[Music] I know the mindset of the players that I have the opportunity and honor to to coach and they they want to win um fun is winning appreciate everything that they've done and for them to have this moment too and be a part of it like it's just super cool Cheryl Miller has three Indiana Fever teams under her belt so we're here at the WNBA All-Star Game she's the head coach of Team WNBA all right you got three fever players on your team Kaylin Clark Kelsey Mitchell Aaliyah Boston you've been able to watch the guys from afar what's your perspective been of how they've been trending and just them individually as well I will say one thing um I did not count on their basketball IQ being that high I knew it was high obviously because they play at this level Indiana has a promising future ahead with lots of potential for success but it's one thing to know knowledge it's another thing to to talk about and speak and and then put it into pieces and places and but it was a great collaboration with all the players but uh Indiana has a very very bright future for being how young they are too basketball IQ isn't just about knowing the game it's about learning and improving quickly that basketball IQ speaks volumes it it not only speaks volumes it's it's one thing to be young and they're learning how to play the game and they're learning um about their mistakes and how to correct them uh faster and so they're making those those game uh in-game and out of game um adjustments Cheryl is confident that they will mature and improve as they continue playing the only thing I see that's going to happen the older they get is is how to stop the run sometimes and and how to change you know uh the momentum during games but this is not a team people want to play because not only are they getting better but they're confident and they they show no fear they're Fearless we love that we love that that's probably what contributed to them having such a successful end to that first half from the players perspective it's going to be a fiercely competitive game between the WNBA and the USA team all right now we're going to transition to tomorrow Team USA all right it's not just your regular year it's your Olympic year the intensity is high that's what we heard from the players earlier what's your mindset going it's their my mindset is their mindset so it it it's all fun and games until the ball is tossed up and then it's on and these guys are competitors at both ends and we're just going to go out there and and give it a great show here's Caitlyn's perspective on Cheryl Miller what's a Cheryl Miller practice like gosh I love Cheryl I love her brother too he's awesome obviously at Pacer too uh we were in a little commercial together so I love their family they're just awesome people um and one of the best that's ever played the game so um I've known Cheryl for a little while now I think her energy that that's what I love about her like it's just contagious and um it's fun like I called her coach and she was like I don't know about that yet you'll have to see how I do during the game so uh no but it's super fun and obviously Myers too um getting to be around those two two people that have done so much for the game it means a lot to Caitlyn to have the opportunity to be coached by Cheryl Miller for me is super special like there's still two people that I really look up to and and idolize and appreciate everything that they've done and for them to have this moment too and be a part of it like it's just super cool here's Christy Sid's perspective on three Indiana Fever players being coached by Cheryl Miller the three of your players I mean the talker weekend has been where your organization is trending where these players in their chemistry is trending they're here on show should be fun tonight what's that meet to you as a coach yeah you know just what you said just the future of the fever it's incredible I mean to have you know these three here and then what we have that are that are at home um just just some unbelievable young talent and that's just that's just fun for the future especially so young to get this experience with other great players in the WNBA being around veterans help helps them gain valuable experience for sure you know to be around some of these vets and just to hear their experiences and and give them some advice on like what it took and you know to be on these teams that are you know the top teams in our league so it's just good for them to be around these guys and and just get that that good advice as the start of your break why did you feel was so important to be here and support them oh gosh I mean these three guys um you know playing in this game I mean wouldn't want to be anywhere else I hat it I missed Kelsey last night in the skills challenge we had a a event last night at funeral yesterday and in Indie that I had to be at but um glad she was able to you know pick it up for Erica wheeler who couldn't be here and um that was just an exciting glad she got to do that and represent the seems like the growing Chemistry by of Caitlyn and Aaliyah might be an example of what's to come for everything else for everybody on that roster with this upcoming break how much have you seen the team chemistry begin to transform to where you like it yeah I mean I think it comes with uh you know the winds and just you know early some of the same actions that were happening before um we just weren't on the same page it takes time uh to to build that chemistry on the court and so now you've had you know you've had games and you had practice and so now that they've had that opportunity you're seeing what they're capable of doing and then it's just it's just surface level right now you've had a couple days decompressed the first 26 games of the Season just what's your biggest takeaway from the first 26 it's pretty incredible Chloe just the um the games that we played with the the fans and the stands I mean just playing in front of soldout Arenas every night you know even in the preseason Even in our your games early you know to play in front of fanss like that it's just so awesome that these players are getting that opportunity how does Cheryl Miller approach tonight's game how do you approach tonight's game in the sense of like it's an All-Star game but obviously this game means