zero one hello and welcome to theong top 10 tennis my name is Dr Ashley Morgan Burge and I'm your host uh welcome to episode 108 of Beyond top 10 tennis and we have a lot to get through we have roughly five events on the WTA tour this week and a little over almost eight events on the ATP Tour we're playing catch up from last week where we um got to the quarterfinal stage on a number of events but also uh the ones that are kicking off with the Olympics also um kicking off only in a couple of days so we jam-packed uh first of all um if you've been with us for some time now thank you so much you know what we're all about if this is one of your first episodes you are tuning into thank you so much all the uh the same but as always I really would encourage you to track back to some of our earlier episodes uh roughly uh 1 through to 50 really focused on the secrets to Optimal Performance success uh one of my first texts that came out uh roughly 50 to uh 70 episodes are focused on the second text um the secret optimal uh coaching success before uh this season so the beginning of 2024 or we kicked off with that new format really diving into the weekly rankings and results whilst really dissecting key player performances ranking progressions uh really I think um to share additional insights on how those uh previous episodes that set the foundations where we really unloaded on key scientific um findings understandings application and now what it looks like in the real world from a player standpoint but also integrated within there essentially the the coaches standpoint but also I think most importantly if you're a player on the dbil ATP Tour and you're looking to track towards the top 10 how um to go about that but more so um if you're range say outside the top 100 those key differentials um and also if you've been with it some time now you know what's about to happen and for those of you who are new um my latest release um it did come out at the end of last year how to develop a top 10 tennis ranking it really set the foundations for a lot of this season cuz it allowed um it freed me out really to share these the really key insight and then you'll see the um the sub heading there the power of the eth key and that comes from from the text you'll see behind me but the the seven keys right here that came before that and where I'm going a lot of these episodes really focus on just those Eight Keys that are crossed um in both of these texts and essentially it's been broken down and again 100% back by science on these eight key principles what you need to do to integrate into your game and it's a world first and I touch on this very frequently and direct correlations with that top 10 ranking why there are 8% of players that maintain their hold inside the top 10 why there are 2% that are more susceptible to regressing each and every season as a minimum these numbers are as a minimum and also why this season is a bit of an anomaly where we've had up to 50% of players ranked inside the top 10 who essentially should not be there with their level of play but why we're seeing more barri Breakers than normal uh the players that uh cross the threshold and while we're having a season with more breakthrough players in in a really good way because I think we've been overdue for some time now but why it is not um shocking it is essentially anticipated but even more importantly if you are ranked inside the top 10 what you need to do to stay there but also if you're ranked outside the top 10 what you need to do to get there and and how we're able to track backwards to players rank say 500 in the world 900 in the world at their local Academy at their local Club just starting to play and these key fundamentals that they need to integrate into their game now and that's where um if you head to aim International you'll see the long game and the pathway because um both of them work in Tander with that 10year pathway that has been developed now all also recall that I have authored 12 books um 11 of those are specific to how to develop that top 10 tennis ranking um how to win that Maiden Grand Slam how to achieve replicated success so multiple Grand Slams um around episode 88 we we started this new form so the video and audio feed so irrespec of where you're tuning in they're both available but prior to that uh the the introductions were a little bit uh different that really dived into that background about the theories the achievement the data so if you want to hear that that there's a couple of minutes there tune into those early episodes if not and you want to learn more or specifically about myself and my background head on over to a international click on about then click on Dr B and you'll see everything there but also if you click on the books tabs you will see the list of uh texts there but also you'll also see the long game of the pathway and really be a to dive into what all of this is about of course though if you want to catch up on those episodes head on over to Beyond top 10 tennis and you'll see 100 plus episodes now and we we really only started remember around I think we're at 14 15 months ago and it's been absolutely jam-packed why because um essentially I realized that instead of waiting or for you to wait for that next text to come out I can share more in real time now to complement those texts already so why for example I can share more about the 10 keys and the Seven Keys and my other texts now um if you haven't read them then please do but to give I think that wider context and the key applications but more so if you are ranked almost inside the top 10 or inside the top 10 to really uh share those um key significant findings on a on a weekly basis on why players um are progressing at um the tournament level why maybe they are losing in those initial rounds and really what that's telling us and if it is anticipated or an anomaly and how it really really are ties into those specific keys and and how with Predictive Analytics we know if a player or I know if a player is going to continue to progress make the semi-finals finals or regress it's really exciting I think that's enough of that each and every episode I do like sharing a little bit of a different snippet on how everything essentially ties in all right as always we're going to start with the WTA tour before crossing over to the ATP Tour two screens here um and we're going to start uh this week similar to last week with the uh results before we track on over to the ranking so a little bit different there where typically we look at rankings then results I want to dive into the uh the rank the results sorry first purely because we've had some exciting progressions over the past week just a number not too many significant changes but there are a couple of noteworthy players and these results are really going to essentially underscore the why behind it all right let's kick off dump sh the Palo ladies open we are at the quarterfinal stage now remember Zen is the number one seed bear with me if you do know the results all right so we had Zang Christian the seventh seed Zang very good one and one win Parry the fourth seed um over p in three sets there beu over Lee in straight set and makova over Sharma 7676 um five and six respectively in those tie breaks now I believe this match went for close to 3 hours or just under it was a very very long one very impressive now remember I think this is mover's third tournament back she was ranked inside the top 10 for the best part of the Year even though she had not played she'd been sidelined with a RIS injury I believe rolling GIS was just when she came back could have been her first tournament back and then Wimbledon she made I think the first round there just from a recollection and so really she's only started