's scattero and the completion gives him a fresh set of downs and keeps this drive moving they'll snap this one from the 32 it's first down first here's a quick throw out to the left makes the catch and he's brought down after the run second and medium he's looking to throw got rid of it quickly but it's incomplete we'll see if they go back to the air after the incompletion it's third and five looking to throw it again the tight end finds a soft spot third down slammed to the ground but not before he gets the first down you can tell this quarterback did his homework coming into this game he has been dissecting this defense with his arm and his mind over 300 yd passing game he stopped just a chain link or two away from the first down and sets them up beautifully here on second down he'll fire caught close to the marker it's scbo he stopped quickly but not before he has enough for the first down the sundevils come to the line with a new set of downs making sure they have good balance keeping it on the ground it's just simple simple first down run showing your physicality setting your offense up in a good spot wants to throw on second down working the middle of the field and it's complete they get him on the ground but it's a first down ball marked at the 26 it's first and 10 [Applause] the give to the single back and he's able to shed one tackle and pick up pretty good yardage good spot after that seven yd pickup on first down it's second and three trying the run it's scbo he is going nowhere stop at the line of scrimmage a manageable distance on third down as they try to convert from the [Applause] 20 drag down to the turf but not before getting the first down long drive continues as the offense keeps working the ball down the field leaves it with the running back they'll give him four yds on the carry it's down at the 8 yd line going to work on second down in the red zone is still some ground to cover to pick up that first down he's looking to throw and he was shooting for the End Zone there and they couldn't make the completion boy they' love to move this sticks here and take a shot at it on first and goal third and long and he'll try to throw for it and it's incomplete he was looking to the end zone and trying to get six so on fourth down here comes the field goal kicker in a huge spot it's [Applause] good St [Music] [Music] they were able to get a field goal on board and now they'll kick it away from inside the 10 yd line he'll bring it back able to find enough room to get it out across the 25 he's brought down at the 26 here comes the Bulldog offense back on to the field they'll run it trying to drain time off the clock that's about as close as you can get to that marker and it will be second and just a few breaths away from the first down and I think if you're the head coach defensively now obviously you've got three timeouts in your back pocket you're trailing at this point and the offense is going to be running the football trying to bleed the clock they're going to take as much time off the game clock as they can before snapping it you've got to start thinking about using some of those timeouts out of the gun the running back has it they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one Mississippi State Going Up Tempo [Applause] we have arrived at the two-minute warning a onep possession game as this offense tries to hold on they'll stick to the ground looking for the marker he'll have enough to give Mississippi State a first down timeout called there by the defense desperate to get the ball back and save as much time as possible they'll give it to the back and the defense holds firm no pick up at all on that play they'll use a timeout here you have to be certain at this point in the game out of the gun the inside hand off to the running back they can rely on this guy to pick up solid yardage when they needed and he's out to the 43 time out is called and it's the defense wanting to make sure that everyone's on the same page for this big down the pitch and the fourth option there is to throw it in reverse and that's what happened on that one so Mississippi state will have to punt this one away looking for a block it's brown and they'll get him down after the return at the 27 yd line Arizona state has the ball back and the offense making its way onto the field there's plenty of time to work with here but they have to be highly efficient in their attack Jesse so it comes down to the quarterback position too because don't let the moment get too big play within yourself David because this guy's practiced the situation before no doubt use the sidelines they're your friend I don't have to take and he can't get it all taken down what a huge play this late in the game he spikes it clock stops as they try to rally late got to get everybody lined up quickly time winding away and they've got to push the ball down the field on Third and long doesn't need to take the check down and the pressure will get there the sack down he goes in the waiting moments that could be a costly play fourth down got to have it here he's taking a deep shot it's incomplete and they desperately needed to keep that drive going and they couldn't make the connection quarterback's just going to take a knee well after backto back losses this team is really teetering on the edge of disaster they got to try to hold on to the positives as hard as that is to do right now having lost a couple back to back because this team has good players and they've got good schemes on both sides of the ball just things have not gone their way they just need to make a few more plays to turn this thing yeah and and they can do it and they will do it listen you get you got to get the players right you got to get those guys in there believing um this is part of what happens you got to take a few LS sometimes take those losses but this team's going to figure it out you can tell they got the