a lot for Team USA to get ready for the Olympics as you know and I'm sure obviously you want to win as you mentioned yesterday but it's not just a typical All-Star Game you've seen it in in years past it really wasn't as we were we were talking about yesterday and then watching the men today against Sudan he got real real like real real so with that being said I know the mindset of the players that I have the opportunity and honor to to coach and they they want to win um fun is winning and that's the general consensus so we're going to put the best product out there um I certainly want to get everybody a great look and I think that's only fair because they deserve that and then after that they basically dictate it you know if they want to go for the juggler they'll go for the juggler and that means for some of the players sacrificing their minutes the teams that that I've coached period compared to to this team yes oh my gosh I mean these are the greatest players in the world and when you have the greatest players in practice and I'm coming in fresh and hot and new and uh the game is so different than when I coach from the college level and even from the when I when I coached the Mercury uh they are so invested in the game and so knowledgeable their basketball IQs are off the charts and they're basically going to be coaching themselves so that's the biggest difference and um and again like I said yesterday it's the collabor ation amongst all or all of them each other and and just working it out and what they want to do how cool is it to coach Angel re and Caitlyn clerk as they make their Allstar debut and how will you and how will you uh continue to teach them like the lessons in the game here's the most significant lesson Cheryl Miller has given to Caitlyn Clark I I think the biggest lesson that I can share with them is uh is to stand back and and and be a service in the best way I can I I I I speak when I'm spoken to um I try to give them the be the best answers that I can and let them be be themselves and again it's coaching is is is so um it's easy for me now because I understand what the players need and looking ahead it's not just what they're doing on the court it's off the court um I understand that for young players it's important for them to establish and I hope I'm answering your question um their brand um but basketball and brand uh it's it's beyond that and I don't want them to lose sight of what's really truly important and that's the Love of the Game and and how and and and why they they started playing with this round thing and how that made them feel I never want them to lose s of that and I hope I answer Gerald emphasizes the necessity for strong leadership and decisive action in negotiations advocating for a Firm Stance to achieve the desired outcomes with her statement Cheryl underscores her role as a Pioneer and leader serving as a guiding example for the kind of strong Visionary leadership she believes is essential for the future of the game we need tough and fair negotiators and Visionaries and we we need a bully we need a bully behind the table that's willing to say you know we'll break up the pieces and go from there but there's a certain number bigger than two that we want Caitlyn Clark recently shared her Reflections on her interactions with Cheryl Miller and Reggie Miller highlighting their influence and the impact they've had on her Caitlyn's admiration for the Miller family is evident she appreciates both Cheryl and Reggie for their contributions to basketball and for being remarkable individuals Cheryl Miller's infectious energy and positive spirit have left a lasting impression on Caitlyn their playful interactions and Cheryl's humility even in a coaching role highlight the unique Bond they share being in the presence of Cheryl Miller and Eddie Meyers who have both significantly impacted basket B is a source of inspiration for Caitlyn their achievements and continued influence in the sport serve as a testament to their legacy and dedication gosh I love Cheryl I love her brother too he's awesome obviously a Pacer too uh we were in a little commercial together so I love their family they're just awesome people um and one of the best that's ever played the game so um I've known Cheryl for a little while now I think her energy that that's what I love about her like it's just contagious and um it's fun like I called her coach and she was like I don't know about that yet you'll have to see how I do during the game so um no but it's super fun honestly like that's the main reason I'm not doing it is like to be honest I'm pretty mentally physically emotionally exhausted I've been competing for a year straight um and at times that probably can seem pretty easy to most people but it's really hard and really taxing Caitlyn Clark candidly shares the toll that continuous competition has taken on her the mental physical and emotional exhaustion from a year of Relentless effort highlights the often unseen challenges faced by athletes despite the perception that her journey may seem easy to Outsiders Caitlyn emphasizes the hard and taxing nature of maintaining such a high level of performance well it's truly an honor and it it's obviously a first for me to be coaching without a salary is completed full circle coming full circle and and getting the opport opportunity um to coach these these great players and be a part of the dob and and again to be back in my backyard in Phoenix it's amazing um coming in and and asking your your your players your team what do you guys want to run you already know who you're playing against um and being able to step back and watch them operate and and see the wheels turning and yeah let's run this zipper no let's do this step let's do this let's do this oh let's do you know not naming out all the plays and everything else but a unique collaboration with the best players in the world I mean what coach on this planet wouldn't want to be in this situation and now my job is to stand back roll out the ball and uh and be the cheerleader which is going to be a lot of fun Cheryl reflects on her journey and the significance of returning to Phoenix emphasizing the honor and privilege of coaching elite players Cheryl's collaborative approach stands out as she engages with her team encouraging their input and