she's already had a retirement in one of those events I think this is her first event where she's been able to get a number of matches under her belt so it was maybe maybe not at this quarterfinal stage whether or not mov would progress um pick up that level of play or not recall she did regress that ranking finally after the French CU she wasn't able to uh defend those ranking points and so slipped outside the top 10 more likely should have slipped outside the top 10 earlier this season that wasn't the case so big regression outside the top 30 interestingly though it was whether or not or the question is if mov was going to be able to string together these winds at this level to regain her ranking say inside the top 30 or not and the good news is after this tournament we know what has happened and we will reflect on the ranking shortly so that was a very good win for uh mova and I think a real um Cornerstone of that really underscores I think the background of that story semi-final stage now this was really impressive now remember Zang is a part of that 50% this season that is not correlating with that top 10 ranking yes she made she was a finalist at the Australian Open absolutely Sensational first time Grand plan finals she's made the quarters before US Open last year however all of her results so far this season have been relatively lackluster they have not been at that level of a top 10 player that consistency has not been there it's been quite problematic um and also I think in in in respect to other players inside the top 10 she's definitely been part of that 2% um that I touched on earlier but also there's results they just have not been showing w Wimbledon to the French Open to all of the uh bigger events that have happened this season has not been showing up number one seed here she is the defending Champion now we know what's about to happen or I know what's about to happen but again I really want to I think reinforce that this is not top 10 caliber and she has been also a part of that 50% anomaly not inside the top 10 remember though there's a very high Benchmark Baseline for a top 10 player and I don't want to take anything away from those players inside the top 10 that live up to that expectation that deliver on those key uh metrics nonetheless all right semi-finals Zang Parry fourth seed so the seeds are doing their part or I'll say uh three of the four noteworthy the third dropped earlier all right so Zang very good win over 5 and four makova PR progressing against beu 1 and one really good performance from mova there very very clean especially after that huge quarterfinal win over Sharma super tight okay finals this is what we wanted okay Zen we know she did get the win so she got but makova made her first final back probably well all year I think she had a resurgery prior to Christmas so she's been out roughly since October November last year so making the finals here and pushing Zen who was a grand slam finalist at the Australian Open very solid mov came this close it was three sets 64 4662 yes Zen ran away with it in the third now I think what's really interesting here is yes great Zen defended that touch she got her first title this season but remember she's a top 10 player and this is her first title this season I would anticipate and expect a top 10 player to have at least one or more titles this season well that hasn't been the case for Zen so good yes that finalist result let's see hardc courau season if Zen can pick up her form from last season where she started to track makova though now she's made the final she's bumped herself back inside the top 30 it'll be very interesting now if she's able to continue along on the same trajectory or she's going to regress I think uh when we're looking at the let's say the data and if mova stays healthy especially with her re we can look at makova to potentially end the year inside the top 20 if very big if she kicks off from where she left off at the end of last season when she was healthy um is she I think Poise to break into the top 10 by The Season's end no that that's probably not the case unless unless there's a huge anomaly at run in the hardcourt season but I'm going to say given mov a record on Clay this is a very good performance back and maybe she'll be very lucky if she cracks into the top 20 but I think she'd be really good even though we're yes we a little bit over halfway through the season it'll be very good for her to begin The Following Season comfortably inside the top 30 before she goes to make her move again very noteworthy though for really good win for zing and okay so that's the Palo open there all right over to the Hungarian open or the Hungarian Grand Pricks we're at the quarterfinal stage now remember Schneider number one seed and she's the only seed left Benchmark however here is schneer uh prior to this event was ranked around 30 in the world so um that just gives you I think an understanding of the top seed there and the pack players as in there are no players in this event they ranked inside the top 20 Shena quarterfinal over um Sidle 4 and two lies over shakov in three sets that third set was in a tie break in seven five um Schmid over over aan in three sets and sasnovich over L men's three sets there semifinal stage um schneer overlies three and three so the seeds hold in up here and really noteworthy we haven't been seeing and yes we just did see in the pal open the number one seed claim the title but we're not seeing many seeds back that up consistently so it's really good to see uh a correlation there with the players living up to these expectations where predominantly um earlier in the season the first half we saw a lot of seeds dropping so it's a really good indicator when a player is given that seed and they're able to live up to that expectation it's actually a very healthy metric shova fell to sasnovich in three sets there in the other semifinal final Schneider sasnovich and four and4 Cher now I believe this is scher's third title this season at least second title she started the season I believe way out 89 in the world and remember when we saw her performance whether it was Australian Open very early on we've been tracking her since because that Maiden title she has kept showing up and I'm a big big big advocate of this schneer played in the NCAA uh long time ago I played in the NCAA it's a very rewarding system um to get those matches under your belt in contrast to uh say the alternative now what's really good here for Schneider she's hit the ground running um with these key results now recollection as well is that I believe Collins played in the NCAA um Shelton NCAA obviously it's a lot more popular for us players uh schan obviously is not US based but it's really important to say that I'm based here um in Australia so as an international going into that system it's very uh different however it can have equal parts reward there um if it is handled in the right way now granted um from my perspective it was a long time ago now as much as I would prefer not to admit that what the system has changed slightly in respect to allowing or affording more players the opportunity to that so let's say it's opening up however there are very big rulers in place it's definitely not for everyone but there are I think some very um important um Avenues there for players it's a it's a very different discussion um to be had at another time but dive into again am National Pathway Long game but and I haven't really said this previously if that's something you are considering or are unsure of please reach out and I'm more than happy to answer I think questions obviously as they come in or leave them in the comments um irrespective on on what um platform Network um preferably directly on AMA please do that