HOW WILL THE "O" LOOK? OFFENSIVE DEPTH CHART PROJECTION: Kansas City Chiefs News Today

we are here at the conclusion of essentially the first week of training camp and Pete unor Sweeney has been present for all of the action in St Joseph Missouri and he has a projected depth chart so far for the Kansas City Chiefs and in this video we're going to be reacting to the offensive portion of this I have left out all of Pete's um reasoning for these projections so if you were interested in those things which are you know that's the bulk of the article right this otherwise is just a projected depth chart and I will be I will be commenting on that part of thing so if you are interested in that be sure to head over to Arrowhead Pride in order to check out that um article now we'll start where we start two quarterbacks Patrick Mahomes and Carson wz I see no reason to believe anything different than Pete on this subject I don't remember if it is this season or last season that the quarterback emergency quarterback rule went into play I think we are going to maybe actually start getting more roster modifications in the future especially as the league pushes towards 18 games so I think that is possible one of the things I think is possible and maybe even necessitated by this is that the rosters will expand you will be able to dress out all all of your active players I think it's going to go to 60 active players as opposed to 53 only 48 of or or so dress total I can't remember the exact number but uh so there's going to be that and then I think that the quarterbacks will end up on their own uh salary cap I think there will be a separate salary cap for quarterbacks but here no reason to believe anything other than Carson Wentz and Patrick Mahomes as the two quarterbacks in play Ian book and Chris olad doen are increasingly less interesting I will say Chris Ola doen has not has not proven out in in the preseason thus far or last year in my opinion so I I don't really understand the The Playbook fit with Chris Oken Ian book is a guy that so Ian book the interesting thing about Ian book I don't think that he works as a as a starter but I think that he is a dangerous third string quarterback which means just if he's the type of guy who can win a game because teams are not expecting him to be accurate and get rid of the ball quickly and those are things that he does well so if everyone rallies around a guy like that he can pull off a win in the NFL I'm not sure about Chris olad doen running backs three Pete says Isaiah Pacho Clyde Edwards elair and daic Prince I believe that this is roughly not only the number of players but also the depth chart in general as you will see the left tackle left guard Center Right Guard right tackle on the offensive line which means that uh Pete is saying that Isaiah Pacho will be the starter Clyde Edwards elair will be the backup deneric Prince will be the third running back I agree these are the three names I agree this is ultimately going to be the order of these three names for the first few weeks of the season if daic Prince hits the ground running in the way that I think he is capable of doing then I don't think that this will actually end up being the depth chart for very long I think that so if what are the other names I mean we've got imanii Bailey we've got Carson steel but outside of those interesting young guys all of the other running backs currently on the roster Hassan Hall keante Ingram they're kind of the sameish guy the sameish guy that the Kansas City Chiefs already let go twice this preseason so I think that this is probably pretty spoton so far as the running backs are concerned Why wide receiver Hollywood Brown now the first thing to notice here Pete is saying that the Kansas City Chiefs are going to keep seven wide receivers on the active roster I think that's a pretty good bet I'm I'm planning a video for later this week I believe maybe early next week where we go over the fact that I think the Kansas City Chiefs are going to keep more wide receivers than five for example Hollywood Brown has played the full number of games in a season one time in his NFL career Rashi rice is has a suspension pending Xavier worthy has practiced one time as a Kansas City chief one practice as a Kansas City chief Justin Watson J oh I just messed that up Justin Watson I have no word on his ankle yet that injury looked to me very similar to the Brian Cook injury it is listed right now as a foot injury the one thing that I will note about that that makes it interesting is that was definitely his ankle so if it if it is listed as a foot injury meaning that it is very low ankle or you really messed some stuff up in your foot for it to be you have you've got your ankle here you've got your foot here something pulled or pushed from the foot which would make that that classification either way you were now on your fourth Wide Receiver right here who is um injured right now micle Hardman has not had an injury history but he's 187 lbs so it's difficult to hang your hat on that type of weight class in the NFL cadarius Tony we are learning this preseason was born with 10 thumbs so that is probably part of the struggle that he had last season and then lastly Nico Rio is entering his first would be entering his first football season in the NFL as a professional player not on a practice squad or injured reserve so seven wide receivers yes right here but a whole lot of question marks in the middle of those names so yeah something to look at we're going to get to a position later in I think it's the next position right no yeah I don't know if tight ends end up being for wide receivers if someone stands out in Camp might end up being eight just something to keep an eye on Titan ends Travis Kelce Noah gray Jared Wy and Irv Smith well no let's let's stick on the wide receivers for a minute so what you're saying is Philip Brooks gone jiren Hayek gone Sky Moore do you see Sky Moore's name in this list of seven gone Cornell Powell I think it's likely is gone Justin Ross not in this list of names Kyle sheets not in this list of names Montrell Washington not in this list of names which of those guys end up on the practice squad um yeah Sky Moore Justin Ross not being on this list of seven wide receivers just goes to show you