Jalon Walker gives glowing review of Damon Wilson, Nate Frazier

how you doing J good it's uh can you help us out with just from the standpoint of identifying you you know in print and in stories and that inside linebacker outside linebacker um where do you feel like you fit in and how is that um elevated or perhaps held back your progress maybe doing cross tring some much right you know um I've been blessed to be able to play both positions and I just call myself a hyper linebacker point being able to play on the edge and being able to play in space in the Box as well you know kachu uh has done a great job of you know developing at the inside backer position because before I got here I didn't play inside backer you know feel like I grown tremendously there throughout my time here as well then being on the edge with Coach d bay as well um he helps me a lot you know the edge is my natural habitat so you know I use that to the best of my ability but you know I feel great you know being able to play both positions and being the hyper linebacker J you're right I was going to ask which one more becomes natural to you it sounds like Edge rushing does I'm curious more when did you become fully comforable of knowing both spots from a schematic standpoint having the Playbook fully absorb right you know during my setback of having a high ankle spray and during the Spring I got to learn more uh through coaching um in the inside backup position you know by watching those guys go out there and practice and compete you know that opportunity got me to really dive into the details of being an inside backer you know of course you know throughout our summer as as well you know we've had our inside my inside backer ups at far seven on seven then I've had my past rush days as well so you know just having the balance of both uh throughout the throughout Camp throughout the season you know it's been great you know during this fall Camp I've been have the opportunity you know to sit in the outside back room as well you know and be in the inside back room as well as uh of course myself as well as too so um having that position being a dual position you know was great Jaylen when coach Harley was in here last week talked about avius Johnson and how impressed he was with what he's done so far what has stood out to you from what he's done since he's got here right now quavius you know Q to me um he's you know just a great athlete overall you know I just decided to see him grow up uh you know we had a since the spring just seeing his stries to become a better player throughout the the throughout the year so I'm just accomplish and proud of him J one thing that coach smart talks to here a lot about is exposive play margin you know on the defense limiting them offense breing them how much do you hear that and uh and then also like kind of how do you feel like this this defense you have will be at that part of the game right you know explosive explosiveness throughout the game is the Turning Point throughout the games you know you went off explosive plays through the offense and you went off of the explosive plays from the defense so having those two balanced up for having explosive offense for our side of the ball and having explosive defense by well elim eliminating explosives from the other side of the offensive ball you know it's just what we do at Georgia you know that's what we plan to do um you know just diminish explosive play so we can keep uh the game in our hands how do coaches like emphasize that what what things they tell you to be mindful we just go out there and play football you know stay stay in our keys and have our standard of you know go on airplane winning football with CJ Allen and Wilson what are you seeing from them as they uring their second season in terms of comfortability right know those two are Brothers to me you know they they've grown tremendously throughout the spring and I can't wait to watch them throughout the season we feel like we took a great stride in the inside back room of focusing and honing in our on our details throughout the spring and our fall Camp yeah I know in high school you worked at Chick-fil-A is there anything that working at a Chick-fil-A helps you with football helps you understand playing football more makes it easier um I couldn't tell you maybe uh maybe being kind being kind of you know kindness is you kill people with kindness you know my pleasure is always a great thing CH play as well so can can you give us a kind of a student athlete perspective if I'm not mistaken you guys are in the throws of Camp school starts tomorrow I think maybe um just for just processing all that the heat of pra daily practice practices and then now you throw class into the mix what's it like right now um at the moment it shouldn't be nothing new to us you know we take classes all year all year around you know during our spring semester and of course we have our summer classes as well but uh key thing you said student athlete you know student comes first so we hone in our academics of course you know we won't have the opportunity to play football if it it's not having great academics on our hand when coach smart was in here he talked about discri on Saturday and he wasn't satisfied with the effort the enthusiasm how much does that get talked about among the players especially this week in the lead up to that second scrim right ever since being here our standard of having enthusiasm and effort you know effort cannot be taught you know effort you know is shown throughout the players so you know us having high effort you know giving good effort you know that just excites practice even more you know that brings more energy to what we need to do you know it brings um more focus on our craft as well you know us being exhausted uh drives the middle aspect out of the game you know us being highly encouraged and have energy throughout the game you know he goes in our favor just about couple running your californ and BTN their quickness as far as how they stack up with the rest of the SEC what would you say what you see from those guys so far I think they fit in pretty well you know Trevor etn coming from Florida and you know frasure coming from California you know he's a freshman of course but you know everybody's here for a reason everybody plays football for a reason I feel like both of those guys the whole running back is talented what have you seen from Oscar Del stepping up just as not only as a player but as a leader as offense tries to replace Brock right you know he's became more of a vocal leader for our offense you know he's being in that position of replacing Brock but I feel like he's just stepping up you know and feeling in that Ro of course um but he's doing a tremendous job you know hosting that off side the ball uh to push their limits and push uh their standard as well yeah and getting to spend some time with the outside linebacker room what have you seen out of Damon Wilson what's maybe the big difference between where he was this time a year ago to where he is now right you know there's always a a gap of knowing the offense or knowing the defense and and learning the defense but I feel like Dam had that opportunity to know and learn the defense even more throughout the off season that prepares him to be even a better player than he is now you you guys yesterday were announced as a nearly consensus as a number one preseason team it was very similar in the coach's poll I just wonder if that news even penetrates the bubble of you know buts football complex uh if y'all heard that or is it you know quickly dispensed with with then through instruction and coaches said don't listen to that at all right you know I don't think coach smart needs to you know preach that to us CU we come out here to play football you know that's other people's opinions you know it came up as a notification on my phone and it's just another notification to me um you know just we always have to work and keep our effort you know to being that number one team in the country you know and having our standard to have a successful season when you look to the second scrimmage on Saturday as a defense what do you feel like you guys need to accomplish what areas you need to take a step forward in during that SC right we we got a lot of work across the whole team you know we got to get done don't really specific detail of what we need to hold in uh preach coming from coach smart we need you know have more effort have bring some more energy to the scrimmage more questions for Jaylen all right jayen thank you Jen