so you'll have a better turn around and I'll try to um address those queries in future episodes so really good win for schneer and now we've SE we're seeing her firmly ranked inside the top 30 and again with our Predictive Analytics and I'm super pumped about this we said this I said that this was going to happen um months ago Schneider was going to cracking to the top 30 and she keeps surpassing those key expectations and meeting them head on really exciting and it just reinforces how powerful these conversations are that we're able to have almost in real time now if you have been listening week in week out to say these are the players that are tracking this is what's going to happen these metrics this is what's lining up this is why a play is going to U regress R we said at the beginning of the Season regress outside the top 10 tick we've said jaor as well tick unfortunately for both of those players but that's why we set the Benchmark so high for a top 10 player and how we know if one of those Eight Keys goes haywire and I can uh share with you it's it's gone a Miss we know that they're going to regress outside the top 10 okay next event we're at uh Prague this one however has just kicked off so w to they're the two events um from last week that have been now done and dusted wrapped up so we do have new events that kicked off this week so we're halfway through they will finish roughly I think around essentially the opening ceremony of the Olympics so very very tight there so Prague open round of 32 for perspective the number one seed is noova noova was um inside the top 30 I think she's just inside the top 30s still or just outside remember noov was a quarterfinalist I believe yes at the Australian Open this year I also believe noova was the player who knocked SW Tech out she has been able to maintain that rankings hold predominantly inside the top 30 all season to date so and that's so for more than half of the Season she hasn't had that many big runs since then but we still waiting for a bigger run and maybe this is her event all right round of 32 noova over zavesca 3 and two lies again lies is coming up um SOA um 4 and three lies with the win there um cor P felter Shahara in three sets look at this 76 3675 um poosa is the seventh seed she felt to C in three Lynette's the fourth SED she got a win over ble in two men's Belta mova in three sets a tie break in the third set there 75 um fed over van UTV um 2 and two Ovis fifth seed over um Jamich um 7663 sha fter fretch um the six seed now remember sha had that very tight match against makova only last week so it's still a good performance there three sets over fretch obviously fretch with that wi there C Co over son 4 and0 um BOS Manero fell to Jackie marrow in three and four um kalinine is the third seed she got a win over B in three I'm SP Lo the eighth seed she fell to Von dman 4 and four palakova fell to celtiva 5 and three Samson got a win over worth 0 and two and Cova is the second seed over Cho um three set notth here that was a lot I apologize for the mispronunciation cuz I am positive I have mispronounced a number of names very important not worthy Samson um upand cominging player only rocked onto the scene I believe she's qualified for this event um very important though she's only 16 years of age I believe from Czech Republic this is her breakthrough tournament very very noteworthy and important here I believe I just read that she's the youngest player since GF to get these winds under her belt now remember there's a very big caution here when you are wrapped that age and Rapid Fire results we've touched on miror Andrea 17 years of age now was 16 I roughly just before the French Open now she had that huge result um semi-finalist at this year's French Open cracked into the top 30 or almost thereabouts and she has been hovering I say inside the top 40 very very very good results however we need to reach a plateau at that age before progressing too soon similar to what G did she didn't just crack into the top 10 overnight it's that steady result otherwise we get that burnout and that steep regression um tune into I think our earlier episodes where we touched on um the need to follow that pathway Ste steady progression that are more controlled in context opposed to to much too soon cuz that's when we're overloading the body and we're increasing the likelihood of injury so remember again all of this work is about mitigating injuries lessening the likelihood of developing an injury and these are say Key signs key markers we can put in place early on to afford longevity for that play at the height of the game rather than reaching a top 10 ranking and then regressing um soon thereafter okay uh round of 16 um noova very good win um over lies however look 6221 lies did unfortunately retire um Sidle over sh um shabara 2 and five Lynette over masarova 3 and four toova over fet three and four h fretch over salova salova did retire in the third set though when it was 2 all 64 672 all that was tough that was very close very good for c cooba a push fretch the six seed almost I will say then to 32 all very close Jackie Mo felt to Kina in three again third SE so Jacky Mo well done for her she has been tracking same with lies um Von dman fell to um salaka one and two Samson another good win over Cova noteworthy again Samson Rec 16 years of age syia coova is the second seed that is a huge win for a 16-year-old to get a win over the second seed absolutely significant there so Sams that's very noteworthy uh to pay attention to essentially a player um at that age at this stage and to see how she continues to track but um what's really important is that we don't want too much too soon but making obviously the quarterfinals of a maiden I think W event is very very impressive noova again first SE 1 and three over sidal at the quarterfinals lyette over tomova that's the fourth and fifth seed respectively three sets 4663 62 now remember Lynette has been tracking this season same with fretch the six seed over kalinine at the third seed 266 love 61 a very good win there and Samson another win over Celica Mata 26 6375 she's through to her maiden semi final all right we're going to stop it there because semi-final action will get underway at some stage I will say later today and or tomorrow so that's a really good result so capping that off uh for uh the Prague open semifinals we've got noova the first seed and Lynette the fourth seed and the other side of the semi-finals is fretch the six seed and Samson um is that breakthrough teenager having an incredible the best playing the best Tennant of her life at this stage so that's going to be uh the semifinals and we will wrap that up um in next week's episode okay next event is I believe no we're going to I was going to say almost hard that's going to be the next one all right so the is that I will say icy open uh apologize for that mispronunciation but the event in r mania this week it is um I will say a similar level event so to put things into perspective miror Andrea is the number one seed good to see her back we haven't seen I think her in action the past week or two Okay so we've got the first three rounds to get through um round of 326 and the quarterfinals at this stage so similar to Prague okay um AA very good win over Noah aroui one and two sass by in that first round um boskovic over Tim 5 and one lepchenko over trevisan the 16 now remember uh only two weeks ago or just over a week ago trevisan got that um almost most I believe she won that first title from recollection so very good win for Leb chenko to get that win in three sets blink over the full seed fell to danovich now remember danovich started to track with some really good winds earlier this season she hasn't been able to replicate that level