invited to actually we're not invited we are bound to fast from meat to abstain from meat on fridays and i would encourage our group to go a little deeper than that to get a real sacrifice focused for the day particular intention you're praying for and to maybe give up one meal or fast from something that takes you away from the lord that keeps you distracted some little addiction that you'd be willing to give up today and um i i mentioned yesterday the fasting webinar that i watched that was so excellent so ladies if you go to my facebook group taking care of the temple with kitty cleveland um i have a link there to the video there was a registration but then now they've posted the video and i believe you can access it that way i did not get to it yesterday to do my own recap and frankly i'd like to watch it again because there was so much information and then maybe i'll do a recap of that live on facebook but um anyway i just invite you to check it out i was so convicted and um so i am starting intermittent fasting um for the remainder of lent that's my goal i'm saying it publicly but basically to fast for 18 hours a day and then to eat in the remaining um six hours so just a thought something for you to consider doesn't have to be that long but um yep just an invitation so friends we offer this rosary today for all of your intentions fasting is like adding throwing jet fuel on the fire of our prayers it really makes them powerful and gets god's attention and um also for all the intentions of the immaculate heart of mary and continued prayers for father philip scott who is giving a mission this week and will this coming week is giving a retreat to priests in mexico in the name of the father and of the son and of the holy spirit amen amen i believe in god the father almighty creator of heaven and earth and in jesus christ his only son our lord who was conceived by the holy spirit born of the virgin mary suffered under pontius pilate was crucified died and sorrowful mystery the agony of jesus in the garden then going out he went as was his custom to the mount of olives and the disciples followed him when he arrived at the place he said to them pray that you may not undergo the test the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak after withdrawing about a stone's throw from them and kneeling he prayed saying father if you were willing take this cup away from me still not my will but yours be done the fruit of this mystery is sorrow for our sin our sin makes us so sleepy doesn't it it makes us blind there's something about living in a state of sin that blinds us to the truth we become numb to the effects of our words of our behavior of our thoughts the way that offends god and offends others wounds our own soul and so lord jesus we come to you right now in the garden lord we're awake we have risen early to be with you and lord we are so sorry for our blindness our selfishness our stupidity our cruelty lord we repent of the wasted time and the time that we slept when you asked us to stay awake to keep an hour with you to keep watch to be vigilant and so lord we begin again thank you lord jesus that you did not take us while we were still in a great state of sin but that in your mercy you allowed us to come to this point in our lives where we could repent where we could draw near to you and love you and begin again and we ask you lord jesus to have mercy on us as we come to console you and comfort you in the garden our lord still suffers friends it's a both and yes he is in heaven and yes he still suffers because he loves us and he is compassionate that means to suffer with so let us console him right now with our prayer and then today with how we live our day how we minister to him and all those whom we encounter our jesus at the pillar pilate said to them then what shall i do with jesus called messiah they all said let him be crucified so pilate wishing to satisfy the crowd released barabbas to them and after he had jesus scourged handed him over to be crucified the fruit of this mystery is purity let us never be counted among the crowd the mob the angry mocking coarse mob it's easy to get caught up in the absurdity of what's happening right now in our culture and to become indignant and angry and hard and mocking and i believe me i have had that temptation and the lord invites us to step out of the mob and to become a part of the body the body of christ that's merciful that intercedes for those who are blind our brothers and sisters who are in the grips of the enemy who have been blinded by sin by their own woundedness we're called to be intercessors for them to love them because truly there but for the grace of god go we so lord we come to you at the pillar as an individual lord to love you and to love the members of the mob by not retaliating but by praying and fasting and sacrificing for their deliverance and for the forgiveness of our own sins thank you lord for all that you have done to obtain mercy for us to extend everything that you have for us to sacrifice it at great cost let us return love for love and let us return love for hate our father who art in heaven hallowed be thy inside the palace that is the praetorium and assembled the whole cohort they clothed him in purple and weaving a crown of thorns placed it on him they began to salute him with hail king of the jews the fruit of this mystery is moral courage i just had this beautiful vision of the lord crowned with thorns covered in blood suffering like his whole body was on fire and he rested his forehead on my shoulder if there's some pain in your body right now i want you to invite the lord to just rest there and imagine that it's a thorn from the crown that he's wearing just one thorin that's afflicting you and i want to invite you to say lord i'll take this for you if your shoulder is hurting see the lord there resting his weary brow on your shoulder and embrace him gently and just say lord i'm here for you i unite my suffering to yours together let us save the world our father who art in heaven hallowed be thy name thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven give us this day those who most needed thy mercy the fourth sorrowful mystery the caring of the cross then he handed it over to them to be handed him over to them to be crucified so they took jesus and carrying the cross himself he went out to what is called the place of the skull and hebrew golgotha there they crucified him and with him two others one on either side with jesus in the middle the fruit of this mystery is patience patience as we carry our own crosses with the lord don't leave him don't leave the way of the cross and lord jesus we ask for the courage to stay with you and to be patient under the weight of our own crosses we all have something every day it's something because you have measured out a cross for us for this day and lord if it be your will and the will of the father we ask that this particular suffering especially suffering in our flesh or moral suffering lord that it would be taken from us but not our will thine be done and lord jesus we trust and we believe that the only reason you would continue to allow this suffering to continue in our lives and in the lives of our loved ones is because you are bringing about a greater good from this suffering and lord we don't want any of our suffering to be wasted in fact lord jesus we offer to you right now all of the suffering of our entire lives both moral and physical we offer it to you right now all the suffering that we complained about in the past forgive us lord we offer to you now united to your cross for the salvation of the world we know that we have a role to play lord we ask you