Hey, there coach have been Chris Thomason joined by Rata Kauer Seahawks coach Adrian Amaya, first off coach. Thanks for joining us. I appreciate it, sir. Thanks for having me. Yes, sir. All right. Well, we are just, but now I guess for you guys less than a week away, uh, from kickoff. Now, give me a sense of how it's been going, you know, this off season and the first few weeks in camp it's been good. Um, we got some hungry kids. We're real young. Um, we got about 23 kids and 11 freshmen. So we start, we start five freshmen on, on offense and defense. So we're pretty young, but we, we're hungry for success. So we're gonna keep on coming and keep on working and we're gonna see what we can do throughout the season. Yeah, because the guys were so young, you know, what did you see out of them and the scrimmages that you liked and then what were some things you still want to see them, uh, get polished off on, you know, in the scrimmage? I mean, we, we play with a lot of heart. We, we, um, came out, we had some success running the ball a little bit. Um We still gotta work on alignment assignment and things like that, but I mean, I know that's gonna come in the future. Now, the guys you do have back, you know, what are, what are some areas that you do have some experience in? So our quarterback is one of our few seniors. Um we, we have three seniors on the team, our quarterback Aden Lomas, um, he's been four year letter, so he, he has the experience, he could throw the ball around a little bit. He runs really well. And in our backfield, um, we have two running backs that are both juniors that, that have, um, have their playing experience already and, and they can run pretty well. They can find the holes. We got one that's pretty powerful and J Gutierrez and then we have a speed, sir and Liam in the ho so that can, that can, that can run pretty well. Now, obviously, you know, defense was kind of an issue last year as well. So what are some areas that you wanted to see those guys improve on there? Yeah, so in, in a small school, like ours, our, our running backs are, are they flip right around and they are linebackers too? So that's gonna be our strength as well. Um, we start three freshmen on the, on the defensive line. So, so that's going to be someplace that we're gonna have to keep getting better at, throughout the year. But these guys give us a good chance. Um, they got some, they're, they're not the biggest but they're pretty quick and they, and their toughest can be. Yeah. So, going back a little bit, you know, there was a four year stretch in the mid 2000 tens where, you know, this program was having a winning record every season. So, what's it gonna take to kinda get back to that consistency that you guys want to see down there? Well, I think a lot of it is strength in numbers, you know, we were playing against teams with, with 50 guys and, and we're coming in with 2021 and, and that's, that's recruiting from, from cross country and band and all that stuff. So we're gonna try to get as many kids as possible and, and try to keep them here in Nevada, you know, give them the best playing experience they can so they can want to be a Seahawk. Yeah. And I guess it's tough too, you know, obviously redistricting didn't do you guys any favors, you know, you got, you know, like Aurio coming in where it seems like the entire high school plays football. Right. Yeah, exactly. Uh, you know, what are you, what are your thoughts on the, the district, you know, with, with those guys coming in? You know, we're just gonna have to take it game by game. I mean, it's it's really gonna come down to play by play. We're gonna give it our best shot. We're gonna see what we can do. We're gonna try to compete and keep it manageable if we can, uh, run the ball. Well, you know, keep the clock running, keep them from having the ball. I think, I think we can do what we have to do. And I imagine, you know, you probably just want to see progress in the non district, right? Like, kind of get that ball rolling, so to speak. Heading into district. Yes, sir. So in the past three years that I've been here, we've won one game, um, each year. So we're looking to improve on that and with a young group that, that'll get us motivated for, just keep on getting better each and every year. All right. Well, you host, uh, Aransas Pass on Thursday, right? Yes. On Thursday. Yes. All right. So kick off of the season just, uh, less than a week away. Coach Amaya. I appreciate you joining us. Yes, sir. Thanks for having me. All right. Good luck this season. Appreciate it, sir.