of play uh we haven't seen that for the best part of the last 2 to three months so for Danel to get this win first round over blink over the fourth seat 62 5761 is very impressive maybe we're going to see glimpses of that level of play she was able to bring and get that consistency because if we get that consistency happening that's when we'll see that correlation with her ranking okay um tooni over fet however she was at five love fet did retire there um Bas riera over bar 2 and three Bond the eigh seed over Beno 3 and one avanessian the fifth seed over Roma gouras 1 and two parz digas fell to martic 4 and four Roose over Tona in three um Christian the third seed over bran AIO 2 and four Kyle the seventh seed fell to p 4 and two Walt HT over macova 2 and two uh we've got tomova fell to jit 1 and two and bulgara got a win over Maria the second seed 4 and2 that is very noteworthy there all right onto the round of 16 um Andria very good win over sasnovich one and three alenko felt to boric at three and four danovich another very good win over to dony 1 and one this is great to see and Bas rera fell to bond the E SE Evan in the fifth SE got her win over martic in three Christian the thir seed got the win over Russ in three 64 6761 that tie bre was 71 a p good win over Walter one and five and janich over bulgaru 6276 86 in that tie break okay there were some time two swiers there my apologies so quarterfinals we are up to now we've got arria very good win over boskovich to and love and so it's another event we're seeing in the number one seed I don't think I've seen this many events All Season all season long where we've seen the number one seed perform we've already got Zen we've already got schneer and now we've got Andria and the SC has been performing as well all of these players that I've touched on we have not seen number one seeds fall at this level I love this consistency but I really need to I think underscore and amplify that we have not been seeing this for the best part of this season of course yes we've been seeing um top 10 players who are number one seeds more consistent however Zen's been a part of that 50% anomaly so no hasn't been I'm talking of say the suex GS um Sabal Lanka riina somewhat um Pini now yes maybe not so much Pula Sakari yes Collins yes been tracking but not when we're looking at Players ranked outside the top 10 or even outside the top 20 really holding on to their own and all these players with these seeds are essentially ranked around that top 30 range and this level of consistency is what we want to see and it's very promising to I will say Shuffle around and make players ranked inside the top 30 a little bit uncomfortable cuz these are the players that don't want to take their place with uh these players being more uh susceptible to the likes of say Anda n schneer are taking their place okay so Andrea again um 2 and0 over boskovich um danovich another very good win over Bond the eight seed 5-2 I think this is the best I've seen danovich play All Season she is not seated um and this is really I think underscoring that breakout win she had early this season I cannot recall who the win was over I just remember danovich really shining through with some winds there and knowing that she's on the radar so I do apologize for not knowing or recalling what event it was to put danovich on the radar she hasn't been able to replicate that before until now which is very very impressive what we want to see and she's now making her first I would say semifinal result all season I don't think dich has made the semi-final stage um at this level um so we are not seeing that so this is going to really help Dan's ranking which will not very noteworthy show up in this week's ranking because this is um an active event still underway this week and the rankings we will touch on are the live rankings that came out at the beginning of this week okay very important there um avanessian over Christian we did touch on that no we have not D Bond check Okay avanessian Christian the fifth seed and third seed respectively that is to love I'm not too sure if that is a match currently potentially underway or if there has been a retirement but it has not been noted the other quarterfinal there is p over um Jan vit um love 6 6261 that is actually very significant there no so that's an event we will clarify that next week if that is the case it looks like potentially it is currently underway because I'm not seeing that retirement so that really opens up I think that semi-final stage you will see the fifth or third seed through against P there now remember P has been tracking only slightly but still enough not worthy to say this is not uh shocking but really impressive there the other semi-finals will will comprise of Andrea and denich I think dich could be a bit dangerous there for Andria but look we know Andrea made semi-finals Roland garos she's absolutely on fire her level of play um that's probably going to be a very very good match Andre is the number one seed she's favored obviously to get the win here which I think would be her first hard to win um this season but it'll be I think very good um for her game given potentially the last couple of weeks hasn't been what she potentially anticipated she had that early exit at Wimbledon but will really I think put her on track for the later half of this season okay um last event for the WTA tour is the Polish open and it is the first sign it's a little bit sad but it's the first sign for the hardcut season is here and is now officially almost underway I think there will be more hardcourt events after the Olympics but this is the first I'm seeing in sometime now since I'll say the likes of Indian Wells and and myami before switching to the clay all right so we've got the round of 16 to the round of 32 to touch on and again polish open here uh number one seed is shmakova so we've had uh I will say the level of play or the rankings it's a little bit different there is I'll say a more significant Gap to the ones that I've previously touched on but still it's important I uh thought this week to touch on some of these players to see if we end up recalling some of these performances later on so irrespective of their current ranking if with their progressions we see um them show up um which may be surprising some of these players may qualify later on uh maybe not but I think it's still um equally I think um insightful it is a smaller event and typically um I would not be uh discussing them so I will looks it's a 125 the others we've touched on are 250s so I'm going to go over these quite quickly but still it's noteworthy to see who gets those wins so schmack hover um did fall first hurdle um very important there so she is the number one SE and she's Fallen to Bel of Zade um one and two um we've got a fire still over serban in three um stonit a thre set wi over Haring Coba um joint is the fifth seed there with a three set win over rusik a lot of three sets now um says mass is the third seed over Kawa a 7 SE then retirement there um redka now remember that name got a win over Alby redka that's Ura Reda she is um remember um AA ranska former number two I believe she picked number two was predominantly number three in the world around yes serenas uh period there that run even before that I I think rodw very popular polish player and granted polish open so her sister was never at that level or inside the top 10 let alone I don't think um Ursula got inside the top 50 but it's great to see I think her playing a home event okay um kopka fell to Diaz in three di is a player that has been uh I'll say on the radar in some events previously although has not been tracking naif is the seventh seed and she's Fallen at the first for hurdle toar in three um the e seed