the ti this is an interesting group of wide receivers I I mean that in the best way I mean that in the worst way there's a lot of potential and a lot of potential disappointment in this group of names for your one draft class AG goes two draft class AG goes second round pick to not make this seven deep really shows you how bad Sky Moore is struggling right now moving on to tight ends Travis Kelce Noah gray Jared Wy and Irv Smith now the Kansas City Chiefs do have quite a number of tight ends I am partial to Baylor cup I believe I hope I I I should differentiate that I don't know if I believe Baylor cup will be a practice squad player I hope Baylor cup is a practice squad player Garrett Prince 64241 an interesting name but right now those are the two names that are not making the roster that the Kansas City Chiefs currently have um again just like with the neric prince Jared Wy probably starts week one as the third tight end I don't think that's going to last he's going to start week one as the third tight end because Andy Reid is loyal to players and Andy Reid is partial to experience and expectation he knows what to expect out of Noah gray Jared Wy is still a rookie so there is that Irv so here's here's where I get into a little bit of contention Irv Smith and Noah gray strike me as very similar players with what they can bring to the table maybe not with their attributes right I think they're fairly close as far as that is concerned but maybe not with their attributes they're maybe not the ex exact same guy but I think that there is quite a bit of I think that they're very comparable as far as what you can expect from them if you have them on the field I don't know why you want that same guy twice now this might be where the Chiefs had previously used a fourth tight end for Blake Bell a big Bruiser with decent hands who's not going to run after the catch but is probably going to make catch if you target him on a third and one and he's able to contribute in the running game as well so that is why I think Baylor cup is going to have an outside shot if the Kansas City Chiefs do carry four tight ends he's a big guy at he depending on where you find him listed uh you will find him listed at 662 43 or 66 260 I found numerous numerous um places where he is either of those sizes so where he actually is I do not know but especially if he is 66 260 I think Irv Smith or Noah gray can wave goodbye to the roster I have heard nothing about Irv Smith so far in the preseason so far in training camp so maybe maybe that is not the maybe that is not an obvious move keeping Irv Smith but I think there's always time for someone to emerge moving on to the offensive line nine names kept on the offensive line Wan Morris at left tackle Joe Toney at left guard Creed Humphrey at Center Trey Smith at Right Guard Joan Taylor at right tackle here Pete unor Sweeney is saying that Wan Morris wins the left tackle composition or competition composition competition in preseason here for the Kansas City Chiefs Kingsley Su mataya is the swing tackle then Mike Kendo is a backup interior offensive lineman Hunter NAD becomes your interior offensive guard SL Center backup and Chu godric is a Backup backup offensive tackle not included in this list are some incredibly well maybe not incredibly are some troubling names Lucas Nang not here and Pete has been watching him get shuffled around the offensive line in my opinion CJ Hansen if he is who we think he is could be on the active roster as a rookie otherwise he risks getting picked off as you try to pass him through to your practice squad Ethan Driscoll has taken already second team left tackle snaps so those are three notable names uh CJ Hansen Ethan Driscoll and Lucas Nang not appearing on this list but who do you think you can slide through to your practice squad that's the big question with these guys right here right now um calling W Morris right now to make the start to get the starting nod week one at the left tackle position is interesting uh he has been there to see all of these snaps play out so far in the preseason I am probably of the opinion that W Morris is the starting left tackle week one snap one Lucas NE not being on this list when a guy like Mike Kendo is is a little bit troubling for anyone who doesn't remember Chase young said that Lucas Nang was the most aggravating player the hardest competition he went up against in college Lucas Nang Lucas Nang missed his final season in college with a hip injury Lucas Nang sat out his rookie season in the NFL for the pandemic I think it was likely to be a red shirt season anyway as he came back the next season Lucas Nang ended up getting some starting nods for the Kansas City Chiefs before getting injured again I believe that is what happened there correct me if I am wrong but I believe he ended up getting injured again during his first season starting for the Kansas City Chiefs uh so not seeing him on this list sucks man it really does hopefully if this is the case and Lucas neang can not crack the nine deep for the Kansas City Chiefs they end up at least flipping seventh round picks with someone in order to trade him I do think that he has trade value because I do think he has starting offensive tackle capabilities in the NFL even if that's not what you necessarily want to do with him CJ Hansen of whom I have heard nothing so far in training camp which is not surprising not being on this list is troubling as well uh if CJ so the the big thing here is Mike Kendo right Mike hel yendo former udfa out of Western Michigan an accomplished player at the Mac level at the the level of Western Michigan Eastern Michigan Central Michigan Etc but hasn't he he's he's looked decent in his time in the NFL he's gotten on the field for the Kansas City Chiefs he is I don't believe he has any starts I yeah I mean he would I would have known if he had starts I'm pretty sure but um decent Prospect he's a good depth guy he's not going to be a starter for you he's not going to crack the starting lineup he's not going to push anyone like Joe Toney Creed Humphrey or Trey Smith but it's good to have guys like that I don't know if I necessarily believe him beating out the Ethan driscolls and the CJ Hansen of the world this was the depth chart as it is projected by pete.