fostering a dynamic and interactive coaching environment Cheryl Embraces her role with enthusiasm finding joy in supporting and cheering on her team her approach underscores the balance between leadership and collaboration highlighting the unique experience of coaching some of the best players in the world I was just imagining him looking to my right and I've got Jennifer Gillum I'm looking to my left I got Michelle Tims and then in front of me I got Bridget Pettis and all of a sudden I'm feeling our team and and this is the this is the house that they built and a community that support us and open our AR open their arms to us and um we talked about and mentioned Legacy that facility is for everybody that came through who started at the very beginning and uh were a part of the creation of The X Factor Cheryl envisions the presence of iconic players like Jennifer Gillum Michelle Tims and Bridget Pettis highlighting the foundation they laid for the team she emphasizes the strength and unity that these players brought to the court Cheryl underscores the importance of Legacy recognizing the contributions of those who were there from the start the X Factor representing the team's fan base and Community is a testament to the enduring support and commitment that has fueled their Journey Cheryl Miller's Reflections highlight the Deep connections within the team the community's Embrace and the lasting impact of those who have shaped the legacy of women's basketball as she stands among Legends Cheryl's vision for the future is rooted in the strength and unity forged by the past it it not only speaks volumes it it's one thing to be young and they're learning how to play the game and they're learning um about their mistakes and how to correct them uh faster and so they're making those those game uh in game and out of game um adjustments the only thing I see that's going to happen the older they get is is how to stop the run sometimes and and how to change you know uh the momentum during games but this is not a team people want to play because not only are they getting better but they're confident and they they show no fear Cheryl Miller shared her insights on the growth and development of young players emphasizing their ability to learn adapt and become formidable competitors Cheryl highlights the critical learning curve for young players focusing on their ability to make quick adjustments and the future challenges they will learn to overcome as they mature their tactical understanding and ability to shift the game's momentum will become more refined Cheryl emphasizes the growing confidence and fearlessness of these young players their rapid Improvement and unshakable confidence make them a for formidable team that opponents will dread facing Cheryl Miller's Reflections underscore the dynamic development of young athletes as they continue to learn and grow their increasing confidence and ability to adapt will make them a force to be reckoned with in the world of basketball that is HED down better than probably and I'm not I'm not inflating this number probably 90 8% of the NBA do not have a pract practice facility like that with all the bells and whistles and the bells and whistles that make sense and now you have Matt's done a tremendous job um it's um and I was telling the players this it's it's one thing to be rich it's one thing to have a lot of money it's another thing when you invest your own money and you're smart about it and you're passionate about it and that's what Matt is and Matt is raised the bar and and and serve notice that this is how the standard is for women Athletics cherol emphasizes the exceptional quality of the practice facilities noting that they surpass those of most NBA teams the state-of-the-art amenities and thoughtful design stand out as a testament to the commitment to Excellence Cheryl commends Max's dedication and smart Investments highlighting how his passion and strategic spending have set a new standard for women's sports the emphasis on high quality facilities reflects a broader commitment to advancing women's Athletics Cheryl Miller's Reflections showcase the remarkable advancements in women's sports facilities and the importance of passionate intelligent investment the raised standards signify a new era for women's Athletics driven by those who believe in and support their potential I've honestly like I've always been somebody that's watched film so I don't think it's really changed like it's I mean film doesn't lie like you think one thing happens in the game it's not going to lie to you you go back and watch it so whether it's good bad ugly I think it's a great way to learn um but at the same time like when I go back and watch with one of our coaches like we also watch the good stuff see the stuff that you did well it doesn't always have to be just the bad stuff you find plenty of ways to learn but also find the ways that you you improved and got better and just continue to to you know replicate that from game to game and then improve on the ones on the ways that you didn't um but yeah I mean I don't think it's changed much like I've always been a film Watcher and somebody that you know wants to learn from game to game and then also watch film of our next opponent Cheryl highlights the undeniable truth that film reveals providing an objective view of what really happened during a game this honest feedback is invaluable for growth and development Cheryl underscores the import importance of recognizing and celebrating successes along with learning from Mistakes by watching both the positive and negative aspects of their performance athletes can gain a comprehensive understanding and build confidence Cheryl Miller's Reflections reveal the holistic approach to learning through film where both achievements and areas for improvement are analyzed this balanced perspective helps athletes refine their skills and maintain a positive outlook on their progress this is not a team people want to play because not only are they getting better but they're confident and they they show no fear so with that being said I know the mindset of the players that I have the opportunity and honor to to coach in they they want to win Cheryl Miller offers her insights on the allstar Team Dynamics what's your perspective been of how they've been