um Savin fell again first round to kovic um four and three Parks there's a noteworthy name we've heard of Alicia Parks we know what she is capable of there's actually a ride up on Alicia Parks it's straight and open so if you head to am International and our blogs you will see that there so this is not surprising thre set went over herel AA and Aussie um straight sets over stovich um Ela fall into shinova um Bai the six seed first H she fall into glushko and fos scar fell to Monet 4 and two and Kung over El wild in three and hontama the second seed did get the win over Raina in the first round really interesting there because you can see I think the distinct difference around the seeds falling not living up to say that level of play and more of those new comers that are not seated progressing um we've got the winds in the round of 16 I will say bolade got the win over Fel joint got the win over stovich um that rodska did fall to sster um Diaz did fall to ainsa um Parks did get the win she has to be favored for this event over clova um IA fell to shova Monet fell to glushko and and the second seed hontama fell to Kung um so that really comprises of the 30 round of 32 and round of 16 a quarterfinals is set and the we look Parks is there and you got the fifth seed and the third seed there but you really need to favor Parks if she delivers because she's definitely capable um of that all right that really wraps up all of the events on the WC let's have a quick peek at the rankings I want to start at 100 noteworthy is oaka is still at 102 so just outside she hasn't been active we haven't really been seeing her in action so I'm sure when we do Naomi will crack into the top 100 this season and I think she's really looking forward to the hardcourt season we know what she's capable of okay noteworthy I think movers here we'll go through this quickly um Bogden has had a steep regression there 28 points um back to 96 um Sheriff very steep uh 20 point regression she is back to 87 poosa back 14 points 285 um Paris up 7 uh 75 sorz too 12p Point progression 71 karolina Schmid over 9-point progression uh up to 70 um other I think big jumps we've got Parry a Sixpoint progression to 52 too um other ones were inside the top 40 now most players are relatively steady now inside the top 30 this is very important um something I completely disagree with is spina has her one point regression to 31 Spina I have no idea why she's been pummeled back um essentially 15ish places over the past fortnite I understand because she didn't uh let's say make I think as far as um the semi-final stage at wimbl but she came so incredibly close um that's a huge regression I think especially in contrast to other players Spina is at 31 should be ranked inside the top 20 um Mira Andrea she is 32 pava chanov is at 33 should be inside the top 30 Bolter at 34 should be inside of the top 30 meron 35 should be inside the top 30 um that really rounds I think that out really underscores why I think the rankings are a bit skewed where these players really should be and their results have been tracking this season so it's very I think unusual to have I think a handful of players outside of the top 30 that really should be excuse me okay um Sixpoint progression makova is at 29 so she did break into the top 30 after that result nosova is 27 seven in the world again she's got that number one seed this week fiveo progression Shena she has firmly solidified herself inside the top 30 huge rankings High 23 in the world only 20 years of age huge result for her I am ecstatic because she was ranked way outside the top 30 around I think that 80 ranking range was at that almost Plateau that other players r but for her it was another progression and she's been making inroads all season and it's really important this is what can happen you can start the season rank 90 80 in the world and before you know it midseason inside the top 30 that's how powerful the eight keys are does Shada have the Eight Keys No does she have the Seven Keys No they're reserved for a top 10 player but if you get a hold of three four keys and they're solidified in your game consistently then the fifth you know then the six you know so really schneer we're looking at solidifying and applying and further integrating let's say seven and eight and top 10 here we come at this rate Schneider I'm not going to be surprised if she has a breakthrough hardc season she may very well finish the season inside the top 15 but let's see how she continues to track okay vea we know she's at 21 as a rank is at 20 um no player really inside the top 20 has moved absolutely none uh whatso ever very interesting there so we haven't seen a lot of these big plays in action the past week um understandably wimbl was only less than a fortnite ago so there are no I think big movers there we know kin SK 17 then jaur at 16 Navar is at 15 Austin peno's 11 at top 10 we've still got crova Collins Sakari Zen Pula palini riina sabla go and S Tech um not where is also when the Olympics get underway uh on Sunday and onwards there are no points there but really important the following week there is going to be a 500 event on both respective WT and ATP tours and so players not playing in the Olympics they will get points um and it's very very noteworthy I think um as far as the women's tour is concern um and we're looking at the top 10 we know sabinka is not playing in the Olympics and when it comes to the men's top 10 I believe um cner and rublev are the two primary players still inside the top 10 or obviously definitely for cner but we will get to that shortly all right that wraps up the um WTA tour this week over to this screen now to touch on the ATP Tour but I want to just um clarify when we're looking at top 10 and who may not be playing and yes I think that's correct because um Ru is still rank inside the top 10 we will get to that at the very end but the only players I'm pretty sure that are not active um at the Olympics will be unfortunately sit now um and also uh R Ru I think from recollection all right so the events we've got a couple to um catch up on from the quarterfinal stage from last week before we have a number underway this week so we've got some very big results that have unfolded quarterfinal stage um at which one the Hamburg open so zarev was the number one seed we know the result but this was very very impressive because who he played in the finals um he has been tracking a very big breakthrough at Wimbledon so was really very impressive to see him back that result up from Wimbledon through to the Hamburg open all right zarev over Zang 4 and three now Zang was the eighth seed and this was one of those matches that would have been quite Troublesome for Z because Zang has had that breakthrough and I believe he is inside the top 30 or thereabouts at this stage very good win for howev has been playing all right Sarah Londo the fourth seed fell to Martinez again quarterfinal stage three sets 16 6164 Bez the third seed got a three set win over derei the seventh seed Phils the fifth seed got a win over Rune really really important run was the second SE 6441 very very good result there um I think that's what has impressed me the most with Phils we know uh Rune has unfortunately been regressing this season I was hoping that if R did get that win there would be a bit of a change of a tide there but look the result was 6441 and I have heard recently that R has a bit of a niggle in his wrist um and he has withdrawn from the Olympic not that surprised and he is obviously ranked outside the top 10 so medal chances weren't High when we're looking specifically at top 10 correlations though I really should say on a side note that doesn't guarantee um a win because we've had former play or former gold medalists and