Jets Rookie Rising the Depth Chart, Jeremy Ruckert Making Strides | New York Jets News

what's up guys mat o here with another video today's video is going to be breaking down the New York Jets running back room and how the depth chart is shaking out there through otaa so far also Jets tight end Jeremy Rucker making strides and Performing well in OTAs first let's get into the Jets running back room taking shape as we know Bree Hall is not practicing right now which is totally fine he is the number one running back on this team that is not up for debate and I want him to have as much tread on the tires at the start of the Season as humanly possible take it slow with him in OTAs mini camp training camp don't rush him in the pre-season and then have him ready to go in week one on the road in San Francisco that would be my plan with that being said you have backs like brillan Allen Isaiah Davis izy aananda and also Tariq Cohen and so far brillan Isaiah Davis and T Cohen all three of those guys have received reps with the ones not a good sign for I aananda but of the crop you have seen brillan Allen really getting a lot of work and making the most of it once he was drafted I kind of thought just based on the depth chart that he would end up being this team's number two running back but I wasn't sure how quickly that would be the case the Jets usually like to give the old older guys the veter the veterans a little bit of a benefit of the doubt granted Izzy didn't really do anything in year one that made you think like okay he deserves to be this team's rb2 as of right now and looking at it from a talent perspective Allen always kind of made sense to be that rb2 but something that he's added to his game and we've talked about already on this channel and on talking Jets last night was how his ability as a pass catcher has grown that wasn't something he really did at all at Wisconsin in any of the years that he's been in college football but he's the youngest player in the NFL right now he's the youngest player in the NFL draft and guy looks like an absolute Beast out there you know we all thought okay just up the-middle short yardage guy but he's adding more to his game than just being a short yardage back so I think he's a really nice compliment for for Bree Hall and truly I think it's going to be obviously Bree Hall as the Bellow but then a step down to brillan Allen and then a another step down to the field so I think Allen is really cementing himself as this team's number two running back second part of this is about the New York Jets tight end 2 Jeremy Rucker a fan favorite who is drafted in the 2022 class in the third round hasn't been used a ton as a pass catcher in his first two years although had a nice catch against Kansas City last year has mostly been a blocker and a really good blocker at that but we got some notes from Conor Hughes at OTA and here's what he had to say about Jeremy Rucker tight end Jeremy Rucker continues to make plays he had a very impressive leaping catch towards the left sideline on a high pass year three was the one the Jets targeted for Rucker to really take a jump and take over as the Jets starter now I don't think we see Jeremy Rucker Sur plant uh Tyler Conklin as a starter I think conch has a you know ends up having a pretty good run here as the team's number one tight end but I do think we could see a bigger role for Jeremy Rucker this year who was really third in the pecking order going into last year behind Conlin and uzama uzama and unfortunately last year became unplayable and I thought they stuck with him a little bit too long to be completely honest with you but Rucker I thought showed a lot of positive signs and we saw steady growth from year one into year two I think we see that steady growth again and see him take that step I I've always been even before he the Jets drafted him I was a fan of Jeremy Rucker's game at Ohio State I thought that he was an underutilized pass catcher there he had a unbelievable catch at Ohio State in a huge game and I just remember thinking like this guy should really be more of a focal point on offense for Ohio State then he comes to the NFL and same thing like this guy should probably be a bigger part of these teams passing attacks and I think this might be the year that he does a little bit I know some have traded in their stock on the tight ends whether it's Conlin or Rucker uh and you know a lot of it I think had to do with the Brock Bowers discourse and uh even if the Jets drafted Brock Bowers I wouldn't have been trading in my stock on Conlin or Jeremy Rucker because Bowers could have lined up as a big slot uh and really not your prototypical inline tight end so once again I I think this is on on track for where I thought he would be tight ends usually come on slow it's rare to see a tight come into the league and pop right away uh there are many examples of you know tight ends having limited roles in their first and second year and then hitting their stride in year 345 and maybe that's the case here with Jeremy Rucker so let me know your thoughts on both of these players brillan Allen and Jeremy Rucker two Jets youngsters on the roster I'd like to hear from you in the comments