trending and them individually as well I will say one thing um I did not count on their basketball IQ being that high I knew it was high obviously because they play at this level um she emphasizes the importance of collaboration for success but it's one thing to know knowledge is another thing to to talk about and speak and then put it into pieces and places and but it was a great collaboration with all the players Cheryl believes Indiana's future in women's basketball is very bright but uh Indiana has a very very bright future for being how young they are too that basketball IQ speaks volumes it it not only speaks volumes it it's one thing to be young and they're learning how to play the game and they're learning um about their mistakes and how to correct them uh faster rookies must Master stopping the run and shifting game momentum and so they're making those those game uh ingame and out of game um adjustments the only thing I see that's going to happen the older they get is is how to stop the run sometimes and and how to change you know uh the momentum during games the players are improving showing confidence and fearlessness this is not a team people want to play because not only are they getting better but they're confident and they they show no fear they're Fearless it's all fun until the ball is tossed up then it's game time my mindset is their mindset so it it it's all fun and games until the ball tossed up and then it's on and these guys are competitors at both ends and we're just going to go out there and and give it a great show this wave of momentum reflects the Journey of women's basketball so do you think that with your team this year is in the same position to do that globally for the WNBA brand I mean I think it's been you know it's been happening you know prior even to to this team um this momentum this wave you know that we're feeling it has been sort of this kind of Journey for women's basketball um to get the attention uh that it is um you know getting at this point so um I think we mirror what's happening you know obviously in in the WNBA and uh you know I think hopefully this team can um uphold you know sort of the culture and the the level of success and compete and um but I don't necessarily know that this team is going to be you know the team that that changes things um I think we're continuing to you know be on that upward trajectory and this this team has absolutely been a part of that hey coach uh what does it tell you about the overall Talent right now in women's basketball that you know you've got the best team chosen in the world to play the Olympics and then you just got beaten by a group of people in the NBA who seemed to be just as talented in the NBA um yeah uh it felt like you know we were guarding somebody from the NBA um tonight um but uh um I I think I think we know this everybody in this room you know you're here because you've been watching women's basketball I assume you're not new to it right so the depth we' said this for years the depth of talent uh they call on me whether it's the collegate level or or the dub I'm here to be of service she discusses the profound impact of Diana terasi on the sport um as you talked about the new wave in college basketball entering the W and some of the current C W players are there any players that remind you of you and if so who are they no no um and each of these young ladies they're one of a kind and um when I when I watch women's basketball like you said from the colic side to the dub there's a collection of mes that's what I see a ction of Mees sure when you talk about I mean to kind of pick you back off Legacy but to to be back like you said yesterday to practice facility and I mean Diana terasi I was herei career here in Phoenix you were an Olympian but to play in six Olympics would it what can you say about her it probably hasn't already been said longevity longevity uh Diana has is a remarkable human being and athlete and she is the model of how to uh play the game the right way take care of your body off to court um and such an ambassador for the game and I just love that she's being honored celebrated and again this she gets it she understands and Embraces um the Legends um the current and and the future and we need more more people like DT out there and and and leading the way and I couldn't be proud for her and for this organ organization and for the dub um if this is her last year man what a heck of a career she's had tremend set in for me for quite some time [Music] um I want my legacy to be the impact that I can have on young kids I think it's you know it is what it is it's whatever they see on the video is what they're going to call um but I think we could have responded a little better the WNBA game is always intense and physical like a Non-Stop showdown of strength and strategy the WNBA game has always been physical has always been violent everybody is getting fouled hard not just Caitlyn Clark but everybody's getting F Caitlyn's stepping up big time poised to lead our Squad to new heights hey Kaitlyn uh we we were watching you evolve we're watching your game evolve a little bit and we're seeing you become more of a vocal leader to the team um Clark's aggressive game playay lead to potential disciplinary action the question of whether Caitlyn Clark faces suspension due to flagrant fouls looms large in discussions surrounding her performance as a prominent player in her sport Clark's aggressive style of play has occasionally led to incidents that rais concerns about potential disciplinary actions Caitlyn's string of flagrant fowls has stirred up some serious talk about her future on the court her recent accumulation of flagrant fowls has heightened speculation about her future on the court a foul we have a technical foul on the play Minnesota will shoot one shot and the play will resume from the point of interruption you hear the announcement here fans and analysts alike are closely monitoring how Le officials will address these infractions as any suspension could have significant implications for both Clark and her team's upcoming games here's how Caitlyn got a technical foul all a transition take foul they will and now Clark gets a t in addition and oh yeah okay certainly deserve the technical I'd say warrant [Applause] [Music] [Applause] hot [Applause]