medalists ranked outside the top 10 win medals um at the Olympics so that's very unfortunate for him although I think the biggest surprise is C obviously he was definitely primed to potentially get some revenge on ELR on the clay um given that five set that they did have and get that gold especially how he's been playing this season so it's def definitely very heartbreaking I do believe I did read that um sen did come down with um tons solitis so it wasn't something he would be able to push through if he obviously wants to stay healthy all right onto the semifinal stage here so zarev martinz 2 and four for zarev then Phils got the win over the third seed bayz 2 and two and that's what was really impressive impressive was how Phils was playing check this result out now remember how Phils played at Wimbledon he played very very solid best I think result he's had throughout his uh career has really improved his ranking just sitting around outside the top 30 I believe but look Z the number one seed love seeing the number one seeds tracking all the way through to the finals feels got it 63 3676 and that tie break in the third set um 71 very very impressive of feels first title I believe um this season or at this level first title Absolut huge win and to get that over Zev uh I love seeing the celebration because it was really good everything was fine between the two players and you have to love that when competitors become uh friends or very close um nonetheless um through I think celebrating um that really shows um sportsmanship at the highest level so kudos to both Phils and Zer for that but very very good for Phils Phils if he continues to track from Wimbledon and now with this tighter win is not going to be surprising if he has a good season on Hardcore he may finish the year ranked inside the top 20 um very very good we'll get to the rankings later to see how that has impacted his um but um his progressions but I would argue that Phils is probably ranked inside mid 20s at this stage so it's very close to cracking that I'll say initial thres threshold before he gets to that top 10 threshold okay um next event that we need to wrap up is the emphasis Hall of Fame open so the one in Newport um the quarterfinal stage here we are up to opela was the Wild Card remember we know Riley has been definitely top 20 um over the best part the last couple of years he hasn't been active I don't believe in the past two seasons or the best part uh I don't think he has a ranking at this stage or he's not ranked inside the top 100 from recollection he definitely hasn't been a player that has been tracking but look he's already reached the quarterfinals and he's got that win over McDonald uh 46 63 64 miton the third seed um four and four over kovich uh vukic the sixth seed felt to Banks the four in three sets I think this is EU Banks's best performance all season um great to see him back in action and remember that Aussie bolt qualified got all the way through to the quarterfinals he felt the second seed Geron 6461 uh now remember very noteworthy jiron has been tracking this season opela fter mitchelson the third seed in the semifinals two and0 and Jon he did get that win over Eubank so so second seed and fourth seed respectively 64 36 62 and the finals Jon got his title 2 and3 over mitchelson check this out 67 6376 so it was as tight as you would expect when we're looking at the second and third seed respectively but I'm really Hing for donon because we know he's been tracking especially the best part last 2 three months and he's got that title very significant and will help his ranking all right so that wraps up the Newport open there um the next one we have is gustard so we need to wrap up gan from last week we were at the quarterfinal stage one of the big events I said okay Tisa pass and fognini were facing off in the quarters and it was going to be very big test for tisas four and three to tisas very good win now remember tisas was the number one seed here a got Alysa had bartini in the corners very heavy set I think pack here U bartini very good win he was seated six yes um but a l and look 7676 bartini got the win but we know AG L has been tracking this season former top 10 player both of them um uh baritan has regressed I think sooner he did then agore Alys and uh more rapidly because we know Aliss is back inside of the top 30 Bari was essentially outside the top um 100 cracked back into the top 100 was hovering around that 89 in the world but he has been making inroads very impressive um Wimbledon unfortunately he did have that very tough early round but look a 7676 and that was 97 uh 72 very very impressive there for both of those players struff the fifth seed a Chev the fourth seed three sets to Stu very impressive 7536 6 63 that's very significant we know strauff has that title this season but it's a very good Wing to track through to the semi-finals um the other or the end of this quarterfinals was very surprising because we had two qualifiers um H and hide um H's got that win 6175 okay um onto the semifinal stage Tisa pass number one seat against bartini the six seed bear with me if you know the results bartini huge win over tisas 7675 that first uh that tie break was 86 that's a huge win for bartini even though Tas is not ranked inside the top 10 at this stage he is 11 and he has spent the majority of the Season ranked inside the top 10 or just on the threshold um very very good win for bartini we know what he's capable of and to get these winds under his belt is really important for his ranking he's had a huge progression courtesy of this win um and we will track back to that shortly okay um so he has progressed through to the final the other side H huge win over stru the fix seed so the qualifier got the win 6376 house is officially on the radar that is essentially absurd but very very good and impressive because this is where it starts um so we've got hell into the finals um so he will officially be on the radar now as a qualifier that is made the finals bar huge win over Hells 3 and one you can see how exited Dian because we've been waiting for bartini to track and he has started to string those wins together and we love seeing that especially for a player who has been ranked inside the top 10 which essentially reaffirms they know the Eight Keys and what it's all about but when they become displaced and they lose them they may only have a hand handle on or grasp of three or four while they struggle to further integrate and solidify the other Keys into their game but when they start their game start taking shape which is really really important and impressive I think um all the same okay that one wraps up our gusta there are the Swiss open now we are on to um the nordia open in Sweden we are up to the quarterfinal stage and not worthy we know Nadal is in action okay quarterfinals we've got tante over carabell beina um 62 sorry 63 2675 B guessed the seven city with a win over scat HOV qualifier 4 and three Nadal over Navone the fourth said I believe this match was just under 4 hours and is almost or if not one of the longest three set matches um almost ever I will say but I think it was one of Nadal's longest ever matches thre set mattresses ever played or the second to the longest 67 uh 72 7575 but it went for that long that's that's huge so well done to naone um for keeping Pace with Nadal that whole time but very impressive great to see Nadal healthy Al julovich the qualifier got to win over montiero in three sets so quarterfinal stage here is um ala kuchuk I will try that again and V the qualifier fell to Nadal so Nadal got that semifinal win 46 6364 so well done to the qualifier to take Nadal for three sets that would have been a huge match um for him and then in the other side of the draw B