to make us holy and to give us the courage the grace and even the joy to carry that little portion that you ask us to carry today we're here for you lord and thank you for being here for us too our father who crucifixion and death of jesus when jesus saw his mother and the disciple there whom he loved he said to his mother woman behold your son then he said to the disciple behold your mother and from that hour the disciple took her into his home the fruit of this mystery is perseverance okay the lord is inviting us to do something right now first i want you to look at our lady at your mother and our mother she was just given to us by jesus on the cross she is accepted the invitation and has taken you as her own her heart is pierced with swords for love of the lord and for love of you and i want you to look at our mother and see the great love in her eyes because standing right behind you is satan himself and he has a list and on that list is every sin you have ever committed your entire life and he is waiting to accuse you and to take you with him and our mother takes your face and her hands and she dips her finger in the blood of jesus coming down from the wounds in his feet and she makes the sign of the cross on your forehead he has just bought your salvation but satan is still there there is one more step because standing off to your right are all of the people who have sinned against you there is no one in this world who has not been sinned against and who has not sinned we all have something to forgive and we all have something to be forgiven all of us even the saints they too had to be forgiven to become saints and so turn now and look at all of the people just ask the holy spirit right now to bring to mind the people who have deeply wounded you if there's any unforgiveness left satan still has a claim to you we must forgive so how do we do that right now i want you to dip your finger in the blood on the cross and mark the forehead starting with the person who has wounded you the most and as you go and mark their foreheads say after me lord jesus in your name i forgive and name them for any debt owed to me i ask you to bless them to heal them and to save them in jesus name i pray amen and now our lady has taken that list that satan was holding and she's tearing it in two and she is tucking it behind the feet of jesus on the cross your debt has been canceled so let's offer this decade this last decade of the rosary to all those who have wounded us and also for all those who do not know the lord jesus paid for them one drop of his blood was enough to cancel the debt of the entire world but we must extend mercy and we also must receive the lord's mercy so let's kneel down with all of those who have offended us whom we've just forgiven and marked with the cross we ourselves have been marked with the cross let's all anneal towards the lord as we pray this last decade together our father who art in heaven hallowed be thy name thy kingdom it's fasting the abstinence for meat because the lord jesus sacrificed his flesh for us so we sacrifice flesh for him today and to offer it up for all of those people who are kneeling with you at the cross as a concrete way to make of your bodies a living sacrifice for them um and for your own forgiveness let's let's put some skin in the game so to speak also i want to invite you if you've never prayed the stations of the cross or if you haven't prayed them in a while i prayed them last week with the meditations from saint alphonsus liguori and they are available for free on youtube and in written form as well on the internet so just if you google ligouri which is spelled r l-i-g-u-o-r-i l i g u o r i ligouri stations of the cross you'll pull it up and they're just such on abu on a beautiful heart level and it took me deep into the passion as i meditated on it last week so it's a beautiful thing for us to do on the fridays of lent really at any time and it's not so much a meditation on your sin as it is a meditation on your love and how much the lord was willing to suffer for love of you and to have him with him forever in heaven wow god is good yes amen amen okay necessary that divine providence should commit her mary to the charge and guardianship of a man absolutely pure chastity is a virtue a very important virtue to be chaste is to have self-mastery to be in control of your passions and sexuality contrary to what many people think a person who exercises chastity is not repressing or rejecting the beauty of human sexuality on the contrary chastity preserves the human heart and body for authentic self-giving all people no matter their vocation in life are called chastity chastity is the virtue that prevents us from being slaves to our passions and acting like irrational adam animals celibacy on the other hand is a special form of chastity god calls some men and women to celibacy for the sake of the kingdom of heaven saint joseph was both chaste and celibate he was called by god to espouse a virgin consecrated to god in her mind body and soul saint joseph was the chaste guardian of the virgin saint joseph and mary lived in what is often called a josephine marriage they were truly husband and wife but they never engaged in sexual sexual relations their vocation was to be united in heart mind and soul but never in body they were both consecrated to god and sacrificed a natural good for a greater good the salvation of souls saint joseph is pure of heart to be chaste is to be pure of heart if a person's heart is not pure they are incapable of seeing god saint joseph's heart is exceptionally pure saint joseph gazed on the countenance of god and the person of his son for decades poets have often stated that the eyes are the window to the soul if this is true saint joseph must have had the most chaste and pure eyes of any husband who ever lived his eyes and heart were pure intentioned chaste and a fire with love for jesus and mary i can just see him having such warm kind gentle eyes modern man has become blinded by impurity this is what we were just saying the world encourages pre-marital relations cohabitation contraception and many other immoral practices chastity is a forgotten virtue today even married couples live with the idea that they're free to do whatever they desire with the body of their spouse however this is not true chastity is required in marriage as well in order for couples to truly love one another to retain their dignity and respect for each other and i'll just say it's just a matter of not using the other person your spiritual father is a gentleman saint joseph is the first christian gentleman next to jesus he's the greatest example of masculine chastity he was married to the most beautiful woman in the world and he treated her with respect dignity and reverence if men today were more like saint joseph protectors and defenders of beauty instead of users and abusers of the feminine mystery what a different world this would be god wants all men to be like saint joseph he is the first chaste guardian of the virgin most men will be called to marriage while some are called to consecrated celibacy both vocations are necessary without marriage there are no children without priests there are no sacraments married men need to be chaste in marriage priests and bishops need to be like saint joseph in their chaste love for the virginal church guardians defenders and protectors of the beauty entrusted to them not users and abusers of the sacred mysteries pope benedict at the 16th had this to say joseph the just man is appointed to be the steward of the mysteries of god the potter familias and garden guardian of the sanctuary which is mary the bride and the logos in