guest got a win over tante three and four now remember B guz has been showing up lately which means he has somewhat been tracking he's made it into the final I believe this has to be his first final this season at the N open to face Nadal Nadal did get that wild card but look Bor guess was too good for Nadal now how exciting Bor guess this is his first title and how about that he's won his first title against Nadal that is huge one he will remember for his rest of his career but we know Nadal is potentially on his life last season but that's a huge win for baz 3 and two over Nadal Nadal had some lovely words for baz which you wouldn't expect anything less it's just great to see Nadal in action um and yeah we know maray is hanging hanging up his rackets or his boots I'm so to say um after the Olympics very very sad we know feder was obviously a couple of seasons ago now Nadal potentially this is his last season and really of those top four we've left with jovic and we know he's still at their Helm of the game War Rinker was in there to D Potro we know de Bel Del potra has retired well Ren is still in the mix somewhere thereabout but obviously not at this level um all the same so it's it's really great to see Nadal in action but well done to Bor guess and we will look at the ranking shortly to see because borest now is officially on the radar which is really exciting when we get to I think introduce these new play players almost on a weekly basis now where we're seeing these newcomers claiming those Maiden titles or really seeing them show up okay on to the events that have kicked off this week we've got in Croatia the plava lagona um open so we've got the round of 16 and the round of 32 to touch on for perspective it's a bigger event rub is the number one seat he got to buy the first round all right mikro is the wild card there he felt to Ugo Carabelli 2 and five morzan over Cheno in three 76 at third set and 108 in that tie break maak the seventh seed has fallen to Montero in three sondo four seed by first round um cor C qualify fter dog Giga wild card in three Sono over Pak and three Moher over analdi the eighth seed in straight says darer the fifth seed over aich one and four menic over poin three and two fgh over and Ash 4 and three um sing is a lucky loser but he got to buy the first round he got very lucky there none the six seed fell to caboi 2 and three lovic um got a win over movich a qualify in three and um tret here qualifier got a win over arizen Oz another qualifier in three and mazetti is the second seed by in the first round all right round of 16 results because it's still only underway Ru got his first win over Oro Carabelli 4 and five marazan over monteo 2 and six Sarah Londo Goodwin three and four over doig um Sano over Muller 5 and one menik over darer the fifth seed very good win for menic 4 and three forini fell to the lucky loser Sing 1 and0 that's a huge win for sing so well done there um lackovich over caboi 7676 75 and 73 huge win mati got his first win over tretti the qualifier 4 and three all right so that sets up the quarter finals for us to touch on next week um rev marizen um Sarah lundo Sano men over sing the lucky loser and mati um against Lovich to round up the quarterfinals to get underway um in Croatia okay onto Atlanta the first hard court for the men's now um so far this season um for perspective Shelton is the number one seed Shelton uh by first round we really only have the first rounds to go off um because it's still very much underway Shang qualifier over Martin one and one shapovalov got a wild card but he did fall to Goffin in three 643 661 Perell is the eighth seat he got a win over another Aussie o Connell in three Thompson is the fourth seed he did get a buy Mayo was lucky loser got a first round win over corck um 7663 oela back in Action again um he did get a win over kovich 3 and 76 um kazook he fell to davidovich forina the fifth seed first round 6276 Nakashima the seven seed he's fallen to McDonald 6264 and isoka over um saaga the qualifier 7663 Harris the qualifier has fallen to carrat 7 6262 TFO is in action he's the third seed he did get a buy first round Walton lucky loser and Aussie he's got a win over kovich the six seed 4 and four wolf another lucky loser he's fallen to renden neck 3 and two beluch qualifier has got a win over vukich in three sets and manarino is is the second seed to round out those first round matches all right we've got a couple of round of 16 matches that have been underway not many to touch on there's only two of them we've got um beluchi the qualifier against manarino and beluchi got that win 76 4663 and Ronette got the win over Bolton the lucky loser 7663 we need to see TFO in action McDonald a pela Thompson pcel against Goffin and Shelton will have Shang the qualify all of that to happen in the round of 16 oh my goodness and Atlanta to wrap up there next week last tournament Jam pack this week on the atp2 especially in contrast to the WTA we have the generali open in Austria so we've got the round of 32 and round 16 uh two touch on so far uh with quarterfinal still to get underway so Bez is the number one seed by first round to rante he got two and four over theme uh look it's great to see theme in action we know it's his last season look theme um he's one of grand slam when all three were in action feder Nadal Jo well and Mari still all of them were in action and theme similar to say the likes of del Potro Rinko were there he did get that win over um the R Us Open final but it's really sad to see a player at themes level former top 10 or essentially I think he got to maybe number three in the world maybe there was two there for that time but I'll settle with three um unfortunately has succumb to his injury and it's really taking a toll on his career um similar I think in Maran respect Nadal with his injuries F obviously as well um it's heartbreaking really re reinforces why all of this work that that I'm behind um it's there to get you to a top 10 ranking to win a grand slam to win multiple Grand Slams but most importantly to stay healthy to mitigate injuries it's so important and for those of you who are not familiar you're wondering why is because I was one of those players at the very beginning of my career where I unfortunately suffered to not one but multiple injuries that essentially gave me that choice if I wanted to be a part of tennis steel and of course of course I did but instead of playing and dealing with those injuries I fell into coaching um and I did and those of you are not familiar I am argu the most qualified coach in that world I am the world's leading coach and scientist on player and Coach performance um the world leading scientists behind not just the groundstroke but each every technical inference of the game and all of that has been integrated to make sure you can stay healthy and reach uh your next pick performance as we're evolving that next generation of play all right uh next match is um Gast Dawn got the win over Altima in three sets Carabella B is the seventh seed so he got that first round win over fich in three martinz fourth seed with a buy Nagal good win for him over kle the qualify in three deaza custa over Korea in three a qualifier three set win over the lucky loser movich the Jerry the eigh seed a good win straight sets over CPR qualify uh Sao wild over schler 2 and six hman over monor in straight say hide lucky loser has he's got a buy um often at the fifth seat he's fallen to noar Wild Card there in three um Moren de Al Boran a wild card straight sets win over cerini four and four bartini's in action there we go over cotov 7676 that's a huge first round win for bartini there that was 8675 and tabilo is the second seed with a buy okay round the 16 results here that's all we've got to wrap up the jaler open we'll have to um get to the quarterfinal stage next week all right Bayer the fth seed good win over tarante 3 and three in the round of 16 Gaston over Bells Baya the seventh seed 2 and six Martinez the fourth seed got a win over Nagal 5 and five di austa over Galan in three de Jerry the eight seat has fallen to sa both wild in three Huffman over hide in three Mor do aloron over Nina straight set and bartini has taken out the second seed to Billow 7676 fancy that the bartini to backto back uh matches tie braks that he's had that that's that's huge and against a billow it was seven uh four and 75 respectively in those typs very impressive you really need a favor bartini if he has the legs or the stamina in him to continue to track he will face the Wild Card Marino deal at boron in the quarterfinals halfman and sabboth wild will face each other martinz and Diaz a custa will face off and Bez and go gastor Bez is the number one seed Martinez is the fourth seed and that is all of the seeds so you really need to favor bertini and maybe just maybe bartini might get backto back wins um in his events and that would be huge for his ranking okay that wraps up all of the events on the ATP Tour so let's head on over to the rankings starting at 100 Lloyd Harris is there so he's at up one we know Harris has been tracking um so really good for him to break inside the top 100 let's hope he can stay there Coman was at 100 last week he's now at 99 uh McDonald's he's up too he was at 99 now 97 Walton the Aussie has cracked into the top 100 last week and he's still there at 95 which is great to see same with oconnell at 93 and cockass is at 88 respectively great for the Aussies there okay noteworthy big regressions and progressions this week poovi um he's up 9 points to 82 uh montier is up 6260 um sorry 279 Forin had a good jump of 10 uh points of a progression 270 m is back 5 268 pel's back to 266 vage is at 5260 Evans is back 159 ofner he is back 6 256 negro Back 2 to 54 um huge bertini he has officially cracked the top 50 32 point progression at 50 officially 50 I believe this is bartini's highest ranking in at least 18 months it's huge for him for a play of his caliber absolutely significant we are keeping an eye on bartini he is officially on the radar the next player is inside the top 50 he was 51 last week 9 point progression to 42 is ball guest he's had that made title win over Nadal and he is at 42 bartini and borz let's watch them track potentially we'll see them inside the top 40 without a doubt B guess um bartini definitely has his sight set I would say on top 30 if he maintains his current form because we've talked about Pig performance we've talked about those Cycles um establishing that Baseline before you reach that next Peak Performance and make it your new Baseline and that next Peak Performance and resolidify that Baseline we know bartini is capable of that he has those tools he has the keys he's just resolidifying them reintegrating them into his game it's only a matter of time I think if very big if he's able to maintain his current level of play okay garon is the other player he has that title under his belt eight point progressions to 38 in the world huge really significant for these players he's officially on the we we knew gon was on the raadar but definitely we're going to keep tracking him all right TFO a little bit there he's finally cracked back into the top 30 he's 29 in the world mon is back inside the top 30 at 30 in the world M we know he should be inside the top 20 Tio he hasn't had the best SE seon but we know especially when he took ALR to five at Wimbledon he definitely has the the level of play of a top 20 player we just need to see that more consistently okay um into the top 20 we've got Phils he has officially cracked the top 20 so I'll take back what I said a short time ago that Phils would officially break into the top 30 he has gone um heads and above into the top 20 with an eight point progression huge absolutely significant I think for the 20-year-old and without a doubt I think if Phils continues to track um there's a very high likelihood that he may very well crack into the top 15 uh because inside the top 15 well let's look at how the top 20 agore Alis is at 19 Bez is at 18 wasetti is at 17 then run is at 16 Phils without a doubt can overcome I think those players to potentially get that 16 ranking however it's going to be um a lot more difficult against other players Ugo hbert um so this a 26-year old fellow Frenchman he has been tracking this season then you got Shelton Paul tisas Fritz that's a huge I think um level of play a very big gap there standing between those um first five from Hur through to frits and then the other five so ruin then through to Phils so we're looking at Phil's potentially tracking to Edge hird definitely has that capacity this season although I don't think he's in the same caliber yet as El of a Shelton pool Fritz tisas um but that's definitely I think within the next 12 months if he continues to play how we're seeing him play and resolidifies that Baseline with those Pak performances that I've just touched on Phils is definitely one of those players and one of those newcomers again just at 20 years of age um definitely to keep an eye on okay when we're looking at the top 10 we don't have any newcomers this week um siners holding his own there jovic ales zarev however has picked up um some more points so he's actually um moved U more so ahead of we know mv's firmly at five but really Zev is resolidifying I think that Gap because Mev was at four um four and three respectively before obviously the first three took their lead um so Zev another 280 points so he's definitely he's almost around more than 700 points ahead of meev but there is roughly I would say um a further 7800 Point separating zarev from elarz um definitely going to be very interesting um noteworthy however given that c is not playing um in the Olympics nor is saval Lanka on WTA tour if they do play their respective fight 500 events um and other players inside the top uh 10 are still competing at the Olympics they're two players that could very I'll say um sneakily pick up points and solidify uh their rankings and potentially um well for sin um extend that Gap against jovic or for sabalenka Edge closer towards G respectively since we know um obviously GF has the number two ranking obviously I think when points are there um saan go there's a thousand that are separating the two of them there's still a couple of thousand are separating um G from swed Tech but Sinner and jovic um there is just over a thousand separating the two and roughly just over 300 separ separating El from jovic there um it's going to be really interesting the only difference here we've got rud progressing one place um and rev um regressing um just nine but noteworthy we did touch on this last week is that ruv is um he's definitely one of those players that we have noted to regress outside um the top 10 um in the weeks to come he's a part of that 50% however the men's top 10 has resolidified its place so we're looking at um Ruble regressing really and Fritz replacing it please do read up on that article I wrote last week and then when we're looking on the WTA to it really has more solidified itself however um plays that we're looking at Pula to Zen um we're really looking at um those players resolidifying themelves if possible or the likes of Austin Peno um to kazak ke to replacing them even keys and Nar were probably more favored there um to really I think round out the respective top 10 players okay that wraps up today's um episode thank you so much for joining us look to grab your copy of how to develop a top 10 tennis ranking or the Seven Keys head on over to AMA
